Heath Pinell and Taylor Knowles from LSU won the first Association of Collegiate Anglers event, the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open, last weekend.  The duo weighed in a two-day total of 24.89 pounds to best the elite field of 216 boats.  First place at the AFTCO Open paid out thousands of dollars in prizes, as well as 1,250 points towards the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.Pinell and Knowles join host Kyle Curry on this week's episode of the Rapala #WeAreCollegiateBass Podcast to talk about their recent victory.  Tune in to hear them break down the baits and locations where they caught their fish, and we will also talk about the importance of this victory towards LSU's push to win the School of the Year race.

El Consell Comarcal de la Terra Alta ha aprovat en sessió plenària extraordinàa una moció de rebuig a la planificació de noves centrals eòliques a la comarca. Cal recordar que en les darreres setmanes s'han presentat, en ple estat d'alarma, 5 nous projectes de centrals eòliques que afecten els municipis de Batea, Gandesa, Cobera d'Ebre, Vilalba dels Arcs i La Fatarella, que se sumen a les dos centrals presentades a principis del mes de març al terme de Pinell de Brai. En la moció aprovada d'avui, fins i tot s'ha plantejat la sortida de la comarca del programa "País viu, país d'oportunitats" fins que no es revertisca la situació. Per parlar de tot plegat, Leonor Bertomeu ha entrevistat avui a la presidenta del Consell Comarcal de la Terra Alta, Neus Sanromà.

L'empresa Eléctrica del Ebro ha iniciat esta setmana les obres de soterrament de la línia elèctrica de mitja tensió del carrer Sant Jaume, concretament en el tram comprès entre els carrers Sant Pau i Sant Lluís. L'actuació permetrà millorar la qualitat del subministrament elèctric, ja que la xarxa actual funciona a 6KV i amb les obres s'augmentarà fins al 25KV. A més, la nova línia serà soterrada. Els presidents dels quatre Consells Comarcals de les Terres de l'Ebre han presentat des de l'estació de l'Aldea una moció, consensuada als quatre consells d'alcaldes, i que duran a votació a tots els municipis del territori per denunciar el greuge territorial que ha suposat la nova planificació amb la posada en marxa de la variant ferroviària de Vandellòs. Els alcaldes i els consell comarcals donaran suport diumenge a la concentració convocada per Trens Dignes a l'Estació de l'Aldea en rebuig als nous horaris i per exigir millor servei ferroviari. Enlairem Deltebre ha anunciat també que assistirà a la protesta de diumenge. FUTBOL Arriba la jornada 17 al Grup 1 de la Tercera Catalana. La Cava- Roquetenc es disputarà diumenge a les 16.00 al municipal del Camp Nou. El partit Jesús i Maria - Corbera serà diumenge a les 16.00 al camp municipal de l'Aube. A la quarta catalana, el filial de la Cava rebrà al Pinell, quart classificat. El partit serà demà dissabte a les 16 hores. A partir del febrer, les quatre oficines joves de les Terres de l'Ebre (Baix Ebre, Montsià, Ribera d'Ebre i Terra Alta), en col•laboració amb l'entitat Obre't Ebre, oferiran un servei de mobilitat internacional per tal d'acompanyar, assessorar i informar el jóvens, els professionals i les entitats del territori sobre pràctiques a l'estranger (tant remunerades com no remunerades), estades solidàries i de voluntariat fora del país, intercanvis internacionals.

La iniciativa, impulsada des del Club Nàutic Riumar, amb el suport dels ajuntaments de Deltebre i Tortosa, vol promoure la navegació fluvial. La sortida preveu navegar per l'Ebre fins a Tortosa on es farà una aturada cultural per visitar la Festa del Renaixement. Des d'allí els participants es desplaçaran en autobús fins al Pinell de Brai, on visitaran la catedral del vi i faran un tast de vins de la DO Terra Alta. Finalment es farà un dinar al restaurant Villa Retiro, de Xerta. Els interessats en participar poden posar-se en contacte amb el Club Nàutic Riumar. L'Hospital Verge de la Cinta ha incorporat un nou mamògraf d'última generació que permet detectar lesions molts menudes d'entre un i dos mil•límetres. Avui arriba al Festival Deltebre Dansa una de les nits més esperades i amb més resposta per part del Públic, La Nit Solidària i del Circ on el circ contemporani i la solidaritat es donen la mà. La mestra de cerimònies de la vetllada serà enguany la pallassa catalana Alba Sarraute, qui donarà pas a diverses propostes on el circ contemporani serà el principal protagonista. Enguany cal destacar la participació de Barcode Circus Company, finalista de Got Talent França 2016. En el marc de la Nit Solidària es fa també una recollida solidària d'aliments que el festival donarà a entitats locals per ajudar a les famílies del municipi amb més necessitats. La Junta Electoral de Tarragona ha proclamat els 25 membres que integraran la Corporació del Consell Comarcal del Baix Ebre del mandat 2019-2023 i que es constituirà el pròxim dilluns 15 de juliol.

Country music singer Jeremy Pinnell traveled hundreds of miles before returning home to perform at the Octave in Covington. The Northern Kentucky native spent the last four weeks driving out west and then back again for the western leg of his 2018 summer tour. The tour promoted Pinnell's second full-length studio album "Ties of Blood and Affection," which the singer released on SofaBurn Records last August. Saturday's show is the first time that Pinnell will perform a local set with his full band, the 55s in more than a year. Rolling Stone Magazine described Pinell's sound as, "no frills honky-rock with plenty of pedal steel, Western swing and vocals as smooth as the highest dollar whiskey" in an October review of his latest album.  The article also noted that the tracks on "Ties of Blood and Affection" were "a stellar collection that could earn Pinnell comparisons to Sturgill Simpson." That praise builds upon the national recognition the Elsmere, Kentucky native received in 2014 after the release of his first solo studio album "OH/KY."  “I definitely felt more freedom in making this album," Pinnell told Rolling Stone when discussing "Ties of Blood and Affection." Download PodcastTune in for an hour of information and news on political prisoners held by the US government.  Unfortunately we will be focusing on the recent assassination of political prisoner Hugo Pinell who was murdered after finally getting out of solitary confinement where he spent 46 years. San Francisco Bayview writes, Hugo Pinell, affectionately known as Yogi Bear, was assassinated Aug. 12. The news sparked a victory celebration by prison guards on social media: “May he rot in hell” and “Good riddens” (sic), they typed. Yogi was the only member of the San Quentin 6 still in prison, and his role in the events of Aug. 21, 1971, the day George Jackson was assassinated, has earned the guards' incessant enmity ever since. There appears that prison gangs played a role in Mr. Pinell's murder. We will be joined by Robert Weide who is an assistant professor of Sociology at Cal State Los Angeles with subfield specializations in criminology, urban studies and racial and ethnic relations. He is currently working on two books based on his dissertation research while a student at NYU. Robert's first book will be about inter-racial gang conflict between Black and Latino street gangs in Los Angeles County. His second book will be about historical and contemporary conflict between racialized inmate factions in carceral settings in California. We will also be joined by Ernest Sheperd (Big Ern) who is a life time supporter of Yogi Pinell. They shared memories in prison together, struggled together and fought oppression together. Big Ern got out of prison but stayed in contact with Yogi and has personal letters where they discussed politics, mass incarceration and the ongoing struggle. Big Ern has a letter he recieved right before the assassination of Yogi. He has a lot to say about his fallen Comrade.
