Merry Chrysler! We here at Axe of the Blood God prepared this very special episode that takes both a deeply critical and celebratory look at the nutty year that just passed us by. We had RPGs galore! Have we ever seen such bounty? New Zelda! New Baldur's Gate! New Cyberpunk...sort of! But we had troubles galore, too. Layoffs and downsizing left and right. The end of vintage game media websites and game studios. What awaits us in 2024? We dunno! But we can guarantee the Blood God will always be with you. That's what Christmas is all about. In this episode: Our Game of the Year! Zelda, Zelda, Baldur's Gate, Zelda! The Super Mario RPG remake is great! Starfield discourse that's as long and girthy as Luigi's schlong And lots more! Music used in this episode: Tantal [Xenoblade Chronicles 2] Narshe March [Final Fantasy VI] Secret of Mana Santa art source Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We're here to keep you regular. With your daily dose of secondhand cringe! The (unofficial) Game Awards happened! And there wasn't much fanfare, because it's now become a giant advert. However, we were still treated some juicy announcements, along with those pesky games that win some awards. So, what better way to celebrate than to go over every announcement, in detail, almost as it happened! If you feel yourself age during this episode, you're not alone. Lee went on some dates! In a game. And made us all suffer from some serious secondhand cringe as he makes almost all the wrong choices in Motesolo: No Girlfriend Since Birth. Are you ready to get embarrassed on his behalf? Because Kyle was ready to hide under the podcasting desk while Lee described his very awkward encounters... Starfield is getting an update, Activision Blizzard games are coming to the cloud and Skull & Bones might even be a real game! All this and more in this week's episode of The Regular Show! Our game award voting is now live, and you get to have your say! Because we're the only awards show you should be listening to. So, hop on over to our fantastic voting form and nominate your Games of 2023. Our Game of the Year show will be live streamed on Wednesday, and we even have a very special guest! Get voting to have your say and join us live as we celebrate the only games that matter - the ones we played! To all our dedicated fans - thank you for helping The XboxCast grow. BOO! Ha! GOT YA! Sorry, we didn't mean to frighten you here at The Finger Guns Podcast but it's our Halloween episode so here comes the frights! Kind of. Not really. This week on The Finger Guns Podcast Rossko, Kat, Miles, Josh and the returning Tom Woods talk everything about the weeks big reveals from the Silent Hill and Resident Evil Showcases, with five new Silent Hill projects to chew on and some scarily good looking trailers for Resident Evil 4 and the Winters Expansion for Resident Evil Village. Is the fear still alive for both these franchises? It certainly would appear so. Elsewhere we jump back into our scariest moments in video games, as is tradition. We unlock the horrors from video games past as we share with the group exactly which moments in video games have made us jump out of our seats. This years includes the likes of Dying Light, P.T., Alien Isolation and more. It's a veritable feast of fascination fearsome Finger Gunning..or something. Our Game of the Week of course returns with chats all about I See Red, Aquarist, the cracking Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed and Rossko talks through his time with the Call of Duty Modern Warfare II campaign ahead of its release on Friday. Also, in what I know you've all been waiting for, Kat shares her review of Taylor Swift's brand new album Midnights. This week on The Finger Guns Podcast it's our 175th episode! To celebrate this major milestone we, er, well there's only three of us but what a trio! Rossko, Kat and Miles get together to talk the weeks news and where better place to start than with the clues pointing to a brand new Crash Bandicoot game being revealed at The Game Awards this year? Rumours are rife with speculation that we may see Crash's long awaited game Wumpa League at Geoff Keighley's annual game trailer expose, so be on the look out for that. Is Kat hyped? Well, you're gonna have to listen to find out..Elsewhere the biggest news of the week without a doubt was the reveal of the first footage from The Super Mario Bros. Movie from Nintendo and Minion's creators Illumination. The discord around this game has been rather insane so we try to collate it all and share our own opinions on what the trailer showcases and if we're excited to see the rest of the film. Oh, and if Chris Pratt is the right voice for Mario. Will this continue long into the wee hours? You better believe it, Rossko might bitch about this until the sun scorches the entire planet so buckle up. Ahead of a possible full podcast on the subject we also get into the affects of gaming on our mental health, as each member of the team share their experiences with games and how they've helped them get through some hard times and some of the stigma that still surrounds gaming as a whole. 'Never feel stupid for finding comfort in a video game'. Our Game of the Week segment returns with Miles talking Undetected, Kat shares her slice of Lemon Cake and Rossko goes all basic bitch and talks his time with FIFA 23.Enjoy the ep!If you're looking for someone to talk to please call the following numbers (UK);The Samaritans: 116 123Mind: 0300 123 3393 or http://www.mind.org.ukALL THE PLACES WE ARE: https://linktr.ee/fingergunsDonate to Sunflower of Peace to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine: http://www.sunflowerofpeace.comTheme Music – De Jongens Met de Zwarte Schoenen by RoccoW & xyce. | Edited and produced by Ross Keniston | Published by Acast.Team: @FNGRGNS / Rossko – @RosskoKeniston / Paul – @ThePaulCollett / Greg – @GregatonBomb / Josh - @jshuathompson / Sean – @Omac_Brother / Toby – @toby_andersen / Kat – @RainbowDropx / Tom - @T_Woods93 | Facebook: FingerGunsUK / Twitch: twitch.tv/fingergunsdotnet / The Official Finger Guns Discord Discord: Join here! The volume of our Podcasts has decreased to one per week at present but we have another jam-packed show here. It is a huge week of county action with senior hurlers, U-20 hurlers, U-20 footballers, minor hurlers and Laois ladies all in action. The Leinster hurling championship begins this weekend with Laois away to Dublin. Shane Stapleton from Our Game joins Steven to give the view from the capital ahead of the game. Alan and Steven then look ahead to all of the other county games that are taking place this week. They also discuss the club leagues which are now well in full swing.
Our Game of the Year 2021 was a surprise for some of you, I'm sure. It was - and is - a game that found a powerful new way to tell a story. A game that invited our lives and experiences by hiding the subject of its story. It's a simple game, a game about unpacking boxes, and it was inspired when co-creators Wren Brier and Tim Dawson did exactly that: moved together. It was an idea that struck Brier almost immediately but she struggled mustering the confidence to build it out. With Dawson's encouragement and help, though, she managed it, and years later, here we are. Unpacking is a rare game that resonates quickly and deeply with nearly everyone. Today's special guest on The Eurogamer Podcast, then, is Wren Brier, and this is the story of how Unpacking was made (on Windows 7 would you believe?!) and more.
First party rumors are growing. With a Twisted Metal revival unannounced (but very much in-development) comes word that it's now an internal project under the control of Firesprite. Meanwhile, the candor ex-Bend Studio leads displayed in a conversation with David Jaffe continue to reverberate, bringing to light the possibility of a Resistance revival, or something new in the world of Syphon Filter. Meanwhile, word out of the UK is that PlayStation Now cards will stop being sold in physical stores, a near-certain sign that Sony's GamePass competitor is nearing. There's more news to discuss, too, including Dying Light 2's hour-count misstep, the continuing manufacture of PlayStation 4, tantalizing details surrounding a possible Armored Core revival, and indications that a second Quantic Dream game may be in development. We then interrupt tradition by forgoing our mailbag-centric ending for something grander: Our Game of the Year awards. We each pick our top three games of 2021, and give away five random awards, as well. So hit play! There's much to discuss. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

We conclude Our Game by taking a look at baseball in the early 21st century. How are Latinos navigating unwritten rules and writing the new ones before our very eyes? We come to a fitting end on the final episode of Our Game. Information and sound clips for this episode come from baseball-fever.com, MLB advanced Media, MLB's Hispanic Heritage Month Roundtable Discussion, and ESPN. I can't believe this is the end of our journey. I would like to thank Dr. Roberto Gonzalez Echavaria, Carol Sheldon, Marie Fidler, Julie Alexandria, Ozzie Guillen Jr, Vincent Samperio, Victor Rojas, Maria Torres and Fabian Ardaya. They are all wonderful people and their insights and knowledge of this amazing game made this show what it was. I couldn't have done any of this without them. I'd like to thank Alex Schmitten. He made our theme song and our original music. He's extremely talented and helped give Our Game the correct vibe that I wanted from the very beginning. I'd also like to thank my girlfriend Megan. She was there for me so many times to encourage me and listen to me ramble on about the AAGPBL, or cry about Roberto Clemente, or think out loud throughout all my research. I would have lost my mind without her. Thank you Megan. And of course, I'd like to thank you, the fans. This journey has been so eye opening for me. It's helped me understand the game I love a little bit more. It's helped me understand race and identity. It's helped me understand the United States and baseball in this country. I hope that you've learned something. I hope you'll take this knowledge with you. And I hope that this show has offered you a new perspective on the game you love too. Keep up with everything we're doing on Twitter and Instagram @ourgamepodcast. Those accounts will continue to stay active and of course have all the images, videos and reading materials for all eight episodes. You can follow me too @SteveGranado. So that'll do it. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. This show means everything to me, and I hope it meant something to you too. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/ourgamepodcast/support
