10 Tonight Shows, One HBO Special, and 40 Years of Telling the Truth: The Unstoppable Cathy Ladman Episode Summary Hosts Sarah J. Halstead and Rich Chassler sit down with veteran comedian, actress, writer, and comedy coach Cathy Ladman for a rich and deeply personal conversation spanning four decades in stand-up. A native New Yorker now based in Los Angeles, Cathy has appeared on The Tonight Show ten times — with Johnny, Jay, and Jimmy — and was the only female comic to appear on the final two anniversary shows of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. She's won the American Comedy Award for Best Female Stand-Up Comic, headlined an HBO One Night Stand special, written for Roseanne and Caroline in the City, and appeared in films directed by Mike Nichols. In this candid and warmly funny episode, Cathy reflects on her earliest comedy influences (she memorized comedy albums at age 8), the turning points that shaped her career, navigating the comedy industry as a woman, the art and craft of writing jokes, and her upcoming solo show Does This Show Make Me Look Fat? — proving that after 40 years, she's still evolving, still performing, and still utterly herself.
In this episode of The VCR Show, Vara and Roxy dive into the 2024 remake of Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead. The classic ‘90s cult comedy gets a modern update, and we're breaking down everything—from the new cast and updated story to how it stacks up against the original film that so many fans grew up with.Does the remake capture the chaotic charm of the original, or should they have just left the babysitter where she was? Vara and Roxy talk favorite moments, what worked, what didn't, and whether this reboot earns a spot on your watch list.If you loved the original or you're curious about the remake, join us for a fun and honest review filled with laughs, nostalgia, and a little bit of VCR-style commentary.

Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers Full Movie Reaction Watch Along: / thereelrejects LIQUID IV: Visit http://www.liquidiv.com & use Promo Code: REJECTS Support The Channel By Getting Some REEL REJECTS Aparrel! https://www.rejectnationshop.com/ BACK to continue their Halloween Movie Marathon, The Scream Queens head back to Haddonfield for their Halloween 5 Reaction, Recap, Analysis, & Spoiler Review! Roxy Striar & Tara Erickson dive into one of the most infamous sequels in the Halloween franchise with Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989), directed by Dominique Othenin-Girard. Picking up directly after the shocking events of Halloween 4, the film continues the story of young Jamie Lloyd, played by Danielle Harris (Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, Hatchet II), who is haunted by visions of her murderous uncle. Still traumatized and rendered mute after stabbing her foster mother, Jamie once again becomes a target of the unstoppable Michael Myers. Donald Pleasence (The Great Escape, THX 1138) returns as the obsessed Dr. Sam Loomis, determined to end Michael's reign of terror once and for all. Ellie Cornell (House of the Dead) reprises her role as Rachel Carruthers, Jamie's foster sister, while Beau Starr (Goodfellas, Due South) is back as Sheriff Ben Meeker, leading the fight to protect Haddonfield. Wendy Kaplan plays Rachel's friend Tina Williams, who quickly becomes another central figure in Michael's path of destruction. This sequel is remembered for its brutal kills, its atmospheric Gothic tone, the infamous “Man in Black” subplot that set up future installments, and Michael Myers' relentless pursuit of Jamie through the chilling finale at the Myers house. Though divisive among fans, Halloween 5 remains a cult classic for its suspenseful chases, shocking deaths, and eerie portrayal of Michael as an unstoppable evil force. Join us as we break down the kills, analyze the performances, and discuss how this entry shaped the future of the Halloween franchise! Episode 051: Mom might want to skip this one as Six Picks Music Club dives into the forbidden fruit of teenage rebellion! With Geoffro living his best life abroad, special guest JM joins Russ and Dave to explore the deliciously scandalous tracks that would've had parents everywhere clutching their pearls. Many things we once widely accepted as true and considered non-controversial galvanize intense debates.Leaders are often advised to stay neutral, to not get political when these issues come up in their organizations.Of course leaders should be mindful of what they discuss, how, and with whom. But that isn't the same as being apolitical or neutral. In fact, our collective discomfort with being political often has less to do with neutrality and more to do with avoiding discomfort or even silencing conversations outright. When leaders stifle discussions because they fear losing control, that's not neutrality, that's avoidance. And avoidance doesn't make a space safe; it makes it fragile. As leaders of teams from different backgrounds, lived experiences, and viewpoints, it is neither responsible nor possible to be truly neutral. But what we can do is create cultures of openness, generosity, and meaningful discussion. And in a time when science, health, food security, education, and mental well-being are being politicized, it's essential. In the second part of this series on science communication, my guest is an incredible leader, scientist, and science communicator. On today's brunch we discuss our the childhood movies that we remember fondly but are unsure if others have seen. Movies included are D.A.R.Y.L, Inner Space, Clifford, Camp Nowhere, The Indian in the Cupboard, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, Star Kid, Strange Brew, Remote and many more. We reflect on how these movies were significant to us as kids because of how much we watched them on VHS and we wonder if any deserve it's own episode. Learn more about your ad choices.
