One of the most uneventful signings the Dolphins parted ways with Odell Beckham Jr. after just nine receptions for 55 yards. Who could see an increased role with more snaps available at wide receiver - Malik Washington, Erik Ezukanma, or maybe even River Cracraft? The Miami Dolphins offense struggled to do much of anything last week against the Atlanta Falcons. The Miami Dolphins inch closer to the 2024 season with the first wave of organized team activities. Players aren't wearing pads in OTAs, but offer a first look at what the coaching staff is planning for the upcoming year. With plenty of depth at running back Miami may try to get the ball to De'Von Achane as a receiver. Speaking of receivers, Erik Ezukanma is back in action aiming for a spot on the 53-man roster. Jevon Holland literally kicked rocks when Vic Fangio exited Miami and shared some interesting thoughts about Anthony Weaver's defense earlier in the week. Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa hasn't missed a beat this season as the Miami Dolphins lead the league in points and yards per game. That being said, general manager Chris Grier felt it was necessary to add another receiver to the roster following injuries to River Cracraft and Erik Ezukanma early in the season. The Dolphins made the low-risk high-reward decision to send a sixth-round pick to the Chicago Bears for wide receiver Chase Claypool. Additionally, Miami announced on Friday that Terron Armstead is headed to injury reserve. Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw for more than 400 yards against the Chargers following months of coach Mike McDaniel saying that the team would run the football more. The New England Patriots are a unique matchup for the Dolphins after they split the season series in 2022. That said, Tagovailoa is undefeated in his career against coach Bill Belichick and the Patriots. Will Miami take flight on Sunday Night Football or switch their identity in order to pounce on New England? We hit everything from Kendall Lamm's strong performance on Sunday to if coach McDaniel found his 'Deebo Samuel' in Erik Ezukanma. The score didn't matter but players saw their stock rise with a strong performance against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night. Emmanuel Ogbah played just 11 snaps but showcased that he was ready to return from injury with two tackles and two quarterback hits. In the secondary, both Cam Smith and Noah Igbinoghene played well — what will the depth chart look like as the team looks to overcome the injury to Jalen Ramsey? Offensively, Erik Ezukanma touched the ball five times on his 26 snaps and was responsible for Miami's longest play of the night, a 39-yard rushing play. Chris Brooks made the most of hs snaps at running back while Mike White and Skylar Thompson struggled to move the ball at quarterback. What's next for Miami's offense? It's a Halloween Victory Monday! In a chillingly close game with the one-win Detroit Lions, our Miami Dolphins managed to pick up our second straight win since Tua returned. How did our young signal caller look? Almost perfect.Miami Dolphins vs. Detroit Lions Game RecapEric Rowe a surprise inactive, but I'm happy the coaching staff realized what a liability he was before putting him out there!Braylon Sanders gets the nod over Erik Ezukanma with River Cracraft out; what's up with that!?Tua has another nearly perfect game - putting the Miami Dolphins in victory formation despite their early struggles. The Cheetah and Penguin show continues to be the most exciting Miami Dolphins football I've seen in my lifetime.Alec Ingold is an absolute beast; making big-time blocks all over the field, springing Tua for an 18-yard scramble, and picking up the first rushing touchdown of his career!Great job by the defensive coaching staff getting the defense motivated to completely flip the script in the second half.Jevon Holland was all over the place trying to be a one-man show; potentially giving up some big plays in the process. The pass rush was virtually non-existent yet again. Goff was getting the ball out quickly, but there were missed opportunities to turn this game around earlier. The secondary was exposed again, but not just against guys like Kohou and Crossen.Another pretty ugly win, but it showed some grit from this team. Detroit has played extremely well at home this season, even giving the Philadelphia Eagles a good run for their money. If we can get this defense back to making big plays, this team will be one to be feared in the playoffs. Support the showThank you so much for listening, #FinsUp baby! In this episode of the Fins Family Podcast, we recap the Miami Dolphins gut-wrenching 15-13 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in week 2 of the 2022 NFL preseason. We'll take a look at how Tua Tagovailoa faired in his first action of the year, commiserate over the running game for a second straight week, and fall in love with Erik Ezukanma. All 3 QBs got in the gameTua looks good, shows strong command and leadership; did a good job buying time and finding the open receiverBridgewater looked like Teddy Bridgewater, some beautiful throws overshadowed by excessive backward running and overthrown ballsSkylar Thompson stole the show again making a case for himself as the backupThe Receiving CoreMike Gesicki was having a rough go and stayed in for a large portion of the game because of it.Erik Ezukanma solidifies a roster spot, and likely the 4th WR spot to boot with a strong 6 catches for 114 yards that only tells a small part of the story.Despite being heavily targeted and involved, Braylon Sanders failed to make a positive impression.Trent Sherfield pulled in his lone target for 16 yards on a beautiful route and throw from Tua. Since he's playing with the 1's I'd assume he's got a spot.Lynn Bowden Jr played heavily on special teams but only had 1 target on offense.River Cracraft ran some nice routes and did a great job getting open to bail out his QB, just not sure he's shown enough.Mohamed Sanu and Preston Williams didn't move the needle at all for themselves. The Run Game Struggles Again18 carries for 37 yards from 7 ball carriers.Salvon Ahmed leads the night with 5 for 20.Sony Michel fails to convert on 2nd and 1 and 3rd and 1, finishing with 2 carries for 0 yards.Chase Edmonds runs 3 times for 3 yards.Myles Gaskin goes 4 for 12 with a fumble at the end of the half.ZaQuandre White with a beautiful pass from Skylar Thompson, makes a man miss, and scores.Cornerback WoesNoah Igbinoghene continued to struggleNik Needham and Keion Crossen both went down with seemingly minor injuries but both were lost for the game; Needham was having a good game before the injury.Mackensie Alexander got smoked on a slant on one of his first plays in the game but redeemed himself on a nice pass breakup a few plays later.Kader Kohou took advantage of his opportunity, performing very well in coverage.Elijah Campbell had a meh night after a strong showing last week.Linebacker BattleStarters Zach Sieler, Jaelan Phillips, and Andrew Van Ginkel all stood out in their minimal play time.Duke Riley is a beast.Channing Tindall was all over the place, as the Madden sim told us he'd be, recording 6 tackles on the night and being around the ball constantly.Porter Gustin lands another sack and a TFL, making a strong case to put him on the 53-man.Cameron Goode was once again… good. 5 tackles and a tackle for a loss.Ben Stille showed up again too, grabbing a sack and a TFL for another strong showing.Did Darius Hodge play? Jason Sanders misses the game-winning FG (46 yards)

The Kansas City Chiefs' wide receiver depth will look dramatically different in 2022. Tyreek Hill is gone and the Chiefs added Juju Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling via free agency, but it figures to be a position General Manager Brett Veach also addresses in the NFL Draft. “4th & 1” analyst Nick Jacobs and host Tod Palmer discuss the best fits for the Chiefs among wide receiver prospects. Lubbock Avalanche-Journal sports editor Carlos Silva Jr. is joined by Texas Tech wide receiver Erik Ezukanma, who talks about an adverse week in which he learned his head coach was let go and the Red Raiders dropped a road contest to nationally-ranked Oklahoma.
Last year, Texas was a 17-point favorite at Texas Tech in both teams' Big 12 opener, and the Longhorns needed minor miracles to overcome a 15-point deficit in the last 3:13 to escape Lubbock with a 63-56 overtime victory. Joining us this week on The Flagship Podcast to preview the 2021 Big 12 opener between the Longhorns and Red Raiders is Jarret Johnson, publisher of InsideTheRedRaiders.com, who said Tech coach Matt Wells "mentions that game against Texas last year a lot" to his team. Gone is Tech quarterback Alan Bowman - replaced by 6-foot-5, 230-pound Oregon transfer Tyler Shough. Johnson explains why Shough is off to an up-and-down start for the Red Raiders. Tech running back SaRodorick Thompson, who ripped off a 75-yard touchdown run against Texas last season, is returning from injury. But Johnson tells you why Tech hasn't missed Thompson thanks to freshman running back Tahj Brooks, who is averaging 8.1 yards per carry. Johnson talks about how Tech's 6-foot-3, 220-pound sophomore receiver Erik Ezukanma, who had seven catches for 91 yards and a touchdown against Texas last season, has only gotten better. Tech is 3-0 after victories against Houston, Stephen F. Austin and Florida International and trailed early in all three games. The Red Raiders needed a fourth-and-goal pass breakup on the last play of he game against FCS opponent SFA to hold on to a 28-22 victory. Johnson says because of the competition, it's hard to tell just how strong Tech's 3-0 start really is. Johnson also says Tech's offensive line has been inconsistent and really struggled against SFA. Johnson talks about the Tech defense, which he says has a strong front seven and has been stout against the run but might be vulnerable in the secondary. Johnson tells you how Tech coach Matt Wells, who found linebacker Colin Schooler (brother of Texas safety Brenden Schooler) in the transfer portal last year, went to the transfer portal again in 2021 and found gold (in addition to QB Shough). Johnson also talks about Wells' job security after going 4-8 and 4-6 in his first two seasons in Lubbock. How do Tech fans view Texas now that the Longhorns have said they're leaving the Big 12 for the Southeastern Conference? Johnson tells you and gives you his prediction for how Saturday's game at 11 am CT (on ABC) at Royal-Memorial Stadium plays out. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
