With corroborated by multiple witnesses (including four police officers and a warden at a prison) this one raised an unsettling question...was Don Decker possessed by the devil, or stalked by the spirit of his dead relative...or could it really have been an elaborate hoax? For more on Peter Laws check out:www.patreon.com/peterlawsor www.peterlaws.co.uk

On this very wet edition of the Nonsense Bazaar, we'll dive into the stories of two rainmakers: Don Decker, a man allegedly possessed by the devil who gained the ability to make it rain following a death in the family, and Lillie Stoat, the elderly Mississippi potion maker who caused a stir in the 1940s. She's the most famous woman in history! We'll examine the evidence for and against their abilities, hear a lot of silly names and once and for all, make it rain here at the Nonsense Bazaar. The mind is a powerful thing. There are certain memories that stick with you forever - sometimes triggered by a smell, or a sound, that will take you immediately back to a moment in time. Whether a fond memory, or a complete nightmare, it seems that we have very little control of when this will happen. For us, the moment we hear the theme song for Unsolved Mysteries, or hear Robert Stack's voice - suddenly we're pre-teen kids again. This week we talk about a case that both of us remember hearing about on our old favorite show Unsolved Mysteries - one that back in 1993 they referred to as the "Rain Boy". This case is a perfectly creepy example of just how powerful the mind potentially is. Don Decker (the Rain Boy, or Rain Man) could seemingly make it start to rain wherever he was, a phenomenon that was witnessed by many including police...one which no one could explain. Was it a case of hydrokenisis, a demonic possession, or simply what would be arguably one of the most elaborate and difficult hoaxes for the time? Find out what we think and decide for yourself this week on THAT WOULD BE RAD... Thank you so much for listening - stay spooky & BE RAD! SHOW INFO
Time to get wet and wild, Creep Street! On this episode Maureen and Dylan discuss the story of Don Decker and the terrifying events that surrounded him in February of 1983! After the passing of his abusive grandfather, Don soon realized he was able to conjure rain indoors. Was this a real life example of superhuman powers, or was Don Decker under the influence of something demonic? Citizens of the Milky Way, prepare yourselves for The Demon Rain Man!
In February 1983 Don Decker was released from jail to attend his grandfather's funeral. Traumatized by his family celebrating a man who caused Don so much pain Don decided to stay with some family friends for the night. For the next several days multiple witnesses reported strange paranormal behaviors occurring when Don was around. People reported household items rattling, strange smells of death, and even rain materializing inside buildings when Don was present. For several days family friends, a landlord, and even local police all witnessed strange unexplainable phenomena associated with Don. He reported crucifix's burned him, he levitated in the air, and even reported he could control manifesting rain inside buildings. This case is a roller coaster ride from start to finish. Listen as Marcus and Vic discuss this strange case. They cover all the old theories such as demonic possession and ice dams. They even add a few theories of their own to this strange case. The extended episode of our shows is EXCLUSIVE to our patrons. Vic and Marcus discuss the work of Jennifer Laclaire and Daniel Duval. They dive into their ideas of underwater civilizations of advanced technology, mysticism, and Christianity that numerous times leaves Marcus speechless. Sometimes the past can come back and haunt us whether it was the choices we made or the choices made by others who hurt us. But what if these thoughts had such a power over you that they caused it to rain indoors? That is what happened to Don Decker in 1983.

"I have been walking the trails, forests and shores of Alaska for 50 years, always in the company of a loyal dog. The sub-arctic environment has been a constant source of information and inspiration. I refer to these elements of nature, but not as illustrations. The images in my art evolve out of the practice of working daily in my studio. My focus has been not only the expansive Northern landscape, but the patches of ground beneath my feet as well. I work in an abstract expressionist manner in painting, while my drawings are usually tighter and detailed. Both media reflect my extemporaneous and experimental approach. I have been University trained and have studied the art in great museums of the World. I value originality though historic themes such as modernism continually permeate my decision making during the process of painting or drawing. The struggle to improve is challenging and never ending. Each empty canvas or page is a new beginning. Inherent in the process is the danger of mis-step or failure. It's like walking on thin ice." - Don Decker, Learn More

Welcome back to TFD Summer Break! In today's episode, Scott flies solo in studio to bring you the curiously strange case of Donnie Decker. If you're unfamiliar with the alleged possession of Donald Decker, you're in for a treat. In February of 1983, Don Decker, then 21, was in jail for receiving stolen property. He was granted furlough to attend the funeral of his grandfather, James Kishaugh, whom Decker claims had abused him since he was 7 years old. The first alleged paranormal event occurred after the funeral, when Decker stayed overnight at the home of his friends, the Kieffers. Don claims he felt a chill and fell into a trance-like state there, while at the same time, the walls began to ooze water. Don's friends, as well as their landlord, could not identify a source of the leaks, and it only gets stranger from there. If you're new to the show, welcome to TFD Summer Break! The episode where we talk about all the things-Smorgasbord anyone?! It’s our Christmas episode, so we all gave each other gifts - the Sarah’s both did unsolved mysteries with some demonic possession thrown in, and Lindsey does a UFO story! Boydston starts us off with Don Decker aka the real Rain Man and a light exorcism. Next is Lindsey with the Men in Black, the conspiracy, not the movie. Sorry not sorry for all the “that’s what she said” jokes here. Sarah is here for it though. Finally we get Sarah with an unsolved murder in Finland, the Lake Bodom murders. Boydston gets to hear Sarah mispronounce things and Lindsey gets another unsolved, so it’s a win win for everyone here. www.thetipsyghost.com Find us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok @thetipsyghost and at Patreon.com/thetipsyghost Email us your stories at thetipsyghost@gmail.com Show your support when you subscribe, leave a great review & give us a 5 star rating—it really helps!

In this episode, Cody has a conversation with Julie Decker, the Director and CEO of The Anchorage Museum. When she took the job, Julie made a radical shift in the way museums typically function. Rather than just collecting and displaying artifacts, she decided to transform the Anchorage Museum into a living museum, focused on local issues by examining present themes in order to look at Alaska's cultures and traditions in a contemporary way. Ultimately, this shift was meant to answer one fundamental question: how does the museum and its network make Alaska a better place? Julie is uniquely qualified for the position she's in, having grown up around her dad Don Decker, a prominent Alaskan artist whose work goes back to the 70s. When she was a kid, she watched as he did the artist thing—struggle and appreciate the creative process and then learn to let his art exist outside of himself. She understands this dance between the indefinable creative process and its payoff because she's an artist as well. Today, she talks about how she finds things like the sound of pencil on paper soothing because of what it represents: a quiet and contemplative meditation.

February, 1983 On furlough from Monroe County Correctional Facility following the death of his Grandfather, Don Decker spent the weekend at a family friends Bob and Jeannie Kieffer. At some point over this weekend a terrifying event took place. While in the upstairs bathroom, Decker reportedly had an encounter with an evil spirit frightening Decker and causing large scratches in his wrist. Shortly after the ordeal Decker, shaken up but relatively unharmed, sat down to eat dinner with the Kieffer’s. While these strange hallucination could be explained due to the stress caused by losing a loved one or recent jail time, something else happened that night that can’t be explained so easily. Something that would require police, priests, and… an excorcism Check out our socials for more updates! It’s one thing to have your life thrown into chaos by something natural, something normal, something other people can see, relate to and something that you can talk about. It’s quite another to be completely unable to explain the chaos and unable to fight back. Mostly because you don’t even know what you’re fighting. It’s strong and it’s terrifying. Following you wherever you go. People who love you and support you can see it too and they are powerless against it. They don’t know how to help you or how to save you. February 24, 1983. Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. After receiving a temporary furlough from the county jail, 21-year old Don Decker attends his grandfather's funeral and goes to stay at a friend's house. It isn't long before Don appears to go into a trance and water starts materializing from the house's walls, ceiling and floor. Over the course of the next several days, Don seemingly has the ability to make water appear at different locations, including a pizza parlour and the county jail, and numerous eyewitnesses report seeing strange supernatural events which make them believe that Don is possessed by an evil spirit. The indoor rain finally comes to an end after a meeting between Don and a reverend, but everyone is left completely baffled. Did Don Decker really have the ability to control water with his mind, or was the whole thing nothing more than an elaborate hoax and an example of hysterical social delusion? After 168 full-length episodes and 32 minisodes, our podcast has finally reached its 200th episode and to commemorate the occasion, we are doing something a little different from the norm and chronicling the bizarre saga of Don “Rainboy” Decker, a paranormal-themed mystery of which there is no easy explanation.
