Nu first served on Iowa Asian Alliance (IAA) Board of Directors in 2012 and quickly transitioned to her current Executive Director role the following year.Prior to joining IAA full-time, Huynh spent over 15 years with the Principal. Havilah is an American actress based in London, England. She found performing in theatre as a place where her shyness and insecurities disappeared. Back then, she frequently played the villain or the drunk, but eventually added some leading lady roles into the mix. After doing her undergraduate training in theatre at Colorado State University, she worked off and on as an actress and drama teacher. In this episode my guest is my good friend, Jake Kim. He started his career in Sydney Australia. After graduating from culinary school at the William Blue College of Hospitality Management in 2010 he went on to work at various Michelin star restaurants such as the Sydney Opera House, Aria, and the Clock Hotel. He's now the Executive Chef Instructor at DMACC and is soon to open his own restaurant, Appa, which will feature authentic, upscale Korean restaurant. After moving to Des Moines, he worked at Firebirds Wood Fire Grill as an executive chef and achieved the company's top 3 P&L records. He moved to Wasabi sushi restaurants as a culinary director and managed 4 Wasabi locations in the Des Moines metro. As a culinary director, he built the inventory system, maintained food costs (Averaged at 21% for 10 months), and created and updated their recipe and training program. Don is an Airline Captain with 27 years and over 22,000 hours of flying time in everything from Cessnas and Pipers to high performance aerobatic aircraft to large airliners like the Boeing 747-400 and 737NG. Don has flown for Northwest Airlines, Air France, Copa in Panama and now is flying cargo to literally every country in the world except Antarctica in a Boeing 747 as a Captain for National Airlines. Dr. Shane is the owner and lead chiropractor at Thrive Family Chiropractic. He grew up in Carroll, IA graduating from Kuemper Catholic High School. If a picture is worth a thousand words then video is worth a million. Video content when done right communicates to the heart and is memorable and entertaining. But what makes a video good, especially as it pertains to advertising? This is where Jen King, the founder and creative director of Invictus Media comes in. Upon graduation from Stanford with a Masters of Science in Biomedical Informatics, Jen took a position with Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon where eventually became the Assistant Creative Director for the Advertising and Marketing department. Jen then took a position with Men's Health Fitness as the Assistant Director for Creative Services working under the Men's Health Fitness Director. She managed the digital side of the marketing business including such channels as social media, web and app development, and video production. Jen eventually landed in Des Moines where she established Invictus Media.
