Jill opened the show talking about her new Rebelle Rally team. Listen in for details. Tom shared some information about a not-for-profit organization that packages sundry products for patients undergoing Chemotherapy. The packages include items to help recipients deal with chemo side effects, including loss of taste, dry skin, and dehydration. You can check out Lemons of Love at lemonsoflove.org. The hosts went to discuss the Cybertruck. The polarizing Tesla pickup is no longer being accepted in trade by Tesla, a thing which will likely impact resale value. Also, Tesla has introduced a new, less expensive Cybertruck trim level, which may lure some shoppers back into showrooms. Tom noted the addition of a more affordable trim level to the GMC Sierra EV lineup. The new model lowers the cost of entry for a Sierra EV considerably. Still in the first segment, Jill and Tom talked about Jeff Bezos' new EV startup Slate Auto. The new company is gearing up to produce small, $25,000 electric pickup trucks meant to be customized by the end user. Production begins as early as late next year. In the second segment, the hosts welcome veteran auto journalist Gary Witzenburg to the show. Gary talked about a pair of articles he recently wrote, both about 2-seat Pontiacs. The first, which appeared recently in Collectible Automobile, covered the Fiero. The latter, which appeared on the Haggerty website, covered the brand's Solstice small sports car. Listen in for fascinating insights into both cars. In the last segment, Jill is subjected to Tom's “Sixty More Seconds” quiz. How did she do? Listen in.
Coming Down the Pipe... [0:00] - The intro for Season 20 of The Pipeline Show [1:12] - Guy begins the week by going through the top goaltending performances this season in the WHL, OHL, QMJHL, AJHL, BCHL, USHL and NCAA plus the CHL Top 20 and the USCHO Top 20 for NCAA. [14:53] - He's the top rated goaltender from the Class of 2025 and he's obviously one of the best the Western Hockey League has to offer this year as well. Joshua Ravensbergen is now in his 2nd season with the Prince George Cougars and looks to backstop his club to a league title. [35:02] - Not that long ago, the Alberta Junior Hockey League let it be known that Cold Lake, AB was a potential candidate for a new franchise in the league. That appears to have gone sideways but why? To make sense of it, or try to, is the voice of the Pontiacs, Michael Menzies. [1:04:44] - It's a bounce-back year from the QMJHL and one of the reasons for that is 6'2 forward Bill Zonnon of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. The Montreal native is tagged as a potential 1st round pick this summer, Zonnon joined me this week in another Draft Spotlight segment.

I suspect this listener request was just for a very simple name goof, but we had a good time regardless. I've never paid much attention to Pontiacs, even less since the brand died. But despite a lifetime of scorn for American muscle cars, this podcast, and the listener requests that forced me to stare at these designs, have taught me some respect. There are some winners here, for sure. Here is a link to images we reference that aren't on the Firebird's wiki page. If you want to find us on Twitter, Dylan is @lowpolyrobot and Six is @sixdettmar. Welcome to Campfire Classics, a Literary Comedy Podcast!! The breaks are over! The team is back! And...well, you read the title and your here anyway... Heather picked a witchy little Nathaniel Hawthorne ditty (can you use that word as a story?) for Ken to read. Which he does. Eventually. First your hosts chat about life, the universe, and...you know...stuff. The story is actually quite good. Well, the stories usually are. Along the way Heather and Ken discuss demon Pontiacs, mystical drug dealers, and and the relative merits of owning multiple staffs. If you know what I mean. "Young Goodman Brown" was first published in 1835. Email us at 5050artsproduction@gmail.com. Remember to tell five friends to check out Campfire Classics. Like, subscribe, leave a review. Now sit back, light a fire (or even a candle), grab a drink, and enjoy.

Former KQRS on air personality Ray Erick joins us in studio and we oddly spend an hour talking about cars; the hunt for a '79 Biarritz, the 5-window coupe that almost killed him, the 1955 190 SL that he tried to steal from a collector and his current stable of Pontiacs. Along the way, we veer into radio land including how Ray got his first twin cities broadcasting job when he showed up to apply to drive the Whale for WAYL. If you are a race fan, particularly road racing of any sort, a crash or the possibility of a crash is always present. Every time it does happen, it is dissected to find out what happened, how it happened, and how can the driver be better protected. Sooner or later the crash will happen. In this book, author Jonathon Ingram looks at several aspects of safety development that basically shifted into high gear with the Aytron Senna crash in 1994 on up to the Dale Earnhardt crash in 2001. Many of those developments have continued to develop more safety, but it all had to start some where. In our Feature segment, Jeff Dziekan is recalling '5 Pontiacs Car Fans have fogotten'.---- ----- Want more In Wheel Time Car Talk any time? I got to hang out with Josh Dubois and record Episode #32 of Badass Records Podcast at the same time, which -- -- 100 percent counts as both a privilege and a treat.Ya' heard? We chatted Car Seat Headrest and Beastie Boys and parenthood and hip-hop and film production and documentaries and how good life is and can be and man...it was fun.Things like Killer Mike and restored Pontiacs and match.com might've come up, too. As did some serious all-around knowledge from this cat I barely know.Cliche, sure, but I feel blessed to've tip-toed my way to two and-a-half dozen of these so far, and -- to be truthful -- I wake up every day hopeful that the ride will continue. So, if you're into doing things that're both relatively helpful for another human and potentially entertaining for you, please do me two (Note: I know. I'm a tool. Sorry.) favors and give both https://www.mayonnaisecommercial.com/ and this conversation with Josh a visit. There're no prizes, but maybe you feel better. Maybe you feel like creating. I dunno.Anyway, Josh deserved more credit than I gave him for his feature-length film debut happening at the beginning of October at the Tallgrass Film Festival in Wichita, KS here in a couple weeks. Super, super cool. I'm very happy for him and proud to know a human having an accolade sprinkled in to their life. And, oh, that fatherhood sash with that girl-dad badge sewn on it. Not sure it gets any better than that.copyright disclaimer. I do not own the rights to the intro/outro audio. Today we talk about the very first Ford Lighting rolling off the production line, the largest retirement plan holder allowing investments in Bitcoin, and we're talking about Pontiac's final days. The very first Ford Lightnings have rolled off the assembly linePre production began on Sept 21, 2021 (Just over 7 months ago)Executive Chairman, Bill Ford, “Today we celebrate the Model T moment for the 21st Century at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center.” “The stunning anticipation for F-150 Lightning is a credit to the work of our Ford engineers and designers, and the UAW team members who are building these trucks with pride.”200k Pre orders, Ford plans on fulfilling 150k this yearFidelity plans to allow investors to put bitcoin in their 401Ks. The plan will open the 23,000 companies that use Fidelity to bitcoin options later this year.Fidelity is the US's largest retirement-plan provider, but this move toward the mainstream for crypto will need the endorsement of employers to be complete, which remains to be seen. Under the plan, Fidelity would let savers allocate as much as 20% of their nest eggs to bitcoin, though that threshold could be lowered by plan sponsors.Vanguard Group, a major competitor of Fidelity's, says it “has no plans to offer a cryptocurrency option within its 401(k) plans,” according to a spokeswoman. On its site, the company says, “since cryptocurrencies are highly speculative in their current state, Vanguard believes their long-term investment case is weak.”Overheard — “If I retire right now I can live on my savings for 30 years, now 10 years, now 41 years, now 3 years” On April 27th, 2009 GM announces plans to end production of the 80 year old Pontiac brandPontiac's origins date back to the Oakland Motor Car, which was founded in 1907 in Pontiac, Michigan, by Edward Murphy, a horse-drawn carriage manufacturer. In 1909, Oakland became part of General Motors, a conglomerate formed the previous year by another former buggy company executive, William Durant. The first Pontiac model made its debut as part of the Oakland line in the 1920s. The car, which featured a six-cylinder engine, proved so popular that the Oakland name was eventually dropped and Pontiac became its own GM division by the early 1930s.The New York Times: “More than any other G.M. brand, Pontiac stood for performance, speed and sex appeal.” Pontiacs were featured in such movies as 1977's “Smokey and the Bandit,” in which actor Burt Reynolds drove a black Pontiac Trans Am, and the 1980s hit TV show “Knight Rider,” which starred a Pontiac Trans Am as KITT, a talking car with artificial intelligence, alongside David Hasselhoff as crime fighter Michael Knight.Get the ASOTU Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/Listen to other episodes: https://www.asotu.com/media/podcastsRead the most recent Daily Push Back email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-emailShare positive dealer stories: https://www.asotu.com/positivity-------

On this episode of Crusaders Pregame, hosts Zach Marks and Dawson Petryshen recap the back to back set against the Bonnyville Pontiacs, and look ahead to the final game of the season againt the Blackfalds Bulldogs. After a bounce back effort against Drayton Valley, the Cru had some momentum heading into Bonnyville. Goals from Bruce MacGregor and Cale Ashcroft gave the team all the offense it needed, as Gus Bylin made 37 saves for the shutout. Unfortunately, the following night in the Randy Rosen Rink, the opposite happened as Sherwood Park fell 3-0 to the Pontiacs. Dawson had a chance to speak with the newest Crusader, Matthew Morgan on his role and adaptation with the team. All the action can be found on HockeyTV, or head over to Average Joe's in Sherwood Park to catch the game, puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. in Blackfalds.

Show Notes Episode 340: We're Wall to Wall and Tree Top Tall This week Host Dave Bledsoe is coming down out of Hog Town in a Thirteen Letter Shit Spreader hauling Go-Go Girls on the Dance Floor bound for Bingo Town, only to discover that no one has a single fucking clue what he is saying when he talks like that. (Not an uncommon event.) On the show this week, we climb into the cabs of our big rigs and take you back to the days when the Asphalt Cowboys captured America's heart and everyone had a CB radio in their Pontiacs. Along the way we learn that Dave thought he would be a Big Rig Driver because he liked the hats, until he learned he would need to park the damn things. From there we dive right into the strange cultural moment in the 1970's when everyone in America talked like a truck driver. (What a bunch of Bucket Mouths) We find out how a combination of gas prices and not being able to drive 55 made the men (and they were almost all men) on the road big damn heroes because of some commercials for white bread (Yeah, this story goes in some unexpected directions.) Our Sponsor this week is Pappy's Pep Pills, we swear they ain't speed (wink wink) We open the show with NPR and close with Phil and Shawn talking about BJ and the Bear. On this episode of Crusaders Pregame, hosts Zach Marks and Dawson Petryshen recap the spirited loss to the Bonnyville Pontiacs and preview the Crusaders' return home against the Drumheller Dragons. Perhaps a bit of relief for Sherwood Park to get away from the Randy Rosen Rink for a game, as they had lost three straight games to close out their home stand. Mitchell Joss opened the scoring in Bonnyville and Carmelo Crandell potted his first in 10 appearances, but quick responses from the Pontiacs sent the teams into the first intermission tied. After that, Pontiacs goaltender Bodee Weiss shut the door, and Bonnyville walked away with a 5-2 victory, handing the Cru their fourth straight loss. Dawson had a chance to speak with the goal scorer Crandell before tonight's matchup on how his game has developed this season, and what the team needs to do to break the slump. Tune in to HockeyTV for all the action tonight at the Randy Rosen Rink, or grab a ticket to the game to watch right here in Sherwood Park, puck drop is at 7:15 p.m.
The triumphant return of the Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals (MCACN) featured many stunning Pontiacs on display. Among them, a very special GTO was unveiled on the first day of the show. For this installment of Pontiac Talk, we chat with owner Paul Lesiczka about this very special GTO. Thanks again to our great partners! AMES PERFORMANCE AUTO SMART PURCELL PERFORMANCE & RESTORATION
On this episode of Crusaders Pregame, hosts Zach Marks and Dawson Petryshen look back on the first weekend at home for Sherwood Park, and preview how the Cru will finish up their three game home stand against the Spruce Grove Saints. Opening the scoring at the Randy Rosen Rink on Saturday was Ashton McNelly, to the sounds of 500+ fans crowding the stands. Caelum Dick pots his first of two on the game, the Wolverines came back for two in the second period but Dick snipes his second goal home for the overtime winner. Sunday against Bonnyville was a slightly different contest, Josh Rule gets the Crusaders on the board but just 24 seconds pass and Kash Rasumussen gets the first of four unanswered goals for the Pontiacs. Starter Gus Bylin made 31 saves in the contest. Dawson also had a chance to chat with defenceman Cade Christenson ahead of the Saints matchup, talking the previous weekend and how he's developed his game so far. Tune in to HockeyTV for all of the action tonight, where Brenden Escott and Zach Marks will have the call.
You'll hear all sorts of strong voices on today's episode with playwright Neal Adelman weighing in on his flash play, “Ricky Jay Meets Pain,” read by Tahmus Rounds and Ben Bergstrom. Expo editor Jessica June Rowe joins us for the interview portion as we delve into humor, pain, and submitting fearlessly. Read along at: http://expositionreview.com/flash-405/ricky-jay-meets-pain/ About the Reader: Neal Adelman was born and raised in Fort Worth, TX. His plays, screenplays, and short stories have been published, produced and--as Neal likes to put it--received some very cool recognition. His full length play PONTIACS received the KCACTF Mark Twain Award, and his short film, TARRANT COUNTY, was invited to the 2019 Sedona International Film Festival and the 2019 Grove Film Festival in Jersey City. Recently, his brand new full length play LARRY'S HOME FOR WAYWARD MEN had a staged re ading with Tantrum Easy Theatre Co. in NYC, and even more recently, he has been told that the editors just ‘locked picture' on TRUCK FISHING IN AMERICA, a short film which he wrote, produced, scored, and acted in. When he's not writing, he's either fishing or playing in yet another shitty rock band. Currently, he lives, writes, works, plays, and loves in Las Cruces, NM. This On the Move is a shadowy flight into the exciting world of a man who is on a crusade to champion an ‘80s TV series that featured a special Trans Am known the world over as KITT, a crime-fighting pop icon that continues to resonate with audiences today. Before connecting with Joe Huth IV of the Knight Rider Historians, hosts Matt Avery and John Kraman have their eye on Mecum’s upcoming Houston Auction (taking place April 8-10) and take time to spotlight a handful of recent consignments. John is smitten with a pair of hot haulers, liking 1953 Chevrolet 3100 and 1968 Chevrolet C10 pickups. Besides the Bowtie brand connection, both are similar in that they sport a modern LS3 V-8 engine upgrade. Meanwhile, Matt is moved with one mean Mopar, favoring a 1968 Dodge Hemi Charger R/T. This R/T is one of just 264 produced with an automatic transmission and is the only known example painted in Code EE1 Dark Blue Metallic. Keeping the focus on performance, Matt shifts to discuss the 2022 Bentley Continental GT Speed. The big bruiser comes equipped with a W12 engine modified to deliver 650 HP and 664 lb-ft of torque. Other upgrades include carbon ceramic brakes and Dark Tint trim. Wrapping up the first segment, the guys talk about the leak of images showing what appears to be a production-ready Nissan 400Z, a car that should easily excite enthusiasts when it arrives later this year. Next up, Matt and John are joined by Joe Huth IV of the Knight Rider Historians. Joe has spent years passionately researching and documenting the 1980s television series and has acquired one of the screen-used Pontiac Trans Ams. He shares with the guys how he got started, memories of his experiences of appearing on national media such as Jay Leno’s Garage and Good Morning America, and even meeting the lead actor, David Hasselhoff. Joe also gives the details on his latest piece of memorabilia, the semi-truck cab of the show's FLAG Mobile unit. The hauler was found in rural Idaho and took Joe years of research to locate and acquire. He'll be performing a full restoration in the months ahead. Rounding out this On The Move, Matt and John turn to other iconic Firebirds in film and TV, discussing other Pontiacs seen on the silver screen in such productions as "The Rockford Files" and "Smokey and the Bandit."

Podcast #20 / 1763 - Two British Forts Fall Along the Wabash Thanks to the Prophet’s “Indians First Movement” the local Indian tribes around the Detroit River were now woke to the British hegemonic intentions. War Chief Pontiac in response to the local Indians enlightenment coached up four of the tribes to kick off a three phased hot war against the British swells. The first attack was at Fort Detroit. But, Pontiacs surprise tip of his phase one kinetic spear aimed at the garrison at Fort Detroit bombed. So he instantly jumped to phase two - a siege at Fort Detroit. Pontiac then called his war room board of directors together. The phase three collective theme was to pivot from Detroit which was fully under siege and send out a task force with a war wampum belt to recruit other tribes in the Great Lake Region to attack the British Forts in their area. The working group was also tasked with giving a blast to the French at Fort de Chatres on the Mississippi for help. The Indiana tribes along the Wabash River (Wea, Kickapoo and Mascouten ) accepted the war wampum belt from Pontiacs surrogates and moved against Fort Miamis and Fort Ouiatenon. Around the middle of the Summer of 1763 nine British forts in the Great Lakes including Fort Miamis and Fort Ouiatenon had fallen to the Indians. British authority in Indiana no longer existed along the Wabash important fur trade route. Sent from my iPhone

October 24, 2019 at the Boston Athenæum. In the early days of Prohibition, long before Al Capone became a household name, a German immigrant named George Remus quit practicing law and started trafficking whiskey. Within two years he was a multi-millionaire. The press called him “King of the Bootleggers,” writing breathless stories about the Gatsby-esque events he and his glamorous second wife, Imogene, hosted at their Cincinnati mansion, with party favors ranging from diamond jewelry for the men to brand-new Pontiacs for the women. By the summer of 1921, Remus owns 35 percent of all the liquor in the United States. Pioneering prosecutor Mabel Walker Willebrandt was determined to bring him down. Willebrandt’s bosses at the Justice Department hired her right out of law school, assuming she would pose no real threat to the cozy relationship they maintained with Remus. Eager to prove them wrong, she dispatched her best investigator, Franklin Dodge, to look into his empire. It was a decision with deadly consequences. With the fledgling FBI on the case, Remus was quickly imprisoned for violating the Volstead Act. With her husband behind bars, Imogene began an affair with investigator Dodge. Together, they plotted to ruin Remus, which sparked a bitter feud that soon reached the highest levels of government–and ended in murder. Combining deep historical research with novelistic flair, The Ghosts of Eden Park is the unforgettable, stranger-than-fiction story of a rags-to-riches entrepreneur and a long-forgotten heroine, of the excesses and absurdities of the Jazz Age, and of the infinite human capacity to deceive.

This weeks interview is Doug Warble with the Susquehanna Valley GTO club. They'll be hosting the GTOAA National Meet June 26-30, 2018 Valley Forge, PA. Doug grew up around cars and when his dad purchased a GTO "parts car" his life changed to revolve around Pontiacs. He is a fountain of information and I dared to ask him about his favorite obsession. The GTOAA was founded in 1979 by Tony Bastion for the restoration, preservation and enjoyment of GTOs. The first meet was in Indianapolis Indiana and has grown nationwide. The GTOAA now boasts 4000 members across the US. The organization recently started spot lighting the regional chapters and boosting them on the national web site and Facebook. This action has significantly increased it's membership and should make for a great turnout at the national meet. Chronic problems in business are usually the result of binary thinking. “It's either this way or that way. It can't be both.” Strangely, the answer is almost always “both.” “Should I try to attract the price-driven (transactional) customer, or should I go for the (relational) customer who cares about something other than price?” Both. Create and schedule ads that speak convincingly to the question of price. Create and schedule other ads that speak of important matters beyond price. Just don't try to do both in the same ad. “Should I manage with strict policies, procedures, methods and systems, or should I empower my employees to make decisions on their own?” Both. Systematize the 90 percent of your company's activities that are recurrent so that your employees have the freedom to humanize and customize the 10 percent of your activities that are ever-changing and unusual. A company without freedoms is a sweatshop. A company without policies, procedures, methods and systems is a country club for unproductive employees. “Should I promote an exclusive brand and risk the manufacturer betraying me by allowing my competitor to sell that brand for which I've created all the demand, or should I create my own in-house brand so that I can remain in control of it?” Both. You need the credibility of established brands to lend strength to the new brand you will introduce. Advertise both, but never in the same ad. “Won't this make me seem unfocused?” No. You must get on board with proven procedures. You must also do your own thing and go your own direction. It's not only possible that you do both, it is essential. Mechanics across Europe began building cars in 1886 and each time they built a car it was different. More than 2,000 different garages built and sold cars one-at-a-time before Henry Ford's 1913 introduction of the first moving assembly line employing conveyor belts. Henry popularized the concept of interchangeable parts. It was efficient. It also made him the richest man in the world. By 1923 Henry Ford was personally earning $264,000 a day. He was declared a billionaire by the Associated Press. More than 17,000,000 Model T's rolled off Henry's assembly line and you could have any color you wanted as long as it was black. The inefficiency of building cars one-at-a-time forced the other 2,000 garages to sell their cars at about $2,500 apiece while the price of a reliable, new Model T was only $849. Soon the other carmakers got on board and America became an automotive Wonderland. But we always take a good thing too far. Fifty years later, General Motors decided to take this idea to the next level. “Instead of designing 5 different brands each year and retooling our machinery to build Chevrolets, Pontiacs, Oldsmobiles, Buicks and Cadillacs, why not just put a different interior package and grille and taillights in the same, basic car and sell that car under 5 different names?” A Chevy Cavalier is a Pontiac Sunbird is an Oldsmobile Firenza is a Buick Skyhawk is a Cadillac Cimarron. A Chevy Nova is a Pontiac Ventura is an Oldsmobile Omega is a Buick Apollo is a Cadillac Seville. A Chevy Caprice is a Pontiac Catalina is an Olds 98 is a Buick Electra is a Cadillac DeVille. On the surface, this looks like exactly the same idea that made Henry Ford rich. The problem with the “platform engineering” introduced by GM in the late 1970s is that it eroded the distinctiveness of their brands. Two decades later GM was forced to close Oldsmobile and a few years after that, Pontiac fell as well. Analysts speculate whether Buick or Cadillac will be next. Conformity is essential or you will not be efficient. Differentiation is essential or you will not be special. Differentiate the 10 percent the public sees and experiences. Manage the 90 percent...
With the advent of mobile code (excutable programs that are carried on web pages and inside E-Mail) in everyday use, the capability to include malicious software without the recipient's knowlege has been implicit. From the first crude examples ("Concept", 1995) through the "Russian New Year" exploits (1997-98), to the current surprises (Bubbleboy, 1999) there has been a continual advance in sophistication. Despite attempts by the manufacturer to provide mitigation, these patches are little known or applied and often apply only to the latest versions and not the bulk of the installed base. We shall examine the built-in capabilities that make this possible, the probable rationale behind such decisions, and the implication for future events.
