Fun ! Passion ! Singerie ! Ape City News - Ep#0 - Un Jeu de Rôle Planet of the Apes pour cet automne ! RICH HANDLEY a également participé.

Saul was persuing the internet looking at Steam Punk RPGs and stumbled across Carbon Grey a Diesel Punk RPG by Magnetic Press. It uses a slightly tweaked version of the Classic Star Wars D6 system. Its quick and easy to understand and play. That Star Wars D6 system has always been liked for its playablity and fun. Carbon Grey is set in a alternate world where the 1st Kaiser is saved by a shepard that was struck by a meteorite which gets lodged in his chest and games super powers. The Kaiser makes him his bodyguard. That shepard's children hand super powers though not as powerful as their father. They are all female and are called the Sisters Grey. The KaIser uses the Sisters as shock troops and special forces unit and they kick ass. With the Sisters Grey the Kaiser is able to form an empire that lasts hundred years. Early in the 20th Century some countries revolt and a war ensues. This is the setting for Carbon Grey. It was based on a set of comic books which are now available as graphic novels. Also published by Magnetic Press. Age of Steel also calls itself a Diesel Punk game. Its setting is also around the 1920's in a very Earth like world called Neres. But where Mechs are utilized in much of the world. From mechs that are used to load heavy equipment to mechs made for war. It is also uses a D6 dice pool system but it is unique to this system. You get to throw as many D6s as your attribute and your skill dictates what you need to roll for a success. Seems super simple and easy to understand. As Always Thank You All for Listening. Episode 473 is another great Kickstarter doubleheader show, this one with Mike Kennedy and Caleb Thusat! First up is Mike Kennedy from Magnetic Press, one of my new favorite comics producers! Mike talks about their eclectic comics offerings, including Waluk by Emilio Ruiz and Ana Miralles! His Kickstarter is for Monolith, which is described as “BLACK MIRROR meets BREAKDOWN in this lushly illustrated survival tale.” It concludes on March 5, 2021, at 7 p.m. ET, and it is so very worthy of your support. Be sure to check out their online catalog here! A word of warning—I had some technical difficulties during our interview, so if you need to turn up the volume for this portion of the show, please do! Don’t miss what Mike has to say! Then everything concludes with the return of Caleb Thusat, who is crowdfunding his latest comic, Flytrap! It’s described this way: “Terminator meets Back to the Future. The 1986 remake of The Fly inspires the invention of time travel. What could possibly go wrong??” It will conclude on Sunday, February 28, at 11:00 p.m. ET. This is just the latest of Caleb’s excellent comics, the rest of which you can check out here! I highly recommend this terrific one-shot, so don’t miss it!

This week we’re talking with Mike Kennedy, the founder and publisher of Magnetic Press. Magnetic is reintroducing itself to the market now that it’s operating as an autonomous unit again. Previously, it published graphic novels from foreign markets as a collection under Lion Forge. But as a product of last year’s Lion Forge-Oni Press merger, Magnetic is now an independent unit again, though still under parent company Polarity. We talk to Mike about all of that, going to shows like ComicsPRO and Angouleme, what kind of books he has coming up this spring, and much more.
The three amigos unite, and without a guest this week take a moment to recommend lots of fantastic indie comics, do some awesome comics talk and go a little mad all for the sake of your entertainment! It was a rainy Sunday afternoon, and I was in the Times Square area of Manhattan. I had a half hour to myself, so I did what I'm supposed to do in a situation like that: I went to the comic shop. On today's podcast, I talk about my trip to the store and what I found there. Sometimes, it's fun just to get lost. If you have no game plan, you never know what surprises might pop up. I kept an eye out for European comics, naturally, and got the chance to see what Magnetic Press and IDW, in particular, are up to these days. There are some very nice print books out there today. The New York Comic Con is over for 2019, and I'm here to pick up the pieces. The revived Harvey Awards had a Best European Book. DC continues to expand its Black Label line and looks more and more like a European publisher every day. Magnetic Press re-organizes and I think it's a great thing, though I'm not completely sure why. In sad news, Spirou writer/artist Tome passed away over the weekend, too. Our last episode was about Tijuana and what life was like on the border for Edgar Morales. Edgar also talked about what it was like for him to migrate into America and go to college. He recognised how fortunate he was to have such opportunities, aware of how difficult and dangerous the journey can be for others, even for some of his own friends and relatives. This week, we continue on this theme, and hear about one person's dangerous trek into America from Mexico. We talk to Tony Sandoval, three-time Eisner-nominated comic writer and illustrator who recently released an autobiographical graphic novel called "Rendezvous in Phoenix" published by Magnetic Press. Tony made his way across the border to reunite with his girlfriend but also to try to fulfil his dream of becoming a comic book writer. Tony now lives in Geneva and has reached international acclaim with several published books under his belt. In which, Mike Kennedy rejoins the Therefore I Geek crew to talk about some exciting news from Magnetic Press. We discuss the new subscription service that they offer, a new, digital first book, and the book Tracy has been drooling over for months. There were some pretty serious technical difficulties during this episode, due to the fickle nature of Skype, but the content was interesting and important, and we wanted to go ahead and share it with you guys.
Another Previews catalog showed up on their doorsteps, so it's time to gaze into the tomorrow of October 2015 and see what catches Mike and Greg's eyes. One-Punch Man! Claymore! All that, plus some thoughts on the Morrison-led Heavy Metal's future, just what a Duncan Fregredo comic from 1990 would look like, whether or not there's a tipping point for Image Comics' line output, why Tim Drake had such a great set-up as Robin, the varying styles of small-a 'artist editions', and so much more!
