The holiday season isn't complete without the joy and nostalgia of Christmas movies. In this Building Better Developers 2024 Christmas Special, hosts Rob Broadhead and Michael Meloche share their favorite festive films and discuss how these timeless classics and modern hits add a little extra sparkle to the most wonderful time of the year. From iconic blockbusters to cozy Hallmark flicks, this episode celebrates the tradition of Christmas movies and the heartwarming connections they foster. Christmas Movies: Timeless Holiday Favorites Rob and Michael dive into the classics that have become must-watch holiday movies for families everywhere. These films capture the essence of the holiday spirit and continue to bring people together year after year. “Die Hard” - Love or debate it, Rob and Michael firmly include this action-packed thriller in their Christmas movies lineup. For Michael's wife, Rene, “Die Hard” officially starts the holiday season. “The Santa Clause” Series - This beloved series starring Tim Allen delivers the perfect mix of humor and heart. It has become a staple in many households during the holidays. “Elf” - A modern classic that has cemented its place as one of the most iconic Christmas movies. Will Ferrell's hilarious take on Buddy the Elf never fails to bring holiday cheer. “National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation” - With its comedic take on the chaos of the holidays, this film is a must for anyone who enjoys a good laugh with their festive spirit. Discovering New Christmas Movies for the Season In addition to traditional favorites, Rob and Michael highlight newer holiday movies that bring fresh takes to holiday storytelling. These recent releases and streaming hits are quickly becoming essential viewing: Netflix's “Christmas Chronicles” - This charming series blends Santa Claus magic with modern adventure. It's already a favorite for many families. “Red One” - This action-packed holiday movie may not have dominated the box office, but Rob and Michael believe it's destined to become a yearly favorite. Hallmark Christmas Movies - The ultimate feel-good tradition, Hallmark's endless supply of Christmas movies delivers simple joy and holiday cheer year after year. The Role of Christmas Movies in Family Traditions For Rob and Michael, watching Christmas movies is more than just entertainment. It's a way to connect with loved ones and build cherished traditions. From a family movie marathon of “Home Alone” to cozy evenings by the fire with popcorn and hot cocoa, these films create moments that embody the holiday spirit. Christmas Movies That Spark Nostalgia Some movies bring back memories of childhood and simpler times. Rob and Michael reflect on classics like “A Christmas Story” and “It's a Wonderful Life”: “A Christmas Story” - Famous for its iconic leg lamp and quotable lines like “You'll shoot your eye out!”, this nostalgic film holds a special place in many hearts. “It's a Wonderful Life” - A timeless black-and-white classic that Rob only discovered in his forties but now treasures as part of his Christmas tradition. The Feel-Good Magic of Christmas Movies One of the most endearing qualities of Christmas movies is their ability to uplift and inspire. Rob emphasizes how these films offer a much-needed escape from the stress of daily life. They help people relax and recharge during the busy holiday season. Whether through laughter, heartfelt moments, or a simple reminder of the magic of Christmas, these movies bring a sense of joy and comfort uniquely tied to this time of year. Wrapping Up the Christmas Movie Celebration As the episode concludes, Rob and Michael encourage listeners to embrace the season with their favorite Christmas movies. Whether it's revisiting classics like “Elf” and “The Santa Clause” or exploring new favorites like “Red One,” these films are more than just entertainment. They're a way to connect, reflect, and celebrate the joy of the holidays. So grab some popcorn, snuggle under a blanket, and let the magic of Christmas movies bring warmth and laughter to your holiday season. From all of us at Building Better Developers, happy holidays and movie-watching!

She goes into detail about how men worship her feet to the point that they will purchase her toenails and "foot dust", especially the left foot which is apparently smellier and full of pheromones, various requests for her underwear for sale, her collection of sub animals (dogs and cats currently, soon to be added by a horse) how she learned to hypnotize people, turn them into statues, wrap them as cocoons and various tales of genital torture which made Mark double over and moan just hearing them Santa talked about his challenges with the pandemic, what not to feed reindeer lest they get gassy, his own foot fetish which he described in detail and he had Mara ad Nicole sit on his lap. Have they been naughty or nice? You will have to listen to find out. Oh and Mara brought out a paddle and spanked Santa very hard...Ho! Ho! Ho! Mark and Josi celebrated the holidays with adult film superstar Cindy Starfall and the man himself Santa Claus. Cindy talked about growing up rich in Vietnam, how she discovered the joys of a shower head at age 11 which led her Nannys to be befuddled at her hour long showers, how she used to hike up her skirts while being the only Asian student in a Catholic school in Oregon, how she likes older men and running her hands in Santa Claus' beard, being busted by a HR directors son while working at a corporate job and doing webcams on the side, how she broke into the industry by doing African American adult films with such large men as Lexington Steele and how she always is thinking about sex even while in a traffic jam on the Freeway. Santa talked about how Mrs. Claus is not exactly a spinnerâ€, how Mrs. Claus and him have an understanding and he gets to visit his helpers all over the world, how his least favorite place to slide down the chimney would be Bakersfield, the proper Christmas gift to give the transsexual on your list and how his favorite places would be Las Vegas and Bangkok and how he was just in a commercial for an adult toy company. Of course no holiday special would be complete without Josi and Cindy sitting on Santa's lap, gifts were exchanged by all, and Santa did get a spanking for being naughty. After 10 years of outrageously hilarious shows The Dark Mark Show comes to an end with a bang as Mark and Nicole threw a holiday special like you've never seen before with contortionist/burlesque dancer/cosplayer Sin Twisted and Santa Claus. Sin talked about how Andy Dick once tried to bum rush her while she was onstage inside an R2D2 shell, talked about her experience with swingers' clubs and how erotic a pool game can get. How having a steady partner does not inhibit her from having a wild sex life and she teased Santa with her beautiful feet which led Santa to give her a foot massage and have fun between her splayed toes. Sin also brought out her pet python Noodles and let Nicole and Santa pet him as she described the care that goes into a snake and how she was able to do a From Dusk Til Dawn inspired dance during the pandemic. Santa may have had too much Fireball whisky, but he talked about how he has lost 70 lbs in the last year, how he is never invited to elf orgies, how wild his sex life may or may not have been before he met Mrs. Claus, how aroused he gets from the mothers who bring their children to see him at the mall and he had gifts for Sin and Nicole who sat on his lap (but not Mark, he must have been naughty this year) This is the last Dark Mark Show ever it seems (a declaration Mark made in 2015 as well). Sending a big thank you to everyone who ever watched and listened. Mark will be back in 2024 with something completely different. Stay tuned. Holiday cheer (and vegan Egg Nog laced with Fireball Whisky) was in the air as Mark and Nicole welcomed Elisa Jordana and Santa Claus to a fast paced and fun holiday party. Elisa was engaging with her fans on Livestream while the show was going on and her fans were typically unpredictable. She cleared up previous claims that she was asexual and detailed how she fell for Gabe Saporta the lead singer of Cobra Starship and ended up as the keytar player so she could be in front. She met Benjy Bronk on jdate and ended up joining him on The Howard Stern Show writing staff. She then was engaged to Andy Dick despite never having slept with him and his being flamboyantly and unapologetically gay. She talks all about these relationships, her beef with Stuttering John Melendez, getting hacked by her IRL fans, making over men and how she deals with friends and lovers talking bad about her on podcasts, her own show Kermit and Friends and much more. Santa had to deal with Elisa's friends calling him a “pedo”, doubting his validity and ethnicity as well as having bible verses thrown at him. He dealt with them with his usual charm and grace, talked about his beef with the Easter Bunny, having magical “keys” to everyone's house, how creepy it is that he knows when you are sleeping and determined whether Elisa and Nicole were naughty or nice. It's Christmas week here at MOVIEHUMPERS (soon to be called THE PROJECTORS) and we're hitting up another classic era Christmas romantic comedy. The farce gets pretty thick in today's discussion but the charm is consistent in this comedy of errors starring a beaming Barbara Stanwyck in Peter Godfrey's 1945 comedy “CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT”. Stanwyck plays Liz, a society gal who writes fictional first hand accounts of farm wife life. When a nice war hero, inspired by Liz's articles, wants to stay and visit then Liz has to figure out how to fake it all for the soldier and also her boss for fear of being fired. There's some contrived other plot points that thread this all together, including an engagement that Liz gets wrangled in to, but it's pretty hard not to feel the romance between the hunky sweet sailor and the society gal. Also starring Dennis Morgan, Sydney Greenstreet, Reginald Gardiner and S.Z. Sakall. If only she could tell him the truth and keep her job. I mean, she could. Why should her boss care? She's moving magazines ain't she? Stanwyck is a worthy comedic lead and this is one of the funnier of the Christmas Classics we've discussed. It is important to remember the true meaning of Christmas. In a world where one man has only seen 30 or so movies comes a desire to learn from a master. A master of film. A master of cinema. A master who has led such a sad life. Logan seeks the knowledge and he turns to his own personal “Yoda”; Keithie. Join Logan & Keithie on a wild adventure to discover as we watch along with a new movie each episode in THE MOVIE EDUCATION OF LOGAN CROSLAND. This episode, Logan & Keithie stir up a little holiday cheer with a true "Christmas Classic"; Scrooged. The boys check out Bill Murray's modern day turn with the Dickens' classic. Lots of fun talk about not only this movie, but other stuff as well. Spend at least 1 day of your 12 days of Christmas with us in the last day of school before your big break. Ho Ho Ho!!!
Not Today Jenn is finally Whamageddon'd by Eddie in the most devious way possible. The Grinch is a Christmas Classic, yes, the Jim Carrey one. You know what else is a great Christmas movie? You have to listen to the show to fins out. How important is "shared life experience" in a realtionship? The movie big was kinda gross. Finally, Eddie and the Wolf Pee meet. Also, Florida Man Friday!
Jazz songstress Antonia Bennett, the late Tony Bennett's daughter, has just released new holiday classics Christmas album "Happy Holidays, With Love".

Writer/director/producer Nancy Meyers joins us to discuss her cozy holiday classic, The Holiday. Masterfully shifting between sunny LA and the charming countryside of England, she discusses how the dual storylines made the crew feel like they were creating two different movies. With a focus on crafting female characters with "gumption," Nancy ensured that stars Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet not only represented modern womanhood, but also found perfect love interests in Jude Law and Jack Black, who shine as worthy partners. This lighthearted romantic comedy transformed into a holiday phenomenon, warming hearts across the world and becoming a must-watch holiday tradition nearly two decades later. Hosted on Acast. So it's Christmas time and whether or not you celebrate a holiday this time of year, it's hard to ignore that there is a lot of good, juicy loving kindness and beautiful juju coursing through the ether right now.[00:18] Let's take advantage of that and listen to a classic stress therapy episode, loving kindness during Christmas time. Relax and settle in and listen up because your stress therapy classic edition is about to be begin right now.[00:48] Hey, beautiful people. It's time for some stress therapy. A podcast about how to meditate and get better at stress for people living in the real world. Finally, a place to park my 25 plus years of experience of working as a psychotherapist in the mental health field.[01:03] And now your host, host me, the stress therapist, Sherry Flake.[01:22] Okay, y'all, I can't believe it. Beautiful people. But here we are. And we have been together 100 times. Can you believe it? It's so exciting. 100th episode, here we are.[01:34] And I think it's a really cool time. Whether you're Christian or not, whether you're celebrating some sort of religious holiday this month or holiday season or not, it's always a beautiful, wonderful time because a lot of people are and there's a lot of love in the air.[01:49] To examine the idea of one love, that we are all one love, that with respect to value, we are all exactly the same. We come from the human race. We come from this beautiful, beautiful earth.[02:03] And when we think about our sameness rather than our differences, things look better, we feel better. If I was able to open up your body and take out your beautiful soul, it would fill up the entire universe and more.[02:17] It would fill up galaxies and galaxies and light years and light years. That's how valuable and beautiful and lovely that you are. And you share that with all these other people.[02:28] And there is an opportunity here to feel connected rather than feel separate. To feel love rather than feel hate, to feel peace rather than feeling discord. And it's an awesome opportunity to be in the very moment that you're in because it is so beautiful.[02:47] And every single moment is a gift. And I know how cheesy I sound right now, and I don't even care because it's so good and it's so loving and it's filled to the top with juicy.[02:59] And if you want some of that, then you're going to have to spend some time in the sweet, sweet stillness. Paramahansa Yogananda said, live in the present. Launch yourself on every wave Find eternity in each moment.[03:14] The future will take care of itself. You don't have to worry about it. You don't have to change it. You just sit in your loving, beautiful present moment, this beautiful stillness, and you can find your future in being in the present.[03:32] Because nothing's going to happen in the future. It's all going to happen right now. And nothing ever happened in the past. It happened all right now, and you don't want to miss it.[03:41] And sometimes during this time of year, people say, oh, I can't believe it's crazy, you know? You know, this is one of my pet peeves. I can't believe it's Christmas.[03:47] I can't believe it's the holidays again. I can't believe it's the new year again. I can't believe 2023 is over. Whatever.[03:53] Maybe you can't believe it, but the reason why you can't believe it is because you're not spiritual spending any time in it. You're thinking about next week or this holiday party or this gift you need to get, or that person you need to acknowledge or this thing you need to do, or that cocktail dress you need to buy or whatever, rather than being in the very moment you're in.[04:12] And there is a juicy loveliness in doing that. And one of the ways that I like to think about how we can remember how we're all exactly the same, even though we don't think we are, okay, we all think we're extra special, extra horrible in some way, right?[04:25] Because we're attached to these ego identities.[04:28] But one of the ways is this cool hypothetical question. And the question is this. Imagine that you don't know anything about yourself. You don't know your age. You don't know if you're young or old.[04:39] You don't know if you live in the north or South. You don't know if you live urban or rural area.[04:45] You have no idea. You don't know how you look. You don't know if you're black or white or brown or man or woman or child or baby. You have no idea if you had to choose, though, who or what you might support based only on what you think is right.[05:05] Who or what do you think you would choose? And why Changes things a little, right? You don't know if you're rich or poor.

For many of us, Christmas songs are dominating our playlists this week. There's the one you start hearing in October, Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You," Eartha Kitt's "Santa Baby," and the Christmas banger that went to number one last year, Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree."Lee, now 80, recorded the song when she was 13. The living legend talked to NPR last year when her song — finally — hit number one. We revisit that conversation. Can you believe it's already December?? Our annual Christmas Series will feature a few unorthodox selections, just to keep things spicy. We'll start things with a 90s cult flick that might have slipped under your radar: The Long Kiss Goodnight, starring Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson. This spy action-comedy had top level stars, a premium screenwriter (Shane Black, who created the Lethal Weapon series), a veteran director (Renny Harlin, of Die Hard 2 fame), and yet it was a box office disappointment. Why was that? Has it gained a cult following since then? Most importantly: How is it as a Christmas movie?Find out the answers to all of those and more on this week's CInemavino!
