Voices of Search // A Search Engine Optimization (SEO) & Content Marketing Podcast
Dmitrii Kustov, Managing Director at Regex SEO, looks into technical SEO. Google's search ranking algorithms have evolved significantly in recent years, with a shift towards relying on artificial intelligence (AI) to determine the best results for users. While the algorithms used to be predetermined by engineers, they now use a variety of signals and metrics to determine the most relevant and useful results. Today, Dmitrii discusses what Google engineers don't want you to know about rankings. Dmitrii Kustov, Managing Director at Regex SEO, looks into technical SEO. At its core, search engine optimization is about optimizing a website to rank well in search engine results and provide a good user experience. While many SEOs try to separate the two concepts, Google and other search engines will continue to highlight the websites that take a holistic approach to website design. Join host Michael Brooks as he delves into the dynamic world of entrepreneurship on this episode of our Internet talk show. In today's engaging conversation, we explore the intriguing intersections of AI and SEO with our guest, the passionate and experienced Dimitri.
Dmitrii founded a fully remote marketing agency that allows its employees to work wherever in the world they want. Even more revolutionary - he allows his employees to work their own schedule that best suits their lives. This “freedom of work” system maximizes employee happiness, productivity, and quality of work. Dmitrii started RegexSEO as a physical office based out of Houston, Texas. After covid he had to decide whether they: go back to the office, create a hybrid system, or go fully remote. As a business owner, it was much cheaper to run his company remote, AND even more importantly, his employees were enjoying their lives more. He realized that “the only un-renewable resource is time.” He wants to create a world in which every working professional has enough time to do what's important to them, whether that be travel, spending time with family and friends, or simply working at a pace that best suits them. His company also gives “recharge days” every month designed for employees to get some headspace and come back to work rested and inspired. Lastly they have a yearly meetup somewhere in the world where they get to see each other and collaborate. Dmitrii realizes that employees are happier and more productive when they can work on their own schedule. So, he fully entrusts his employees to “get their job done” on the schedule that best suits their needs. So that means if you're a morning person, you can work early and quit early. If you're a night person, you can start late and finish late. If you hate afternoons, you can take a mental break for a few hours after lunch. As a bonus in this episode, Dmitrii talks about how he is going to manage the logistics of traveling as a parent. Many parents feel that they can't be a digital nomad, but Dmitrii explains how very possible the concept is. RegexSEO is expanding rapidly, so make sure you take a look at their current job listings. https://apply.workable.com/regexseocareers/#jobs After you listen in, make sure that you check out our Remote Travel Jobs Daily membership! Irina Poddubnaia talks with Jason Barnard about how to make 5-10% extra sales on Autopilot. Irina Poddubnaia is the founder of TrackMage, a package tracking software that increases sales and customer loyalty by providing a superior post-purchase customer experience. Her journey began by managing a fulfillment center in China for 2.5 years (without speaking Chinese) and then starting and successfully running a SAAS company to this day - completely remotely and without external funding. While ecommerce sellers focus on acquiring new customers, they often overlook the opportunity to generate additional revenue through their existing customers. Retaining customers and keeping them in a cycle to repeat orders should also be a priority in marketing strategy. In this episode, the amazing Irina Poddubnaia discusses how ecommerce stores can get additional sales from customers who have recently purchased and are still checking their delivery status. Irina also explains the importance of keeping your brand name in the minds of your customers throughout the buying process and getting customer reviews. Positive feedback promotes the brand and serves as a good reference for future customers. And negative feedback can be used to improve existing processes and the customer experience. What's more important to your SEO bottom line? Data or feelings? Data, of course! Dmitrii Kustov of Regex SEO joins me on the SEJShow to talk SEO Data, the opportunities for SEO of home services (which exploded post-Covid), and other emerging search trends. You'll also get insights around Google updates, tracking, and ROI expectations of SEO, and building localized service-oriented leads. Start recording data. Start tracking data today. Without it, you can't make any decisions based on the data you don't have. –Dmitrii Kustov, 13:57 Instead of Search Engine Optimization, I like Organic Revenue Generation. What is the point of organic search? It's not just traffic, it's revenue generation from that channel. A lot of people don't have that phrase, but that's what I prefer calling SEO, "Organic Revenue Generation." –Dmitrii Kustov, 21:48 I've always experienced that I don't see SEO as a standalone service that people buy, and that's it. It has to be integrated into the overall marketing machine, where lead quality and follow-up come in. Marketing is getting someone further down the funnel to make that sale. –Loren Baker, 16:28 [00:00] - About Dmitri. [02:10] - Home services Dmitri specializes in. [03:18] - What does it mean to be data-driven? [06:12] - What pure ROI means. [09:27] - Should you concentrate on high-ticket items for onsite optimization? [17:48] - Dmitri's viewpoint on ranking only for the front end. [22:59] - Role of direct search on data. [27:46] - Questions to ask product teams to start recording data. [29:55] - Can you leverage national blog post traffic for home services? [35:07] - Dmitri's take on Google's recent content updates. [40:47] - Dmitri's thoughts on E.A.T. Resources mentioned: Regex SEO - https://www.regexseo.com/ Content is not only text content. Text content nowadays is going away. So if you are an established business, doctor, health practice, or veterinarian, hire an intern videographer or editor and just let them follow you around and make a little YouTube showing whatever or little interviews. It's much easier for a doctor or any expert to sit in front of the camera for 15 minutes and answer a few questions than sit down and write a 2000 article that's going to take a day or more. If you have video content, YouTube is your friend. Nowadays, text content is becoming a smaller portion of content marketing. –Dmitrii Kustov, 50:53 If you're in the marketing industry and SEO game and doing it correctly, meaning that you produce great content, do not use any black hat, gray hat backlink building, or any of that stuff, none of the updates will affect you. They should even improve your rankings. –Dmitrii Kustov, 37:49 There's a big difference between trust and knowledge. Someone can be the smartest individual in their space, and someone can be incredibly knowledgeable. Still, it doesn't necessarily mean they're trustworthy. –Loren Baker, 46:32 For more content like this, subscribe to our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/searchenginejournal Are you looking to keep up with current and effective digital marketing today? “If you don't know at least some basic math, it's going to be very difficult not to lose money on marketing campaigns,” says Dmitrii Kustov, founder of Regex SEO. With the help of basic mathematical concepts, Dmitrii improves the digital presence of some of the top brands in the U.S. In today's episode, host Alex Valencia sits down with Dmitrii to discuss the correlation between math and digital marketing and why every business owner needs to know their numbers before pushing content. According to Dmitrii, the whole point of SEO and online marketing is to get actual results. That's why it is crucial to analyze previous conversion rates before you put money into marketing. Once you understand past data, you can compile the numbers to design a campaign that will yield results. Whether you spend a thousand or a million dollars on marketing, you need to know your money is working for you. So tune in to this week's episode of The We Do Marketing Hour to learn how math and data analytics can improve the overall outcomes of your digital marketing campaigns. My Future Business Interview with Dmitrii Kustov#seo #regexseo #marketingHi, and welcome to the show!On today's My Future Business Show I have the pleasure of spending time with data-driven specialist and co-founder at Regex SEO Dmitrii Kustov talking about marketing, business development and being an entrepreneur.During the call, Dmitrii talks about some of the hurdles and challenges associated with trying to change the negatives associated with their industry, and how Regex SEO is leading by example by making decisions based on data-driven research, and importantly, being honest with their clients.Regex SEO was formed after the three founders met working for larger firms in the digital marketing industry. The three founders were tired of seeing people being sold things they didn't need, or being convinced to overspend on poorly optimized marketing plans. This behavior didn't sit well with the Regex SEO leaders, so they decided to start their own company and do something about this problem.Dmitrii also shares some key insights into what it's like to work with co-founders, and some of the challenges that come with growing a business from scratch. We also take a deep dive into SEO, website development, branding, and business development. The thing I like about Regex SEO, is that they are not a ‘cookie cutter' solution provider. Instead, they spend time studying their client's business, background, and industry, and then they craft a custom marketing plan that actually makes sense for their specific situation. To learn more about Regex SEO, or to contact Dmitrii directly, click the link below. Thanks again Dmitrii, for being my guest on The My Future Business Show!Rick NuskePS: To get in front of your best audience and stay there, click the book your interview button below. Thanks for joining us on the show today, and if you liked this call, support the show by clicking on our big red YouTube subscribe button below, and share us with your friends.
