We frequently hear the statement "I never received what I wanted until the time came when I did not care for it and did not need it." This statement may in most instances be based upon an unguided imagination, though this is not always the case, because there are thousands of people who actually have this very experience. They never get what they want until the desire for it, as well as the need of it, have disappeared. There may be occasional exceptions, but the rule is that what we persistently desire we shall sooner or later receive. Too often it is later, the reason being that most desires are purely personal and are not inspired by those real needs that may exist in the great eternal now. Mere personal desires are usually out of harmony with the present process of soul-growth, and therefore there is no supply in our immediate mental vicinity for what those desires naturally need. This is the reason why more time is required for the fulfilling of these desires, and frequently the time required is so long that when the desire is fulfilled we do not need it any more. When we desire only those things that are best for us now, that is, those things that are necessary to a full and complete life in the present, we shall receive what we desire at the very time when those things are needed. What is best for us now is ready in the mental world to be expressed through us. Every demand has its own supply in the immediate vicinity, and every demand will find or attract its own supply without any delay whatever, but the demand must be natural, not artificial.
Every thought is patterned after the mental image that predominates at the time the thought is created. This is another great metaphysical law and its importance is found in the fact that thoughts are things, that every thought produces an effect on mind and body, and that the effect is always similar to the cause. According to these facts we can therefore produce any effect desired upon mind or body by producing the necessary thought or mental state, so that when we have learned to control our thinking we can control practically everything else in life, because in the last analysis it is thinking that constitutes the one great cause in the life of the individual. To control thinking, however, we must understand the process of thought creation. To think is to create thought, and to control thinking is to create any thought we like at any time and under any circumstance. When we analyze the process of thinking we find three factors involved; that is, the pattern, the mental substance and the creative energy. The pattern is always the deepest impression, the clearest image, or the predominating idea.

The Optimist's Creed, penned by Christian D. Larson, is a powerful set of principles aimed at fostering positivity, resilience, and a hopeful outlook towards life. Here's a simplified summary of its core tenets: Promise Yourself To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. What makes the Optimist's Creed by Christian D. Larson uniquely impactful is its timeless applicability and holistic approach to fostering an optimistic outlook. The Optimist's Creed stands out not just as a collection of positive affirmations but as a comprehensive guide to living life with purpose, joy, and resilience.

A great quote from Christian D. Larson was "Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle." Donna and Steve look at this concept from so many angles. Listen in and let us know your perspective on this. We'd love to hear!
https://anchor.fm/innerity/subscribe Man is as he thinks he is, and what he does is the result of the sum total of his thought. The average person, however, thinks at random and therefore lives at random and does not know from day to day whether good or evil lies in his path. What he finds in his path is invariably the result of his own thinking, but as he does not know what results different kinds of thought produce he creates both good and evil daily not knowing that he necessarily does either of these. When he knows what each mental state will produce, however, and has gained the power to think as he likes under all sorts of circumstances, then he will have fate, destiny, environment, physical conditions, mental conditions, attainments, achievements and in fact everything in his own hands. You never think scientifically unless you think for a purpose; it is therefore purposeless thinking that you must avoid. To train the mind to think only in the right states of mind we must learn to distinguish between right and wrong mental states, though this is a matter that becomes very simple when we understand that the difference between right and wrong states of mind is found in this, that the former tends to relate the mind properly to the laws, the principles and the powers of life, while the latter tends to prevent that relationship.

Episode 17 Believe Every Problem Has a Creative Solution |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside that is greater than any obstacle.” - Christian D. Larson Life is about choices. The words reactive and creative are made of exactly the same letters. The only difference between the two is where we place the “c.” With every question we have a choice to be reactive or creative. Creativity is changing the question for “is there an answer” to “what is the answer.” Creativity takes time, patience and experimentation. You have to enter into the process of believing there is an answer.

Experience the life-changing power of Christian D. Larson with this unforgettable text. Concentration, written by Christian D. Larson was published in New York in 1920. Powerful short book with information that is still valuable nearly 100 years after it was first written. (108 pages) Bio: Christian D. Larson (1874 – 1962) was an American New Thought leader and teacher, as well as a prolific author of metaphysical and New Thought books. He is credited by Horatio Dresser as being a founder in the New Thought movement. Many of Larson's books remain in print today, nearly 100 years after they were first published, and his writings influenced notable New Thought authors and leaders, including Religious Science founder Ernest Holmes. In 1912 Larson developed the Optimist Creed, which in 1922 was adopted by Optimist International, better known as the Optimist Clubs. Excerpts: ...The art of concentration is one of the simplest to learn, and one of the greatest when mastered; and these pages are written especially for those who wish to learn how to master this fine art in all of its aspects; who wish to develop the power to concentrate well at any time and for any purpose; who wish to make real concentration a permanent acquisition of the mind. ...Whatever your work or your purpose may be, a good concentration is indispensable. It is necessary to apply, upon the object or subject at hand, the full power of thought and talent if you are to secure, with a certainty, the results you desire, or win the one thing you have in view. But the art of concentration is not only a leading factor in the fields of achievement and realization; it is also a leading factor in another field — a field of untold possibility. ...The exceptional value of concentration is recognized universally; and still there are comparatively few that really know how to concentrate. Some of these have a natural aptitude for concentrated thought and action, while others have improved themselves remarkably in this direction, due to increased knowledge on the subject; but as yet the psychology of concentration is not understood generally; and that is why the majority have not developed this great art, although they are deeply desirous of doing so. ...When we do not know how to proceed, we either hesitate or proceed in a bungling fashion; or, we may proceed under the guidance of a number of misleading beliefs. And in connection with concentration there are several ideas and beliefs that have interfered greatly with the development of this art. In fact, methods have been given out, and published broadcast, that are supposed to develop concentration, but that produce the very opposite effect..... The purpose of this work is to present practical methods through which anyone, the beginner in particular, may realize his ideals, cause his cherished dreams to come true, and cause the visions of the soul to become tangible realities in everyday life. Our purpose is the living of a greater and a greater life, and in such a life all philosophies must constantly change. In preparing the following pages, the object has been to take the beginner out of the limitations of the old into the boundlessness of the new; to emphasize the fact that the possibilities that are latent in the human mind are nothing less than marvelous, and that the way to turn those possibilities to practical use is sufficiently simple for anyone to understand. But no method has been presented that will not tend to suggest new and better methods as required for further advancement. The best ideas are those that inspire new ideas, better ideas, and greater ideas. The most perfect science of life is that science that gives each individual the power to create and recreate his own science as he ascends in the scale of life. Great souls are developed only where minds are left free to employ the best-known methods according to their own understanding and insight. And it is only as the soul grows greater and greater that the ideal can be made real. It is individuality and originality that give each person the power to make his own life as he may wish it to be; but those two important factors do not flourish in definite systems. There is no progress where the soul is placed in the hands of methods; true and continuous progress can he promoted only where all ideas, all methods and all principles are placed in the hands of the soul. We have selected the best ideas and the best methods known for making the ideal real, and through this work, will place them in your hands. We do not ask you to follow these methods; we simply ask you to use them. You will then find them all to be practical; you will find that every one will work and produce the results you desire. You will then, not only make real the ideal in your present sphere of life, but you will also develop within yourself that Greater Life, the power of which has no limit, the joy of which has no end. Christian D. Larson was born in Iowa, in 1874. He attended Iowa State College, and also attended a Unitarian Theological school in Meadville, Pa. On The Heights by Christan D Larson When we transcend the world of things and begin to live on the borderland of the splendor and immensity of the cosmic world, we discover that the vision of the soul was true. Those lofty realms that we have dreamed of so often and so long are dreams no more; we find those realms to be real, the prophetic visions of our sublime moments are fulfilled, and our joy is great beyond measure. The soul no longer dwells in the limitations of personal form, but is awakened to the glory and magnificence of Its own divine existence. The mind is illumined by the light of the great eternal sun, and the body becomes the consecrated temple of the spirit. The ills of life take flight, the imperfect passes away, and we find ourselves in a new heaven and a new earth. Beautiful beyond description is the new life we have now begun to live; every moment is an eternity of bliss, and to live -- simply to live -- that is sufficient. We can ask for nothing more; we have received everything that the heart can wish for; we are in that higher world where every prayer is answered, where every desire is granted, where every need is abundantly supplied; are ON THE HEIGHTS, where God is closer than breathing, nearer than hands and feet. Christian D. Larson was born in Iowa, in 1874. He attended Iowa State College, and also attended a Unitarian Theological school in Meadville, Pa. Christian Daa Larson was an American New Thought leader and teacher, as well as a prolific author of metaphysical and New Thought books. His writings influenced notable New Thought authors and leaders, including Religious Science founder Ernest Holmes.Christian D. Larson was born in Iowa, in 1874. He attended Iowa State College, and also attended a Unitarian Theological school in Meadville, Pa. In his early twenties, Larson became interested in the Mental Science teachings of Helen Wilmans, Henry Wood, Charles Brodie Patterson, and other prolific New Thought writers of the time. Christian had an analytical mind and his own new thought writings made had a big influence on the movement. Larson believed that all people have a tremendous latent power within them, which could be harnessed for success with the right mind and proper attitude. He attempted to find a place where science and theology could meet in order to provide a practical and systematic philosophy of life.In 1901, Larson organized the New Thought Temple at his residence. In September of that same year, Christian Larson began to publish books for one of the leading New Thought periodicals of the time. This was around the time he bagan his writing career, going on to write over 40 books in the New Thought and metaphysical genre. Christian D. Larson also had aconsiderable influence on the work and philosophy of Ernest Holmes, the founder of Religious Science (also known as Science of Mind), early in his career. Holmes had been studying the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, but was particularly impressed with the New Thought writings of Larson. According to Fenwicke Holmes, Ernest abandoned the Christian Science textbook in favor of Larson's books. Ernest and Fenwicke Holmes later took a correspondence course with Christian D. Larson. In Ernest Holme's biography, Fenwilk Holmes elaborates on the influence that Larson had on his brother Ernest. Larson influenced Holmes to a nw philsophy that inspired him to go forward with learning and practicing the art of mental treatment, also encouraging him to go beyond physical healing to the 'control of external conditions'.When Ernest Holmes' 2-year old magazine changed its name to Science of Mind in 1920, Christian D. Larson became the associate editor and a frequent contributer. Christian D. Larson is also credited by Horatio Dresser as being one of the influential founders in the shaping of the early New Thought movement. As early as 1928, Christian D. Larson began appearing in the Science of Mind magazine as part of the major teaching courses. Christian Larson was also on the permenent staff of the Institute of Religious Science in Los Angeles, of which Ernest Holmes was the founder. Christian D. Larson was also a one time honorary President of the International New Thought Alliance. In 1912 Larson developed the "The Optimist's Creed" , which in 1922, was adopted by Optimist International, better known as the Optimist Clubs. Christian D. Larson was an important leader in the New Thought movement. His early influence on Ernest Holmes, Norman Vincent Peale, and numerous other self-help and inspirational writers influenced much of the New Thought movement as a whole. Nearly 100 years after they were first published, many of Larson's books still remain popular and in print today. In our first reading of Larson's writing we go to his book Your Forces and How To Use Them. There are many wonderful chapters but in this we focus on imagination. Imagination has been a popular subject on the podcast primarily through Dr. Joseph Murphy and Neville Goddard. This talks about imagination and controlling your mind and it is a wonderful addition to contribute to our understanding of imagination. The Optimist Creed | Optimist International I Promise Myself... • To be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind. • To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person I meet. • To make all my friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them. • To look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true. • To think only the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best. • To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own. • To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. • To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature I meet a smile. • To give so much time to the improvement of myself that I have no time to criticize others. • To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. • To think well of myself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words, but in great deeds. • To live in the faith that the whole world is on my side so long as I am true to the best that is in me. #TheOptimistCreed #PromiseYourself #PositiveAffirmations To listen to more English poems by Simerjeet Singh on YouTube, please visit this link: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOaeOd121eBHlxYphPaAHtnBW04RE9JzU For more information about my work as a motivational speaker, please visit http://www.simerjeetsingh.com Follow us on: Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/cuttingedgeINDIA Blog: http://www.simerjeet.wordpress.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/cuttingedgeindia/ Instagram: @speakersimer Twitter: @SimerjeetSingh For more information, subscribe to our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/CuttingEdgeINDIA
Listen to episode 459 of the Inspirational Living Podcast: Inspiration for a Larger, Richer, More Beautiful Life. Edited and adapted from The Pathway of Roses by Christian D. Larson. Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: The mind that lives in doubt can see limitations everywhere. The mind that lives in faith can see no limitations, and, in fact, knows that there are no limitations anywhere. The mind that lives in doubt is in bondage to these seeming limitations, and therefore realizes nothing more of life than what is confined within these seeming limitations. But the mind that lives in faith, lives in the freedom of the all of life, and is daily realizing more and more of everything that is contained in the all of life. Faith can see that no matter how large or beautiful life may be now, there is always a larger and a more beautiful life to live for, to work for, and to realize in the days that are near at hand. In a life of faith, there is no end to anything; there is always something more, always something richer, always something greater, always something better.

Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: Welcome to the Inspirational Living podcast. Today’s reading was edited and adapted from The Pathway of Roses by Christian D. Larson, published in 1912. To the person who has faith nothing is impossible. It matters not what you may wish to realize or what you may wish to do; if you have faith, it can be done. But what do we mean by faith? Faith is not a passive belief; it is positive action. It is the power of the spirit within us, acting upon the life, mind, body, and the nature of our being; and by acting through us, it acts upon everything with which we may come in contact. When we have faith, we do not simply believe in the form or that which may exist in the external. When we have faith, we enter into the spirit of that in which we express our faith. The secret of real faith, and the real power of such a faith, is therefore found in the spirit.
Listen to episode 431 of the Inspirational Living podcast: How You Create Your Destiny Every Day. Edited and adapted from How the Mind Works by Christian D. Larson. Motivational Podcast Excerpt: Welcome to the Inspirational Living podcast. You can help support our podcast by spreading the word to your friends on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, or by leaving us a positive review at the iTunes store. Thank you. Today’s reading was edited and adapted from How the Mind Works by Christian D. Larson, published in 1912. Your destiny is being created hourly by you. And that something that determines what you are to create at any particular period in time is the sum total of your ideals. Your future is not preordained by some external power, nor is fate controlled by some strange and mysterious force that master minds can alone comprehend and apply. It is our ideals that control and determine our fate. And we all have ideals, whether we be aware of the fact or not. To have ideals is to have definite objects in view, be those objects very high, very low, or anywhere in between. The ideals of any mind are simply the wants, the desires and the aims of that mind — and as every normal mind will invariably live, think, and work for that which is wanted by its present state of existence, it is evident that every mind must necessarily follow its ideals both consciously and unconsciously.
Listen to episode 430 of the Inspirational Living podcast: How to Live a Larger Measure of Life. Edited and adapted from How the Mind Works by Christian D. Larson. If you would like to give back to our podcast and help ensure its production for years to come, you can make a one-time donation at LivingHour.org/donate. Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: The person who gives much of themselves will be abundantly enriched because they place in life a large measure of themselves to be filled. The one who gives things may lose all that is given. But the one who gives of themselves (the best that is in themselves) loses nothing. Instead they gain a larger and a richer self. To have an abundance of life is to have the power to help yourself and to re-create your own world according to your highest desires. The gift of life is therefore the highest gift. It is also the largest gift because it includes all gifts. To give one's life is to express in thought, word, or action, everything of worth that one may possess in mind or soul. That is, everything that one may live for. And how much we live for depends upon how largely the life is measured in our understanding.
Listen to episode 414 of the Inspirational Living podcast: The Happiness Cure | Being Healthy & Anxiety Free. Edited and adapted from How to Stay Well by Christian D. Larson. Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: True happiness enjoys all things deeply, but serenely. And you can always know when you have had such happiness, because it makes your countenance radiant with a restful beauty. To gain real happiness, the first essential is to train yourself to think constantly of the great value of happiness — especially with regard to its health producing power. Such thinking will tend to produce a subconscious desire for happiness, and what the subconscious begins to desire it also begins to create. Train yourself to think of happiness as a mental necessity (just as food is a physical necessity) and you will gradually train every element and force in your body to work for the creation of happiness. By creating within yourself a constant demand for happiness, you will inspire the elements of your own nature to produce the desired supply, and before long the happiness you desire will become a permanent part of your life. Christian D. Larson said, “Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle.” What is inside you that is greater than any obstacle you may wonder. Well, darling, it’s the very universe itself. That’s right, you and I consist of stardust, and we contain the power of the universe within. Never forget that and be greater than the obstacle you’re facing. LISTEN & ENJOY! Listen to episode 384 of the Inspirational Living podcast: How to Enlarge Your Mind & More Abundant Life. Edited and adapted from Thinking for Results by Christian D. Larson. Inspirational Podcast Transcript: The attitude of kindness is one of the greatest states of mind. Kindness enlarges our inner awareness, thus promoting the enlargement and expression of life. It also creates the tendency to give one's best, and there is nothing that brings forth greater life and power so quickly and completely as giving your best in all things and at all times. Both the soul and the mind, with all their powers and possibilities, tend to unfold themselves through the actions of a strong, whole-souled attitude of kindness. In fact, no one can begin to unfold a larger life and receive the greater richness from within until they begin to give (through the attitude of kindness) all that which they already have in their personality. And the more you give of the richness of your own life, ability, and power, the more you will receive from the limitless realms within you. However, giving is not giving unless it comes from the heart, and it must invariably be an act of expression for some great purpose. Your expressions, either of thought or action, will not open the way for inner unfoldment unless you give richly through a fuller and larger expression. And in all such expressions, you must feel kindly. Visit Our Sponsor Blinkist at Blinkist.com/living to start a free 7 day trial.

Da Christian D. Larson una splendida riflessione sul vero significato del credere in Dio.
Today we continue reading from Christian D. Larson and get some more insights into how all things that happen in our life can be an opportunity for experiencing joy. Even moments of adversity and hardship and disappointment can lead us to greater experiences of joy if we know where to look and what to do. We are the masters of our own joyful living.
There was just too much good stuff in Christian D. Larson's book that I couldn't contain it all in one episode so I made three! So we continue to read and discuss more ways to train ourselves to count all things joy. In this discussion we learn how to see every occasion and relationship as an opportunity for experiencing joy and bringing in more light and love into our own lives and thus making it possible for us bring more joy, light and love to others and into the world.
This is the first of a three part episode where I read from and share my insights and understandings from the book "The Ideal Made Real" by Christian D. Larson. All of our experiences no matter what they may be can truly be joyful if we train ourselves to Count it all Joy.

Listen to episode 320 of the Inspirational Living podcast: Thanksgiving | The Power of Being Grateful. Edited and adapted from Thinking for Results by Christian D. Larson. Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: Welcome to the Inspirational Living podcast. Wishing all of our listeners in the United States a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday. Taking time out to show gratitude for the blessings in our life is not only important on Thanksgiving, but all the year through. And, as for me, I’m grateful for all of you Today, I am going to replay one of my readings from the past year on the topic of gratitude and aspiration, which was edited and adapted from Thinking for Results by Christian D. Larson, published in 1912. The attitude of aspiration causes us to think of the marvels that lie beyond present achievement, and thereby inspires the creation of great thoughts. There must be great thoughts before the mind can become great, and the mind must become great before great results can be secured. Aspiration concentrates attention upon superiority and therefore elevates all the qualities of the mind into that state. This being true, every effort in life should be directed towards those possibilities that lie beyond our present achievements, if we wish to cultivate and strengthen an attitude of aspiration. When we are simply ambitious, we proceed as we are and seek to make a mark for ourselves with what power we already possess; but when we are alive with the spirit of aspiration, we seek to make ourselves larger, more powerful, and far superior to what we are now, knowing that a great light cannot be hid, and that anyone with great power must invariably reach the goal they have in view. The ambitious mind seeks to make a small light shine far beyond its capacity, and through this effort finally wears itself out. The aspiring mind, however, seeks to make the light larger and larger, knowing that the larger the light becomes the further it will shine, and that no strenuous efforts will be required to push its powerful rays into effectiveness.
Listen to episode 308 of the Inspirational Living podcast: Just Be Glad | Life is a Song. Edited and adapted from Just Be Glad by Christian D. Larson. Motivational Podcast Excerpt: Welcome to the Inspirational Living podcast. Today’s reading was edited and adapted from Christian D. Larson’s book “Just Be Glad,” a book which I also read a different selection from in last week’s episode of Our Sunday Talks. So, if you enjoy today’s reading and would like to hear more from Christian D. Larson, become our patron for as little as $3 a month to gain access to the Our Sunday Talk series. Learn more at LivingHour.org/patron. Thank you. Whether you believe that life was made for happiness or that happiness was made for life, matters not. The fact remains that they alone can live the most and enjoy the best who take for their motto — just be glad. Whatever comes, or whatever may fail to come, this one thing you should always remember — just be glad. Though every mind in the world may give darkness, continue to give your light; and though all may be lost, so there seems nothing more to give, forget not to give happiness. The one great thing to do under every circumstance and in the midst of every event is this — just be glad. Wherever you may be, add sunshine. Whatever your position may be, be also a human sunbeam. What a difference there is when the sunbeam comes in; therefore why should your sunbeam remain without? There is a sunbeam in every heart. Why hide it at any time? Does not the world need your smile? Is not everybody made happier and better when in the presence of a radiant countenance? Do we ever forget the face that shines as the sun? And does not such a memory continue to give us strength and inspiration all through the turnings and complexities of life? We are not here to give sadness, but joy. We were not made to hide our souls in a dark thunder cloud, but to let the spirit shine in all its splendor and beauty. We are made to make life an endless song, and the sweet refrain of that beautiful song is — just be glad. When things go wrong, just be glad. It is sunshine that brings forth the flowers from the cold and soggy earth. It is light-heartedness that lifts the burdens of life. It is the smile of human sweetness that dispels the chilly night of isolation and brings friendship and love to the bosom of the yearning soul.

Listen to episode 123 of the Inspirational Living podcast: Aspirations, Inspirations & Positive Thinking. Adapted from the book Your Forces and How to Use Them by Christian D. Larson. Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: Life is growth and the object of right thinking is to promote that growth. Give less time trying to change the opinions of others, and more time trying to improve your own life. Life becomes the way it is lived; and we may live the way we want to live when we learn to think what we want to think. Create your own thought and you become what you want to become because your thought creates you. We all know that we are as we think. Then we must think only such thoughts as tend to make us what we wish to be. The secret of right thinking is found in always keeping the mind's eye fixed upon the greater and the better in all things. Scientific research in the metaphysical field has demonstrated the fact we are what we think, that we become what we think, and that what we think in the present, determines what we are to become in the future; and also that since we can change our thoughts for the better along any line, we can therefore completely change ourselves along any line. But the majority of us who try to apply this law do not succeed to a great degree, the reason being that instead of working entirely upon the principle that we are as we think, we proceed in the belief that we are what we think we are. At first sight there may seem to be no difference between the principle that we are as we think and the belief that we are what we think we are, but close study will reveal the fact that the latter is absolutely untrue. You are not what you think you are, because personality, mentality, and character are not determined by personal opinions.... Listen to episode 80 of the Inspirational Living podcast: Do Your Best & Love Much. Edited and adapted from The Pathway of Roses by Christian D. Larson. Spiritual Podcast Excerpt: We have looked far and wide for the remedies to our problems, but in our search we have overlooked one of the greatest of all; and that is love. Not the love of the person; not mere sentiment or emotion, but that strong, spiritual feeling that makes every atom in your being thrill with the purest sympathy and the highest kindness; and that makes you feel that every creature in existence deserves your most tender care and attention. When everything goes wrong with us, we blame fate, environment, or the world. We forget that the world does to us what we have done to the world. When we blame the world for everything, the world will so act that it is to blame; but when we love the entire world with our whole heart, the world will change toward us accordingly and be kind. When you do not succeed, when no one seems to care for your service, or for your talents, there are two things to do: do your best and love much.
Listen to episode 60 of the Inspirational Living podcast: The Power of Spoken words. Adapted from Your Forces and How to Use Them by Christian D. Larson. Motivational Podcast Excerpt: In daily conversation, the law of constructive speech should be conscientiously applied. What we say to others will determine to a considerable degree what they are to think, and what tendencies their mental actions are to follow; and since we are the product of our thoughts, conversation becomes a most important factor in the development of ourselves and others. We steadily grow into the likeness of that which we think of the most, and what we are to think about depends largely upon the mode, the nature and the subject matter of our conversation. When conversation originates or intensifies the tendency to think about the wrong, the ordinary or the inferior, it becomes destructive, and likewise it tends to keep before mind the faults and defects that may exist in human nature. To be constructive, conversation should tend to turn attention upon the better side, the stronger side, the superior side of all things, and should give the ideal the most prominent place in thought, speech, or expression....
Listen to episode 52 of the Inspirational Living podcast: Living a Joyful Life Now: Motivation for Feeling Good. Adapted from The Ideal Made Real by Christian D. Larson. Motivational Podcast Excerpt: Every person desires to make the most of themselves, but to accomplish this all latent power must be awakened, and there is nothing that will bring forth our latent powers more thoroughly than the doing of what seems difficult. When you find yourself shrinking from certain tasks, you have discovered a weakness within yourself. Refuse to let that weakness remain in such a condition. Go and do what you feared to do and let nothing hold you back. In this way, the weak faculty will be made strong, and your entire nature will pass through a valuable discipline and training. Nothing is really disagreeable unless we think so. That is, we may approach the disagreeable in such a way that it ceases to be disagreeable. And the secret to doing this is: count everything joy. You may enter darkness and gloom, but if you are living in a world of brightness and cheer, that darkness will not be darkness to you, nor will gloom enter your mind for a moment. You can remain in your own happy world, no matter what may happen, no matter what may take place in your immediate environment. When you resolve to do certain things and proceed with a conviction that you will enjoy the work thoroughly, you will find real pleasure in that work. In addition, you will do the work very well. Pleasure comes from within, and when the fountain of joy within is overflowing, it will give joy to everything that exists about you. To cause this fountain within to overflow at all times, count everything joy at all times....
Listen to episode 50 of the Inspirational Living podcast: The Power of the Eternal Now (Living in the Moment). Adapted from How to Stay Young by Christian D. Larson. Spiritual Podcast Excerpt: The forces of the mind will create and express every quality or condition that is held in consciousness. This is one of the most important of all metaphysical laws, because it is principally through this law that you determine what your personal life is to be. A true conception of time is extremely important in placing the mind in the proper attitude towards the laws that govern your being; and this true conception is based upon the principle that time IS. Time neither comes nor goes. It is the movements of nature that come and go, not time. What we call time is but the now of eternity, and this now is eternally in the now; therefore there can be no passing of time. It is only in the now that you can live. You can live neither in the past nor in the future. You may think of the past or the future, but you can live only in the now. To train the mind to concentrate the whole of attention upon the great eternal now is to develop the consciousness of the "isness" of the now, and to consciously feel that its purpose is to eliminate the consciousness of age completely....
Listen to episode 629 of the Inspirational Living podcast: The Greatest Opportunity Open for All. Edited and adapted from The Ideal Made Real by Christian D. Larson.Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: The value of an individual life is not measured by the quantity of possessions, but by the quality of existence. The value of life comes not from having much, but from being much. And happiness is invariably a state of mind, coming not from what a person has, but from what they are. We must remember, however, that the person who is much will finally gain much, providing the powers in their possession are practically applied. And their gains will have high quality whether they be gains in the world of things, or in the world of mind, consciousness, and soul.--------Get the best of our podcast in book form by visiting: https://inspirationallifelessons.comGet our podcast with full transcripts and without ads by visiting: https://livinghour.org/patronSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/inspirational-living/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
If you missed my Success Mindset webinar with Blisspot on June 15th, you can watch a recorded replay at: LivingHour.org/webinarDue to temporary laryngitis brought on by Covid 19, today's episode is the rebroadcast of a reading from 2016. I should be able to resume new readings next week.Listen to episode 691 of the Inspirational Living podcast: The Ideal Made Real | Transformational Mindset. Edited and Adapted from The Ideal Made Real by Christian D. Larson.Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: To have ideals is not only simple but natural. It is just as natural for the mind to enter the ideal as it is to live. In fact, the ideal is an inseparable part of life; but to make the ideal real in every part of life is a problem, the solution of which appears to be anything but simple. To dream of the fair, the high, the beautiful, the perfect, the sublime, that everyone can do; but everyone has not learned how to make their dreams come true, nor realize in the practical world what they have discerned in the transcendental world. Listen to episode 675 of the Inspirational Living podcast: Building the Habit of Right Thinking | Positive Affirmations. Edited and adapted from How to Stay Well by Christian D. Larson.Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: Wrong thought is the root of all evil. Right thought is the cause of all good. The art of right thinking, therefore, becomes one of the highest arts in existence, and its attainment one of the noblest aims of the human soul. To think right is to think the truth. Therefore, the art of right thinking is cultivated by training the mind to think the truth. The average mind has been thinking wrong thoughts for so long that wrong thinking has become a habit — a very undesirable habit, as we all know. This habit we must overcome if we would have perfect health, happiness, and success. And the only way to overcome bad habits is to cultivate good ones. -----------Transform your life in 30 days with our MAJESTY meditation program: https://livinghour.org/majesty. Larson.Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: The grateful mind is constantly looking for the best — thus holding its attention upon the best and daily growing into the likeness of the best. The grateful mind expects only good things, and will always secure good things out of everything that comes. What we constantly expect, we receive. And when we constantly expect to get good out of everything, we cause everything to produce good. Therefore, to the grateful mind, all things will at all times work together for good, and this means perpetual increase in everything that can add to our happiness and welfare.--------Get the best of our podcast in book form by visiting: https://inspirationallifelessons.comGet our podcast with full transcripts and without ads by visiting: https://livinghour.org/patronSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/inspirational-living/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Listen to episode 553 of the Inspirational Living Podcast: Finding Your Place in Life | Personal Development. Edited and adapted from How the Mind Works by Christian D. Larson. *Inspirational Podcast Excerpt* : There is a belief among many that honest people ought to have the best that life can give. But the mere state of being honest is not sufficient. The best person in the world will be a failure if they do not employ their ability constructively — because it is doing things that counts. And to do things, the powers we possess must work in harmony and with a definite object in view. In this regard, we must not forget that a mind that is pure, honest, and just can accomplish far more with a given ability than one who does not have these virtues. Virtues do not create, but they do have the power to give proper direction to the process of creation. It is constructive ability that does things. Character simply guides the doing so that the product may be of the highest order and the greatest worth. -------- Support our upcoming short film One Thousand Cars at Night Looks Like a Moving Train. Resolve to be happy regardless of what comes. You cannot afford to be otherwise. Count everything joy. Meet everything in a spirit of joy, and expect everything to give you joy. By creating a cheerful world in your own imagination, you develop the tendency to a sunny disposition, and by meeting everything in an attitude of joy, you will soon meet only those things that naturally produce joy. Like does attract like. Much sunshine will gather more sunshine, and the happiest mind meets the most delightful experiences. When exceptions occur, pass them by as of no consequence, because they ARE of no consequence to you. You are interested only in happy events. Therefore, there is no reason whatever why you should pay any attention to the other kind. It is a fact that the less attention we pay to unpleasant conditions, the less unpleasantness we meet in life. That person who looks for the disagreeable everywhere, and expects to find it everywhere, will certainly find what they are looking for in most places, if not in all places. On the other hand, the person who expects only the pleasant will seldom find anything else. We attract what we think of the most.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/inspirational-living/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

WHEN things are not to your liking, like them as they are. In other words, while you are working for greater things, make friends with the lesser things, and they will help you to reach your goal. The person who is dissatisfied with things as they are, and discontented because things are not to their liking, is standing in their own way. Get add free podcasts with full transcripts, plus our spiritual series Our Sunday Talks by visiting LivingHour.org/patron. Thank you.I am indebted to Christian D. Larson for the pleasure of repeating the following inspiring truth, that is: “To simply think of an accumulation of energy within yourself will, if you are in a calm state, cause your energy to become stronger and stronger, until you feel that you are full of living powers. This method will also remove every condition of weariness, as well as threatened symptoms of every description. If you do not feel well, fill your system with new energy, and you will, even in a few minutes, feel like a new being."The reason why this works is that our nerve-centers are "centers of force," and the greatest problem which confronts us is that of using them intelligently. That wonderful power-house, the human body (together with its subtle inner forces), represent the capital with which we begin the business of living — a business in which we are all engaged — and it rests with us whether that business shall be profitable or otherwise.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/inspirational-living/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

And since you can change yourself and your actions, you can determine what your fate is to be.To change yourself, you must change your thought, because you are as you think; and to change your actions, you must change the purpose of your life, because every action is consciously or unconsciously inspired by the purpose you hold in view.------------Support our upcoming short film One Thousand Cars at Night Looks Like a Moving Train. Listen to episode 555 of the Inspirational Living Podcast: The Remarkable Power of the Human Mind Edited and adapted from How the Mind Works by Christian D. Larson.Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: There are many things that the human mind can do, and all of them are remarkable. But one of the greatest and most wonderful is the power of mind to see through things; that is, to cause the rays of its insight and discernment to pass through the problems of life just as the X-ray passes through opaque and tangible objects. When this power is highly developed, practically all mistakes can be avoided. The right thing can be done at the right time, and every opportunity can be taken advantage of when the psychological moment is at hand. We are all surrounded by possibilities that can never be measured, possibilities that, if employed even in a limited degree, would make life many times as rich and beautiful as it is now.----------Support our upcoming short film One Thousand Cars at Night Looks Like a Moving Train. Listen to episode 616 of the Inspirational Living Podcast: Manifesting Your Inner World to the Outer. Edited and adapted from The Ideal Made Real by Christian D. Larson.Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: To change your fate, begin with yourself. If the environment in which you live is beneath your ideal, nothing can be gained by leaving that environment until the way is opened naturally to better things. If you simply get up and leave, you will gravitate into something elsewhere that will be just as uncongenial as those conditions you left behind. First, find the reason why you are living in your present adverse environments, then proceed to remove that cause. There may be many reasons, but in most cases the principal reason is a lack of ability or power to apply the ability you possess. In such a case, you must remove inability by becoming more proficient, and as soon as you are competent to render better service, you will readily find a better place. This will mean larger remuneration, and you will thus be able to secure more desirable surroundings. --------Get the best of our podcast in book form by visiting: https://inspirationallifelessons.comGet our podcast with full transcripts and without ads by visiting: https://livinghour.org/patronSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/inspirational-living/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

You can make those surroundings better and better at every step in your advancement, thus making real higher and higher ideals in your life. Listen to episode 554 of the Inspirational Living Podcast: How the Mind Works | Law of Attraction. Edited and adapted from How the Mind Works by Christian D. Larson. *Inspirational Podcast Excerpt* : Through the law of attraction, we naturally meet in the external world what corresponds to our own internal world, that is, to what we are in ourselves. The self constitutes the magnet, and like attracts like. This inner self that constitutes the magnet is composed of all the active forces, desires, tendencies, motives, states, and thoughts that are at work in your mind or personality. When you look at everything that is alive throughout your whole being (and put all those things together) you have what may be termed your present active self. And this self invariably attracts in the external world such conditions as correspond to its own nature. This self (and all its parts within you) correspond to the thoughts that you have been creating in your mind. In fact, the nature of the self is actually composed of your thoughts, mental states, and mental activities. Therefore, when you change your thoughts, the nature of your inner self will change, and this change will be good or otherwise depending upon your changes of thought. Listen to episode 552 of the Inspirational Living Podcast: The Greatest Power Within You. Edited and adapted from How the Mind Works by Christian D. Larson. *Self-Help Podcast Excerpt* : Welcome to the Inspirational Living podcast. I have some exciting news about a beautiful, new short film that is going to feature audio from this podcast. The film is an irreverent story about a homeless man who stumbles upon an eccentric self-help program that guides him on his odyssey to become a fisherman. In addition to providing inspirational audio to the filmmakers, I am also one of the film’s producers. To learn more about this film project and our Kickstarter campaign, visit LivingHour.org/film ( https://livinghour.org/film ). Thank you. Today’s reading was edited and adapted from How the Mind Works by Christian D. Larson, published in 1912. The powers and possibilities that are inherent in the human mind are practically unbounded — for virtually no limit can be found to anything in human nature. The discovery that everything in human nature contains a latent capacity for perpetual development should give us a new conception of ourselves, a conception which when applied will revolutionize the entire sphere of our thought and action.
