She navigated the emotional rollercoaster when her son went to jail in 'tent city'. She studied directly under Dolores Cannon.     117. Who are you being when no one is watching?

    It's one thing to be mindful of who you are being and how you are acting when you're around other people. We do this naturally - usually from a place of self consciousness and often, insecurity.  But, that's not what I'm interested in. Anybody can put on a mask for other people. The real question is: who are you being when NO ONE is watching? Who are you being when no one is there to congratulate you, validate you, like or comment on your "stuff"? Who is the person you are cultivating with your private thoughts and habits? Only you get to decide that. If you enjoy today's episode, please leave a review on iTunes and share it with your circle.     Every November, a slew of Black Friday and Cyber Monday emails and advertisements take over my inbox and social media feeds. And over the last couple of years, as I've become a more intentional, aware person, I've noticed the immediate instinct to "go buy now!" that comes up when I see these ads. It's not that the ads are bad by any means, most of them are really great opportunities to save money on products I already use and love. I just notice the desire to 'buy more, quickly!' during this season, even if it's not something I necessarily need or want to spend money on at that time... So when I connected with Abbey Trujillo from The Peach Vintage, I knew we needed to have a timely conversation about living, loving and second-hand shopping.     I ride roller-coasters all the time without visiting amusement parks... Yeah, I'm talking about my emotions. In any given day, I can go from HAPPY JOY JOY to WTF WORLD to *heavy crying*. And the last few months, it's felt a little more challenging to get to my usual "Marie Joy" if I'm being totally honest. But I think that's the most important thing, that we be honest and also normalize being a human. As a human, we get the opportunity to experience a wide variety of emotions. The full spectrum if you will. And I think that's a beautiful thing! Even if some of the emotions and experiences on that scale are downright painful and uncomfortable as hell. So I rode the roller-coaster today and as I was about to have a nap in an attempt to feel better, a little voice said, "it's burn out. You're experiencing burn out." And I felt so at peace even in the admitting of that. Today's episode is an honest conversation about burnout, what to do about it and my favourite "light up" list practice!     There's a lot of pissed-off-ness going on in the world right now. The storm is raging inside many people's hearts. But anger gets a bad rep. Sometimes life doesn't go the way we thought it would and we get upset when that happens. Sometimes, unjust things happen and we feel outraged at the experience. Sometimes we make choices that we didn't feel were really a choice (even though they were) that cause us to abandon our truth in an attempt to please the "other", and we're left with resentment. When we feel angry and don't have healthy ways of expressing ourselves, we bottle it up and then explode. Anger is a healthy emotion that we get to feel as part of the human experience. It's what we DO with our anger that makes all the difference. You have to feel it to heal it, my friend. (and in this episode, I guide you through an inner child exercise where we release our anger and reframe the stories in our mind). And the best (also slightly annoying) part? We can choose to feel our anger and release it, or we can choose to bottle it up and burn from the inside out. But the choice is ours to make.
