With special guest: Corey White… in conversation with Bill Kable Luckily for our guest today he always believed he was special. That belief was severely tested before too long. Corey White grew up knowing that his father was in jail and his mother was a heroin addict. Both parents disappeared from his early life and his life journey was about to become a roller-coaster with no guarantees. Corey is never one to sugar coat his experiences. He had to sell himself to totally unsuitable foster parent candidates in the hope they would take him in. Once in a family he was subjected to cruelty, dysfunction and in once case sexual abuse. At school he was bullied, it was all grim and he wasn’t even 10 years old. Podcast (mp3)

More than 20 million wet wipes are used every day in Australia. The traditional ones produced by foreign multinationals contain microplastics that don't break down and are toxic to the environment. In 2021, The Hygiene Co's Phil Scardigno and Corey White decided to take on the big players by manufacturing a plastic-free, bio-degradable product. The Adelaide-based compostable wipes – called CleanLIFE – are around half carbon-intensive than imported wipes. Hospitals have embraced the environmentally friendly alternative, helping to catapult this new Aussie manufacturer. Better than QandA is a new format live panel show that appeals to those who want to think deeply about the world today. Tonight's topic 'Impossible Conversations with Peter Boghossian' explores epistemology: how do you know what you know? After demonstrating multiple games of 'street epistemology' we will dive into the 'Sokal Squared' 'Grievance Studies Affair' where James Lindsay, Helen Pluckrose and Peter Boghossian successfully published hoax papers in peer-reviewed academic journals to demonstrate the intellectual corruption of academia. Panellists: Peter Boghossian joins us live, all the way from the USA. Peter is a Founding Faculty member at the University of Austin and the director of National Progress Alliance. His teaching pedigree spans more than 25 years and focuses on the Socratic method, scientific skepticism, and critical thinking. Peter's dissertation explored increasing the moral reasoning of prison inmates and aiding their resistance to crime. His most recent book is How to Have Impossible Conversations and his writing can be found in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Scientific American, Time Magazine, National Review, and elsewhere. His work is centred on bringing the tools of professional philosophers to a wide variety of contexts to help people think through what seem to be intractable problems. Flying in from Perth is Australia's most controversial comedian: Corey White. Transitioning from criminal lawyer to comedian, Corey has appeared at The Sydney Writers Festival, on Triple M, SBS, and at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. He's mic dropped on the SAS, police, "journalists", the legal profession and government approved comedians, with a swag of agenda fluid gags that are rigorously tested, safe and effective for all. Until 2023 he was Australia's most cancelled comedian for daring to raise impossible conversations. WBSRocks: Business Growth with ERP and Digital Transformation
Due to the proliferation of IoT devices in manufacturing environments, the number of access points prone to attack has increased significantly. And while the OT environments don't have as thicker the code base as the IT environment, OT environments are less secure than IT. The lack of education in how to write production-ready software and a greater push for efficiency have been the reasons why OT devices are more prone to attack with higher safety consequences. In today's episode, our guests, Corey White and David Cundiff from Cyvatar share their insights into how the tradeoffs for greater efficiencies and OEE may be driving cybersecurity issues in the OT environments. They also take a deep dive into a car manufacturer's story where they ended up losing millions of dollars due to a ransomware attack within 8 hrs of attack. Finally, they describe the mechanics of ransomware, how the codebase in OT and IT differ, and why OT devices are harder to secure and more prone to attacks than IT due to the lack of standardization and skillsets of OT operators. For more information on growth strategies for SMBs using ERP and digital transformation, visit our community at wbs.rocks or elevatiq.com. Corey White is a TEDx speaker and is the Partner and Senior Vice President of Future Point of View. In this podcast he sits down with Exchange host Heady Coleman to talk about the future of journalism, how saying yes can change the trajectory of your life and how our connection to information can make us better every day. 7:50 MIN The experience that ignited his interest in journalism (even though it was embarrassing). 10 MIN The state of local news is dire. There's a void that needs to be filled in journalism. The fourth rail of democracy is journalism and that's starting to crack. We must repair that so we can hold people in power accountable. 12:50 MIN A potential fix for the problems the news industry is facing right now. 14 MIN How Corey got involved with Future Point of View 16:30 MIN Future Point of View is a digital consulting firm. They help organizations use technology to benefit their customers, make them stronger and gain market share. They also educate leaders on how to use technology to strengthen their organizations. 17:45 MIN Journalism trains you to learn something and tell that story to others. That transitions to any job in any industry. 19 MIN Digital tools touch every area of your life. Everyone is a leader in their own space. Wherever you have influence, you lead. 23:10 MIN The leaders at Future Point of View are very community-minded. Being more involved in the community and saying yes to those opportunities can be transformative. 25:30 MIN Everyone enjoys sitting on the couch doing nothing. But when you begin to say yes and do things well, more people ask you to take on more responsibilities. 28 MIN What is algorithmic bias and how does it impact decisions? 31:30 MIN How saying yes to one opportunity led him to speak on the TEDx stage. You can start something and not see where it's ultimately going to go. 33:30 MIN The internet makes it easy to become an expert. You can research your way into a new opportunity. 36 MIN We have the unique opportunity to learn while we do almost anything else. Why waste time? Use your commute to learn something new. https://coreypatrickwhite.com/

Have you ever considered whether you are in truly in control of the social media and internet searches you consume? This is our most thought provoking interview yet.We are joined by Corey Patrick White, a technologist and futurist and a Partner and Senior Vice President of Future Point of View.Corey helps leaders to look out into the future and anticipate how technology will impact their organizations and themselves. He is focused in the areas of machine learning, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data privacy. This episode is Part 2 of a special 2 part series where Corey White and The Leadership Project founder, Mick Spiers discuss issues about technology that all modern leaders need to know. They explore the power (and dangers) of machine learning algorithms using social media and internet searches as key examples. It is the responsibility of all leaders to ensure that technology is embraced for virtuous purposes; ensure that technology is not used for malicious intent; AND to ensure technology does not have unintended negative consequences on society.Corey and Mick discuss how algorithmic bias impacts our daily lives and amplifies societal prejudices and bias making it increasingly more difficult to address unconscious bias, equity and equality in the world. They discuss the considerations a leader needs when approaching how to ethically use technology for good and avoid unintended outcomes.YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS!!!For more information on Corey Patrick White you see his ground breaking TEDx talk at - https://www.ted.com/talks/corey_patrick_white_how_algorithms_spread_human_bias His personal website - https://coreypatrickwhite.com and Future Point of View - https://fpov.com For more information on The Leadership Project you can find us at:LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-leadership-proj Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/TheLeadershipProj Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/theleadershipproj Twitter - https://twitter.com/leadershipproj1 Website - www.mickspiers.com YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPG9X7weoI4Xs3SreZab1rQ The full video of this interview will soon be posted on our YouTube Channel.
“In the best conversations, you don't even remember what you talked about, only how it felt. It felt like we were in some place your body can't visit, some place with no ceiling and no walls and no floor and no instruments” ― John Green, Turtles All the Way Down For Episode Two of our Black Hat coverage, we sat down for a chat with two Founders to see what their experience of Black Hat 2021 looked like. This was a raw, real conversation… no edits… no podcast host questions… just an ear into the types of conversations that we have missed out on over the past 19 months. Today's No Name Security Podcast sees Matt Stephenson joined by People By Mimi founder Mimi Gross and Cyvatar Co-Founder and CEO Corey White having a chat about all that is going on that week. We dig into what Cyvatar is doing to change the cybersecurity industry and how People By Mimi is changing the cybersecurity recruiting game with their approach to uniting people and companies by considering that releationship from a completely different POV. Think they don't have anything in common? Think again… check it out! About Mimi Gross Mimi Gross (@MimiGross13) is the Founder and CEO of People by Mimi. About Corey White Corey White is the Chief Executive and Experience Officer at Cyvatar. About Matt Stephenson Matt Stephenson (@packmatt73) leads the Social Media team at Forescout, which puts me in front of people all over the world. Prior to joining Forescout, I hosted podcasts, videos and live events all over the world which put me with experts on every corner of the cybersecurity landscape. The new No Name Security Podcast will continue and expand upon that tradition as we seak out the leading minds in the security industry as well as those may break things every now again. And… just for fun, there will be some wildcard guests as well. In 10 years in the ecosystem of Data Protection and Cybersecurity I have toured the world extolling the virtues of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and how, when applied to information security, these technologies can wrong-foot the bad guys. Prior to the COVID shutdown, I was on the road over 100 days a year doing live malware demonstrations for audiences from San Diego to DC to London to Abu Dhabi to Singapore to Sydney. One of the funniest things I've ever been a part of was blowing up a live instance of NotPetya 6 hours after the news broke... in Washington DC... directly across the street from FBI HQ... as soon as we activated it a parade of police cars with sirens blaring roared past the building we were in. I'm pretty sure they weren't there for us, but you never know... Whether at in person events, live virtual events or podcasting, I get to interview interesting people doing interesting things all over the world of cybersecurity and the extended world of hacking. Sometimes, that means hacking elections or the coffee supply chain... other times that means social manipulation or the sovereign wealth fund of a national economy. Wherever I go, my job is all about talking with the people who build, manage or wreck the systems that we have put in place to make the world go round... If you tuned in to any of my previous podcasts, there's great news! The No Name Security Podcast is here! I will be bringing the same kind of energy and array of guests you know and love. Best part? We're still at the same spot. You can find it at Spotify, Apple, Amazon Music & Audible as well as, GooglePlay, Gaana, Himalaya, I Heart Radio and wherever you get your podcasts! Make sure you Subscribe, Rate and Review!

Tanner ""The Bulldozer" Boser is a rising contender in the UFC Heavyweight division who has had 5 UFC fights. Tanner has a great and fun loving personality and we enjoyed our time with him. The UFC has scheduled a fight for June 5th for Boser against Illir Latifi the Swedish Heavyweight of Albanian descent. We spent a lot of time getting to know Tanner and were able to find out a lot of great things about his life. We have mutual friends in the band ShoCore and we thank Corey White and the band for helping us make this podcast episode happen! A lot of people and especially Canadian Mixed Martial Arts fans have been seeing a huge progression in Tanner with his strength and conditioning and his career. He has now become more well known off two big Knockouts in a one month span in the UFC Heavyweight Division. He has some of the best footwork in the division and has lethal leg kicks. His candor and no nonsense way about him has endeared him and helped contribute to his increasing popularity. He has a mullet, long beard and is missing one of his front teeth and that seems to appeal to many fight fans. We found him gracious and forthcoming as he talked about his life, career and even tough topics. We hope that you enjoy his conversation with us and you become fans of his as much as we have. There are a lot of stereotypes when it comes to Canadian's and Albertan's and he checks many of the good boxes when it comes to where he is from. He has led a typical life in some regards but luckily has had some great people in his life to help him achieve his goals and dreams. He started working at his Mother's gym and was able to start learning Jiujitsu and Karate at a very young age. He decided to leave his small home town of Bonnyville at 21 years of age to get more MMA training and opportunities. He has now travelled the world to countries like Russia, Kazakstan, South Korea, Australia, England, Abu Dhabi and Dubai and of course the US and Canada to fight and pursue his MMA career. His adventures and jouney have shaped his life and career and we are glad that he has emerged as a great contender and he is a big success story from Canada.

Me Myshelf and I, as novelists Jessie Burton and Dominic Smith (The Electric Hotel), and comedian Corey White, reveal the books and reading that has shaped them
A childhood of abuse and neglect led Corey to an unusual place - the stage. His wit and resilience make his stand-up comedy sharply observed and darkly humorous
Corey White was a golden child. He knew this because his father would hit his mother and his sisters but not him. And his mother adored him so much she let him drop out of primary school. After losing his father to jail and his mother to heroin, though, he became a target for cruelty and dysfunction in foster homes. A scholarship to a prestigious boarding school lifted him out of foster care and awakened a love of learning and reading for him, but this was soon overwhelmed by a crushing depression and drug addiction. Through it all, he kept thinking – sometimes hoping, sometimes fearing – that he was destined for something bigger. Would he find salvation in the halls of a university, or a poetically grimy crack den, or through love? Or would the golden glow that had been in him since childhood ultimately fade, leaving only darkness and ruin? The Prettiest Horse in the Glue Factory is a memoir of trauma and survival that will break your heart and then show you how to rebuild it. It is a powerful, lyrical and darkly funny debut from one of Australia’s brightest young comedians. ‘Equal parts hilarious and horrifying, Corey’s story is one of the most powerful I have ever read.’ Wil Anderson ‘Look back in anger. Look around in acceptance. Look forward in love. Harrowing, and yet hopeful.’ Tim Rogers

Corey White came to prominence for his dark humour, mining his traumatic childhood for material. Now he's written a memoir of his life, and while he is still young, he's lived many extremes already. From a family life full of domestic violence and drugs, to a traumatic experience in the foster care system, to private school and the heady success of a career in comedy. But The Prettiest Horse in the Glue Factory is not all grim. In this interview, Corey explains how he lives with his past and shares his thoughts on the nature of evil.
Corey White is a comedian and writer with a pretty remarkable personal story. His memoir The Prettiest Horse in the Glue Factory is a funny, dark and brutally honest account of being raised in a violent working class home, being put through the harsh foster care system, struggling with issues of sexual identity and drug addiction and eventually becoming the comedian and man he is today. Here, Corey and I compare notes on our very different childhoods and discuss issues of class, being a member of the lumpenproletariat, the welfare state, outrage, the case for a UBI and "fusionism". We laugh a lot throughout. Woahhh how cool you can support this show by becoming a Patron please radical, man!
