MCT Öl gilt als schneller Energielieferant. Ein Esslöffel im Kaffee soll genügen, um den Stoffwechsel effizienter arbeiten zu lassen, die Konzentration zu steigern und Fett direkt in Energie umzuwandeln. Kaum ein anderes Fett wird derzeit mit so klaren Leistungsversprechen beworben. Doch hinter diesem Trend steckt weniger Magie als ein besonderer biologischer Mechanismus. MCT steht für Medium Chain Triglycerides, also mittelkettige Fettsäuren. Entscheidend ist ihre Kettenlänge. Im Fokus stehen vor allem C8 und C10 Fettsäuren, Kaprylsäure und Kaprinsäure. Sie kommen natürlicherweise unter anderem in Kokosfett und in Muttermilch vor, dort jedoch eingebettet in ein komplexes Nahrungsgefüge. Als isoliertes Öl werden sie heute gezielt eingesetzt, um einen bestimmten Stoffwechselweg zu nutzen. In diesem HEALTH NERDS Deep Dive ordnen Podcast Host Felix Moese und Gesundheitswissenschaftler Matthias Baum die biochemischen Besonderheiten von MCT Öl ein. Der zentrale Unterschied liegt im Verdauungsweg. Während langkettige Fettsäuren Galle, Enzyme und den Transport über das Lymphsystem benötigen, werden mittelkettige Fettsäuren deutlich schneller aufgenommen. Sie gelangen direkt über die Pfortader zur Leber und werden dort rasch oxidiert. Dieser Weg erklärt, warum MCT Öl schneller Energie bereitstellen und die Ketonkörperproduktion erhöhen kann. Damit unterscheidet sich MCT Öl klar von klassischen Nahrungsfetten. Die schnelle Verfügbarkeit bedeutet jedoch nicht automatisch Fettabbau. Der Einfluss auf Körpergewicht und Fettmasse ist gering und immer an die Gesamtenergiebilanz gekoppelt. Auch MCT liefert neun Kilokalorien pro Gramm. Übelkeit, Bauchkrämpfe oder Durchfall sind keine Seltenheit, wenn der Einstieg zu schnell erfolgt. Evolutionär betrachtet war der menschliche Stoffwechsel zwar immer mit mittelkettigen Fettsäuren konfrontiert, jedoch nie in isolierter, hochkonzentrierter Form. Genau diese fehlende Einbettung erklärt, warum Geschwindigkeit für den Stoffwechsel sowohl Vorteil als auch Belastung sein kann. Wann kann MCT Öl sinnvoll sein? Etwa bei eingeschränkter Fettverdauung, bei bestimmten ketogenen Ansätzen oder als gezielte Energiequelle für das zentrale Nervensystem. Explore a complex case of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, double crush, & triple crush injuries. Learn about diagnosis, treatment, & patient support. Q: Overview of Neck, Nerve, or Both? A: My wife experienced numbness in her upper extremities. As an athletic trainer (AT), I initially suspected Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS). She eventually sought medical attention and was diagnosed with TOS. Conservative treatment, including medication and a home exercise program, was recommended. However, therapy seemed to worsen her symptoms. An MRI of the vascular system came back normal, except for a benign thyroid mass. A cervical MRI revealed stenosis in C5, C6, and C7, which, when combined with her other symptoms, provided clarity. I consulted a spine surgeon, who advised exhausting conservative options before considering surgery for insurance coverage. My wife, who has a fear of anesthesia, opted for pain management and received injections. An EMG to rule out carpal tunnel syndrome indicated 70% carpal tunnel involvement. An upper extremity specialist diagnosed a double crush injury, meaning nerve compression at two sites. She underwent left-side carpal and cubital tunnel release, followed by a two-level cervical fusion. Post-surgery, she regained sensation in her pinkies. The right side was subsequently treated. She experienced relief for about a year before numbness recurred. Another round of CT, MRI, and EMG scans returned normal. Pain management suggested a shoulder issue, leading to an MRI of the shoulder. While the report mentioned a slight rotator cuff tear, a physician who reviewed the scans deemed her shoulder pristine. This doctor’s examination of her neck, however, exacerbated her symptoms, leading to a diagnosis of lower brachial plexus TOS. Despite my initial concern about the previous treatments, the doctor affirmed that the cervical fusion was necessary. A C8 nerve block did not provide relief but offered further diagnostic information. We were then referred to a specialist in Dallas, where a diagnostic nerve block in the scalenes provided immediate relief. Months later, Botox injections were administered for extended relief. The doctor’s words, “How does it feel to not be crazy?” significantly validated her experience. She then underwent a first rib removal on the left side, which resulted in an 11-day hospital stay with complications including two chest tubes, a needle aspiration, and 100cc of fluid in the pleural cavity. Upon returning home, she began physical therapy but developed shortness of breath with deep breaths due to a costochondral fracture, likely from the chest tube or aspiration. She is currently awaiting a consultation for ultrasound injections to address this. The journey continues. Q: What inspired you to share this story? A: The primary motivation was to share the complex journey and its takeaways. This case involved a “triple crush” — compression at the first rib, cubital tunnel, and carpal tunnel. A key takeaway is the importance of acknowledging when you “don’t know, but know the next step.” In healthcare, we often focus on obvious issues, but a broader perspective is often needed before returning to specific concerns. It’s also crucial to acknowledge the psychological toll on patients without answers, highlighting the profound impact of chronic pain. Q: You mentioned how emotionally draining the journey was. What advice do you have for clinicians to support patients? A: Remind patients that recovery is an “ultramarathon, not a sprint.” Reinforce this message, as other healthcare professionals will likely echo it. Sometimes, when my wife is in pain, she doesn’t want to discuss it, and that’s acceptable as long as I am there to support her. The doctor’s validation, “How’s it feel to not be crazy?” significantly improved her emotional well-being. Supporting patients in seeking further opinions is also vital. Q: Overlapping issue on a personal level, how did you navigate the multiple diagnoses? A: My ability to navigate this well stems from my access to top medical professionals through my profession. My connections as an athletic trainer allowed me to consult doctors and seek referrals. While they may not know specific TOS treatments, they can guide us to the appropriate specialists. Q: Any difficulties separating the Athletic Trainer (AT) role from the husband role? A: There were no difficulties in separating the AT from the husband role. My wife knew me as both from the beginning of our relationship, so there was no separation or conflict. Los más fieles al canal os habréis dado cuenta de una cosa: Pese a mi enorme afición, no soy especialmente amante de los superdeportivos. Me da la sensación de que no son coches “reales”, sino exagerados, demasiado exagerados… y muchas de estas marcas y estos modelos de “super deportivos” han sido verdaderos “super fracasos”. Voy a ser “políticamente incorrecto”: Muchos de estos superdeportivos de marcas con ninguna tradición, son oportunistas, me parecen tirando a “horteras”, con poco gusto y destinados a un público poco entendido, a los llamados “nuevos ricos”. Nuevos ricos, entre los que se pueden encontrar, si nos dejamos llevar por los tópicos, raperos, mafiosos rusos, jeques árabes, “regetoneros” o jugadores de fútbol, entre otros personajes, todos ellos con más dinero que cultura del automóvil y-o buen gusto…. Se supone que un super deportivo, para que tenga éxito, deber cumplir estas condiciones: - Un diseño llamativo, ¡ojo! Llamativo más que bonito, que haga girar cabezas. - Un motor, a ser posible, de potencia exagerada, con muchos cilindros y unos cuantos turbos. Generalmente, lo toman “prestado” a otra marca. - Prestaciones de infarto… que nunca vas a poder disfrutar en carretera, ni en muchos casos, en circuito. - Y un precio alto… porque para este tipo de público un precio muy alto, lejos de ser un inconveniente, es una ventaja. Es como decir a los demás: Tú, pobre mortal de mierda (pitos) no podrías pagar este coche ni en diez vidas que vsvieses. Y luego resulta que, aunque cumplas todas estas condiciones, te arriesgan a fracasar… es más, la mayoría fracasa. Porque la magia, el renombre, la tradición, la imagen de marcas como Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini o Porsche, por citar solo algunas, no se improvisan… son fruto de una larga historia. Dicho todo esto: Algunos de estos coches me gustan. Algunos no tuvieron éxito comercial, pero si en competición y otros, sencillamente, me parecen un timo. Y antes de empezar con nuestra lista de, no podía ser de otra manera, 12+1 marcas y modelos, quiero recordar que este video fue idea de un seguidor que firma RomLopez-jv3js . Si no os gusta es culpa suya. 1. Aixam Mega. Imagínate a un fabricante de micro coches sin carnet que un día que le ocurre la “feliz idea” … ¡pon comillas por favor” … de fabricar un super deportivo de alto rendimiento con ciertas cualidades de TT, algo así como un super deportivo SUV… 2. Bricklin SV-1. En los 70, los norteamericanos compraban coches deportivos llegados de Europa y Japón. Por otro lado, Canadá apenas tenía industria automotriz. Y al millonario Malcom Bricklin se le ocurrió hacer un super deportivo “Made in Canadá”. 3. Bugatti EB110. Solo se construyeron 180 coches entre 1992 y 1995, la marca quebró en 1997 y poco tiempo después Bugatti es comprada por el grupo VW. 4. Cizeta Moroder V16T. Al productor musical Giorgio Moroder, ganador de un Oscar, un Countach le sabía a poco. Así que este modelo es el fruto de su imaginación porque los 12 cilindros de los Aston Martin, Ferrari o Lamborghini, le parecían pocos y pensó en un V16. 5. DeLorean. Si no es por la famosa trilogía de “Regreso al futuro”, películas en las que el DeLorean interpretaba una máquina del tiempo, este modelo hubiese pasado sin pena ni gloria. 6. Dome Zero. El Dome Zero que fue presentado en el Salón de Ginebra de 1978 con la intención de llevarlo a producción. Sin embargo, nunca consiguió la homologación para circular por las carreteras japonesas. 7. Fisker Karma. La marca llegó al mercado con el Karma, un hibrido de 405 CV y luego se ofreció como modelo 100% eléctrico. Actualmente acaba de presentar el modelo Revero, casi idéntico al Fisker Karma… y que es de esperar que también fracase. 8. Isdera Imperator. Lo confieso, por este modelo tengo simpatía. Fijaos en las imágenes…. No lleva retrovisores… y es que usaba un periscopio como retrovisor… me gustaría saber que tal funcionaba eso. 9. Lotec C1000. Este modelo es un coche único diseñado por Mercedes y Lotec. La única unidad fabricada fue vendida a un magnate del petróleo de los Emiratos Árabes Unidos. 10. Mosler Automotive. Hablamos de una marca norteamericana que, si bien no ha tenido gran éxito en las ventas, lo tuvo algo mayor en los circuitos. 11. Spyker C8. Presentaron el C8 en el Salón de Birmingham de 2002, construyeron centenares de coches, compraron la escudería de F1 Midland que convirtieron en Spyker F1, más tarde compraron Saab a GM … pero la crisis financiera de 2008 hizo que tomaran decisiones muy duras, hasta su declaración en quiebra en 2014. 12. Vector W8. El joven diseñador Gerald Wigert creó esta marca en los 70. Su objetivo era desarrollar superdeportivos muy rápidos y cada año se elevaba el precio de sus coches… ¡incluso cuando no habían empezado a fabricarse! 12+1. Zender Fact 4. A este coche le cabe el honor de ser el primer coche legal para circular por carretera cuya carrocería está fabricada en fibra de carbono. Conclusión. ¡Que queréis que os diga! Me gustan las marcas que han creado mitos, que son parte de la historia, que tienes su propia historia. Pero admiro enormemente a estas personas que deciden hacer el coche de sus sueños… triunfen o no, tienen un gran mérito.

Vendredi soir, la chaîne du groupe Bolloré, ainsi que NRJ12, va arrêter d'émettre, l'Arcom ayant décidé en juillet dernier de ne pas renouveler leurs fréquences. Avant cette sanction finale, le régulateur de l'audiovisuel français, avait multiplié les mises en garde, mises en demeure et amendes contre C8. Depuis une dizaine d'années, le talk-show a enchaîné les déclarations ou les gestes problématiques…. Pour l'Arcom, C8 a manqué à deux de ses obligations : le respect de la vie privée et la lutte contre les discriminations.Mais l'extinction de C8 a été critiquée par des politiques de droite et d'extrême droite, de Laurent Wauquiez (LR) à Marine Le Pen (RN). De son côté Cyril Hanouna dit avoir reçu quatre propositions. Il n'en cite que deux : rester dans le groupe Canal Plus, pour une quotidienne sur CStar, en plus de son émission sur Europe , ou partir chez M6, qui lui offre un créneau sur W9 et sur Fun Radio. Avec une obligation : ne plus parler de politique, revenir à du pur divertissement.Fin du suspense au cours d'un prime-time exceptionnel, ce jeudi soir : à la fin de l'ultime numéro de TPMP, Hanouna montera dans un bus avec ses chroniqueurs, et en descendra devant le siège de son nouvel employeur. Il a cependant livré deux autres "destinations" possibles pour l'après C8 : "chez moi", a-t-il dit, ce qui "voudra dire que je vais monter moi-même ma chaîne", ou "autre chose. Peut-être, pourquoi pas, 2027", semblant indiquer qu'il réfléchit à une candidature ou à un rôle quelconque lors de la prochaine élection présidentielle.

A moins d'un ultime rebondissement, grâce à une décision du Conseil d'État qui viendrait invalider la décision de l'Arcom, l'avenir d'Hanouna et de C8 semblent bien scellés. Retour en 2012. Cette année-là, le milliardaire Vincent Bolloré veut changer l'image de sa chaîne C8. Il fait donc appel à un animateur qui officie alors sur France 4, avec l'émission « Touche pas à mon poste » : Cyril Hanouna. Rapidement, il devient le visage de C8. Mais dans les années qui suivent, l'animateur se fait aussi remarquer pour ses multiples dérapages à l'antenne, qui valent à C8 de lourdes sanctions de l'Arcom. Durant l'été 2024, le gendarme de l'audiovisuel décide finalement de suspendre la fréquence de C8.
