No matter where you are on your author journey, it can feel like there's always more to learn—because there is! Especially when you're new to this process. So many questions to ask and even more questions that you wouldn't even know to ask. Just getting a book out of your head and into a format that can be purchased takes a tremendous amount of effort. Let's make sure you don't just hit publish, but that you properly launch your book so it helps you achieve all of the goals you had for writing a business book in the first place. To help you figure out some of those goals and avoid some common mistakes, I've brought together an author panel. Stay tuned for a frank conversation about the highs and lows of being a business author. These authors participated in one of my Kindle Cross-Promotion campaigns, in which business authors lowered their Kindle book prices to 99 cents. I organize these twice a year around Amazon Prime Days and Black Friday. Dozens of authors working collaboratively to spread the word and boost book sales. It's been a great way to generate interest in evergreen books published many years earlier and celebrate recent publications. The best part is that our collaboration doesn't end when the campaign is over. Nearly every author opted to sign up for an author panel after the event. With me today are three authors: Carlo Mahfouz authored “Reality Check: In Pursuit of the Right Questions” to unlock the art of precision and presence in your leadership, innovation, and life. Bill Soroka is the author of six books, five of which reached #1 Best Seller in at least one category during the last Kindle Cross-Promotion Campaign, including his latest, “Your Passport to Apostilles: 116 Tips to Build a Thriving Business as an Apostille Agent.” Michelle Tillis Lederman is the author of “The Connector's Advantage: 7 Mindsets to Grow Your Influence and Impact,” a follow-up to her best-selling “The 11 Laws of Likability,” because she knows the strength of relationships leads to success. Does she deserve the second chance she's begging for? As the least successful of two sisters, you know your mother already worries chronically about you. And since your brother-in-law died by suicide last year, you're hesitant to share that you also suffer from depression — but you don't want to keep her in the dark, either. What's the right way to handle this dilemma? Described as "irreplaceable" by your employers, your workload equals or surpasses that of longer-tenured coworkers who make twice as much as you. How can you renegotiate your salary without coming off as entitled and greedy? [Thanks to The Connector’s Advantage author Michelle Tillis Lederman for her help with this one!] Your dad lives remotely with a partner who's generally abusive toward him, with health problems that make it difficult for her to be left alone for long periods of time. This means she either comes with him when he visits (complaining the whole time and making everyone miserable), or she stays home and texts or calls incessantly to berate him the whole time. How can you help him work up the nerve to end this obviously unhappy relationship? How do you get over the anger and confusion brought on by the ex who ghosted you with zero explanation after a year-long relationship — especially when his thirst-trap photos keep showing up in your dating app? Most resources seem to focus on how to separate from people with narcissistic behaviors and get them out of your life — but what are you supposed to do when you’re the loving parent of an adult narcissist and you just want them to have a normal family and a fulfilling, productive life? We'll try to find an answer to this and more here on Feedback Friday! And in case you didn't already know it, Jordan Harbinger (@JordanHarbinger) and Gabriel Mizrahi (@GabeMizrahi) banter and take your comments and questions for Feedback Friday right here every week! If you want us to answer your question, register your feedback, or tell your story on one of our upcoming weekly Feedback Friday episodes, drop us a line at friday@jordanharbinger.com. Now let's dive in! Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/769 On This Week's Feedback Friday, We Discuss: As a loving parent who really wishes the best for your children, is it possible to reconcile with a violent, gaslighting, blame-deflecting 20-year-old, narcissistic son, or is it time to just cut your losses and move on? [Thanks to clinical psychologist Dr. Ramani Durvasula for helping us field this one!] As someone with abandonment issues, PTSD, and depression, it drives you nuts that the person you're dating frequently goes for days without contacting you. Should you keep pushing for this relationship, or accept that your personalities may just not be compatible? When your father was killed in an ATV accident, the driver who picked up the vehicle offered to buy it for $800. Five months after putting down $200, he has still not paid the balance and you're wondering if you can repossess the ATV or report it as stolen. [Thanks to attorney Corbin Payne for helping us answer this one!] Jordan and Gabe compare what they've learned over this past year of answering Feedback Fridays together, and extend special thanks to Corbin Payne, Dr. Erin Margolis, Michelle Tillis Lederman, Alisa Cohn, and all the other brilliant people who have helped us out in 2022! If you do not know what it is that you are working on or what it is that you are working towards, you won't be able to reach your destination. On the other hand, having a crystal-clear vision does not have to be your 10-year plan, nor does it have to be your "big hairy audacious objective." Also, when you have a clear vision, you make it possible for someone else to have a generous attitude and make it possible for someone else to feel worthwhile. Therefore, one must possess a generous attitude and a mindset centered on giving and contributing value to become a connector.
