David McCauley is an internationally renowned artist, a sailor and board member of The Impossible Dream organization, a traveler, a partner, an activist, and many other things. He is also one of my first friends also living as a quadriplegic with spinal cord injury. We met sailing from Boston to Newburyport, Massachusetts on The Impossible Dream several years ago. Dreaming sounds like fantasy, but every big accomplishment in your life started as an impossible dream.  As life becomes hard, it tends to beat the dreams out of us and we forget how to use dreams to create new goals.  When we feel stuck in life, we have thoughts that there is no other way, but in reality we are never truly stuck. Sarah Montague speaks to former Catholic priest Oliver McTernan who has spent more than two decades working in conflict resolution in the Middle East. He is the director of the organisation Forward Thinking and was involved in negotiations that led to the release of the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit in 2011. While he has no formal role in the current talks over the war in Gaza, he regularly speaks to senior figures in both Hamas and the Israeli government. Given the history of this protracted conflict, does he hold any hope that it will ever be resolved?
