In the early 00's The Streets burst onto the scene. Original Pirate Material was like nothing else around, combining garage beats with everyday stories from a geezer we could all relate to. Mike Skinner wanted to literally push things forward, taking the garage genre in a new direction and using his lyrics to talk about what was really going on inside the hearts and minds of people in the clubs. It struck a chord, and The Streets got a lot of attention.Over five albums Mike Skinner would tour Australia a whole lot, always playing festivals and always drawing a huge crowd. Then in 2011 he called it a day, releasing his final album and doing his final shows as The Streets. Music stayed in his life though. He threw himself into producing, directing, and most notably DJ-ing, behind the decks instead of out front on stage.Across his five songs choices we get a snapshot of a kid writing raps in his notebook in a hostel in Sydney. As well as the man today who is older, wiser, more grounded but with plenty of stories to tell. From Johnny Cash to Grim Sickers to Daft Punk, this is The Streets, Taking 5 with Zan Rowe and playing us his songs from then and now.Johnny Cash - A Boy Named SueSnoop Dogg - Serial Killa [Ft. 30 Years later and Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle remains a true classic. The record is a clean listen from start to finish. How do we look at this record 30 years later knowing what we know now? Snoop Dogg, Death Row Records and label mates (Lady of Rage, Daz, Kurupt, RBX & Warren G) changed gangsta rap forever. To me, it's one of the best records ever made. Maybe the best? B. Cox and J. Owe look back at at the momentous occasion of Snoop Doggy Dogg's classic debut album Doggystyle as it turns 30. Fresh off the heels of his breakthrough performance on several tracks on Dr. Dre's The Chronic released not even a year prior, he set to set the game on fire with what was, to that point, the most highly anticipated debut for a new hip-hop artist. Working hard with Dr. Dre and a handful of fellow Death Row Records collaborators such Daz and Kurupt of Tha Dogg Pound, Lady of Rage, the DOC, RBX, Warren G and Nate Dogg, the young Long Beach emcee was looking to top all expectations bestowed upon him. In spades, he delivered. Along a three hugely successful singles in "Who Am I? (What's My Name?)", "Gin and Juice" and "Doggy Dogg World", Snoop dropped 54 minutes of G-Funk laced fire with his trademark, lazy, yet casual and sharp flow and lyrics that served as the backdrop to a growing hip-hop and pop culture phenomenon. His infectious hooks, what would be become classic and quotable bars, the outlandish and even vulgar skits and humor all made the album a a part of popular culture and lexicon and still lingers to this day. It all played a part of a dominant two-to-three years of Snoop being recognized as the hottest rapper in the game and one of the biggest stars in music. The debut numbers were unprecedented. It sold over 800K its first week and by the end of the year, it was approaching 2 million records sold. As of today, it stands as 7x RIAA platinum certified. It is widely known today as such: 1) The biggest and most anticipated debut album of any hip-hop album that exceeded such hype 2) One of the most influential albums of any genre released in the last 30 years and 3) Universally accepted as a classic, a West Coast living landmark and legacy that defined 90s West Coast hip-hop and the success of Death Row Records at its peak. B. Cox and J. Owe look back at Dr. Dre's transcendent debut album The Chronic as it turns 30. After spending half a decade as the architect and chief producer for both NWA and Ruthless Records, Dr. Dre split in 1991 to help co-found Death Row Records with Marion "Suge" Knight with the backing of Interscope Records. As their prime producer and executive, the record label would become a symbol of power and success in the 1990s, starting with his debut album.Using techniques of producing beats over sampled funk records, deep bass and transformative melodies, the album is credited by many as not originating, but popularizing the "G-Funk" sound that became the label and southern California's hip-hop's identity.Assisted by the likes of a young rap phenom Snoop Doggy Dog, RBX, Daz and Kurupt of the Dogg Pound and Lady of Rage among others, the Dr. also lent his own vocals as a signature defining moment for his career assisted by the pen of Snoop and also the legendary D.O.C., who was relegated to writing after his traffic accident prematurely ended his promising career on the mic. The result was an album full of legendary bars and quotables that would become a part of hip-hop and pop culture lexicon. The album was backed by three Billboard top ten singles : the classics "Nuthin But a G Thang", "Dre Day" and "Let Me Ride". Certified triple platinum, The Chronic has been universally acclaimed as both a foundational album of West Coast hip-hop, the hip-hop genre overall and a culture-shifting supernova that few albums have been able to match in terms of quality and impact since.Visit The Vault Classic Music Reviews Onlinewww.vaultclassicpod.comSupport The Vault Classic Music Review on Buy Me A Coffeehttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/vaultclassicpodShow NotesAlbumism: Dr. Dre's 'The Chronic' Turns 30 | Album Anniversaryhttps://albumism.com/features/dr-dre-the-chronic-album-anniversaryEurWeb: Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" Turns 30 https://eurweb.com/2022/dr-dres-the-chronic-turns-30/HipHopHero: 30 years of 'The Chronic': Dr. Dre's exceptional debut album https://hiphophero.com/30-years-of-dr-dre-album-the-chronic/MusicMusingsAndSuch: Celebrating An Iconic and Complex Debut Album: Dr. Dre's "The Chronic"https://www.musicmusingsandsuch.com/musicmusingsandsuch/2022/11/16/feature-celebrating-an-iconic-and-complex-debut-album-dr-dres-the-chronic-at-thirtyBillboard: Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" Turns 30. Resource Base (ASX: RBX) chief executive officer Shannon Green joins Small Caps to discuss the company's exploration plans at its wholly-owned Mitre Hill project in the Murray Basin. The project is believed prospective for ionic clay rare earths and is close to Australian Rare Earths' (ASX: AR3) tenements that host a high-grade JORC inferred resource of 39.9Mt at 725ppm TREO. Mr Green says the Murray Basin is showing signs of an ionic clay emerging rare earths precinct of global significance.Articles:https://smallcaps.com.au/resource-base-commence-drilling-mitre-hill-ionic-clay-rare-earths-project/https://smallcaps.com.au/resource-base-applies-12-new-tenements-across-mitre-hill-rare-earths-project/For more information on Resource Base:https://smallcaps.com.au/stocks/RBX/

Have you thought of automating your pricing for your Private Label products? If not you could be leaving profits on the table. Jason Hanan from AZ Seller Kit joins us to talk all about how they can help you automate your pricing and increase your profits! Jason Hanan and Lenny Ash cut their teeth in retail on the streets of Manhattan as owners of Entertainment Outlet. Entertainment Outlet became a powerhouse in the music and movie business by becoming an Amazon 3rd party seller in 2003. In 2014 they opened MMX Distribution – an agency to help brands get their products successfully launched on Amazon. While representing and consulting with brands like Champion, US POLO, RBX, Bebe and others, building cutting edge software has been the backbone of growth and profitability for their business. Jason has an uncanny ability to take complicated business data points and simplify them for real world use while Lenny is a master at listening to customers' problems and developing automated software solutions to solve them. Together, they were able to create an amazing easy to use business intelligence tool that continues to wow even the most sophisticated Amazon sellers. Simon Shares Raubex (JSE code: RBX) results saw the second half record HEPS of some 110c after a loss in the first half. The previous full-year, 2020, HEPS was only 161.7c, so the business is looking good. That said, lots of debt and the expanding order book needs to be converted into profit. Transaction Capital (JSE code: TCP) results see the dividend returning. A super-strong trading update from Lewis (JSE code: LEW) with HEPS more than doubling. At the time of their interim results, they paid a dividend of 133c when the stock was around 2400c. If they can do a 250c dividend (should be easy?) the forward dividend yield sits at around 8%. US inflation data spooked higher than expected, even considering the April base effect. April Consumer Prices +4.2% and Core CPI +3%, highest since 2009. Used cars (stimulus cheques?) were +10% and made up a third of the core CPI increase. Fed will do nothing. Ascendis (JSE code: ASC) has announced they've reached a deal with debt holders. Basically, they're swapping the crown jewels (Remedica) for their large debt pile. The debt cost was R280million for the last six month period ending December and this will improve solvency and keep Ascendis alive. But are the remaining assets attractive enough for investors? Upcoming events; 27 May ~ JSE Power Hour: Manage your money like a rockstar Subscribe to our feed here Subscribe or review us in iTunes More Naspers shuffles Naspers (JSE code: NPN) and Prosus (JSE code: PRX) have announced another deal to try and close the discount between themselves and their holding in Tencent (Hong Kong code: 700). Prosus will acquire up to 45.4% of Naspers shares via a share swap whereby holders of Naspers can get 2.27 new Prosus shares for every one Naspers share. This will increase Prosus liquidity (in theory) and markedly reduce Naspers weighting in the Top40 and Swix indices. The latter argument makes sense and is likely a part of the reason for the discount that Naspers experiences. The problem is that with the weighting above 20% most funds are not allowed to hold over a certain percentage (lower than the Naspers weighting), so they can not go overweight, or even match index weight, for Naspers and this reduces potential buyers of the stock. Will it work? Maybe. They have tried many other tricks, unbundling Prosus and earlier MultiChoice (JSE code: MCG) and that hasn't worked. But the weighing in the indices is a real problem. Of course, the very easy fix here is to simple unbundle the Tencent holding - but that's not going to happen any time (aside from some sales every three years as we saw recently). Anchor (JSE code; ACG) are now proposing a delisting at 425c, but with an option to remain invested in an unlisted Anchor. I have never held an unlisted share outside of companies I have founded or worked for a few simple reasons; No JSE oversight Lack of communications to minority shareholders Majority shareholders acting as if it is their private company Zero liquidity to buy and sell Zero price discovery In short, being screwed over. That said Anchor will very much still be in the public eye and this is not usually the case when a stock delists. That will help act as a guard rail (not that they need it) so maybe it will be fairer to minority shareholders. Certainly, I think the 425c offering is very cheeky and I still don't want to hold unlisted stocks, for many this time may be the exception. Well, Friday is here, so that means we are turning our gaze to what's been happening in the world of #MMA We start things off with our week 8 NFL predictions. We then have news on new fights added to the 'Invicta FC 43' fight card. Fabricio Werdum got into it with Conor McGregor which really showed his PED mindset. We look at Uriah Hall virtual media day scrum that didn't go well BUT did highlight terrible MMA journalism. There had to be something on the lightweight title situation. FINALLY, we give the 'UFC on ESPN+ 39' weigh-in's a quick look and things got a little hectic f'sure. The collection is full of dope tapes that used to get played back in the school days on one of those yellow Sony Sports Walkman's with the latch that flipped over the buttons or on a ghetto blaster wedged between the two front seats of Chad's pops late model Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue (It might have been a Plymouth Diplomat, same damn thing really).
