Paul Axton Preaches: Romans 3:25 is a key verse in determining Christ's relationship to the Temple. Is he a sacrifice of atonement to be fit into the Temple and Law, or is he the (hilasterion) Mercy Seat providing access to revelation of righteousness which is salvation? Crystal Rivers | Open Book | Apr 1, 2025 Your covenant with God isn't a one-sided agreement where He does everything while you passively receive. It's a relationship requiring active participation from both parties. Just as you wouldn't sign important documents without reading the terms, you must understand what you've committed to—the promises, tokens, terms, and oaths that constitute your covenant relationship. To truly know God goes beyond intellectual understanding. You cannot know someone from a distance. Draw near, enter that tent of meeting, sit in His presence. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, guiding you into all truth through intimate communion, not just during designated prayer times but in continual fellowship throughout your day. Your labor is to know God deeply—to understand He exercises loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. His seat is the Mercy Seat, His mercy renewed daily. Before you can even use today's portion, tomorrow's fresh supply awaits. He keeps covenant and shows loyal love to thousands who love Him in return. Are you glorying in the right things? Not in wisdom, might, or riches, but in understanding and knowing the Lord. To abide in this knowledge requires judging idols of the heart—those secret compartments where rival affections compete for your devotion. Understand that Christ is not just someone you follow—He is a place you dwell in, your true inheritance. The protection promised in Psalm 91 isn't automatic but conditional on actively dwelling in the secret place, setting your love upon Him, and knowing His name. These aren't mere words to quote but conditions to fulfill. Your spiritual lineage is no longer determined by flesh and blood. Through Christ's blood, you've been liberated from every generational cycle. There is no legal ground for the enemy to stand on—those cases have been dismissed. Even if you've sold your birthright like Esau, recovery is possible when you become restless against oppression and break the yoke from your neck. True priesthood is agreement with God, but certain defects can prevent this communion: - Blindness: Unable to see what God is truly saying - Lameness: Unwilling to move forward in obedience - Disfigurement: Traumatized by past experiences - Broken hands or feet: Unable to grasp truth or walk in spiritual disciplines - Hunchback perspective: Focused on earthly gain rather than heavenly purpose - Stunted growth: Unchanged despite encounters with God - Defective vision: Operating from impure motives - Unfruitfulness: Unable to reproduce life in others The good news is that Jesus is the Great Physician who heals these defects. His signs include making the blind see, the lame walk, and bringing the dead to life. Your transformation requires more than mental assent—it demands the work of believing deeply enough that your consciousness changes. When you believe who you are in Christ, that identity becomes your reality. The unforced rhythms of grace teach you to live freely and lightly. Stop carrying yokes you weren't meant to bear. This world's best offering is death, but in Christ, you've been given life—abundant, eternal, and available now. From the beginning God had a plan to dwell with man. And before the coming of Christ, God graciously provided a picture to show us the way of salvation, and the way back into His presence. This is clearly seen in two pieces of furniture within the Old Testament Tabernacle: The Ark of the Covenant and the Mercy Seat. Thanks to the movie, The Raiders of the Lost Ark, most people have heard of the Ark of the Covenant, and yet do we understand its central role in Old Testament worship? Today, we'll unpack Exodus 25 teachings on the tabernacle and the ark, the showbread and the lampstand. Join us for this important study on these important topics! DISCUSSION AND STUDY QUESTIONS: 1. Verse 9 contains the first time the term “tabernacle” is used. When not being used of the official tabernacle, how also could this word be used? What did the podcast explain is the idea behind the term “tabernacle”? How is it sometimes used as a verb? 2. What was the specific dimensions of the tabernacle tent? What in our world is about that same size? Is this smaller than you were expecting? 3. In verse 2, what was supposed to prompt the people to donate supplies towards the construction of this tabernacle complex? In regard to their contributions, what had to happen in Exodus 36:5? What does this tell us about the people's heart to be involved with the Lord's work? 4. Of all the items that were built for the tabernacle, why was the ark listed first? What were the dimensions of this ark? Does this size surprise you? How about it's weight, what did it weigh and how was it moved around? How does this help us understand why Uzzah died when he touched the ark in 2nd Samuel 6:6-7? 5. What was special about the lid of the ark? What was to take place there on the Day of Atonement? It's often called “The Mercy Seat” but it can also be called “The Atonement Cover”. Which do you prefer and why? 6. Why did the podcast suggest that the golden cherubim (on top of the ark) did not violate the 2nd Commandment to make no graven images? What did the podcast suggest that these golden cherubim teach us? How? 7. The podcast explained that the Hebrew term for “cover” is “Kaphar”, which is also the root word for “atonement”. Kaphar was used in Genesis 6:14 when the Lord had Noah make his ark out of wood that was covered (kaphar) with tar. What did the High Priest do at the ark once a year on the Day of Atonement? What does this signify? How does this help us understand the covering (or the atonement) that we have in Christ's blood? 8. Verse 23-30 is talking about the showbread. What is it also called in verse 30? How does verse 30 help us understand the showbread was to signify? According to Leviticus 24:5-9, how often was the showbread to be made? Who would eat the old showbread? 9. How does the showbread point us to Jesus, who calls Himself the Bread of Life in John 6:32-35? 10. The golden lampstand is described in verses 31 to 40. Where was this placed and what was it for? According to Exodus 27:20-21, who was to keep this lamp burning? How is Jesus the fulfillment of this lamp in John 8:12? 11. How does the tabernacle teach us that God's presence is not automatic? Why would the Lord want to teach this lesson to the people? What needs to happen to us to have eternal fellowship with Him? 12. How does this whole chapter help us understand the perfect tabernacle and atonement offering of Jesus in Hebrews 9:11-12? Check out our Bible Study Guide on the Key Chapters of Genesis! A Psalm of Thanksgiving Psalm 100 “Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands! Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.” Today, on Thanksgiving Day, we are going to jump ahead to Psalm 100. It is interesting to note that this is the only Psalm that has the title “A Psalm of Thanksgiving”. It is thought that David is the writer of this Psalm even though we don't have his name in the title. Some believe that Psalm 100 is the doxology to the previous Psalms of 93 to 99 that prophetically proclaim that Jehovah is King. If you take the time to read all of these Psalms together, you will see a wonderful picture of the Lord coming to judge the earth and setting up His kingdom. Psalm 98:1-3 summarizes this beautifully: “Oh, sing to the LORD a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory. The LORD has made known His salvation; His righteousness He has revealed in the sight of the nations. He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.” Then in verses 8-9, it concludes with: “Let the rivers clap their hands; Let the hills be joyful together before the LORD, For He is coming to judge the earth. With righteousness He shall judge the world, And the peoples with equity.” In the Old Testament the common Hebrew could never go into the Holy of Holies, where the Presence of Jehovah dwelt on the Mercy Seat over the Ark of the Covenant. The Gentile was not even allowed to go into the courtyard of the Tabernacle or Temple. But Calvary has changed all that for the person, and any and everyone who will accept the perfect sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. “All the earth”, that is everyone can join together to make a “joyful noise or shout” to the Lord! Because of our grateful hearts knowing our sins are forgiven we can “serve the Lord with gladness”. We serve and surrender our all to Him not because we are forced to do so, but because we want to! We are so happy serving Him wherever He sends us that we can't help but sing! Happy and fulfilled people are a singing people! Our music is a reflection and response to the true condition of our hearts and lives! We can't help but sing when we sense His presence in our midst! The only way to “know that the LORD, He is God”, is to have relationship with His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus prayed this in John 17:3, “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” In John 10, Jesus proclaims that He is the Great and Good Shepherd Who laid down His life for the sheep. He is the gate, the only door, through which we can enter to find “green pasture” and enjoy “abundant life” forever! (John 10:9-11). “We are His people and the sheep of His pasture”! What else can we do but be thankful and praise Him with our worship in adoration and song. We bless Him because He has blessed us! No matter what happens good or bad in our lives, He is always good, and His mercy is everlasting! Sounds like the last verse in Psalm 23, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever”! You will never have to worry about anything changing concerning God's love, His mercy, His faithfulness, His goodness, and His grace, because “His truth endures to all generations”. God doesn't love anyone else more than He loves and cares for you today! So today, take time to worship and thank Him! God bless!

Romans 3:22-26 Our Mercy Seat
By Gary Petty in Murfreesboro, TN - October 12, 2024 - The tabernacle was the most holy place. God's presence was there.
God in mercy for the sinner sent His Son, Jesus Christ as a Saviour. In our sins, each one of us has fallen short of the glory of God. No good works or church attendance can improve our standing before a holy God. The scripture says all our righteousness are as filthy rags. There is only one way back to God and that is through Gods son, Jesus Christ. The post The Mercy Seat appeared first on Preachers Corner.

What was the purpose of the Tabernacle in the Scriptures? Why does God spend so many chapters laying out the construction of the tabernacle and what does that have to do with us in 2024? The reality is, many of us have lost what God is teaching His people in Exodus. That God is holy and we are sinful, and in order for us to experience his presence we need to understand the chasm between us and God. The Tabernacle was God’s vessel in order to break down the barriers between our sin and His holiness. Visit us online at: www.RenewalChurch.net
Join us this week as we study Exodus 25:1-22. Within these verses we find timeless truth on the nature of participating in supporting ministry, the preciseness of God's intentionality, and most beautifully, deep lessons on the role of mercy in how God leads us and how we must reflect His character to the world.
