Enterprise Ireland Irish medtech client company Aerogen today announces details of a €300 million transformational scaling and investment plan, which will result in the creation of 725 new jobs in Ireland over the next 10 years. Aerogen is Ireland's largest indigenous medtech company and Enterprise Ireland's largest client company in the sector having firmly established itself as the world leader in acute care aerosol drug delivery. This announcement was made in conjunction with Enterprise Ireland's End of Year Results for 2024, which confirms that total employment at companies supported by the agency increased to a record 234,454 last year, with 15,741 new jobs created. 64% of the new jobs created in these client companies were located outside the Dublin region, with all nine regions recording job growth. Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Peter Burke was on site in Galway to preside over Aerogen's growth announcement and deliver Enterprise Ireland's results. "The government, through Enterprise Ireland, is targeting ambitious scaling of Irish multinationals that will help drive the Irish economy and our competitive advantage forward. Aerogen's announcement today is evidence of that Irish multinational ambition in action, and we are delighted to support them on their patient-focused mission. Commenting on the positive employment growth figures recorded by companies supported by Enterprise Ireland, Minister Burke said, "It is hugely positive to see Enterprise Ireland-supported companies recording job growth for the fourth year in a row. 2024 was a challenging year for some sectors of exporting Irish businesses with high interest rates and international instability impacting business performance, so to record significant employment growth is even more impressive. Today's announcement that Aerogen will implement an ambitious scaling plan, creating high-quality jobs here in the west of Ireland, is very welcome and demonstrates the continued success of Irish companies' performance in export markets. The University of Galway is through to the Semi-Final of the Fitzgibbon Cup after a comfortable 4-24 to 1-14 win over MTU Cork in Dangan yesterday evening. They will play in the Semi-Final next Thursday. Here is the commentary of the game with Niall Canavan and Sean Walsh. We also hear from defender Darren Morrissey and Manager Jeff Lynskey. 

Defending league champions University of Galway go up against fierce rivals University of Limerick on Friday (15th December 2023) in the Higher Education Division 1 Hurling League Final. It's a repeat of this year's Fitzgibbon Cup decider when the Munster team prevailed by 4-19 to 1-13.  They also met during the round-robin series this campaign with the Shannonsiders prevailing by 0-23 to 0-18. Galway still have 11 starters from that team available this season though county commitments will rule some out of this league final. Das konnten wir uns nicht entgehen lassen.Sabu zeigt uns einen jungen Mann, der eine Bank überfallen will, aber bereits davor als Ladendieb scheitert und fliehen muss, der Verkäufer verfolgt ihn durch die Straßen von Tokio, aber auch der Verkäufer wird bald verfolgt – von einem Yakuza, der mit ihm eine Rechnung offen hat. Alle drei Männer sind jeder auf seine Weise gescheitert. Die merkwürdige Verfolgungsjagd der drei Männer gerät zwischen die Fronten, als zwei Yakuzabanden und die Polizei gegeneinander antreten.Taxi-Driver-Zitate, spannungstreibende Musik und eine kreative Kamera fallen positiv auf, auch, dass die Verfolgungsjagd am Ende transzendiert und ihren eigenen Sinn aufhebt. Anstrengend – wie immer, wenn Yakuza im Spiel sind – ist das ständige, sinnlose Anbrüllen und das unvermeidliche gegenseitige Abschlachten der Männer. Das Beste an DANGAN RUNNER ist, wie Sabu diese toxische Männlichkeit vorführt und wirklich allen Männern in diesem Film die Hosen der fragilen Männlichkeit herunterlässt. Regisseur SABU dreht seinen Erstling in einer Zeit, die als Umwälzung für das japanische Kino gesehen werden kann. Neue Filme werden direkt für das Fernsehen oder die Videotheken gedreht, Kosten gespart und das Publikum immer häufiger an die amerikanische Unterhaltungs-Konkurrenz verloren. Zugleich bricht wirtschaftlich so langsam die Rezession durch und gesellschaftliche Sicherheiten und Strukturen brechen immer weiter auf bzw. ein. Neben Regisseuren wie Kitano oder Miike, die Genre-Strukturen neu rückbinden oder kritisieren, kommt auch ein aufregender, unterhaltsamer und frischer Independent-Film auf, der sich von klassischen japanischen Genres lösen will. Hier setzt auch DANGAN RUNNER an, der zwischen Tragödie und Komödie, klassischen japanischen Figuren und amerikanischen Rollenmodellen mit ihrem starken Individualitätsversprechen changiert. Gedreht wird mit viel echtem Licht, on location, teilweise ohne Drehgenehmigung – das Ergebnis wirkt frisch, neu und anders, auch weil es das junge Publikum wieder abholt: in den neuen wirtschaftlichen Unsicherheiten, in einer Welt der Verweise zwischen West und Ost, und, ganz wichtig, in einem Bemühen, das neue Japan und die Ansprüche der Traditionsgesellschaft gleichzeitig abzubilden, die Unmöglichkeit des modernen Menschen, beide „Welten“ unter einen Hut zu bringen, spürbar zu machen. Da bleibt es dem gescheiterten Stadtmenschen nur noch zu rennen…
