Charlie, Rony, and Ted are out in full force to greet the world's foremost tech consultant and professor Shelly Palmer, CEO of the Palmer Group. We hit the news quickly, Perplexity raises $500M at a $9B valuation, ChatGPT under assault, AI's coming "clean." Our wide ranging conversation with Shelley was focused on some important trends in AI and XR, and especially the long process of integrating AI into company workflow. It's going to take time and training, perhaps more than five years for that to be happy, Shelly said. Other 2024 events we looked back on: the ongoing AI revolution, the crypto run up, agentic AI, the possible TikTok ban, AI & XR, and the end of the media business as we know it. He was honored at ASCAP's 13th Annual Film and Television Awards in the category of “Most Performed Television Themes.” He holds a patent for the underlying technology for Enhanced Television that's used by programs such as ABC's Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and ESPN's Monday Night Football, which led him to pivot his career into technology. During our interview we spoke about growing up in a music store, how a used synthesizer got him into the jingle business, how one of his patents took him from music into the world of technology, why AI is a skills amplifier, and so much more. By the way, I learned a lot about AI from Shelly's free Metacademy, which is something that you should check out. He says it’s a “unique crystal ball into the future,” and allows you and your team to begin building new technological opportunities into your own business plans. Networking opportunities and big-picture dreaming will be abundant in January Virtually all aspects of modern businesses are influenced by technology. Shelly tells Drew that even giant corporations have individuals on the receiving ends of B2B sales calls, and those individuals use everyday technologies that are featured at CES. That’s why even B2B professionals have countless opportunities to add value to their companies and careers by attending the 2019 CES. Simply reading about CES after the fact won’t give you the full scope. To truly understand the importance of this event, you have to experience it for yourself. No longer just an “electronics show,” Shelly believes that the 2019 CES is truly a “business show.” Drew, Shelly, and hundreds of other industry leaders will be at 2019 CES - will you? “Resiliency” will be a new focus at the 2019 CES, and it’s an area of innovation that deserves your attention One business and marketing trend you need to be aware of is “resiliency,” explained by the Consumer Technology Association (owner and producer of the CES) as the ability to “keep the world healthy, safe, warm, powered, fed and secure, even in the face of adversity.” Innovations that will help restore power and cell service to disaster-riddles areas, for example, will be featured at this sub-conference event. “The Resilience Conference will deliver world-class conference programming, insights, and solutions,” says a recent CTA press release. In order to be informed and responsible global citizens, marketers can’t afford to miss this event. B2B and B2C marketers alike will have dozens of opportunities at the 2019 CES to expand their network, brainstorm with like-minded professionals, and plan for the future. Consumers are going to always find the most frictionless path to fulfill their desires. CWT4R  again this week will revisit a series that is geared toward the masculine identified lesbian with returning guest Kofi Adoma and the Jerry Palmer Group of Detroit. The conversation will again explore Identity and labels with a twist of social justice movement within the MIL community. The mission of the Jerry Palmer Group is to combine the talents of self-identified masculine lesbians into a cohesive effort to give validation, support and resources to MILs of all ages in the Detroit metropolitan area, as well as across the country where such support is needed. This grassroots self-reliant group specializes in educating the public about the social and cultural experiences of African American MILs and others of color because this is a population often neglected, stigmatized, and rarely highlighted in national discussions about the LGBT community. Since this is a self-help peer support organization, MILs serve as leaders in proactively managing the programs of this collective group. The JPG strives to collaborate and partner with similar groups such as Brooklyn Boihood, Brown Boi Project, Unity Fellowship Church Movement MIL Ministry, and Butch Voices to encourage participation in the intersected social justice movements where women of color are marginalized and disempowered. The show will feature three of the leadership cadre members, Elder Atiba Cohen-the elder of the group, Dr. Kofi Adoma (pronounced doe-MAH)- founding member, and Kunto Mawusi-the youngest in the group. Their aim is to share with you the purpose of the Jerry Palmer Group and how it was founded, the specific goals and target areas, who all is involved, and the importance of having a group like this exist in Detroit and elsewhere. The focus of the conversation will be on empowerment and visibility of MILs of color and ways to rally up their talents and skills to be of service to their communities, to each other, and to themselves.

While changing jobs and shifting careers is hardly unusual in today's business world Russ Palmer is somewhat unique in that he has been the leader of three very different organizations over the past several decades. He was CEO of Touche Ross (now Deloitte & Touche) for 10 years dean of Wharton for seven years and now owner chairman and CEO of The Palmer Group a corporate investment firm. Each of these positions required very different skills and the ability to adapt to a unique set of challenges -- what Palmer calls ”a context-driven approach to leadership.” In his new book Ultimate Leadership: Winning Execution Strategies for Your Situation Palmer describes how today's leaders can adapt to and succeed in any business environment.
