There is this time between the archetype of the mother and the archetype of the crone sometimes referred to the wild woman years. It is also sometimes referred to as the virgin - not an as in uninitiated but more like a virgin forest - whole and unto herself. Our society teaches us to fear aging and to resist against it, but what if we embrace the power of this time?In this episode with Robin Shaw we talk about this and so much more. Robin is a bodyworker, yoga teacher and life coach practicing in Massachusetts, as well as online. She took a deep dive into the realms of the body, mind and spirit back in 1997, and has continued to be passionate about these pursuits ever since. She is a practitioner, teacher, coach and mentor to many, and finds that her synthesis of hands on work alongside movement, and talking through the questions, challenges, hopes and dreams of her clients has such powerful impact. Always coming back to the body for inspiration, understanding and wisdom, her work supports folks to find themselves more at ease and at the same time, inspired and motivated to be their full authentic selves. Oh boy, this is a can of worms. So BLACK HAWK DOWN was a pretty massive hit, and it arrived at a ... sensitive time. Which ... you know what, just listen, we're not going to get into the geopolitics in the episode description. But, you know, great special effects and early-'00s hunks! So there's that! This week's recommendations: Robin recommends ROBIN ROBIN (seriously, look it up on Netflix). Sean likes FRESH, THE EYES OF TAMMY FAYE and SAINT MAUD, and is torn on THE BATMAN. Kahmeela's on a TV kick, and thinks you should watch WORST ROOMMATE EVER and INVENTING ANNA.

Peter Lord founded Aardman Animations, with his school friend David Sproxton, in 1972. The Bristol-based company rapidly became known for its witty, character-driven, stop-motion work in Plasticine, giving the world characters such as Morph, Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep, as well as working on a dizzying array of feature films, shorts, TV shows, adverts, music videos, computer games, TV idents… Frankly the list goes on. The studio has won Oscars for the likes of Creature Comforts, The Wrong Trousers and Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. While Peter himself has been nominated himself on several occasions, including for The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists!. Aardman recently picked up yet another nomination for its short, Robin Robin. Peter was awarded a CBE in 2006 and received a Blue Peter Gold badge, no less, in 2015.In this bumper episode we talk about: meeting his partner David Sproxton at the age of 12; why Bristol became so important to Aardman; picking up Plasticine for the first time and why it's a transformative material; creating Morph; working with the legend that is Tony Hart; the genius of Nick Park; cracking Hollywood and wearing a jacket bought from Oxfam to the Oscars; the role technology plays in the studio's output; and turning the company into an employee-owned business.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/materialmatters?fan_landing=true)
