John MacKenzie chats with Roger Ward, Director of Cairns Mortgage Brokers and Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, about the many households that will be forced off their fixed-rate home loan. The Reserve Bank of Australia has data revealing that 53% of Queenland home loans will be pushed back on to a variable rate. The end of a fixed-rate loan could mean an average increase in payments of $1114.
John MacKenzie chats with Roger Ward, Director of Cairns Mortgage Brokers and Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, about the Reserve Bank of Australia's interest rate rise of 25 basis points to 3.35 percent. It is being predicted that there will be a noticeable dent in the number of prospective first-home buyers looking to enter the market in Far North Queensland as the repayments on a $500,000 property will increase by approximately $76 per month. This is the Reserve Bank of Australia's 9th interest rate rise since May 2022.
John MacKenzie chats with Roger Ward, Director of Cairns Mortgage Brokers and Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, about the mortgage and financial stresses facing Cairns homeowners, as interest rates continue to rise. The Reserve Bank of Australia raised rates to 2.6 percent, which is the highest it has been in seven years. The rates rise will hit many hard as the cost of living has been dramatically increasing, including basic grocery, fuel, and utility prices.

Most of this comes down to best practices, but there are some creative ways to bring in new customers. Now you too can learn some of those adjustments. In this episode of the Revenue Engine Podcast, Alex Gluz talks with Ryan George, the CMO at Docupace Technologies, to discuss efficient marketing and getting the most out of your sales. They walk through topics such as Docupace's own strategy, how to manage a successful sales pipeline, and how to find quality leads — all on a humble budget. Stay tuned!

In this episode of Human Capital we talk with David Bellaire, general counsel for the Financial Services Institute in Washington, about FSI’s lawsuit against the Labor Department for withdrawing its independent contractor rule. FSI filed a lawsuit on May 13 against the Labor Department for withdrawing its final independent contractor rule and is now actively lobbying Senators about a legislative remedy. “I think that there is a deeply held view in the Biden administration that all workers are benefited by being employees rather than independent contractors -- that the protections provided to them are greater and therefore all workers should be employees of their firms," Bellaire said. "Our members would see that very differently. … They chose this model because they want to own their own business, they want to serve clients in the best way they could without interference.” Listen in as Bellaire talks about the lawsuit’s timing, how withdrawal of the rule is impacting firms as well as why FSI worries that Labor and the Biden administration may pursue a more stringent independent contractor standard.

Arete Executive Podcast hosted by Managing Partner Richard Triggs. Interview with Manuel Garcia, CEO, Indue Limited. Manuel Garcia is a talented and accomplished leader who values inspiring people and nurturing a community culture among his team. Before sitting down with Manuel I wasn’t entirely familiar with Indue but after an insightful conversation about the business and Manuel’s career, I am confident Indue will continue to grow and succeed under his leadership in the future. His ability to take risks and his people focused approach are central to Manuel’s achievements. Manuel was born in Spain but relocated to Australia with his family in 1968 when he was five, upon his father seeking more opportunity for his young family. Manuel spent his formative years in Brisbane and after finishing school a keen interest in numbers saw him secure a position in banking. It’s interesting that even as a young man, Manuel understood the role of banking within a country’s wider economy, and was motivated by the scope and opportunity to be influential. His natural ability led him to study a Bachelor of Business in banking and finance at the University of Southern Queensland. Manuel has over 35 years experience in the finance industry. Prior to becoming the CEO of Indue Limited in 2003, Manuel worked across various industries for the National Australia Bank for 21 years both in Australia and abroad. Manuel’s expertise is in payment products, strategy and finance, product management and wholesale and commercial lending. Manuel has also completed a number of additional finance and leadership courses throughout his career. He is a member of the Financial Services Institute of Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and is a former Director of Eftpos Payments Australia Limited.
