This week's pick is the 1976 action-like thriller Project: Kill. An elite assassin (a sweaty Leslie Neilsen) flees a government mind control program he headed to blow the whistle on it. He completely abandons this plan almost immediately upon arriving in the Philippines and instead looks for love while being pursued by his former second in command (a sweaty Gary Lockwood), as well as local police and Terrible Delights Hall of Famer Vic Diaz!
The Roddenberry Archive/OTOY dropped a new short film last month. It sees the return of William Shatner's Kirk (among others), and has proved quite moving for a lot of fans. Speaking of fans, Matt is joined by Aaron to discuss this special video in our latest episode.
"765874 - Unification" isn't just the return of William Shatner as James Kirk, it's also the return of Robin Curtis as Saavik and Gary Lockwood as Gary Mitchell. But what does it all mean, maman? We're talking about all of the OTOY/Roddenberry Archive shorts up to the latest, Unification, as well as the extended media that inspired the content from the shorts such as William Shatner's "Return" novels, the Marvel Star Trek: Early Voyages story that introduced the Well of Tomorrows and gave us Yeoman Colt's serial number (765874), Star Trek #400, and the novel "Vulcan Heart" as well as give our thoughts about this short and what it might mean.765874 https://youtu.be/Ng8qTIythnA765874 - Memory Wall https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzeznWVQu5o765874 - Regeneration https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KXU2Ob8gYY765874 - Unification https://youtu.be/mgOZFny7F50Hosts:David C. Leslie Nielsen is leading a group of brainwashed, drugged up SUPER SOLDIERS in the Philippines but after taking a break from his daily dose of super soldier serum he starts to grow a conscience and goes on the run, with his first-in-command Gary Lockwood hot on his trail in William Girdler's conspiracy action film PROJECT: KILL from 1976. If you like seeing two old, not-very-flexible actors throwing kicks and uppercuts while Filipino stuntmen go flying, this is the movie for you. Ryan reports in on his recent trip to Graceland and Memphis, Bec gives her initial impressions of the new documentary "Reinventing Elvis: The '68 Comeback Special" (which releases today, August 15, on Paramount Plus in the US) and the gang begins to dig into the first part of 1961 drama "Wild in the Country," starring Elvis, Tuesday Weld, Hope Lange, Millie Perkins, John Ireland, Gary Lockwood and a highly publicized cameo by Olympic athlete and actor Rafer Johnson. Wildly underperforming at the box office compared to Paramount's G.I. Blues and Blue Hawaii, Wild in the Country has quietly occupied an unusual spot in Elvis' filmography, but was there ever actually anything wrong with it, or did it just not pander to expectations of who and what Elvis should be in the early 60s? Bec also gave the obscure book that inspired the film, "The Lost Country" by J.R. Salamanca, a read, and together she and Justin (who previously read it in 2021) report in on some of the major differences in plot, character and overall structure. Dana and Tom discuss the sci-fi classic, 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968): written and directed by Stanley Kubrick, co-written by Arthur C. Clarke, starring Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood, and William Sylvester.Plot Summary: "2001: A Space Odyssey" is a visionary science fiction film directed by Stanley Kubrick and based on a story co-written by Arthur C. Clarke. Released in 1968, the film is an epic exploration of human evolution, artificial intelligence, and extraterrestrial encounters. The story begins during prehistoric times when a mysterious black monolith appears to a group of primitive hominids, triggering a significant shift in their cognitive abilities. Millennia later, in the year 2001, a similar monolith is discovered on the Moon's surface, buried beneath the lunar soil. Upon excavation, the monolith emits a powerful radio signal towards Jupiter. In response to the signal, a manned mission is launched aboard the spacecraft Discovery One, led by Dr. David Bowman and Dr. Frank Poole, along with three other astronauts in hibernation. The onboard computer, HAL 9000, an advanced artificial intelligence system, assists the crew throughout their mission. As the spacecraft nears Jupiter, tensions arise as HAL begins to show signs of malfunction and unpredictable behavior. You can now follow us on Instagram, Twitter, or TikTok (@gmoatpodcast) or find our Facebook page at Greatest Movie of All-Time Podcast. For more on the episode, go to: https://www.ronnyduncanstudios.com/post/2001-a-space-odyssey-1968For the entire rankings list so far, go to:Full Graded List - Greatest Movies of All-Time Ronny Duncan Studios

We talk HAL, music, humanity, evolution, the filmmaking process, and more but we still only scratched the surface. Contact us at rollitpodacst@gmail.com or follow us! Sneakers are everywhere, but they're usually on our feet. Gary Lockwood, aka Freehand Profit, turns them into incredible art. He deconstructs rare, expensive and classic sneakers into elaborate masks that comment on modern crises like civil unrest, war, and climate change, while paying tribute to the emcees, DJs, graffiti artists, and b-boys who laid the foundation for hip-hop and sneaker culture. Remarkably, the masks retain the markings and style of the original shoes. Featuring more than 30 works borrowed from collectors around the world, "Face Value" at SCAD Fash Museum of Fashion + Film is Lockwood's first museum exhibition. Felicia Feaster spoke with Lockwood about his fascinating work for this week's podcast. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Brace yourself for what may be the worst film we've watched for the podcast (so far) - 1976's Project: Kill starring the usually-charming Lesley Nielsen. In this drab slog of a movie Nielsen plays John Trevor, leader of the titular project who discovers his men are being used as political assassins! He flees to the Philippines and is chased by his second in command (Gary Lockwood). With sparse action scenes and a single short car chase, Nielsen spends most of the movie standing around looking like a Dad on holiday. This week It Was a Thing on TV presents what may be one of their best efforts yet as they look into the history of CBS' Bicentennial Minute segments produced between 1974-1976. The butt of many a joke in its day and even into the 21st century, The Bicentennial Minute was an occasionally bland but also occasionally interesting minute-long segment delivered by a celebrity about what happened in U.S. history 200 years ago that day. Celebrate your Fourth of July holiday listening about this patriotic throwback to the 70s. Links to all the segments we referenced are down below. This week: Jess Rogge & Jane Kyle chat about the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) starring Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood, William Sylvester and Written by Stanley Kubrick (Director) & Arthur C Clark. WEIRD HOLLYWOOD with Jess & Jane
Director Stanley Kubrick created the masterpiece film "2001: A Space Odyssey" 1968. Among the influences for the film are Arthur C. Clarke's "The Sentinel" 1951, "Universe" 1960 the documentary from the National Film Board of Canada and the 1964 New York World's Fair movie "To the Moon and Beyond".Mr. Kubrick assembled a stellar group of people and took several years to make this exceptional movie. The film has inspired filmmakers and been a significant force as reflected in subsequent movies. There is a discovery on the moon of an alien monolith and Dr. Heywood Floyd played by William Sylvester must direct a space journey to Jupiter led by Dr. David Bowman played by Keir Dullea and including Gary Lockwood as Dr. Frank Poole, other crew and super computer HAL 9000. An alien monolith from millions of years earlier changed the course of human development. As with art and music each person watching this movie will draw a conclusion about the monolith's effect on our future. Here’s the IMDB page for “2001: A Space Odyssey”Up next... The Interplanetary Federation of Cinemondo discusses the second Star Trek pilot. The third episode to air, but the second one to be shot… and the first time William Shatner had ever played Captain Kirk on screen! It’s a great episode that takes us beyond the barrier of the galaxy where a strange force turns Gary Lockwood and Sally Kellerman into godlike beings. The actors and crew are still finding their place in the universe and still working out the details of props and wardrobe, but it still stands up as one of the Starship Enterprise’s most memorable adventures. Full of great characters and action, and we dig deep into the detailsSpace: The final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starhip Enterprise. Its five year mission, to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no man has gone before.SPOILER WARNING: This episode contains MAJOR SPOILERS which means important story details will be revealed. Ever Forward Club's Ashanti Branch is joined by mask maker and artist, Freehand Profit, also known as Gary Lockwood. Gary began making masks ten years ago, starting a movement on his blog called “Mask 365”, in which he created one mask every day for a year. Now with over 161,000 Instagram followers, he has become known for reimagining and taking apart sneakers, transforming them into one of a kind masks. (1:39) Ashanti's introduction. (5:30) Gary introduces how he started making masks, struggling to find his place in the art world, and how sneakers and the surrounding sneaker culture are symbols for the “front of the mask”. (11:44) Gary and Ashanti share the front of their masks and find common ground in their hard-working nature. (18:48) Before exploring the back of their masks, Gary analyzes why he has a tendency to delay doing the necessary internal work to maintain his own health - something Ashanti deals with as well. (21:20) Then Ashanti connects Gary's battle with depression to his own fear of failure, and with his sadness about his father's death. (24:15) Gary's thoughts on self-doubt lead into a discussion about the double-edged sword of seeking recognition, setting and reaching goals, and how ultimately extrinsic reinforcement will never be enough. (29:41) Ashanti talks about the mental health of his brother, who battles paranoid schizophrenia, before both men share their battle with body image issues. (34:36) This leads into thoughts about “the story we tell ourselves”, and how we are biased towards the outside voices that are also confirming whatever messages of self-doubt repeat in our heads. (37:22) After taking a breath, Ashanti and Gary talk about how sneaker culture can cause people to do self-destructive things; and then Ashanti shares how he fell victim to the “what are those” gag in school. (40:49) Finally, Gary gives insight into his artistic vision and process behind his art, and Ashanti shares the details of his work with youth. --- Check out Freehand's Website: Freehandprofit.com Instagram/Twitter: @FreehandProfit Patreon: patreon.com/freehandprofit --- Create your own mask anonymously at www.100kmasks.com If you are interested in being on the Face to Face podcast, email us at everforwardclub@gmail.com Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/branch-speaks/message Connect with Ashanti Branch: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/branchspeaks/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ashantibranch Twitter: https://twitter.com/BranchSpeaks LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/ashantibranch
The Cinemondo gang with special Guest Lisa Fancher discusses Jaques Demy’s 1969 MODEL SHOP, starring Gary Lockwood. It is slice of life that still rings true all these years later and takes us on a trip down the streets and boulevards and avenues of Los Angeles, California. The city that stars in so many films, but which films about this city get it right? Which filmmakers really understand the appeal of this former desert that sprawls for miles in all directions? The broken dreams and the desperate souls who come here looking for fame and fortune and the invisible ones who find their own ways of paying the bills.SPOILER WARNING: This episode contains MAJOR SPOILERS which means important story details will be revealed. Joe's going on a "Politics" diet, Spike has been breathing poisonous fumes from his home remodel, and Bob asks permission to tell a boring story. For the record, that's a first (the asking permission part). Collective Soul played in Bob's Garage back in 2003… and Spike got to sing the iconic "Yep!" on the smash hit "Shine". You'll hear it right after the show and just before the classic Lisa Lampanelli Interview. We thing you'll enjoy this one. Rated PG. Some adult situations, no profanity, mild political references, a few PG-13 mattress jokes. RIP, and a moment of (radio) silence to the passing of two friends and Seattle Radio icons; Gary Lockwood & Charlie Brown.

* Re Broadcast from 2016 Cloverleaf Radio's hosts The Host with the Most Jimmy Falcon and Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling's Gremlina welcome Actor/Producer/Casting Director, Joseph D'Agosta! Joseph "Joe" D'Agosta was the casting director of Star Trek: The Original Series during its entire three-season run, starting with the first pilot, "The Cage". He was also the casting director of Mission: Impossible, The Lucy Show and Mannix at the same time, which were all produced by Desilu. D'Agosta started out as an actor, but very soon turned to casting. D'Agosta worked as assistant casting director on Gene Roddenberry's series, The Lieutenant, which starred Gary Lockwood. However, after the controversial episode To Set It Right (guest starring Nichelle Nichols and Don Marshall), the US Navy withdrew its support from the series, and Roddenberry needed to hire extras from elsewhere. D'Agosta found a quick and cheap solution for this, and was thus promoted to the show's main casting director. After The Lieutenant was cancelled, D'Agosta was hired by Twentieth Century Fox for a motion picture, but he turned down that offer, when Roddenberry contacted him to do the casting for his new science fiction project, Star Trek, feeling he would benefit much better from constant employment on a series than a few weeks' paycheck at Fox. During his career in casting, spanning more than four decades, D'Agosta worked on both television and film. His credits include The Brady Bunch, and films such as Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986). D'Agosta is the husband of actress Barbara Baldavin, whom he cast as Angela Martine in "Balance of Terror", "Shore Leave", and "Space Seed", and as Lisa in "Turnabout Intruder". Sean Morgan, a regular bit player on Star Trek was a college friend of D'Agosta, which lead to him being cast in smaller roles on the series. He was also a classmate of Ralph Maurer at acting school, and cast him in two episodes of Star Trek. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jianetwork/support
This time around it's two non-musical Jacques Demy movies from the 1960s which share the same narrative universe as his other 1960s movies. First, Demy's first feature film Lola, starring Anouk Aimee and Marc Michel, then 1969's Model Shop starring Anouk Aimee and Gary Lockwood. Both movies are highly recommended. Enjoy! Hírszekció: - Elhunyt David Odgen Stiers, aki az Új nemzedék emlékezetes Mindvégig élni (4x22 Half a Life) című epizódjában játszotta Dr. Timicint, a Lwaxana Troi hatására kis híján dezertáló tudóst. - A hetvenes évek közepén még William Shatner és Leonard Nimoy sem látott reális esélyt a Star Trek visszatérésére. Szerencsére nem lett igazuk. - Karl Urban derülátóan viszonyul a következő Trek mozifilmhez, de egyébként Batman szerepét is szívesen vállalná, ha úgy adódna. - Megjelent az emTV.hu legújabb podcastja, a Médiazabálók, melynek első adásában a Star Trek is szóba kerül, ennek részleteiről, valamint a márciusi Parallaxis készítésével kapcsolatban Ádám hozott új információkat. Az aktuális kibeszélőben: - A Where no man has gone before volt a Star Trek második pilotja, melynek vágott verziója végül a harmadik epizódként lett bemutatva. A korábbi készítés miatt a sorozat megszokott egyenruhái és díszletei még nem a véglegesek, Dr. McCoy helyett pedig Dr. Piper az orvos. - A szuperképességekre utaló, speciális hatást keltő kontaktlencsék a Gary Mitchellt játszó Gary Lockwood, és a Dr. Dehnert alakító Sally Kellerman szabad látását meglehetősen korlátozták. - Delta Vega: egy kietlen bolygó a galaxis távoli pontján, ami a 2009-es Star Trek filmben valahogy közelebb került a Vulkánhoz, mint kéne. - Gary Mitchell valamennyire mégis csak ember maradt, hiszen néha hibákat is elkövet: a kapitány sírkövét az akció közben például teljesen elrontotta, így a nézők a James R. Kirk feliratot olvashatják. - Indokolatlanul szénné égő, szikrázó, füstölő konzolok és kezelőfelületetek, amiktől a többi Star Trek sorozat és mozifilm tisztjei sem lesznek biztonságban sem a hídon, sem a gépházban. - A hosszú hétévégére az Impulzus csapatával egy időtálló Star Trek mozi újranézését ajánljuk a követőinknek, a következő különszámunkban ugyanis a Star Trek VI: A nem ismert tartomány című moziról lesz szó.

Last year marked the 50th Anniversary of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Stars Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood discuss the making of the film and the 50-year journey since. One of the greatest films in the history of cinema was hated by critics at the time of its release. It completely changed the direction of science fiction “space” cinema and cemented the genre as anything but silly, compared to what came before. This episode was culled from a series of interviews conducted over the course of 2018 with stars Keir Dullea (Dave Bowman) and Gary Lockwood (Gary Poole).2001: A Space Odyssey is now available in 4K/UHD from Warner Home Video. The best way to watch it is on 70mm film. See if your local film society, IMAX, or art house is playing it.
Welcome back and hello to the new listeners, we hope everyone is having fun and taking care of themselves. So, this week we find out that there is a new electronic skin developed from the National University of Singapore. We discussed how it can be applied in the real world, trust me this will make you laugh, the possibilities are endless. Although we really like the idea of a window for submarines with a heads up display, that would be cool. Next up we look at an indie game called Dwarf Fortress from two brothers and how their model might rival the triple A game studios. This is a game that embraces the gaming community and encourages players to develop extra content and share it online. Lastly, we look at the transition of a video game character now appearing in DC Comics known as the Arkham Knight. This not the first time that has happened as Marvel has done it before but obviously DC will do it better. As usual we have the regular list of shout outs, remembrances, birthdays, and events of interest. As usual we have a lot of fun bringing you this latest episode of mayhem, so settle in with a cup of earl grey hot and a biscuit while we bring you some of the news this week in Nerd pop culture. The movie is a masterpiece, Kubrick was a filmmaking genius and I got 30 minutes to talk with two of his collaborators on the film. Yes, I was both freaking out and counting my blessings! Commentary: Trek Stars: The Work of Star Trek Creators Outside of Star Trek
Roddenberry Part 2: The Lieutenant. Star Trek is not the only show to be created by Gene Roddenberry. Three years prior, Gary Lockwood (aka Gary Mitchell) starred as The Lieutenant in Gene Roddenberry’s debut series about a U.S. Marine Corps officer serving during peace time. This week, Mike and Max examine an episode which features numerous Trek cast and crew members (including Leonard Nimoy) in an attempt to determine what the series on the whole was like. We discuss what makes The Lieutenant different from other military shows, how those differences reflect Roddenberry’s world view, how the Vietnam War killed the show, what the similarities are between The Lieutenant and Star Trek, and how the failure of The Lieutenant may have shaped Star Trek into the show it would eventually become. We also examine the landscape of television in the early ’60s and debate whether or not “Mitchell” is the best episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000.
