Kim Potter, the former Minneapolis police officer who killed Daunte Wright, was sentenced on Friday to two years in prison. That was far less than the standard manslaughter sentence of around seven years. Potter fatally shot Wright, a 20-year-old Black motorist, during a routine traffic stop last April. In today's episode, you will hear Officer Antoine Thomas share his thoughts and opinions surrounding Officer Kim Potter vs Daunte Wright case. If you are not familiar with the differences between Manslaughter and Murder you will be when you are done listening to this episode. Yes, this was a very tragic incident but this all could have been avoided on both sides. So to my fellow officers, we have a duty to slow down, assess the situations that we are dealing with at the moment. I know our situations are fluid and most encounters happen very quickly. Take an extra second to make sure that the weapon you grabbed is in fact your taser and not your firearm or vice versa. Please continue to Like, Share, and Subscribe to this podcast. As always thank you so very much!
On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, Speaker Nancy Pelosi is concealing information regarding her culpability for the security breach at the Capitol on January 6th, 2020. Our Congress trashes the Constitutional system and seeks to change the Constitution by appointing radical judges and by legislation, instead of by proposing amendments. The January 6 Committee's agenda is clear, it's to prevent Donald Trump from ever serving as President again, it has nothing to do with legislative inquiry. Then, Adam Schiff should be disbarred for his public behavior. But that's not stopping the January 6 Committee from requesting the cooperation of Sean Hannity in their partisan smear job. This is all about politics and the destruction of press freedom so they can eventually define who is a journalist and who isn't. Later, Democrats are trying to win the midterms by redistricting; adding Democrat seats in Republican states. They are also abusing the Civil Rights Division of the US Department of Justice to use litigation to achieve their goal. Afterward, Officer Kim Potter's conviction was excessive, she made a mistake and now she's been denied bail. This case is bigger than Potter's case as this aggressive prosecution of Police Officers presents a larger danger. Lastly, getting rid of the filibuster rule would nullify the need for a Senate as a whole. What is the need for two Senators from each state if debate is removed and mob rule takes over? Democrats push for a majority-rule democracy, not the republic that this country was founded as. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

www.commsolutionsmn.com- Last November, it was made pretty clear. Voters are very much against getting rid of (or defunding) the police. That doesn't stop the radical fringe from trying to move forward. Brooklyn Center is one such city. They just tried to pass a measure to give the City Manager the authority to implement a curfew at the end of the trial for Officer Kim Potter (that killed Daunte Wright last summer, when he tried overpower Officer Potter and flee the scene). Officer Potter pulled her gun (claiming that she meant to pull her taser) and shot Daunte Wright. Thank goodness the measure failed. That hasn't stopped the the city council from passing a new Citation and Release Policy. An offender that commits a gross misdemeanor (if required by law) must be arrested, but then shall be released, unless there's an ongoing threat to society. They are also proposing to cut $1.5 million from the police budget. That's not going to help curb the rising levels of crime in the city. For other gross misdemeanors, alternatives to arrest are encouraged. They are also going to hire a Public Safety Implementation Committee Manager for a pretty penny, and it's not about public safety at all! It's all about advocating and activism. It would not have been right, either, if we didn't let Andrew sound off on the new baseball strike, which leads to an all-encompassing rant about... well, just about everything. Have you checked out our Spotify playlist? At the beginning of each episode, Jason quotes some song lyrics that have to do with the subject matter of the podcast. We hate to have these talks, but these talks must be had. What is that you ask about??? Being black in America. This week the fellas discuss the being black in instances of where the outcomes were either death or unfairness. We start off by discussing The murder trial of George Floyd and why George Floyd is the one on trial and not Derek Chauvin. From there we travel 11 miles away and discuss the killing of Daunte Wright, the young black male that was shot and killed by Officer Kim Potter after she "mistakenly" pulled her service weapon instead of her taser. The former Brooklyn Center police officer who fatally shot Daunte Wright during a traffic stop in Minnesota has been arrested but was released on $100,000 bail. She is due to make her first court appearance on Thursday.Kim Potter, a 26-year veteran of the Brooklyn Center Police Department, was taken into custody about 11:30 a.m. at the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension in St. Paul, officials said on Wednesday, April 14.She was charged with second-degree manslaughter in connection with Wright's death and is being held without bail, Washington County Attorney Pete Orput announced.Wright, a 20-year-old Black man, died of a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office, which classified the manner of death as a homicide. He was shot and killed during a traffic stop just before 2 p.m. on Sunday in Brooklyn Center, after officer Potter said she mistook her taser for a gun and fired at him. He died about 10 miles from where George Floyd, another black man was killed by a Minneapolis police officer last year.Potter and Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon resigned from their positions on Tuesday in the wake of Wright's death, which occurred just 14 miles north of where George Floyd was killed last year. The day before he resigned, Gannon told reporters that the officer meant to draw a Taser but "drew their handgun instead of their Taser.Wright family attorneys Benjamin Crump, Jeff Storms, and Anthony Romanucci said in a statement that the district attorney's charging decision was only a step in the right direction."While we appreciate that the district attorney is pursuing justice for Daunte, no conviction can give the Wright family their loved one back," they said in a statement. "This was no accident. This was an intentional, deliberate, and unlawful use of force." "A 26-year veteran of the force knows the difference between a taser and a firearm. Kim Potter executed Daunte for what amounts to no more than a minor traffic infraction and a misdemeanor warrant," they said. "It's past time for meaningful change in our country." "A badge should never be a shield to accountability. Daunte Wright was brutally killed by a police officer, and justice must prevail," Derrick Johnson, NAACP President, said in a statement.

How could a veteran Minnesota police officer have mistaken her pistol for a Taser and fatally shot 20-year-old Daunte Wright? That, at least, is the local police chief's theory for what happened in the incident. The answer to that question may have as much to do with what was going on in Brooklyn Center police Officer Kim Potter's mind as with which weapon she was holding in her hand, experts told NBC News on Tuesday. The Glock pistol that Potter was wielding when she fired the fatal shot at Wright on Sunday as he allegedly attempted to flee is black metal and almost a pound heavier than the neon-colored plastic Taser she may have believed she was brandishing as she was caught on a video yelling, “Taser! Taser! Taser!” “A Glock is a very lightweight handgun,” said Sgt. Betsy Brantner Smith, spokeswoman for the National Police Association and a retired 29-year veteran of the Naperville Police Department in Illinois. “But a Taser is heavier than you think.” While the exact models Officer Kim Potter was carrying are not clear, the images show the general differences of these weapons, including the grips and the trigger safety that is only on a pistol. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thes3podcast/message
A white Minnesota police officer who fatally shot a Black man during a traffic stop in a Minneapolis suburb and the city's chief of police resigned Tuesday, moves that the mayor said he hoped would help heal the community and lead to reconciliation after two nights of protests and unrest. Officer Kim Potter and Police Chief Tim Gannon both resigned two days after the death of 20-year-old Daunte Wright in Brooklyn Center. Potter, a 26-year veteran, had been on administrative leave following Sunday's shooting, which happened as the Minneapolis area was already on edge over the trial of the first of four police officers in the death of George Floyd, who was killed last May. Protestors took to the streets of Brooklyn Center for the third night in a row since a police officer shot and killed Daunte Wright. According to the Brooklyn Center police chief, Officer Kim Potter accidentally grabbed her gun instead of her taser. Wright's family was joined by the family of George Floyd and other victims of police violence in downtown Minneapolis Tuesday. Floyd's nephew Brandon Williams said the officer's “so-called mistake” is “unacceptable.”“Can you blame Daunte for being terrified as a black man in the custody of police, when you just watched George Floyd murdered?” asked Williams. “At some point we need change. At some point, we need better policing. At some point we need officers to be held accountable, charged, convicted.”According to Brooklyn Center's mayor, both Officer Potter and Chief Gannon have resigned from the city's police department.Meanwhile, the state rested its case in the Derek Chauvin murder trial, allowing the defense to begin calling up its own witnesses. Use of force expert Barry Brodd testified that Chauvin's actions last May were “objectively reasonable.” “I felt that Derek Chauvin was justified, was acting with objective reasonableness, following Minneapolis Police Department policy and current standards of law enforcement in his interactions with Mr. Floyd,” said Brodd.Brodd's testimony countered those of the state's witnesses, who said that Chauvin's use of force was unnecessary and acted against the Minneapolis Police Department's policy. A white police officer who fatally shot a Black man during a traffic stop in a Minneapolis suburb resigned Tuesday, as did the city's police chief — moves that the mayor said he hoped would help heal the community and lead to reconciliation after two nights of protests and unrest. But police and protesters faced off once again after nightfall Tuesday, with hundreds of protesters gathering again at Brooklyn Center's heavily guarded police headquarters, now ringed by concrete barriers and a tall metal fence, and where police in riot gear and National Guard soldiers stood watch. “Murderapolis” was scrawled with black spray paint on a concrete barrier.“Whose street? Our street!” the crowd chanted under a light snowfall.About 90 minutes before the curfew deadline, state police announced over a loudspeaker that the gathering had been declared unlawful and ordered the crowds to disperse. That quickly set off confrontations, with protesters launching fireworks toward the station and throwing objects at police, who launched flashbangs and gas grenades, and then marched in a line to force back the crowd.“You are hereby ordered to disperse,” authorities announced, warning that anyone not leaving would be arrested. The state police said the dispersal order came before the 10 p.m. curfew because protesters were trying to take down the fencing and throwing rocks at police. The number of protesters dropped rapidly over the next hour, until only a few remained. Police also ordered all media to leave the scene. The resignations from Officer Kim Potter and Police Chief Tim Gannon came two days after the death of 20-year-old Daunte Wright in Brooklyn Center. Potter, a 26-year veteran, had been on administrative leave following Sunday's shooting, which happened as the Minneapolis area was already on edge over the trial of an officer charged in George Floyd's death.Brooklyn Center Mayor Mike Elliott said at a news conference that the city had been moving toward firing Potter when she resigned. Elliott said he hoped her resignation would “bring some calm to the community,” but that he would keep working toward “full accountability under the law.”“We have to make sure that justice is served, justice is done. Daunte Wright deserves that. His family deserves that,” Elliott said.A decision on whether prosecutors will charge Potter could come as soon as Wednesday. Meanwhile, the cities of Brooklyn Center, Minneapolis and St. Paul imposed 10 p.m. curfews.Gannon has said he believed Potter mistakenly grabbed her gun when she was going for her Taser. She can be heard on her body camera video shouting “Taser! Taser!” However, protesters and Wright's family members say there's no excuse for the shooting and it shows how the justice system is tilted against Blacks, noting Wright was stopped for an expired car registration and ended up dead.Activists who attended the mayor's news conference called for sweeping changes to the Brooklyn Center Police Department and sharply criticized the acting police chief, Tony Gruenig, for not yet having a plan.Elliott said the department has about 49 police officers, none of whom live in Brooklyn Center. He said he didn't have information on racial diversity at hand but that “we have very few people of color in our department.”The modest suburb just north of Minneapolis has seen its demographics shift dramatically in recent years. In 2000, more than 70% of the city was white. Today, a majority of residents are Black, Asian or Hispanic. After stopping Wright for the expired license plates, police tried to arrest him on an outstanding warrant. The warrant was for his failure to appear in court on charges that he fled from officers and possessed a gun without a permit during an encounter with Minneapolis police in June.Body camera footage released Monday shows Wright struggling with police when Potter shouts, “I'll Tase you! I'll Tase you! Taser! Taser! Taser!” She draws her weapon after the man breaks free fr...

Another officer involved killing in Minnesota, Brooklyn Center; the officer involved has apparently been on the force for 26 years but she can't, for some reason, tell the difference between a gun and a taser. She also can't tell her left from her right let her police chief tell it!
