In this episode of By Any Means Necessary, hosts Sean Blackmon and Jacquie Luqman discuss the weaponization of psychology to demonize John Brown and slaves who attemtpted to escape bondage, how that weaponization continues to uphold white supremacy today with practices like race norming, how this fits into current fights against white supremacy and the need to extend solidarity to all who fight back against the racist, patriarchal, imperialist, and capitalist system, and how no salvation will be found in this system andits politicians. In the second segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Libre X Sankara, poet, cultural worker, educator and organizer with the Troika Kollective to discuss ongoing demonstrations among public sector workers in Puerto Rico and how the colonial debt imposed on Puerto Rico by the US contributes to the economic crisis faced by the island, Puerto Rico Governor Pedro Pierluisi's belittling comments on striking teachers and public sector workers and the challenges faced by those workers, how the current political structure of Puerto RIco ultimately serves the colonial relationship with the US, and the connections between other anti-imperialist struggles all over the world and the struggle against colonialism in Puerto Rico.In the third segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Nate Wallace, co-host of Red Spin Sports to discuss the sudden rightward turn of sports commentator Michelle Tafoya on critical race theory and the teaching of historical racism, the media's double standard and scandalization of Kamila Valieva and her failed drug test as other Olympic athletes also fail tests, how the scandalization of Valieva connects to recent historical and current demonization of Russia as the US and NATO continue to threaten war with Russia over Ukraine, and the continued fallout over the trade between the Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers.Later in the show, Sean and Jacquie are joined by James Early, Former Director of Cultural Heritage Policy at the Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage at the Smithsonian Institution and board member of the Institute for Policy Studies to discuss the light sentence given to Kim Potter for killing Daunte Wright and the continued need for organizing against racist police terror, how Black faces in high places are not enough to meet the needs of working class Black people and stop racist police terror, how socialist revolutions in Cuba and Venezuela have dealt with the question of race and why it is important to deal with questions of race when organizing in the United States, and the need for global solidarity of working and poor in the face of imperialist warmongering.

www.commsolutionsmn.com- Last November, it was made pretty clear. Voters are very much against getting rid of (or defunding) the police. That doesn't stop the radical fringe from trying to move forward. Brooklyn Center is one such city. They just tried to pass a measure to give the City Manager the authority to implement a curfew at the end of the trial for Officer Kim Potter (that killed Daunte Wright last summer, when he tried overpower Officer Potter and flee the scene). Officer Potter pulled her gun (claiming that she meant to pull her taser) and shot Daunte Wright. Thank goodness the measure failed. That hasn't stopped the the city council from passing a new Citation and Release Policy. An offender that commits a gross misdemeanor (if required by law) must be arrested, but then shall be released, unless there's an ongoing threat to society. They are also proposing to cut $1.5 million from the police budget. That's not going to help curb the rising levels of crime in the city. For other gross misdemeanors, alternatives to arrest are encouraged. They are also going to hire a Public Safety Implementation Committee Manager for a pretty penny, and it's not about public safety at all! It's all about advocating and activism. It would not have been right, either, if we didn't let Andrew sound off on the new baseball strike, which leads to an all-encompassing rant about... well, just about everything. Have you checked out our Spotify playlist? At the beginning of each episode, Jason quotes some song lyrics that have to do with the subject matter of the podcast. Andrew never knows what they are, but now he can… and so can you! THE EAGLE: A Times Union Podcast

This episode contains explicit language and descriptions of events that may be upsetting to listeners. Please listen with care. It began with a clash in Albany's South End between civil rights protesters and police that resulted in damage to a police station, the use of pepper spray and injury to a protester. At midweek, the conviction of ex-Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin brought cautious optimism to activists around the region.  And by week's end, tensions once again flared between law enforcement and protesters as police forced them out of a six-day encampment in the street. It was a roller coaster of a week, and on this episode of the Eagle, we’re going to take you through what happened.

Mónica Cruz, producer, host and labor beat reporter for BreakThrough News, and Chris Smalls, organizer and former-Amazon warehouse worker, tell us about the unionization vote that took place at the Amazon warehouse in Bessemer, Alabama last week, where workers voted to not join the union, what the results can tell us about the workers movement in the country, the dirty tricks used by Amazon in this fight, how this is but one battle in a long fight for workers rights what the future holds for other unionization fights in different parts of the country.Ted Rall, award winning political cartoonist, columnist, and co-author of “The Stringer,” joins us to talk about the withdrawal of U.S. troops, whether it will be a full or partial withdrawal, how the narrative over the invasion of Afghanistan reinforces the flawed justification for military intervention, and how these interventions could promote the creation of extremist groups. We also talk about the suspicious killing of an anti-fascist activist in Washington state, and Ted’s upcoming book, “The Stringer.” In our Miss the Press segment, hosts Michelle Witte and Bob Schlehuber talk to us about the Biden administration’s broken promises and apparent incompetence on refugee admissions, and how long they will be able to blame the Trump administration for the crisis. We also talk about proposed police reform legislation, and George W. Bush’s new book and his ongoing path to rehabilitation.

The former police chief has said Potter intended to use her Taser on Wright but fired her handgun instead. However, protesters and Wright’s family members say the shooting shows how the justice system is tilted against Blacks. Online records showed Potter posted $100,000 bond Wednesday evening and was released from jail. Several hundred demonstrators gathered by nightfall outside the Brooklyn Center police headquarters for a fourth night.

In the episode, "Teenagers Are Killing Their Parents and NOONE is Talking About It" I said 2021 just started and so did the BS. Right after that, Cicely Tyson died. Now listen to me explain to you why the unnecessary deaths of innocent Black people is the only thing that will ultimately save this nation.    Scriptural references for this episode: 2 Chronicles 7:14 For further reference about Waking Up. Gerald Horne, Professor of History at the University of Houston, author, historian, and researcher, joins us to discuss the latest Minneapolis police shooting. The issue of racism in America is exacerbated by the refusal of the nation to recognize and confront its history of colonialism and the related racist practices necessary to carry out colonialists' oppression. Also, the officer who shot Daunte Wright is claiming that she mistook her gun for a taser. Is this a plausible excuse?KJ Noh, peace activist, writer and teacher, joins us to discuss US foreign policy. Bombastic Secretary of State Antony Blinken is pushing the limits of international diplomacy as he proposes US domination over both Taiwan and Crimea. Patrick Buchanan writes that his actions are irresponsible because he refuses to recognize the strategic interests of the world's other great powers.Scott Ritter, former UN weapons inspector in Iraq, joins us to discuss Iran. Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov has slammed the latest Iran sanctions by the EU. The sanctions were levied at the most inopportune and inappropriate time, as the EU facilitates discussion over the nuclear deal claiming to be an unbiased actor. Also, Scott Ritter's latest article posits that Israel's attacks on Iran's nuclear program are sabotaging world peace.Laith Marouf, broadcaster and journalist based in Beirut, Lebanon, joins us to discuss US sanctions on Syria. Patrick Lawrence argues that all questions about Joe Biden's Syria policies have been answered. He goes on to say that Biden's policies are unconscionable, and could prove far worse than anything the Trump administration came up with. He also discusses Biden's support for savage jihadis in his bloodthirsty quest for regime change.Ted Rall, political cartoonist and syndicated columnist, joins us to discuss the economy. The issue of evictions has been postponed repeatedly, as eviction moratoriums are a substitute for addressing the problem. Meanwhile, many families are getting evicted as they slip through the cracks of eviction moratorium legislation. Also, we discuss the absurdity of increasing the defense budget during a pandemic-induced economic depression. Professor Danny Shaw, author, activist and professor of Latin American studies, joins us to discuss the ongoing war on poor and indigenous people in the Global South. The Biden administration continues to support the illegitimate dictator Jovenel Moise in Haiti, and continues the centuries-long policy of oppressing and dominating the people of the island nation. Also, the Biden administration seems to be behind the ongoing firefights along the Venezuelan border, as the US President seems poised to push harder for regime change in the oil-rich nation.Miko Peled, author and activist, joins us to discuss Israel. The Biden administration has announced that they are only going to restore less than half of the funds for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency's (UNRWA) support of the Palestinians. The fund decrease means that fewer people will qualify for food and other aid, increasing hunger and suffering amongst the occupied peoples of Palestine. Nick Davies, peace activist and author of "Blood on Our Hands: The American Invasion of Iraq," joins us to discuss the Fukushima nuclear disaster. China and several other Asian nations are protesting Japan's design to dump millions of gallons of radioactive water into the oceans. Those protesting argue that the move will cause centuries of damage to the ocean and the lives of humans living off its bounty.

Scott Ritter, the former UN weapon inspector in Iraq, joins us to discuss Iran. Tehran and Washington remain in a standoff as the Biden administration maintains Trump policies on the JCPOA. Also, Israeli defense minister Benny Gantz has stated that the US will be working very closely in coordination with Israel regarding the policies and terms for reentry into the nuclear agreement. It is widely known that Israel rejects the basic concepts of the agreement, and regards a military engagement as a more welcome outcome. Gerald Horne, professor of history at the University of Houston, author, historian, and researcher, joins us to discuss the latest police shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A Black man was shot by police after being stopped for dangling air fresheners in his vehicle. Police report that the victim had an outstanding warrant, but they have released no information on the nature of the warrant or exactly why the officer used deadly force.Alexander Mercouris, host of "The Alexander Mercouris Channel" on Youtube, joins us to discuss the latest news on Ukraine and the Nordstream 2 pipeline project. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan met with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky regarding the tense situation on the Russian border. Erdogan backed the NATO position, and called for the return of Crimea to the Eastern European US vassal state of Ukraine. Neil Clark, journalist and broadcaster, joins us to discuss Julian Assange. Advocates for press freedom marked the two year anniversary of Julian Assange's arrest on Sunday with demands that the Biden administration drop all charges against the imprisoned publisher. They condemned Assange's arrest and threats against the beleaguered publisher of up to 175 years in prison as a threat to freedom of the press worldwide.Dan Lazare, investigative journalist, author of "America's Undeclared War," joins us to discuss the Biden administration's increased threats towards Russia and China. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was interviewed by NBC's Chuck Todd, in what turned out to be an orgy of animus towards the two nuclear superpowers. Todd repeatedly challenged Blinken to be more hawkish and at times seemed to imply that military action is in order.Ted Rall, political cartoonist and syndicated columnist, joins us to discuss President Biden's military budget request. Activists and some members of Congress are furious over the proposed military budget increase by the Biden administration. They are arguing that the administration's priorities are mixed up, as the pandemic has crushed the nation's economy and the latest round of covid relief provided a meager one time payment to some struggling Americans.Marvin Weinbaum, director for the Middle East Institute's Center for Pakistan and Afghanistan Studies, joins us to discuss Afghanistan. There are reports that Turkey is working with the US to prolong the US occupation of Afghanistan. Also, peace prospects are stalling, as the Taliban feels that they have the upper hand militarily and the current Afghan ruling elite work to maintain power when, and if, the US abandons it's occupation.Ajamu Baraka, former VP candidate for the Green Party, joins us to discuss the Global South. Peru and Ecuador held elections and the results showed promise for a growing anti-imperialist movement in South America. Also, the Biden administration is following in the footsteps of the Trump team by supporting the brutal dictatorial regime of Jovenel Moise in Haiti.
