From From Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable: Shangri La. The hidden Buddhist lama PARADISE described in James Hilton's Lost Horizon (1933). He based it on the myth of an earthly Buddhist paradise in Tibet called Shambhala, where people lived long lives and there. was no war or famine. In 1942 the name was adopted as a code name for the US aircraft carrier Hornet, from which the great air raid on Tokyo was launched on 18 April. In 1945 it was further applied by President Roosevelt to CAMP DAVID in order to avoid identifying its location. The name is now applied to any imagined earthly paradise or idyllic utopia, even (with a touch of irony) a suburban one. Stories begin around the 23:10 mark. And, because they made me do it, this is your reminder that #girlspoop Regular episodes of Radio FreeWrite will resume in September 2023.Check out our website for a featured story from this week's episode, and be sure to follow us on Instagram (if that's your sort of thing). Cue the synth brass and Yamaha DX7, it's The Final Countdown to One Shining Moment; two songs definitely not written by John Tesh. Or were they? Buckle up for part two of March Fabness, where a sweet sixteen of important figures across the Beatles universe battle it out for the 2022 Fifth Beatle Championship! Awesome, baby! The matchups are intense. Neil or Klaus? Mark or Marcia? Derek or The Dominoes? Rule of threes, or just keep going? Plus, Tony, T.J., and Producer Casey consider:

What's more exciting that March Madness? March Fabness, of course! You don't need to be Jay Bilas (or South Pacific's Luther Billis - #RayWalston) to play along with Tony, T.J., and Producer Casey, as they dramatically determine the 2022 Fifth Beatle Champion! Also, if your whole office isn't playing along with us, they have failed and you should quit your jobs immediately. Seriously, where are your priorities? Round one is filled with stunning, Cinderella-story upsets on the road to the title, and along the way, Beatleworld's Jim Pantz (#HelloFriends) and Steve Weirdo debate:

On the second (long overdue) 3D episode, we dive into an epic (and of course) essential album by the thin white duke.  We re-enlist the assistance of our "Fifth Beatle" Bill Hayse.  Not sure where the other two members are coming from, but you get it.  Bill is our third team member and his research on these 3D episodes is invaluable. Until the release of Ziggy, Bowie's releases had not had tremendous success. David had even explored being a mime, and was influenced, in a way, by Bob Dylan's acid dealer (now that's a tease)!  This album really introduced the world to David Bowie, and propelled him to mega-stardom.  Enjoy this fantastic discussion...it was definitely worth the wait.
