Paul Rodgers is also a solo artist; 'Midnight Rose' is out September 22nd is Paul's first solo album in 25 years. They chat about the new songs including "Take Love" and "Living It Up", from the album and how the cover art came about... his wife Cynthia even came on to tell how it actually happened. Pierre takes Paul back 20 years to the show he did at the Spectrum with Jethro Tull, The Hooters, Jeffrey Gaines, David Crosby & Warren Zevon for WMMR's 25th Anniversary, and even jogs his memory about the backup harmonizers, the Sisters of Compassion.
Frank Viele's brand of New England blues rock tugs at the heartstrings, pulling the listener on a surprise journey that transcends genre.Yet even as he's racked up accolades over the past 7 years — including New England Music Awards for Album of the Year, Male Performer of the Year, Songwriter of The Year (X2), and Live Act of The Year for gutsy, gritty tracks like “Broken Love Song” and “‘Til The Bourbon's All Gone” — he's rarely paused to savor the moment before moving on to yet another tour, album, or collaboration. It wasn't until the pandemic hit in early 2020 and he was forced to hunker down that Viele realized that time itself was the world's most precarious, yet precious, resource. At that time, Viele embarked on a writing-and-recording journey with Jimmy Nutt (Jason Isbell, American Aquarium, The Dead South) and James LeBlanc (Travis Tritt, Will Hoge, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Dylan LeBlanc, Kid Rock, Rascal Flatts) of Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Within this co-writing collaborative partnership, Viele approached each new song slowly, intentionally, and with an open mind, challenging himself to transcend the limits of genre and industry expectations. In 2021, a handful songs that he had started recording in Connecticut, and finished at Nutthouse Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals, were brought to life in the 2021 EP “Time Is A Thief.” This EP won him the coveted New England Music Award for “Songwriter of The Year” for the second time and acted as a prequel to Viele's upcoming full-length 2023 album. In January 2023, the first track off Viele's forthcoming, 13-song album completed in Nutthouse Recording Studios, “Hearts We Left Behind”, came out in January of 2023 and was featured on Boston's Country 102.5 as their “Song Of The Week”. “Hearts” continues to receive critical acclaim citing Viele's strength as a storyteller and his signature vocal delivery. The “magic dust” they are referring to has been gathered from experiences on the road and in venues across the country. Viele built his sound and narrated his journey while constantly touring the United States, playing hundreds of shows each year and sharing the stage with artists such as John Waite, Jeffrey Gaines, Lee DeWyze, Zach Myers of Shinedown, Bob Marley's Wailers, Howie Day, Xavier Rudd, Ingrid Michaelson, Tony Lucca, Pat McGee, and Blues Traveler, among others, since the release of his first solo album in 2015.But Frank Viele's musical journey starts long before that… Fondly listening to his grandmother play piano as a child and later reinvigorated as a teenager inspired by his older brother's taste in music and an acoustic guitar he left behind when he moved to the West Coast, Viele developed a deep appreciation for a wide range of genres including rock, blues, folk, and country. He began writing his own music as a teenager and quickly developed a knack for crafting deeply personal and emotive songs that spoke to the human experience. After honing his craft fronting New York City based Jam/Funk/Rock Outfit “Frank Viele & The Manhattan Project”, Viele released his debut solo album “Fall Your Way” in 2015, which was met with critical acclaim including 2 New England Music Awards for Album of The Year and Male Performer of The Year. (On top of the Live Act of The Year Award he had received in 2014).The Album, “What's His Name?” won Frank Viele the New England Music Award for “Songwriter of The Year” which paved this Connecticut musician's path to Muscle Shoals, Alabama where he began the next chapter of his writing and recording journey. Viele's music is characterized not only by his powerful vocals, soulful guitar playing, and poignant lyrics, but also its deep honesty. This is an artist who is not afraid of wearing his heart on his sleeve, and dig deep into the joys and struggles of life. He has been praised for his ability to blend elements of folk, blues, and

I hope you enjoy the 5 records that helped shape Chris Marshak into the drummer he is today, but get your notes out for this one as he gives some stellar advice than can be applied both on and off the kit. Cheers! For more information on Big Fat Snare Drum, check out www.bigfatsnaredrum.com and follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok.

Zion Rodman is a versatile musician who spends his free time singing and playing the guitar, bass, piano, and drums. He grew up in Cape Cod, MA, where he played around the cape since the age of 15 and eventually received a BA in music from the University of Massachusetts in Boston. He grew a fan base in New England and by 2017, Zion was performing at historic venues like Club Passim, Caffe Lena, and the House of Blues. He opened for national acts that include Ellis Paul and Jeffrey Gaines. In the summer of 2017, Zion teamed up with producer Alex Katz and released his debut full-length record You're Invited. The folk-rock album received praise and local media attention following its anticipated release. Crossfader Magazine wrote that in an era of "lo-fi bedroom projects, it's refreshing to hear a young creative voice this professionally produced, fully realized, and cohesively structured around a distinct personality and energy." Less than a year later, Zion released an EP titled "Did Not Wake up Today" on January 20th, 2018. This project features heavier topics and harder rock than his debut album. Even before its release, the title track was recognized by AFROPUNK: "Rodman turns up the volume of his melodic indie pop, with his stunning voice just barely masking his anger beneath the hook." Zion currently lives in Chicago with his girlfriend and his cat. While getting settled in a new city, he is exploring folk venues and putting together a professional band to dig into the midwest rock scene. He will be touring from Chicago to Boston in early May of 2018.Click here to see all the videos from this show
Steve Cooper talks with singer/songwriter Jeffrey Gaines. Jeffrey's self-titled 1992 debut drew critical praise from far and wide, and put him on the musical map as an introspective folk-rock artist. The hookier, more rock-oriented Somewhat Slightly Dazed followed in 1994 and marked the end of his tenure with Chrysalis. In 1998 he returned with Galore, this time via the Rykodisc label. Always Be, released in 2001, contained a stripped-down cover of Peter Gabriel's 1986 hit In Your Eyes, a longtime staple of his concerts and a song he'd become associated with by many fans. Later that same year he was invited by producer Nile Rodgers to sing on the album We Are Family, which benefited victims of the 9/11 attacks in New York. Still riding some of the success of the In Your Eyes single, He paired up with producer Mitchell Froom to record 2003's Toward the Sun, his second release for Artemis Records. Throughout the next decade, he focused largely on touring both in the U.S. and Europe, releasing the acoustic Jeffrey Gaines Live in 2004 followed in 2012 by Live in Europe, which was captured during a tour supporting Joe Jackson. In 2018, 15 years after his last studio effort, he returned with his sixth album, Alright.

Join us this week as we welcome the pop rock band, Cornerstone. Hailing from Austria, which may be known as the classical music center of the world, but make no mistake - Cornerstone is here to rock! The band, composed of Alina Peter (Vocals, Guitars), Michael Wachelhofer (Bass, Keyboard, Vocals), Steve Wachelhofer (Guitar, Vocals) and Christoph Karas (Drums, Percussion), got signed by the US-based label ATOM Records back in 2008 and have done numerous tours through Europe and America. Cornerstone was able to do a mixture of headlining club shows and shared larger stages with acts such as The Animals, John Waite (Bad English, The Babys), New Model Army, and American singer/songwriter Jeffrey Gaines, to name a few. The band released their debut album "Head Over Heels" in fall 2008 followed by their sophomore album "Somewhere in America" in 2011. Recently, in September of 2016, they relesed their latest album "Reflections" which is available now at digital outlets everywhere. They also just released their first music video from the new album "Last Night". The band is going to tour through Europe again, including United Kingdom, Germany, The Netherlands, Luxembourg and of course Austria. Enjoy this unhip, uncool and un-sexy music! We will talk to Cornerstone about their upcoming schedule, get a behind the scenes look at their music, feature their latest songs, and ask them to share their message for the troops. Please be sure to visit Cornerstone at http://www.cornerstone.co.at/en/ and spread the word. Fans are welcome to call in and speak live with them during the show (718) 766-4193. And as always we will give shout outs to our deployed military listeners. Our message to the troops: WE do what we do, because YOU do what you do.
Jeffrey Gaines joins Eric in conversation. We cover a lot of ground in this Part 2 of 2, picking up on his second record which was recorded and then scraped and re-recorded, very interesting story! Also lots of talk about his views on performing, how important it is to connect with a song, his views on writing, recording and what's next, his views on crowd-funding, is there a new record coming? Really wonderful conversation with this fantastic and unique artist.
Jeffrey Gaines joins Eric in conversation. We talk about his early days discovering music through his family, what influence being from a smaller town, his ultra-cool mother and all the rock stars of the day had on him, his first steps into bands, recording and songwriting. We cover a lot of ground in this Part 1 of 2. How he was invited to replace a newly departed Lenny Kravitz in a Capital Records project, his move to Philly and eventually the steps that led up to his debut album in 1992.
