A family vacation to Bali turns deadly. Sheila von Wiese-Mack is found bludgeoned to death inside a suitcase. The socialite's 25-year-old daughter Heather Mack and her 21-year-old then-boyfriend, Tommy Schaefer are charged and convicted by an Indonesian court. Police say Schaefer bludgeoned von Wiese-Mack with a bowl and then he and Mack stuffed her body into a suitcase and attempted to flee the scene. Heather Mack was pregnant at the time and gave birth to a daughter in prison. When she turned two, she was placed with a foster family in Bali. Now, Mack is back in prison this time in Illinois. Mack said she was nervous about returning to the States, and what could happen to her daughter, once she is exposed to the media attention surrounding her mother. A judge has ruled the girl will remain with the Indonesian woman who raised her in Bali. Jared Bridegan, 33, drops his twins off at the home of his ex-wife, Shanna Gardner-Fernandez. Bridegan is with his 2-year-daughter as he drives home. On their way home, Bridegan stops to remove a tire from the middle of the road. There's no room to drive around it. That's when the Microsoft executive is shot and killed by an unknown assailant. The little girl, Bexley, is reportedly in the car for several minutes as her father dies. Bridegan has been in lengthy custody and alimony disputes with his former wife and reportedly she has now hired a high-powered criminal defense attorney. Jacksonville Beach Police Department has not named Gardner-Fernandez a suspect in connection with the case and Gardner-Fernandez maintains her innocence. In fact, no one has been named a person of interest, and Bridegan's murder remains unsolved. According to Gardner-Fernandez's attorney, his services are needed “for the purpose of seeing if steps could be taken to protect her young twins from any publicity surrounding this tragic event.” Joining Nancy Grace Today: Kathleen Murphy - Family Attorney (North Carolina), NCDomesticlaw.com, Twitter: @RalDivorceLaw, Dr. Angela Arnold - Psychiatrist, Atlanta GA, AngelaArnoldMD.com, Expert in the Treatment of Pregnant/Postpartum Women, Former Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology: Emory University, Former Medical Director of The Psychiatric Ob-Gyn Clinic at Grady Memorial Hospital Joe Scott Morgan - Professor of Forensics Jacksonville State University, Author, "Blood Beneath My Feet", Featured on "The Piketon Massacre: Return to Pike County" on iHeartRadio Ray Caputo - Reporter (Orlando, FL) See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's been fifteen years since Judy Conley said good night to her son, then woke up to the news that he'd been murdered in his bed. Curtis Francis was gunned down along side his fiancé, Jennifer Burgette. No suspect has been named in the case, but there's lots of speculation in this rural Ohio community. The discovery of a well at the home where Francis was last seen, uncovered two weapons. Those weapons where lost when the fire department, working with police to recover the guns, blew out the bottom of the well. Investigative Reporter Jody Barr found a statement in another murder case, where the suspect offered information in exchange for a deal in his case. As the search for the person of interest in the death of Gabby Petito continues, new speculation surfaces about where Brian Laundrie could be. A photo taken of Brian Laundrie and Gabby Petito was posted on Petito's Instagram page in February. The pair later posted a review of the area. They described the spot as a “really nice campground, beautiful area with many hikes and easy walks, the beach, historic sites, really nice camp store and well-maintained sites.” Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman announced that he received a tip that Laundrie and his parents went camping at Fort De Soto from September 1-3, then again on September 6-8, and documents have been found supporting that claim.Joining Nancy Grace Today:Dale Carson - Criminal Defense Attorney (Jacksonville), Former FBI Agent, Former Police Officer, Author: "Arrest-Proof Yourself, DaleCarsonLaw.comCaryn Stark - NYC Psychologist, www.carynstark.com, Twitter: @carynpsych, Facebook: "Caryn Stark" Sheryl McCollum - Forensic Expert & Cold Case Investigative Research Institute Founder, ColdCaseCrimes.org, Twitter: @ColdCaseTipsJoe Scott Morgan - Professor of Forensics: Jacksonville State University, Author, "Blood Beneath My Feet", Featured on "The Piketon Massacre: Return to Pike County" on iHeartRadio Mahsa Saeidi - Investigative Reporter, WFLA-TV (Tampa), Twitter/Instagram: @MahsaWho, Facebook: "WFLAMahsa"See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Brian Laundrie has been missing since at least September 14. The person of interest in Gabby Petito's death told his parents that he intended to hike in the Carlton Reserve, but he has not returned. Three days before he left, Laundrie's girlfriend Gabby Petito was reported missing by her family. Those knowledgeable with the rough terrain point out it would be difficult to survive in that area, which is now mostly underwater, for an extended period of time. There is no potable water and little dry ground to camp. Meanwhile, Laundrie's parents were followed by federal agents to a public library, where they hung out for a period of time, before heading to a meeting with an attorney.Joining Nancy Grace Today:Wendy Patrick - California prosecutor, author “Red Flags” www.wendypatrickphd.com 'Today with Dr. Wendy' on KCBQ in San Diego, Twitter: @WendyPatrickPHDDr. Angela Arnold - Psychiatrist, Atlanta GA www.angelaarnoldmd.com, Expert in the Treatment of Pregnant/Postpartum Women, Former Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology: Emory University, Former Medical Director of The Psychiatric Ob-Gyn Clinic at Grady Memorial HospitalJoe Scott Morgan - Professor of Forensics: Jacksonville State University, Author, "Blood Beneath My Feet", Featured on "The Piketon Massacre: Return to Pike County" on iHeartRadioAngenette Levy - Emmy-nominated Reporter & Anchor, Twitter: @Angenette5See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
A warrant has been issued for Brian Laundrie, the boyfriend of deceased Gabby Petito, but in her death. A grand jury indicted Laundrie for his "use of unauthorized devices" after Petito died. Documents state that Laundrie used a debit card and PIN number for accounts that did not belong to him for charges totaling more than $1,000 between the dates of August 30 and September 1. The indictment does not identify the debit card owner. Meanwhile, the search for Laundrie continues. As the search for Brian Laundrie continues, new details show the movement of Laundrie family. Neighbors tell FOX News that they saw Laundrie, and his parents pack up an “attached camper” and leave for the weekend shortly after the boyfriend of deceased Gabby Petito, returned to Florida. Meanwhile divers and search teams continue their work in the Carlton Reserve. Laundrie's parents told police he went hiking at the 25,000-acre park with sprawling and difficult-to-navigate terrain. An autopsy being conducted today on the body believed to be Gabby Petito. This as authorities in Florida resume their search for Petito's boyfriend Brian Laundrie. Laundrie's parents said he was headed into the Carlton Nature Reserve in Sarasota County. The focus this time is on the back side of the reserve. On Sunday, investigators found human remains matching Petito's description in Bridger-Teton National Forest, weeks after Petito fell out of contact with her family during a cross-country road trip with Laundrie. Barry Morphew also had injuries on the outside of his hands, but it is unclear if investigators believe all of those injuries were recent. Information also came out that Suzanne Morphew was having an affair. Investigators found two of three books in the Morphew home that are believed to have been important to Suzanne: A Bible and Alcoholics Anonymous book. More details emerging in the case again the husband of missing mom Suzanne Morphew. Chaffee County Sheriff's Office Undersheriff Andy Rohrich testified that photos taken of Barry Morphew shortly after Suzanne's disappearance showed numerous superficial injuries, including cuts and scrapes on his upper arms that may be fingernail scratches. Barry Morphew also had injuries on the outside of his hands, but it is unclear if investigators believe all of those injuries were recent. Rohrich also presented findings in court that suggested Suzanne Morphew did not flee her Maysville, Colorado, home. Her wallet–reportedly full of cash–was found in her 2015 Range Rover. Also in the wallet or the car were Suzanne's credit cards, driver's license, and a medical card showing she had a cancer treatment scheduled for the Monday after she was reported missing, the Daily Mail reports.Investigators found two of three books in the Morphew home that are believed to have been important to Suzanne: A Bible and Alcoholics Anonymous book. Detectives were also advised to look for a journal. While they didn't find an intact journal, investigators reportedly found possible evidence of a journal burned in the fireplace.Read the full story on CrimeOnlineJoining Nancy Grace today:Wendy Patrick - California prosecutor, author “Red Flags” www.wendypatrickphd.com 'Today with Dr. Wendy' on KCBQ in San Diego.Dr. Jorey Krawczyn - Police Psychologist, Adjunct Faculty with Saint Leo University; Research Consultant with Blue Wall Institute, Author: Operation S.O.S. - Practical Recommendations to Help “Stop Officer Suicide” (October 2021) bw-institute.com.Sheryl McCollum - Forensic Expert & Cold Case Investigative Research Institute Founder, ColdCaseCrimes.org.Joe Scott Morgan - Professor of Forensics, Jacksonville State University, Author, "Blood Beneath My Feet", Featured on "The Piketon Massacre: Return to Pike County" on iHeartRadio.Mike King - Host: "ProfilingEvil" on YouTube, Former Police Officer (Ogden, Utah), Former Chief Investigator: Weber County Attorney's Office, Former Chief of Staff: Utah Attorney General's Office, Author: "Deceived, An Investigative Memoir of the Zion Society Cult", www.ProfilingEvil.com, Instagram/Twitter: @Profiling Evil.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

A federal appeals court has ordered former zoo owner and “Netflix” star Joe Exotic to be re-sentenced for his conviction in a murder-for-hire plot. The “Tiger King” star — real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage — was sentenced in January 2020 to 22 years in a federal lockup for trying to hire two men to kill his nemesis, Big Cat Rescue owner Carole Baskin. A three-judge panel in Denver's Court of Appeals ruled that the original sentence was issued using the wrong sentencing guidelines. The judges found the trial court should have treated the murder-for-hire convictions as one since they both involved the goal of having Baskin killed. The proper sentencing range should have been between 17 ½ to just under 22 years, the panel wrote, not just under 22 years to 27 years in prison.Joining Nancy Grace Today:Darryl Cohen - Former Assistant District Attorney, Fulton County, Georgia, Defense Attorney, Cohen, Cooper, Estep, & Allen, LLC, www.ccealaw.comDr. Angela Arnold - Psychiatrist, Atlanta GA www.angelaarnoldmd.com, Expert in the Treatment of Pregnant/Postpartum Women Joe Scott Morgan - Professor of Forensics Jacksonville State University, Author, "Blood Beneath My Feet", Featured on "The Piketon Massacre: Return to Pike County" on iHeartRadio Levi Page - Crime Online Investigative Reporter, Host, "Crime and Scandal" True Crime Podcast, YouTube.com/LeviPageTVSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
The Chandler, Arizona, Police Department has released some 2,500 documents from their investigation into “cult mom” Lori Vallow after the disappearance of two of her children, 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 16-year-old Tylee Ryan. Among the documents is a photo of young JJ, dated September 22, 2019. It's unknown if it's the last photo taken of the boy, but it was taken on the last day he was seen before investigators found his body and that of his sister buried in Chad Daybell's backyard on June 9, 2020. Lori Vallow and Daybell have been charged with two counts of murder and three counts of conspiracy to commit murder in the deaths of the children and Daybell's then-wife, Tammy Daybell, who died suddenly in October 2019. Sentencing for the man convicted of killing University of Iowa student, Mollie Tibbetts, has been delayed amid new information. Judge Joel Yates ordered Cristhian Rivera's sentencing be delayed after two witnesses told investigators that a different man confessed to the crime. The delay came about after the defense filed a motion, blaming the prosecution for withholding evidence. According to Bahena Rivera's attorneys, an inmate at the county jail said in May that he heard someone identified as “inmate 2” admit that Tibbetts was “bound and gagged in a trap house but that he was directed to kill Tibbetts once the search for her got too close,” CBS 8 reports. Inmate 2 allegedly said he was ordered to stab Tibbetts, who was initially kidnapped for sex trafficking, but killed after the case became too high-profile. Inmate 2 allegedly said he was ordered to hide the body near a Hispanic male in Tibbetts' area, to pin the blame on someone else. The witness said he came forward after he heard Rivera testify during the trial that two other men killed Tibbetts and put the blame on him. State prosecutors said the inmate is not credible and evidence presented at trial proved that the real killer is Rivera. Still, the defense requested that the inmate be given the opportunity to testify, although the defense had already rested its case.Joining Nancy Grace Today:Jason Oshins - New York Defense AttorneyDr. Angela Arnold - Psychiatrist, Atlanta GA www.angelaarnoldmd.com, Expert in the Treatment of Pregnant/Postpartum WomenJoe Scott Morgan - Professor of Forensics Jacksonville State University, Author, "Blood Beneath My Feet" Featured on "The Piketon Massacre: Return to Pike County" on iHeartRadioMatt Finn - FOX News National CorrespondentSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

A Wisconsin woman charged with fatally poisoning a disabled friend after stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the victim. Jessy Kurczewski, 37, had reportedly called police to the victim's Pewaukee home, claiming the woman was not breathing. A Waukesha County deputy who responded to the home found the deceased woman lying in a recliner with a large quantity of crushed-up medication on her chest and on a plate located next to her, according to KSAZ. An autopsy report revealed that the woman had a fatal concentration of tetrahydrozoline in her system when she died. The medical examiner also determined that the amount of tetrahydrozoline in her blood could not have come from using it in the eyes. Indiana police say they believe a 14-year-old girl who vanished a month ago is in danger and is likely no longer in the area. Aaliyah Ramirez, a dance student in Syracuse, was last seen leaving her home just after 8 a.m. on April 27, on her way to school. She never made it to the bus stop. A neighbor's doorbell camera captured the last known images of the teenager. Police have mentioned three areas where they believe Aaliyah could be — Marion, Indiana, about 70 miles south of Syracuse; Georgia; and Palm Beach County, Florida — but they've released very little other information. About a week after her disappearance, Palm Beach County deputies visited a relative's home there they did not find the teen.
