Ericsson has announced its plans to hire 250 people at its Irish Research and Development Centre in Athlone, to support the company's ongoing development of innovative cloud-native products that orchestrate, automate and power its global 5G portfolio. The highly-skilled roles, which include opportunities for software developers, data scientists, architects, cloud and mobile communication engineers at all career stages, will be added over the next three years. This project is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland. One of Ireland's largest employers within software development, Ericsson has had a Research and Development (R&D) presence in Athlone since 1979. The Athlone facility, which is the global R&D headquarters of Ericsson Digital Services OSS (Operations Support Systems), currently employs 1200 people developing its OSS and Cloud RAN (Radio Access Network) portfolio. Ericsson employs an additional 200 at its Dublin base. Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Employment, Leo Varadkar TD said: “This is really great news. Ericsson is expanding further, adding 250 new jobs to the 1400 the company already employs here. These new jobs are in new areas in cloud-native technologies, providing some really exciting opportunities for the Midlands. It truly is a vote of confidence in Athlone and Ireland as a whole that such an internationally renowned company has chosen to make this investment. Thank you to Ericsson for their continuing commitment to our country and the Irish-based team who I know were crucial in the decision to bring this investment to Ireland.” Minister of State with responsibility for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation, Robert Troy TD said: “I am delighted with Ericsson's announcement to add 250 roles at its R&D Campus in Athlone. These highly skilled roles in software development, engineering and cloud technologies are a very welcome development for the region and this expansion reaffirms the Midlands as a centre of excellence in the ICT sector and cloud technology. Ericsson is a well-established presence here in Athlone and its continued success and investment in its R&D Campus is a testament to the fact that Westmeath, and indeed the Midlands as a whole is a great place to do business. I want to wish the staff in Ericsson all the very best in this exciting new chapter.” Denis Dullea, Head of Research and Development at Ericsson Athlone said: “This announcement underscores our global reputation as a world-class R&D software development centre. Our team here already play a critical role in the development of Ericsson products, services and solutions that enable Ericsson to deliver limitless connectivity that makes the unimaginable possible. “We are hiring an additional 250 software developers, engineers and architects with cloud-native skills to enhance our capability to deliver the benefits of cloud-native technologies to our global customer base via our RAN, Management, Automation and Orchestration offerings.” Mr Dullea added: “The investment is also good news for Athlone and the wider Midlands region, where Ericsson is one of the largest employers. With strong ongoing partnerships with the IDA, the Irish Government and the recently established Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), we are excited to continue attracting and nurturing the best and brightest Irish and international talent to the heart of Ireland.” IDA Ireland CEO Martin Shanahan said: “Today's significant announcement by Ericsson, a company that has had a presence here in Ireland since 1957 and an R&D facility in Athlone since 1979 is terrific news and demonstrates this global leader's continued commitment to its operations here. The next generation of technology developed at the Athlone facility will set the standard for the industry. These jobs and the associated investment will have a substantial impact on both the local and regional economy. I wish Ericsson every success with this expansion, and ...

Siobhan was part of the early team at Communispace, now known as C Space, which was a big win for the Boston tech scene. The company scaled aggressively and was acquired by Omnicom in 2011. Siobhan joined MassChallenge in 2016 as its Chief Operating Officer and was promoted to CEO last year. MassChallenge is a global, zero-equity accelerator that was established in 2009, shortly after the financial meltdown. Needless to say, the economy was in a very tough spot and the outlook was bleak for startups. It took two visionaries - John Harthorne and Akhil Nigam - with a bold belief that they could create an accelerator that would award $1M to startups. There were definitely skeptics out there, including myself, but they pulled it off and the impact has been extraordinary. MassChallenge has over 2,400 alumni startups that have raised over $6.2B in funding and have gone on to generate over $3B in revenue and create over 157,000 jobs! In this episode of our podcast, we cover: * Siobhan's background and how she got involved with Communispace. * The full lifecycle story behind the growth of Communispace to its acquisition and beyond. * A deep dive into the history of MassChallenge and how the program operates. * Advice for founders when applying to MassChallenge and how they decide which companies to accept. * And so much more.
In this episode, we sit down with MassChallenge CEO, Siobhan Dullea to discuss embracing innovation in organizations. Show notes: https://www.cavesocial.com/siobhan-dullea
In the months leading up to the New Hampshire First In The Nation primary on Feb. 11, 2020, Pat Provencher, at 89, was an enthusiastic volunteer for the Pete Buttigieg presidential campaign. Her energetic spirit, donned by a jacket covered in Pete campaign buttons and a straw cowboy hat adorned with a patriotic-styled scarf as the band, captured the attention of national and international media. In addition to her home state of New Hampshire, Pat campaigned in North and South Carolina. Her daughter, Patsy Dullea, was her mom's photographer, social media manager, and right-hand gal. In this interview, which was recorded shortly after the 2020 coronavirus pandemic shutdown in March, mother and daughter reflect on the highlights of the campaign experience and their hopes for a new administration.Check out this video from October 2019 of former South Bend, Ind. The F-1 women were an elite military unit, they always had each other's back and were always standout performers. Not surprisingly, they remain life-long best friends to this day. We chronicle their journey and call attention to the fact that it was a great challenge to be West Point's 11th class with women. We talk about awkwardly tolerating sexist behavior to fit in as "one of the guys"; passing out at a blood drive; grabbing the Mic to announce "Donuts are In"; navigating the physical barriers of barracks set up as divisions, balancing careers with spouses, and being faced with the challenges of breast cancer. Whether serving a career as an Army Officer (Libby), DoD civilian contractor (Julie), FBI Agent (Sharon), community volunteer and board member (Stephanie) - the F-1 women continue to set the example of selfless service to the nation. Duty Shall be Done.

Mike Dullea is an American entrepreneur, marketer, and innovator who is the CEO of AutoAlert and serves on its Board of Directors. Dullea is widely recognized as a charismatic pioneer of SaaS software programs within the automotive industry and for his influential career in the consumer automotive retail industry, changing the way people shop for and purchase vehicles in North America. Under Dullea’s leadership, AutoAlert scored a huge partnership with the iconic Ford Motor Company in 2018 through the introduction of an innovative way for dealerships to sell more cars and retain more customers in every kind of market, for which Dullea’s own patented Innovated Incentive Management System (IIMS) was critical. AutoAlert’s commitment to the community and giving back has been strengthened under Dullea’s leadership. For example, employees are given 16 hours of paid time every year to volunteer at their favorite local charity. Dullea also co-founded and served as CEO of VinSolutions. His pioneering understanding of the use of “big data” and its potential to assist automotive retail dealerships in finding, selling, and keeping their customers paved the way for greater profitability than any time in prior history. Following massive growth, VinSolutions was purchased by Cox Communications in 2012. Dullea then served as CEO of MotoFuze before it was acquired by HGGC. Dullea is a board member of Midwest Animal ResQ, and he is the proud guardian of a 1-year-old French bulldog named Lolipup. He enjoys playing guitar, going to concerts, and fishing. This is Chapter 18, an additional installment to the Peak Performance book, that takes the form of interview between Peak author Brian Elms and Jordan Dullea, a talent acquisition project manager in HR with the City and County of Denver. Dullea introduces us to the HR mascot: Stampy, an illustrated elephant on brown construction paper with a multicolor patchwork of felt. In 2016, recruiters in the HR department had taken a training at the Denver Peak Academy, a city program that teaches graduates how to save time and money without sacrificing quality. They learn a variety of tools -- often using construction paper, sticky notes and permanent markers -- for mapping out a dysfunctional process and eliminating wasteful steps.
