Guests:Joe Brown, Brennan Foxman, & Bill Beck Synopsis:We begin our show with Joe Brown, Executive Chef and Culinary & Food Bank Director for Harvest Cafe & Abundant Harvest Catering at Bethany Baptist Church. Chef Brown brought his unique fusion of Cajun & Italian cuisine to the culinary community when he burst onto the restaurant scene with his first location for Melange. Brown grew his name & brand when major media took notice of the culinary community, and found himself within that notable group. Some of the numerous appearances he made include TV shows like Discovery, National Geographic, & Food Network, as well as in publications like Ebony, Black Enterprise, & Health Quest. Unfortunately he had to close the doors to his restaurants in 2010, but his love of creating delicious meals for people still beat strong. As such, Chef Brown now leads the kitchen as well as inspires future generations inside Harvest Cafe. In addition to that, he just published his second book, Melange: The Story, the Recipes, the Faith which you can tune in to hear from Brown as he dishes out all the details on this week's show!Next, we spiced up our show some more with WokWorks Owner, Brennan Foxman. Foxman Founded WokWorks in 2013 as a brick and mortar store, and has since expanded into various neighborhoods throughout the Philadelphia area. His most recent expansion, which he established in Philadelphia's Fishtown area, is the 10th WokWorks location and is his flagship store. WokWorks offers a plethora of vegan, gluten-free, and meat-based dishes, all of which immerse your palate into their menu of richly complex foods, searing in the nutrients with a wok. Brennan details these delicious techniques, and how he was inspired to open WokWorks with us on Food, Farms, & Chefs!Lastly, we took a stroll to the best Cajun-based restaurant that's not in N'awlin's! That's right, we spoke with Owner/Founder Chef Bill Beck of Beck's Cajun Cafe which is located inside of the Reading Terminal Market! Beck's has been a favorite stop for Philadelphia neighbors and visitors to the area since they opened. In fact, Beck's richly flavored Gumbo's, Jambalaya, and desserts are so beloved that if you ask where to get the best Cajun in Philly, there's only one name that locals answer: Beck's Cajun Cafe! Chef Beck joined us to chat about his menu and how this popular foodie spot has expanded, and now offers more seating and two kitchens. Just make sure you stay tuned until the end because our co-host Gene Blum and Beck recommend (and describe) their favorites from Beck's Cajun Cafe tantalizing menu!
This was the second time having herbalist Wendy Wilson on the show. This show was so much fun because we talked about all kinds of interesting topics. We discussed how to make herbal tinctures and why they're so amazingly healthy and healing to the body. Some of the alkaloids and bitter compounds of the herbs get extracted in the organic alcohol when you let it sit at room temperature. These bitter plant alkaloids actually stimulate the immune system to become stronger. It's really quite amazing how powerful these plant medicines can be and how little we work with them to benefit our lives. What's the first thing we all do when we get the first sign of a cold or sickness? We run to the doctor who prescribes us some kind of antibiotic which further suppress our immune systems. The power of herbs to heal and restore the body to full health is quite staggering. Making an herbal tincture is one of the most powerful ways of getting these medicines into our bodies. We also discussed the dangers of vaccines and how they're loading our bodies with obscene amounts of toxic heavy metals. These heavy metals have been associates with a number of different diseases. Once these heavy metals our in our bodies they can cause so much harm to our health. Please listen to our shows we've done on the dangers of vaccines to learn more about what's in them and why you should avoid them for you and your child. We also discussed why mercury fillings are so harmful to our health and more importantly what you can do about it. Then lastly we talked about chemtrails and what they're all about. Wendy has spoken with a number of different people who have done extensive research as to what these chemtrails our dumping into our atmosphere. This show with herbalist Wendy Wilson was a ton of fun and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did! I hope you enjoyed this podcast as much as we did. Quote from Republican American "Dr. David Kurish, who has had a private practice in Sharon for 40 years, said Nuvance has not done a good job of recruiting physicians, nor has it been transparent about its finances. When Hirko spoke of plans for increasing telemedicine programs, Kurish said, “People don't want that; they want doctors.” Quote from Save Sharon Hospital Facebook page Nuvance Health, the multi-pronged bi-state health hydra, seems to have precipitated a major showdown about the future of Sharon Hospital with the late September announcement of its “transformation” plan. More than just maternity services are slated for possible elimination. According to Dr. David Kurish, Nuvance plans to do away with the hospital's intensive care unit or ICU, aiming to replace it with an intermediate level care medical-surgical and telemetry team called a “progressive care unit” (PCU). Terminating either obstetrics or ICU services is subject to approval from the Connecticut Office of Health Strategy (OHS). The failure to maintain an ICU at Sharon, combined with proposed cuts to the surgery department, would have dire implications for all Cornwall residents who may need emergency treatment. First Selectman Gordon Ridgway considers the measures proposed by Nuvance a threat both to economic development and public safety. “The most important thing the town does,” says Ridgway, “is getting people to a hospital quickly: whether it's women who go into labor or older people who need emergency care.” For example, a school like Hotchkiss that drives part of the local economy relies on a good hospital for its students and families of its faculty. Selectmen from the Northwest Corner of Connecticut, as well as town supervisors from New York, have joined with state representatives to demand public hearings. Save Sharon Hospital, a group founded in 2018 to fend off an earlier attempt to cut off maternity services by Health Quest, Nuvance's predecessor, has hired a lawyer and is organizing opposition to Nuvance's plans. Sample letters protesting the proposed cuts can be found on its website, savesharonhospital.org.

I began my career with HealthQuest Physical Therapy in the fall of 2007 as a PT technician, assisting therapists with patient care. I later became a certified personal trainer with the company while still in school. My passion for human movement and helping people led me to complete my Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2013. In 2016, I opened my own HealthQuest practice in West Bloomfield. I immediately sought out and established amazing relationships within the community, other business owners, and physicians. A large part of my dream was to develop a team that conveys a positive, upbeat, and energetic environment for the community that promotes healing and wellness. What a ride it has been: I met my beautiful wife and married into a wonderful family and am proud to declare that I have the best team an owner can ask for. What began as dream continues to develop into a reality: 2 years after opening, West Bloomfield won the award for the fastest growing clinic in the company that now has over 25 locations. In 2019, my team played a large role in helping me earn the “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” award for West Bloomfield. 5 months ago, I partnered with one of my therapists, AaronSuttles, and opened a second HealthQuest location in Beverly Hills. As my dream continues to evolve, I hope to remain a strong mentor for my team and to help many more people live better lives. Life is too short to stay stagnant!
