Martin Gross is the founder and chief executive officer of Gross-Wen Technologies. His vision for using algae to clean water and solve many other of the Earth's problems is driving the rapid expansion of Gross-Wen. After founding Gross-Wen Technologies in 2016, Gross led the development and commercialization of the revolving algal biofilm™️ treatment technology (RAB™️), a sustainable, next generation wastewater treatment system using algae. The RAB system recovers nitrogen and phosphorus from wastewater, produces clean water and air, and yields valuable algae biomass. Propelling the growth of Gross-Wen, Gross led substantial equity investments, Department of Energy and Agriculture grant funding awards exceeding $3 million, $15 million in equity investments and the approval of more than ten patents. Gross-Wen Technologies won the Carbon Zero Grand Challenge from a project with PUB, Singapore's water agency. A frequent speaker and respected thought leader, Gross' work is essential in pollution mitigation, offsetting climate change, and using algae as a nascent industry. His deep knowledge includes growing algae, fermentation, biofuels, renewable energy, wastewater, and agriculture. He serves on the board of directors of the Algae Biomass Organization and the Iowa Biotechnology Association. After earning a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from Iowa State University, Gross went on to earn a doctorate in food science and technology and a doctorate in biosystems engineering. Gross is on the faculty at Iowa State University, where he developed and teaches a course called Entrepreneurship for Graduate Students in Science and Engineering. Gross' Ph.D. in food science focused on growing microorganisms to make foods and chemical nutraceuticals. To this end, he founded GW Nutrition a food ingredient company that aims to improve the sensory profile of alternative proteins and make them easier to include in food formulations; GW Nutrition, Inc. is a spin-off from GWT. When he is away from the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and playing with his four young children. https://algae.com/ https://www.nexuspmg.com/

Martin Gross is the Founder and President of Gross-Wen Technologies, a next generation wastewater treatment company that makes use of microalgae to provide a sustainable and efficient alternative to conventional water treatment methods. As President, he has raised over $3 million in Angel and Series A investments, applied for numerous patents, and served as Principal Investigator in non-diluting SBIR grant funding. Martin has a Ph.D. in Agriculture & Biosystems Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology from Iowa State University. Martin joins me today to discuss the potential of microalgae in innovating the world’s wastewater treatment industry. He explains how their technology works, what sets it apart from traditional methods, and why he believes their process is sustainable and efficient. He also shares how they grow microalgae and why we shouldn’t worry about the possibility of algae-produced toxicity in water as well as describes how accelerators impacted the growth of his company. “How do you have a successful business with algae? There are two ways today. That is to clean water or produce high-value algae products.” - Martin Gross This Week on The Future of Agriculture Podcast: How Gross-Wen Technologies grows and farms algae. The major advantage of algae to bacteria or chemical to clean nitrogen phosphorus from water. Where the nitrogen-phosphorus in water originates. Martin's background and how he started Gross-Wen Technologies. What piqued his interest in starting a business. How the technology works and how they validated the process. What makes their system much more efficient and cost-effective than conventional algae-growing technology? The challenges in growing one species of algae. How have accelerators impacted his business? Key Takeaways: Algae is better than bacteria or chemicals when it comes to cleaning water. An efficient water treatment system is sustainable. Martin Gross, author of “National Suicide” will talk about how America is in the process of self destruction. “Stalin's economic organization has been remarkably successful.” (1989 - Harvard's Robert B. Reich, former Labor Secretary under Bill Clinton. Another admirer of Soviet central planning was another American communist, namely Alan S. Blinder, former Fed Governor and still professor at Princeton University. He said, “The real question is not whether we want elements of socialism on planning to abridge our personal freedom, but by how much.” That's the intellectual backdrop that suggested we could live beyond our means. Government allocation of scarce resource funded by a printing press with an unlimited capacity to spend in the absence of a gold standard has led to unlimited debt, future poverty and enslavement. We will ask Martin Gross for ways to fix this problem and how he thinks we can prepare personally for the death of America as we have known it.
Since Nixon took us off the international gold standard in 1971, spending by the U.S. government as well as individuals and corporations has run amok. Martin Gross, author of “National Suicide” reports that government is not only spending trillions of dollars it doesn't have and thus sentencing our children to a life of poverty, but its programs are in many instances downright fraudulent. Even those programs that may not be riddled with fraud and abuse have had many negative unintended consequences. For example, even though the government has spent several trillion dollars for welfare since 2000, the number of people below the poverty line has risen above the 37 million Americans since then. Foreign policies relating to China and immigration are also destroying our living standards. The national government spending scam is resulting in the rich getting richer at the expense of the middle class. What can be done to stop this horrible trend? Author Martin Gross will explain.
