In the realm of social justice, our pursuit for change often navigates through various channels, methodologies, and practices. Discover the empowering truth that you are worthy and successful, irrespective of the number of likes on your profile. Tune in to this thought-provoking episode and join the movement to redefine social status. Let's celebrate the unique qualities that make each of us a success in our own right, independent of the digital metrics that often dominate our online experiences. It's time to break the mold, embrace authenticity, and live confidently beyond the constraints of likes. Remember, you are more than a number.
Social media is a vibrant tapestry woven with threads of connection, communication, and community. It's a space where ideas flow, friendships flourish, and voices resonate across borders. However, in the whirlwind of constant updates and information overload, it's easy to lose sight of the impact our online presence can have on our well-being and that of others.
In this episode, Celeste The Therapist and Dr. Caroline Baker, mental health counseling instructor and co-author of the book “An Influencer's World”, talks about social media and how it impacts our well-being. This session is all about what we can do to navigate it responsibly. We may tend to be dependent on social media for engagements as a source of validation in this digital age. This episode teaches us the importance of setting limits, becoming aware of our emotions, and controlling our habits as we immerse ourselves in social media. One of the things that has been highlighted in conversations over the past few months is the love/hate relationship that so many hsp/empath entrepreneurs have with social media, specifically Instagram and the need to “show up” — on one hand, the platform is draining and demanding and feels like a cycle we can't escape from, and on the other, it's helpful and at times necessary for our business goals and getting our work into the world. So I thought I'd pop onto the podcast this week to share my own IG approach and how I've been learning to use Instagram in a way that is healthier when it comes to my needs as a sensitive soul. Social media can be DAUNTING. And for those of us who work on it, it can also be DISTRACTING and anxiety-inducing, with all of the changes, adjustments and new skills needed constantly to thrive in the online environment. Courtney Sjoberg cuts through all the fluff and gets right to the point: connecting with humans on social media intentionally through good quality hashtags (not "banned" or "blackhole" hashtags) is THE secret sauce. So important in fact, that she created an entire thriving business out of helping online entrepreneurs with hashtags for their businesses. The Hashtag Files is her online membership where her team handpicks thousands of good quality hashtags each month, picks out the no-longer-effective-ones, supplies stock photos, incredible trainings, "create your own" hashtag lists and more! Janet Fouts new book “When Life Hits the Fan – A Mindful Guide to Caring for Yourself While Caring for Others,” is based on her own experience as a family caregiver and the experiences of dozens of caregivers she interviewed for the book. The book brings to life stories and the challenges faced by those who manage or assist in care for their loved ones. Janet includes exercises taken from her training in emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and positive psychology to help us understand what is causing us to respond in certain ways, and how to build resilience as well as compassion for ourselves and others. I think Janet would be an amazing guest on your show. She’s had podcasts of her own since 2000 and her most recent show, “Mindful Social” is on Spreaker https://www.spreaker. com/user/jfouts A bit more about Janet. She’s CEO of Tatu Digital Media, a San Jose digital marketing agency, and author of 6 books on that subject. In the last 5 years, she’s had extensive training in emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and positive psychology with the goal of building her own resilience and helping others do the same.

My guest on Mindful Social this week is Tara Muldoon. Tara is the founder of The F-You Project, a movement she started when she did not find justice in the justice system after being sexually assaulted. She saw an art show based on forgiveness from the UK and knew that forgiveness was the missing piece in her life. You probably use some form of social media, whether for personal use or for your organization. Janet Fouts joins the show to explore how mindfulness when it's applied to social media is different than just "doing" social media. Janet, CEO of Tatu Digital Marketing, talks about how just scheduling automated posts without followup engagement can sometimes be detrimental to really letting your followers get to know you as not just a brand but a person. They want to know they're dealing with a real human being. Janet reminds listeners there are ways to take a mindful approach to social media while still being efficient and practical.
What does mindful leadership look like? We know it’s a completely different animal than when many of us were young. Things looked fine when we were in a manufacturing environment, and now all of us are working in idea factories. Now everything is knowledge based, being thoughtful, mindful, and creative. Mindful social leadership is so much more than social media. It’s about active listening and being self aware at this moment. It’s about putting the device down and having a conversation.
