This discussion takes place on the Mail List which is open to all HPR listeners and contributors. The discussions are open and available on the HPR server under Mailman. The threaded discussions this month can be found here: http://hackerpublicradio.org/pipermail/hpr_hackerpublicradio.org/2021-May/thread.html Events Calendar With the kind permission of LWN.net we are linking to The LWN.net Community Calendar. Quoting the site: This is the LWN.net community event calendar, where we track events of interest to people using and developing Linux and free software. Clicking on individual events will take you to the appropriate web page. Any other business Reminder - Stuff you need to know HPR will stop as a project if there are not enough shows. We do not syndicate shows not produced for HPR. You are agreeing to license your show CC-BY-SA. You have permission to redistribute your show in its entirety. Your show will not be moderated. Your show will be signaled as containing explicit content. You determine where in the schedule your show will be released. We use UTF-8 end to end. Your show will be heard by an International Audience. We also need emergency shows. You will no longer be allowed to edit HPR pages on Wikipedia. Reminder - Scheduling Guidelines You must have your audio recording ready to upload before you pick a slot. Always try and fill any free slots that are available in the upcoming two weeks. If the queue is filling up then please consider leaving some slots free for new contributors. If you have a non urgent show then find a empty week and schedule it then. If you are uploading a series of shows, consider scheduling one every two weeks. Older HPR shows on archive.org This month 96 additional shows in the range 1-870 have been uploaded to the Internet Archive. Since we don't want to upload shows without summaries or tags the old shows and tag and summary projects are now tied together. So we will be all the more welcoming of tag and summary updates submitted as described on the summary page. Tags and Summaries Thanks to the following contributor for sending in updates in the past month: Dave Morriss Over the period tags and/or summaries have been added to 7 shows which were without them. There are currently 377 shows which need a summary and/or tags. If you would like to contribute to the tag/summary project visit the summary page at https://hackerpublicradio.org/report_missing_tags.php and follow the instructions there.

Posting Anonymously HPR supports anonymous posting Use Tor browser Sign up on a temporary email address https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disposable_email_address Select your slot and check for the confirmation email Post your show as normal - but add a note to say it's an anonymous user. Older HPR shows on archive.org The project to upload the older HPR shows to archive.org has been quiescent for a few years. The shows between 1 and 870 had not been uploaded prior to April 2021 (though some shows had been uploaded in batches in the early days, without notes etc). However, this old show project has been restarted this month, after new software had been written to help manage the process. At the time of writing 65 shows in the range 1-870 have been uploaded, with notes, and with the same range of audio formats used for current shows. Since we don't want to upload shows without summaries or tags the two projects are now tied together. So we will be all the more welcoming of tag and summary updates sent to the address referenced in the next section! The plan is to report the numbers uploaded each month in the AOB section of the Community News show notes. HPR shows on archive.org have the URL https://archive.org/details/hprXXXX where XXXX is the show number with leading zeroes. So for example, show 840's URL is: https://archive.org/details/hpr0840. Tags and Summaries Thanks to the following contributors for sending in updates in the past month: Dave Morriss, Windigo Over the period tags and/or summaries have been added to 23 shows which were without them. There are now 384 shows which need a summary and/or tags. Former Lily Mine employees embarked on a peaceful march and handed over a memorandum of grievances to the Mpumalanga High Court in Mbombela. They are calling on the court to set aside or fast-track the court case between owners of the mine- Vantage Goldfields, Business Rescue Practitioners and the potential investor, Arqomanzi. Last Month, the High court granted Arqomanzi an interim order preventing the implementation of an amended rescue plan. The business rescue practitioners are accused of amending the plan without consulting creditors.

In September 2019, I found myself at a bothersome crossroads. The first road led to a fate where I keep pushing, forcing and hustling in my business in an unembodied way (what I had been doing, but didn’t want to admit to myself). The second road took me down a very short culdesac where I metaphorically threw my spiritual business that I took a year and a half to build straight into the void. I ended up choosing the second path and closed the doors to my business, shut down my website and came off social media. Since I was no longer able to manifest money through my soul’s purpose, I did what most millennials who have no f*cking clue what they’re doing with their lives do. I got a job at a coffee shop. Over the past year, I’ve gone through massive initiations and a deep return to mySelf through the gentle magic of everyday human life. I would even boldly state that this last year has been more transformative than the time periods before or during the creation, establishment and operation of my online business. As of a month ago, I am working in my business again and feel more aligned, sovereign, nourished and expansive than I did before. Tune into the episode for soul lessons, human wisdom and funny anecdotes. The Revelations: #1: I was pining for a deep, messy initiation into my own humanity. #2: My privacy is sacred and juicy. #3: Social media and the success of my business were STILL ruling my self-worth. #4: I don’t have to constantly work on my soul’s growth and expansion. #5: New Age spirituality isn’t my path, it was just the first leg of my spiritual journey. #6: I was a holier-than-thou spiritual a**hole. #7: I have a kinky obsession with chaos. #8: The embodied feminine means nothing without the safe, disciplined structure of the embodied masculine. #9: If my business were a spirit animal, it would be a python. #10: I’m meant to run a business in a wildly magical way that makes no sense to muggles, but I’m glad I tried and failed at doing it the muggle way first. #11: My life initiations are far more potent in my power as a medicine woman than any of my official qualifications. #12: I know absolutely nothing. #13: I’m not here to save people. We’ve talked about it on the show before - a potential positive of the pandemic for CT is the newfound attractiveness of living outside of major cities like New York and Boston. Last Month, Governor Ned Lamont stood in the rain next to a UHaul truck to tout the buying boom in the state. "More people are coming to Connecticut than ever before," Lamont said. "Tens of thousands of people have moved or changed their address to the state of Connecticut in the last few months. They’re buying. They’re renting, and they’re building." But in a state where housing prices are already high, and stock of affordable housing is already too low, bidding wars with fleeing New Yorkers have been driving up the price of single-family homes, making it even harder for many Connecticut residents to buy. Among the many wide gaps between rich and poor, and between racial groups that Connecticut is known for, the gap in homeownership is one of the biggest. Jacqueline Rabe Thomas of the CT Mirror dug into this issue for our series “A Better Deal: Exploring Inclusive Economic Recovery” See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Last Month, we lost best-selling author, iconic reporter and journalistic pioneer Mary Martha Corinne Morrison Claiborne Roberts, "Cokie" to her family, friends, colleagues and the tens of millions of Americans who read her column or watched and listened to her every week on NPR and ABC News.Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, she learned politics at an early age. Both her father and her mother served for decades in the United States Congress. An award winning political reporter and analyst, Cokie Roberts, along with Eleanor Clift, NPR's Linda Wertheimer and Nina Totenberg transformed the male dominated world of Washington political journalism. An Emmy Award winner, Cokie Roberts also earned other honors, including the Edward R. Murrow Award, the Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for coverage of Congress and the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism. In 2000, she was inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame. With all the impeachment news weren’t able to properly pay tribute to her life and legacy. And so, this week, to honor groundbreaking journalist Cokie Roberts, we put her 2013 commencement address at LSU into the Words Matter Library. The Affiliate Guy with Matt McWilliams: Marketing Tips, Affiliate Management, & More
I got an email from an affiliate recently asking about promoting the same product for the third time. Is this wise? Or perhaps there are advantages to doing so? Here's what he wrote me along with my response: I have run the promo the past two years and it has gone well. Just a bit worried that it may be played out to my audience. As well, the people who have opted in previously are already on Michael’s list. So, not sure of the effectiveness this year. ==MY RESPONSE== That's a common misconception...very common. And totally wrong. Watch who does well on leaderboards with similar list sizes. It's the guys who are promoting something for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th times. 3 reasons: 1. You know how to promote it 2. You get the ADVANTAGE of those people who've followed Michael for the past year and NOW you recommend something again. I mean talk about WARM leads dude. 3. The workload is less because you can copy a lot from previous years and focus on things like bonuses and FB lives Don't NOT promote and miss out on all the people you sent the last two years. THIS is the year you really capitalize on them. And remember two more things: 1. X% of your list is new. 20%? 50%? Those people don't know about this 2. Even the people who DID get the promo last year don't remember it. Dude, they don't even remember what you sent this LAST MONTH or even last week. EPISODE #65: RECAP OF LAST MONTH'S WEDDING IN INDIA PART 2 Summary: Following on from my recap of Last Month’s Wedding in India Part 1 which looked at the logistics and planning of an Indian destination wedding, in this episode, we’ll get into the nitty gritty of actually photographing the entire event. I’ll explain what took place on each of the four-day celebrations, including the bridal shower and Mehndi ceremony at the bride’s parents house, followed by a lively Sangeet at a museum-like venue, and the Hindu ceremony and reception at a party plot in Ahmedabad. This episode includes some of my insights and lessons learned from photographing an Indian destination wedding. I’ll explain the challenges of working alongside local videography and photography teams, and some of the time constraints we were under. I’ll also talk about some of the real joys and privileges of photographing a destination wedding in India, particularly the people I got to meet along the way. From the bride and groom’s immediate family to their welcoming friends, I was made to feel like I was one of the guests throughout this amazing week. If you’re planning on capturing cultural weddings or a destination wedding in the near future, then this is a good opportunity to get a heads-up about what to expect and plan accordingly. Subscribe and leave a rating and review on iTunes!
Welcome to episode 133, this week I get stuck into a whole bunch of things. Is Sales Navigator essential to get a good SSI score? First up, I saw this interesting update from Ankur Chaudhary LinkedIn say that using Sales Navigator is a major help in improving your SSI but they don’t go so far as to suggest it’s essential. Ankur’s experience would suggest different! Premium Members Get LinkedIn Learning for Free - well some do! If you are interested in LinkedIn Learning then you might want to read this article; How LinkedIn Learning Helps You And Your Team Achieve More Job Seeker, Business Plus and Executive accounts get full Learning memberships for free, which is amazing but I fail to understand why the higher level Sales Navigator and Recruiters get nothing - crazy! New Feature! LinkedIn Introduce Mobile Update Insights We used to have this feature on the desktop version until they removed it a few years ago, much to my annoyance as I always liked to analyse the performance of my updates to work out best practice. Now they have re-introduced it to mobile only for now but my guess is that we will probably see this as part of the new desktop design (whenever that comes!) How to see your insights 1) Go to the 'Me' page and you will see the link in the bottom right section 2) Tap here to reveal the list of your shares and scroll down until you find the one you wish to view. 3) Now tap on the icon highlighted below which gives you the number of total views 4) Now you will see the viewer stats by company initially 5) Now swipe to the left to reveal the breakdown by job title and again by location. I found that image updates are performing much better than video or link updates The average number of views for my last 30 status updates are as follows; Link updates - 236 Video updates - 462 Image updates - 854* *These updates were also all done first thing in the morning The lack of video playback ‘in the stream’ on the mobile app is partly responsible for the lack of attention video updates are getting. Here is the image update I posted last week to demonstrate the comparison with Instagram (ironically this update was the most viewed of the 30 I analysed!) 6) Now scroll down to see where your viewers are in your network. This will usually mostly be 1st degree but if you get a high number of likes/comments you may find other tiers are higher. Now you will be able to get a much better sense of what updates are working for you and resonating with your followers/connections so that you can make adjustments accordingly. Last Month, Beyoncé’s "Lemonade" visual album was released and fans were treated to an hour-long portrayal of the singer's journey to forgiveness after apparent betrayal in her marriage. The album is replete with scenes of prayer, fasting, baptism, God, and the devil,In this episode Troy continues dealing with the false prophet and his performed signs and shows how many of the occult rituals that are found in Beyoncé’s video are condemned in the word of God and how we as God's people should respond to that.
