In this episode of "Women Creating Wealth," host Christine McCarron welcomes Lauri Kibby, a dedicated advocate for women's financial empowerment. Laurie emphasizes that while fix and flips can be creatively fulfilling, they are fundamentally a job with significant risks, unlike passive investing where money works for you. She cautions against the misconception that fix and flips are true investments for wealth building, highlighting the labor, stress, and market cycle vulnerabilities involved. Kibby, who runs the fund at Selene Brighthouse, advocates for real estate investments that offer both cash flow and long-term growth with moderate risk, allowing women to build their overall wealth without the hands-on work of flipping properties.

Christine McCarron is a real estate broker, investor, coach, author, speaker, mentor, and owner of The Beehive Coworking Community, who re-invented herself at the tender young age of fifty. She created a life for herself full of financial independence, financial freedom, and a renewed zest for life. She now helps women in the second half of life regain their own passion for life. She is also the host of The Women Creating Wealth podcast and the Get Your Fill podcast. Her book is titled “Empower Your Inner Millionaire.” Christine shares her story of living like a college student at the age of fifty, renting a room in a house with six other people in it. With no savings, and high credit card debt, she felt like she had no other options, especially at her age. Until she went to her Aunt Gert's 100th birthday party and had a mental head smacking moment. Aunt Gert was healthy, vibrant, and full of life, as she celebrated her birthday wearing a tiara and sash, engaging with everyone around her. That's when Christine realized that she had at least another fifty years ahead of her. And she was determined to make the most of it. Inspired by Aunt Gert, Chris began getting her life in order, got out of debt and began saving money, made her first real estate purchase, and from there she was off and running. And she was, and still is, unstoppable. She shares her story along with great tips and pearls of wisdom how we can all live like Aunt Gert in the second half of life, including how to be intentional with what are hopes and dreams are, not listening to society regarding what to expect from getting older, and the importance of having goals that keep us young, engaged, healthy, and vibrant, while we're having fun at the same time. Download this fun and information packed episode to learn how we can all live like Aunt Gert, because the best is yet to come! https://www.chrismccarron.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/beehivebrokerage/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aa2G7bQDjW4

Christine McCarron went from less than $0 to a 7-figure net worth starting at age 50, thanks to real estate investing. Through her coaching, courses, podcasts and books, she loves sharing what she's learned to help other women exceed their expectations and create a legacy. Chris McCarron has been involved in real estate on many levels for over 20 years, both investing in her own projects and helping others to find their dream home and to start investing. Her love of architecture and the challenges of restoration have prompted her to get involved in many rehab projects of her own and she loves working with clients on their projects. Her clients appreciate her attentiveness to their needs, taking the time to listen and really understand their priorities. She has a good eye for value and the ability to see beyond cosmetic issues in a home to help ambitious buyers find diamonds in the rough. This same ability safeguards inexperienced buyers against buying a house that may be beautifully staged but poorly constructed. She especially enjoys first-time home buyers. Their enthusiasm and delight in the home buying process is contagious! Christine has her Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeastern University. She is the host of two weekly podcasts: Women Creating Wealth and Get Your FILL, Financial Independence and Long Life and has created several online courses for new buyers at Mastermind.com. and WomenCreatingWealth.net In this episode Christine shares that she is a concurrent entrepreneur because she keeps on adding stuff, most of them are real estate focused. Do you really need a general contractor for your construction project? Why need one when you can save a lot of money by doing it yourself? That's what we'll find out in this week's episode of Women Creating Wealth.Last week, we had Ann McNeill from MCO Construction, and we talked about the best way to work with real estate contractors. And today, we're going to dive deep into it by weighing the pros and cons of working with general contractors (GC).With DIY home improvement videos on the rise and, of course, HGTV (who doesn't love this?), it's pretty tempting to go out there and do it yourself instead of paying a GC. But let me tell you this. You got to consider a lot of things before deciding on doing it your own vs. hiring a GC. You have to ask yourself…- Am I materially changing the space, or does it require permits?- How long is the project going to take?- Have I ever done something like this before?- Do I have the right connections to work with? So, tune in to today's episode as we answer those questions above and uncover the advantages and disadvantages of working with general contractors. If you're taking on a house renovation project or sprucing up your old place as an Airbnb rental, this episode could be exactly what you need right now to help you weigh things.Let's get started!--Key Takeaways:Introduction (00:00)Create a project plan first (00:44)Essential questions to ask yourself (01:32)Do you have unlimited time?
