The PAC/2 let him go.  Next I discuss the way some team skirting the I'm out of Scholarships issues for preferred players. Is a loop hole are is it they way of the future. NIL is wide open for now. The NCAA lost anther court case in Federal court and I talk about the ramification of that in college sports. Oh, back to the agreement, the CFP is now set. The schools leaders have finally agreed to the 5+7 model=the winner of The B1G, SEC, ACC, Big XII will get an automatic bid to the CFP and be a top 4 seed. Also, the top rated G5 team rated by the college football playoff committee. Saturday morning things started off great for the Pac-12 with Colorado's resounding win over Nebraska at home and Utah surviving their road trip to Baylor. Later in the day Washington rolled, Oregon squeaked by Texas Tech on the road and Arizona looked sloppy at Mississippi State, falling in overtime for the conference's first loss of the season. Washington State posted the most impressive win for the Pac-12 beating Wisconsin at home, UCLA rolled on the road against Pac-12 killer San Diego State and Oregon State had no problems with FCS UC Davis for the grand opening of the renovated Reser Stadium. Pac-12 After Dark featured USC smoking Stanford in the conference opener, Arizona State struggled in a home loss to Oklahoma State and California outplayed Auburn at home but couldn't close it out against the SEC school. The guys talk about all of those games and Washington State and Oregon State filing an injunction against the Pac-12 and George Kliavkoff, trying to retain control of the conferences assets as the rest of the programs leave for greener pastures. With the opening weekend of the 2023 college football season just a couple of weeks away the guys jump right in with their Pac-12 previews. For months all of the focus has been on the pending demise of the Pac-12 conference, which finally came to fruition last week. But the last year of the Conference of Champions should be an epic one, with half the conference having a legit shot at winning the title, several of the top quarterbacks in the country and three exciting new coaches including Coach Prime in Colorado. This week the focus is on previewing the Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, Colorado Buffaloes, Oregon State Beavers, USC Trojans and the UCLA Bruins. After the previews the guys talk about the latest rumors surrounding Cal and Stanford potentially going to the ACC, what could happen with Washington State and Oregon State and the newly released preseason coaches poll. Also, does commissioner George Kliavkoff have a future with the entity formerly known as the Conference of Champions? As usual Ryan and Dave end the podcast answering listener emails and questions from the YouTube chat. For the video simulcasts of our POC please subscribe to your YouTube channel! Dan Wetzel, Ross Dellenger & SI's Pat Forde try to pick up the pieces from last week's realignment fallout after news that Washington, Oregon would be heading to the Big Ten, while Arizona, Arizona State & Utah would take their athletic programs to the Big 12.The 500th episode of the podcast opens with a discussion on the unserious nature of these Pac-12 realignment meetings, as a chairperson from Oregon joined a call on Zoom during his golf match. This leads the hosts to believe that the meetings were all planned on very short notice & that the conference members were all flying by the seat of their pants during these major decisions. The guys then dive into what happens next for the remaining four teams left in the Pac-12: Oregon State, Washington State, Cal & Stanford. Many Pac-12 fans can't believe the other members left Stanford and Cal out to dry, while some believe that more schools should adopt playing in different conferences for different sports to make the transition easier. Dan pours water on the idea that the conference a team plays in impacts their academic standing, while Ross notes Mizzou head football coach Eli Drinkwitz's comments about the well-being of student athletes being overlooked during the realignment process.Pac-12 softball players have been voicing their opinions and concerns on social media surrounding the realignment. The players state that they didn't sign up to play games at Rutgers away from their families. The podcast crew notes that Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff may not be able to attend conference championships this year for the Pac-12 due to being so disliked at this moment.Rounding out the show, in recruiting news, Florida State lands a big time safety & Boise State is able to keep a wideout in Idaho over Michigan. In another special EMERGENCY episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back discussing the sad and disappointing news that the Pac-12, the premier athletic conference on the West Coast for more than 100 years, is dead. The Conference of Champions was listing for the past 13 months after it's hull was breached by the USC and UCLA defection torpedoes. There was a path to save the ship but commissioner George Kliavkoff seemingly made the situation worse at every turn, allowing for the final death blow from Oregon and Washington on Friday followed by Arizona, Arizona State and Utah getting off the sinking ship thanks to a Big 12 life raft. The guys talk about this shocking development that comes just two weeks after the commissioner assured the college football world on Pac-12 Media Day that everything was going to alright. It wasn't and it wasn't close. Now we have to wait and see what happens with the remaining four members, Stanford, California, Oregon State and Washington State, who are unfortunate casualties in the conference realignment madness. In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio talking about the reported new Pac-12 media rights deal that commissioner George Kliavkoff presented to the remaining nine presidents and chancellors. According to reports the top deal on the table is heavy into streaming with Apple TV carrying the majority of the games with a separate Pac-12 package that would be available for purchase. The reported revenue is below what the Big 12 has with ESPN and Fox, but there are revenue boosters that kick in when more fans subscribe. There is also multiple reports that the Big Ten is looking to expand further with their sights set on Oregon and Washington with the possibility of adding Stanford and California as well. Clemson and Florida State were also mentioned, but both of those programs are locked up for years with the ACC's grant of rights deal. Dan Wetzel, Ross Dellenger & SI's Pat Forde give their thoughts on Lane Kiffin's media day highlights along with previewing the upcoming Big Ten media days & looking back at the Pac-12's outing from last week.Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin had plenty of opportunities to surprise and shock, like he has done in the past, but at the 2023 SEC media days he took the high road when asked to rank the aggressiveness of SEC boosters. With the good comes the bad though, as Lane Kiffin called college athletics a disaster surrounding the transfer portal and NIL. Kiffin described it as free agency and that the biggest buyer gets the best prizes, while noting that Ole Miss has been successful in transfer portal recruiting.Looking ahead to Big Ten media days, Ryan Day is believed to be one of the most interesting figures in college football coming into this season. He has had plenty of success, but losing to Michigan two years in a row has earned some distrust from the Buckeye faithful. The rest of the Big Ten will be very exciting, featuring newcomers Matt Rhule and Luke Fickell joining Nebraska and Wisconsin, respectively. The show wonders how Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker will be received after a very down year for the Spartans. The Pac-12 media day was underwhelming with Deion Sanders not being in attendance due to a surgery. Ross recaps a few of George Kliavkoff's sentiments and the show acknowledges that once the Pac-12 can end the media deal drama, reporters can finally focus on football again. The Mid-American Conference may be trying to restore some of its top rivalries to weekend billings after seeing lower attendance on weekdays. The weekday MACtion is a great college tradition, but the conference is looking to reinvigorate the fans with more Saturday games between noted rivals.Lastly, an otter in California is taking over Santa Cruz by intimidating and stealing boards from surfers.1:00 Lane Kiffin believes college sports are a disaster15:28 Big Ten media days are around the corner35:53 Fallout from Pac-12 media days45:03 The MAC held their media days53:57 There is an outlaw otter in CaliforniaFollow Dan @DanWetzelFollow Pat @ByPatFordeFollow Ross @RossDellengerCheck out all the episodes of the College Football Enquirer and the rest of the Yahoo Sports podcast family at https://apple.co/3zEuTQj or at Yahoo Sports PodcastsSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Irish Breakdown has plenty of Notre Dame football talk heading into the final weekend before the Irish open fall training camp. Today's show starts with thoughts on Friday's commitment of California wide receiver Logan Saldate to the Irish.  Other topics include: * Lane Kiffin comments from SEC Media Days. * Irish women's basketball players Hannah Hidalgo and Cassandre Prosper at the U19 World Cup in Spain.  a discussion on if Marcus Freeman used up all of his "free passes" with last season's upset losses to Marshall and Stanford.  * If Tyler Buchner doesn't win the starting job at Alabama...do you Buy or Sell that him leaving Notre Dame is better off for the Fighting Irish in the long term? * If you could put on a 'Mission Impossible' mask to look and sound exactly like someone else, what Notre Dame football player or coach would you pick? * It's been more than a year and a half since Brian Kelly left Notre Dame for LSU and he keeps getting questions about comparisons between the two. Which is more true: It's time for the questions to end or it's time for Kelly to stop answering them? * Fill-in the blank...It's BLANK that Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff said today that his conference is the strongest it's been in two decades. * The sale of the Washington Commanders is official and there's a report that the new ownership could change the name of the team. Do we Buy or Sell that they should? * Nick Saban and his wife recently went on a trip to Italy that was a 50th anniversary gift to them. Do you have any friends or family who would gift you a trip like that? * Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen says the Big Mac is the best fast food burger. In this episode of the Podcast of Champions host Ryan Abraham is back from another long vacation and then got sick so the show with David Woods was postponed. Now Ryan is in studio and David joins remotely, talking about the reported Grant of Right agreement between the remaining Pac-12 programs (as long as a suitable media rights deal comes to fruition). They also talk about the release of the television schedule for the first three weeks of the Pac-12 football season with some interesting match-ups on at some interesting times (and on interesting channels), including Colorado on national television for all three weeks, twice on Fox's Big Noon Kickoff, Washington at Michigan State on Peacock and Florida coming to Salt Lake City on an ESPN Thursday night broadcast. The guys also talk about the Pac-12's longtime partner, the Holiday Bowl, suing UCLA and the conference for the Bruins cancelling the game hours before kickoff back in the 2021 season. Of course, how can we have a show without more conference realignment talk? The guys discuss the latest rumors surrounding Colorado's flirtation with the Big 12 and Arizona State University securing AAU status, making them a more appealing target for other conferences. Jason Scheer also tried to torpedo his own mentions when he Tweeted, "Washington is recognized by both the Big 10 and Pac-12 as having more value than Oregon." The SEC announced they would only be playing 8 conference games in 2024, despite the addition of Texas and Oklahoma to the rotation. This makes it possible for those bottom dweller SEC programs to beat four nonconference cupcakes, go 2-6 in conference and still make a bowl game. They round out the show talking about Ryan's extended vacation, the Pac-12 paying $10 million to un-renovate their San Francisco offices, the Pac-12 Media Day moving to Las Vegas and the continued silence of commissioner George Kliavkoff on any and all topics including the most important one, the Pac-12's new media rights deal.
