Hello Mama! Welcome back to the Rooted Working Mom podcast. Happy New Year! Not only do I love New Year's because it is a time of new beginnings and refreshment, but my birthday is also on January 1st. We get to celebrate both the start of the new year and my birthday. I just turned 42 and I am excited about what God has in store for 2023! A heartfelt thank you to all of you who sent me birthday wishes. For many of us, January is the month when we set resolutions, intentions, and goals, or maybe even identify dreams or our bucket list for the new year. All of these are good; however, over the years what I've discovered, as a busy working mom, is that they can sometimes become overwhelming. And so what God has helped me do to simplify my intention and focus for each new year is to seek Him for my one WORD for the year. Last year my word was RECEIVE and in this episode, I share my new word with you. Tune in to learn how to discover God's WORD for YOU in 2023! Rooted in God's love. Blessings, Cynthia

This episode is published just a few days before Christmas day in the United States and I want to wish you and your family a Christmas filled with God's peace, joy, and love. Perhaps you are on winter vacation right now or maybe you are still working. If you are like me, you are tying up a few things for work, getting some last-minute gifts, mailing gifts for loved ones at the Post Office, trying to decide what to put in stockings this year, preparing for Christmas dinner (tamales and ham for the Castros), stopping for the frosting for cookies you plan on baking with the kids that you forgot to buy yesterday when you were at the grocery store, wrapping gifts, etc. All while, trying to keep your quiet time with Jesus a priority and maintain some level of good nutrition (when everywhere you turn there are yummy treats) and body movement so that you have the energy to keep up with everything! Man the holiday season can be exhausting if we allow it to be. There is a better way. Join me in part two of 5 Ways to Find P.E.A.C.E. & ENERGY This Christmas Season. Sometimes we are so invested in our children's lives that we don't make the best choices. Like, say, listen to Betsy DeVos about reopening schools normally during a pandemic or hire someone to murder another mom. Strange Country co-hosts Beth and Kelly talk about Wanda Holloway's dream deferred and desire to see her daughter be the cheerleader she never was regardless of the cost. Oh--that's right we can say irregardless now because 2020 is a never-ending hell scape. It’s our first episode of 2019, and we’re talking about the little voice in your head. The one that pipes up when you feel guilt over letting your kids eat too many cookies or sets off an alarm bell when you watch something questionable. All of us have one, but it’s not the Holy Spirit. What is it exactly? In this episode, Emily and Laura start the conversation on personal conscience. God gave each of us a conscience to help discern what’s right and wrong in the everyday “gray” areas of life. While it can be dulled by sin, God recalibrates our consciences through the study of his word and fellowship with believers, so we can do all things in faith with love.
