Welcome beautiful shining soul. I am so happy you are here to see what the You-est® You Podcast has lined up for you. You know, so often when people think about self-care, their thoughts instantly go to luxurious bubble baths with candles and maybe a cup of tea or a glass of wine, or maybe monthly massages. Today's fabulous guest, Elena Lipson, tells us self-care runs much deeper than that. It's a process we all need to get on board with. You won't want to miss her tips for self-care.   Meet Elena Co-author of '{An} Unsinkable Soul: From Broken to Brilliant With Self-Care' and upcoming book release: 'The Six False Agreements Women Make: Rewrite Old Stories, Learn to Trust Your Intuition and Stop Living Life Based on Other People's Limitations'.   Elena Lipson has been published in: Tiny Buddha  Huffington Post  Medium Business Rocks Magazine Business Heroine Magazine   And was a featured Self-Care Expert on the Mel Robbins TV Show in Spring of 2020. Elena is a podcast host, transformational speaker, and founder of the top-rated podcast: Divine Self-Care Meditations & Musings.    Self-Care is Health Care After a decade of hustle, burnout, and developing an autoimmune disease, Elena dedicated herself to helping others press the pause button, tame their inner gremlins, and finally take care of themselves FIRST. Elena tells us that finding your way to self-care is like coming H.O.M.E. to yourself. This is when your Health is at stake, when you are Overwhelmed, when Motherhood weighs you down and when you are stressed out by Entrepreneurship, you need self-care the most.      Creating Self-Care Habits We talked about the power of self-care and how it will be a new habit for most people to create. Elena shared a fantastic routine, which she calls the Magic Morning Habit, which can help you to set an empowering intention and change the course of your entire day.    Tips for Self-Care Morning Routine [17:50] 1. Clear the cobwebs: write out anything that is in your mind or on your heart. No editing, just write. This technique was adapted from Julia Cameron's book, The Artist's Way [21:16] 2. Turn on your inner pilot light: move, dance or do yoga [22:34] 3. Ask for guidance: put your hand on your heart and ask for guidance, say thank you in advance for having a beautiful day, or use prayer.     Final Thoughts The most important takeaway from Elena's podcast might be that you don't have to be sick to find self-care. She warns us not to get caught up in the self-betrayal of avoiding confrontation or living the life we think others want for you. Take time for the self-care morning routine because it is transformational. The intentional presence you are creating for yourself starts each day with the self-care you deserve. It may be simple, but showing up each day for yourself isn't easy, but remember you are absolutely worth it.      Connect with Elena Lipson Website: elenalipson.com Facebook: facebook.com/YourDivineSelfCareMentor Instagram: @elena_lipson Twitter: @ElenaLipson   Sacred Connection As always, this community is a sacred, safe place built on love and acceptance. We are so distracted by what we think we should be doing, what we think we should be accomplishing, what we think we should be creating. We’re just so off-center from what’s most important.  – Elena Lipson On this episode of the Plan Simple Meals Podcast, I’m really excited to talk about taking care of yourself with Elena Lipson, a coach, speaker, and retreat leader who helps women stop putting themselves second to everyone and everything in their lives.  We talk about the difference between work-life balance and work-family balance. The second so often takes you out of the picture completely. So many women say, “I just don’t have time to take care of myself.” It’s not that we don’t know what to do, it’s that we have a hard time prioritizing — and recognizing that balance isn’t stable, it moves back and forth like a pendulum.  Another way to think about balance is not to think about everything being equal, but to think about how things feel. Are they fulfilling? Are you giving attention to the things you want to give attention to? Elena says, “You’re actually course correcting all the time. That is the best description of entrepreneurship and motherhood and womanhood and life. You’re constantly course-correcting based on what is feeling really fulfilling right. What do I need to put my attention to.”  We talk about:  Putting your top priority on the calendar first Delegating things that get in the way of your top priority The idea of daily alignment, which may mean putting attention to different places or including different things in your life day by day, and also checking in with yourself daily to see if what you are doing feels right Having a criteria to help you make decisions and say no—and modeling how you use family criteria in decision making  Elena’s HOME acronym (Health crisis, Overwhelmed, Motherhood, Entrepreneurship) and how your choices lead to repercussions through all aspects of your life, including your body What self-care really is The importance of moving your body first thing in the day BIO Elena Lipson is a Divine Self-Care Mentor, speaker, transformational coach and retreat leader. She’s also the creator of The Divine Self-Care Circle, a year-long journey for women who are ready to say YES to igniting their divine feminine and dropping the hustle in exchange for creating a life they love with ease and grace. Elena works with incredible women all over the world to help them become the #1 asset in their life, business and the bedroom. Elena helps women reconnect to their intuition and re-claim their voice. LINKS www.elenalipson.com The Divine Self-Care Circle On Instagram elena_lipson Elena’s podcast Essentialism by Greg McKeown Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes  Doable Changes from this episode: MOVE YOUR BODY FIRST. Elena encourages people to move their body first thing every morning. We know that movement has health benefits, but moving your body also gets you out of your head (and our of the habit of scrolling through your messages and social media). Take a walk. Do some yoga. Dance. See what happens when you start your day with movement. CALENDAR YOUR TOP PRIORITY FIRST. Do you put all your work dates and times on your calendar first? What would happen if you started with your priorities—the things you really wanted to make time for? Whether it is being there for your kid’s events, family dinner, or a project that lights you up every day, put it on your calendar first. Then fit in other things around it. Do this for the next season or the next month and see how it it feels.  SET DECISION CRITERIA. Do you say yes to things you really don’t want to do? Do you have trouble saying no? You aren’t alone. Set some decision making criteria to help you practice making decisions that fit your priority. If you make family dinner a priority, you may need to say no to certain activities or meetings. Get clear on your priorities for this season. Then when an event or offer comes up, assess it to see if it works with your priorities before you answer. If you find you have a hard time saying no, learn to say, let me get back to you. Think it through and then give the answer you truly want to give

In honor of Mother’s Day, I’m releasing episodes each week in the month of May that I will think will help us pause from the busyness and prioritize and invest in ourselves. I found a powerful guide for this purpose in Elena Lipson, someone I met through another mentor and coach of mine, Lindsay Pera, who beautifully dedicated this episode. As a retreat leader, speaker, writer, coach and podcaster, Elena inspires women to redefine the hustle in exchange for creating a life they love with what she calls the Feminine Metrics of success: Pleasure, Play, Ease, Grace and Trusting Your Own Pace. In this conversation, we explore Elena’s journey from a life that began in Russia to one based today in the fresh air of the Pacific Northwest with her husband of over 19 years and their teenage son Miles.  The best adjective I could think of to describe this conversation is “juicy” filled with so much goodness, insights, and examples for how to connect to our bodies, speak our desires, and lean into presence and inquiry instead of assumption... with ourselves, our children and our partners.  In fact, toward the end of the conversation, we begin to explore how we can keep the “pilot light” burning in our romantic relationships, so if you’re listening with children around, you may want to put in some earbuds.  I left this conversation recommitted to building presence in my life, with greater awareness of the importance of body, heart, gut, and brain alignment, and excited to explore Elena’s challenge to us to get in touch with what we really want and then to ask for it. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did and that it sparks a shift in you, as it did me, to claim our self-care and speak our desires.  Much appreciation, P.S. As you'll hear in the episode, Elena agreed to share more on the topic of "Movement and Pleasure" through a presentation in the Mother's Quest Facebook Group. Elena Lipson was my first ever self-love mentor. In fact, she is THE Divine Self-Care Mentor, and I credit her and my previous guest Leslie Potter with helping me out of “martyr mama” mode and into grace and spaciousness. Elena is my first guest in this month of focus on self-love. In today’s  conversation we talk about mindful choices, how Elena’s experiences with auto-immune disease led her to explore deep self-care as a path to healing, how she used the positive side of curiosity to imagine a completely different way of living, the BIG decision to homeschool her son and why that helped her grown and evolve personally and profesionally, and so SO so much more. Welcome to another awesome episode of Business Straight Up, the small business podcast for creatives and photographers! Today I am talking with the crazy brilliant Elena Lipson, a coach and teacher that focuses on being productive and reaching your goals because of self care! Entrepreneur self care is something that tends to fall by the wayside because let's be real - we are SO BUSY with so many things happening, that by the time we take care of our families and our businesses, there isn't much left for ourselves! Elena and I are going to talk about energy cycles, a morning routine, what it can do for your life and your business, and about what to do with those fearful thoughts that can sometimes take over when you're facing something that you haven't done before. I can tell you from experience that even for someone who is NOT a morning person, that morning routine is truly life changing!

We had a fantastic time in this interview! But of course, I'm not talking with just anyone who is carefully living in between the lines--I'm speaking with Elena Lipson, Divine Self Care Mentor. Self care is more than a bubble bath, it is deep. We are used to quick fixes and band aids and measuring our results often by grand moments of success or failure. But sometimes (and this is one of those times) 'success' as far as our care for our selves goes, should be measured over time. The proof is in our sense of well being, day after day. We know when we are off track.  My hope is that listening to this podcast with Elena, who devotes her life to this topic, will motivate you to take even better care of yourself than you already are, perhaps help you 'get back on the wagon' if you've fallen off.  Learn more about Elena here: www.elenalipson.com End of Life Doula Training and Certificate Program. Diva Tech Talk interviewed Elena Lipson, Founder of Mosaic Growth Partners (http://www.mosaicgrowth.com/).  Elena is also the host of THE BOOST Podcast, a podcast highlighting accomplished entrepreneurs, athletes and healthcare professionals.  Elena has experimented with multiple paths in the creation of her mission. “I started off in a corporate job in HR and marketing,” after her college graduation. “But I realized, quickly, that I wanted to do work that was more mission-focused. So, I went back to school to get my master’s in public policy.”   Elena moved into the world of public sector consulting working at BearingPoint, a small firm and then t Deloitte Consulting for 7 years ( https://www2.deloitte.com/us/en.html). “There, I really fell into the health tech space.” Elena said “I was really not that technical person. I was more interested in how technology could help enable better healthcare.” She worked in consulting for 8 years, but “I got to the point where I felt that being a partner in a big consulting firm was not the path I wanted to be on.” So, Elena moved over to a business development role at AARP (www.aarp.org).  But the pace of that organization was “a lot slower than what I was used to,” she said.  “I had this ‘aha’ moment where I realized that I was tired and burned out from working for other people.”   So, Elena decided to start her own consulting firm. “I quit my job at AARP, started Mosaic Growth Partners. I spent the first year testing out a lot of things. From that I developed a couple of core offerings,” she said. “My firm is helping entrepreneurs, and  organizations, in the digital health space. I focus on helping them with growth strategy consulting, and business development. We do a lot of market intelligence work; go-to-market and innovation strategy work; as well as outsourced business development functions and workshops around new business models.”   Elena also launched her podcast and is launching a coaching program for professional women “to help them get the promotions, raises and respect they are looking for in the workplace.” Two major lessons are “staying attuned to the market to see what’s working, and keeping your eyes on the ‘bottom line’ all the time.”  She foresees great developments in the healthcare industry. “I am seeing a lot of user-designed research and that’s really exciting.” Elena recently published an article to supplement her newly-minted coaching practice. Entitled “7 Things Badass Professional Women Don’t Do”, her tips included: Don’t put your head down, take time to build relationships; don’t always say “yes,” protect your time; and don’t be a “tough guy.”  In saying “no,” you can accomplish this with “grace and finesse. You don’t have to steamroll people.” Self-care is essential in Elena’s opinion to professional success and happiness. She ensures that she gets eight hours of sleep, blocks out time to exercise, and has good nutritional habits. “If you’re an entrepreneur, you deal with a lot of rejection,” she said.  So being in top physical shape is a protection and enables her to “handle some of that, and deal with the stresses.”   Elena also values mentoring and noted that she has had both formal and informal mentoring relationships but benefitted most from those that are organic, “relationships with people that really feel natural, and you are just the right fit, from a chemistry perspective.” Elena’s final words of wisdom are “you need to be confident in yourself; no one else is going to be able to give you that.”  Additionally, she emphasized “Just be open to where experience will take you.” For the full blog write up, make sure to check us out on online at www.divatechtalk.com, on Twitter @divatechtalks, and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/divatechtalk. Elena is the creator of 66 Sacred Rituals and The Divine Self-Care Circle Mastermind, a year-long journey for women who are ready to say YES to igniting their divine feminine and dropping the hustle in exchange for creating a life they love with ease and grace. Q & A Why do you believe self love is important? I believe that the way you honor yourself and your needs is the first step to building any relationships outside of yourself. What was the one thing that was holding you back from accepting self love? Thinking that my value, my self worth was connected to what I created instead of just because I was born and because I am. Who is one person who has changed your life for the better? Caroline Myss, a medical intuitive and healer. What is the best advice you have ever received? Get more sleep. What is a self care habit that you practice regularly? The Magic Morning Practice, a three step practice that includes meditation, physical movement, and writing. Do you have a favorite quote? “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” Anais Nin Can you share with us a resource or an app that we can use to help our own self care practice grow? I use my phone as a self care practice. I have 4 different prompts that come up every single day. They are positive messages that pop up throughout the day.

Elena has done different daily practices since she was a teen, including exercise, yoga, inspirational ready and eating well. Even with that basis in place, things shifted when she become a mother.  There was this new person to focus her energy on, and she wasn't clear how to show up as this new version of herself and care for herself and her child at the same time. She had already been coaching for many years, and was drawn to yoga to help her find her balance.  She started a yoga teacher training.  At first, she started with just 5 minutes of yoga in the morning.   And that gradually become 10 minutes.  She has gradually create a wonderful self-care ritual for herself that encompasses all aspects of her being - mental, physical, emotional and spiritual. Elena is now sharing her self-care rituals with other mamas so they can show up as this new version of themselves and still feel authentically themselves.  She beautifully describes how to start slowly and gently with creating a self-care routine and focusing on finding what works for you.  She emphasizes taking each step with love and compassion, and keeping your promises to yourself on these smaller actions so you can show up for yourself more fully each day.

The Numinous Podcast with Carmen Spagnola: Intuition, Spirituality and the Mystery of Life

My guest for today's show is Elena Lipson, a Divine Self-Care Mentor who helps conscious mamas take care of their most important asset: Themselves! Women work so hard in their businesses and in their lives as mothers, friends, wives, etc. But what is it all worth if they are too tired, sick and stressed-out to enjoy it? That's the focus of Elena's programs & retreats. Elena's passion is to help tune the mind, body & spirit into income, balance & inspiration. In this episode, Elena tells us about coming out of the intuitive closet, the transition from corporate life to coaching, and how she incorporates intuition with her work with clients. Keep up with Elena on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter. Her feed is always inspiring! In this show, Elena references a great book that I also highly recommend, Daily Rituals: How Artists Work, by Mason Curry. (If you don't feel like adding another book to your pile here's the gist of it: go for long walks.)   I also mention The Transformation Game, a game of intention and intuition that originated at the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland. I've been playing it since I was 15 years old and host a monthly game night in my community. Warning: once you start, it's hard to stop. It's a wonderful way to spend a long evening but stock up on snacks and wine!
