The Unnamed Automotive Podcast goes full EV this week, starting with Benjamin's review of the 2026 Honda Accord Hybrid. He says it's not dull, or bland, but NORMCORE, whatever that means. Well, let him explain! It seems to do everything it needs to and can maybe even out-do its crossover cousins across the Honda showroom in a few things, like, say fuel economy. It's an interesting review of a sedan when there's so few to choose from in the first place. Then Sami revisits the 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid. Following Benjamin's positive impression of the Japanese crossover, Sami took it upon himself to compare it to the 2026 Kia Sportage PHEV, to find out if the Mitsubishi is actually good, or just good in a vacuum. Lots of surprises here! Then the show ends on a kind note from a listener. Thanks for listening!
What's this? The 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Electric Vehicle has zoomed onto the Unnamed Automotive Podcast for its review? Benjamin has plenty to talk about with this seriously refreshed compact crossover. Loaded with more range, a new interior and that same controversial third row, does this one of a kind PHEV make sense for today's buyers? And what is going on at Mitsubishi these days anyways? Then Sami talks quickly about the 2026 Genesis Electrified GV70, before quickly going on a tangent about weird car features that haven't been perfected and what that means for a mature market like the automotive industry. Thanks for listening everyone!

0:02:40 Waarom gelijkspanning? 0:06:40 Vehicle to grid, vehicle to home of vehicle to load? 0:10:52 Is vehicle to load een gimmick? On paper, the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid is what people want these days. It's three-row SUV that will travel 38 miles on electric power so many owners can get by on a single tank of gas a year (seriously, I've done it). It also has a sure-footed all-wheel drive system dubbed Super All-Wheel Control with a rear-drive performance bias. And it just took home multiple trophies at the Mudfest SUV Competition. But, how does it stack up in the real world? Tom Voelk checks out a SEL Premium model with massaging seats to see how it competes with competition from Hyundai, Kia and Toyota.

What's in a plug? First up Benjamin describes his time with the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning EV, a fully electric pickup truck with a number of handy features than he had to test out. Can the Lightning power up a stranded EV? Sami begs Benjamin to tell us if the future of electric trucks bleak or promising. Then Sami talks about a pair of plug-in hybrid crossovers. The 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has been a face in this segment for a long long long time, and has been renewed with Nissan bones. The 2023 Kia Sportage PHEV is a bit less familiar, but has a few interesting changes compared to the similar Hyundai Tucson PHEV. Weight, seating, and other charging gimmicks help differentiate these two, but Sami comes down with an interesting verdict when it comes to summing these rides up. The 2023 Lincoln Corsair PHEV is a full-featured 5-passenger luxury crossover filled with high-tech features like Lincoln BlueCruise 1.2 and other niceties. As we found in our 800-mile trek in the heavily revised vehicle, it is an impressive traveling companion for cross-country cruising. The luxury car business has evolved into the luxury crossover business. Lincoln isn't alone in switching to follow the desires of luxury customers, and it continues to seek ways to differentiate its SUVs from those of other prestige brands. For the 2023 Corsair, its smallest crossover, Lincoln has emphasizes leading-edge tech. Lincoln BlueCruise 1.2 is a hands-off self-driving system that functions on hundreds of thousands of miles of highways in the United States. And its engineers and product planners have enhanced the infotainment system, the interior, and the exterior while adding new advanced driver assistance systems. Lincoln equips the Corsair Grand Touring with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine running the Atkinson cycle, an electronic continuously variable transmission, a rear-axle electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery pack. When fully charged, the battery provides 28 miles of all-electric range. In this episode, we'll tell you how the Corsair fared during our extended drive. Also in the road test segment this week, co-host Chris Teague puts the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV through its paces. We'll discuss how it compares to the Lincoln Corsair, another plug-in hybrid vehicle. The top news story this week revolves around new proposed government regulations. The Environmental Protection Agency has proposed sweeping emissions cuts for new cars and trucks through 2032. The regulations could radically change what vehicles you can buy and what you'll pay for them. We'll have all the troubling details for you coming up. On the autonomous vehicles front, one of the top companies pursuing self-driving technology had to shut down several of its test vehicles recently, and we'll tell you why. And in a special report worth reading, Reuters has reported that Tesla employees not only viewed videos captured in customers' cars but also routinely shared those videos with others. We will give you details and our comments. This week's guest is Chris Sutton, vice president of automotive retail at J.D. Power. He oversees the recently released J.D. Power 2023 U.S. Customer Service Index (CSI) Study. This year's study suggests that some things you've been told about electric cars might not be true. We'll let you know what and have much more in this episode of America on the Road.
