AirTalk is off this week, so we'll be supplying our podcast listeners with reruns of our Southern California history segments. Today's episode is on the Tustin Hangars. If you'd like to suggest a topic for a future SoCal history segment, email it to atcomments@laist.com. Orange County is still in a state of emergency after smoke and debris from the Tustin hangar fire tested positive for asbestos and other toxins last week. Tustin schools remain closed. The fire broke out at Tustin's Marine Corps Air Station early Tuesday morning, irreparably damaging one of two historic blimp hangars there. The hangars were built in 1942 to hold Lighter-Than-Air aircrafts, or LTAs, that patrolled the U.S. coastline during World War II. At 17 stories high, more than 1,000 feet long, and 300 feet wide, the hangars were two of the largest wooden structures in the world. They've been mostly vacant since the base was decommissioned in 1999, sometimes serving as a shooting location for films and commercials. Now, the north hangar (Hangar 1) will have to be demolished completely. The south hangar (Hangar 2) is still standing, but there are no current plans to preserve it. The Marine Corps community is reeling from the loss. Joining Larry to discuss the hangars' history, significance, and the fight for preservation are Brian Delahaut, retired Marine Colonel stationed at Tustin between 1983 and 1995, and Chris Jepsen, local historian and president of the Orange County Historical Society.

There's a group in regional Queensland that claims to have no name. Members meet in each other's homes on Wednesdays and Sundays. They don't have any of their beliefs written down, though they do sing hymns from a particular hymn book. A lot of what they follow sounds incredibly similar to a group that also claimed to have no name but was often referred to as the Two by Twos or The Truth. This one doesn't have pairs of ‘workers' who travel around and stay with community members, however. That job was left up to its founder, a man named Robert Barlow. Happy Friday Smut Kittens! On this episode of LTAS, Halle and Taylor *dive* (wink, wink) into Does It Hurt by HD Carlton. After seeing this book all over Bookstagram and BookTok and having their listeners request an episode on it, the ladies were excited to see what the hype was all about. But unlike Sawyer and Enzo, they weren't swept away by its tide. So let's talk about it! Your crazy co-hosts get into the nitty gritty of the character development, the overall plot, and of course those insane smut scenes. **It is advised to check trigger warnings before reading this book or listening to this episode. This is a very dark and graphic romance with many violent and disturbing triggers.**

The wait is finally over. The end of an era is upon us. And there are lots of thoughts and feelings over here. On this episode of LTAS, Halle is joined by guest host and fellow bookstagrammer Lex @thewellreadlex to discuss Sarah J Maas's Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses. *Spoiler Warning: This is a discussion episode where we talk about the two series as a whole. If you have not read Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses, please be aware.* The ladies dive into which series they loved more, what their preferred reading order is, and take on fandom hot takes. Is Chaol redeemable? Should Elide and Manon have ended up together? Is Tower of Dawn worth the read (the answer is yes)? Did Rowan go too far in his training of Aelin? Hmm... you'll have to listen to find out! Lex and Halle also compare Rowan and Aelin's relationship to Cassian and Nesta's, discuss THAT beach scene, and question why their husbands have never shaken the mountains by roaring "where is my wife" at the top of their lungs.
Your daring co-hosts are back to talk about The Dare by Harley LaRoux! This may be a novella, but damn, does it pack a smut-filled punch. Halle tries to get Taylor to give a nun her copy of The Dare at the airport, the ladies' Bahamas spring break trip is brought up, Taylor confirms she does in fact have a specific kink, and the Midnight Cowboy is back with his pressed wranglers and cowboy boots (yee-haw). Give it a listen... they dare you. (see what we did there?) **As always, it is advised to check trigger warnings before reading.** If you enjoyed this episode, please consider leaving a rating/review and subscribe so you don't miss out on new episodes!
