It was a recognition of LaCava’s decency and his efforts to position himself between the poles of this all-Democratic City Council. And it was a win for Mayor Todd Gloria. Gloria told us on the podcast that he didn’t have a preference for who got the Council president role. Mayrhofer, on behalf of the California Historical Association, Native Sons of the Golden West, Native Daughters of the Golden West, and The San Diegans. The flag is composed of three vertical bars, from left to right, red, white and gold. In the center white field is the official seal of the City and beneath it the date "1542," the year explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo first entered San Diego Bay and claimed the area for Spain. The use of the three vertical bars is reminiscent of the colors of the flag of Spain, which flew over Cabrillo's ship. School District Closes PB Park Because of Dog Poop and Holes During the Thursday recording of the Voice of San Diego Podcast, San Diego City Council President Joe LaCava dropped some news: “The joint use field at Crown Point Junior Music Academy is going to be closed to the public because of the dogs and the dog owners that have beaten up the field so badly that it is now unplayable and dangerous for the students.” LaCava predicted more of San Diego Unified’s joint-use fields would close in the future. “I think the school district is finally going to say ‘Enough is enough. We cant risk the health of our students,’” LaCava said. Scott Lewis, CEO and editor in chief at Voice of San Diego.

Send us a textWhat happens when creative theme park fans decide to imagine the absolute worst possible Disney lands? We're about to find out while sipping on one of Epcot's most unusual cocktails. We kick things off by sampling the La Cava Avocado from La Hacienda de San Angel in the Mexico Pavilion – a unique $19 concoction featuring tequila, Midori, fresh avocado, lime juice, and agave. With its smoothie-like consistency and surprising flavor profile, this drink proves to be unexpectedly enjoyable and potentially a sleeper hit for our year-end list. Then we unleash our worst (or best?) terrible theme park concepts. "Corporate Land" brings the magic of endless meetings to life with attractions like the TPS Report Coaster that never actually leaves the station and the Annual Shareholders Review Musical. "Tax Season Terrace" features an IRS Audit dark ride and the Deduction Deli where servers take 30% of your food and throw it away right in front of you.The creativity continues with "Diet Land" (requiring 30,000 mandatory steps), "Dental Kingdom" (featuring the painfully slow "Floss Coaster"), "Plumland" (bathroom-themed attractions with active splash zones), "Potato Land" (celebrating root vegetables with no cleanup stations), and "The Emotionally Repressed Frontier" (where animatronics silently process family issues). Our most intriguing bad idea might be "Touchstone Land," celebrating Disney's adult-oriented film label with attractions based on hits like "The Rock," "Dead Poets Society," and "Pretty Woman." This concept actually contains elements many Disney fans might genuinely enjoy – proving that sometimes even terrible ideas contain a spark of inspiration.Join us for this hilarious brainstorming session that blends Disney parks knowledge, nostalgia, and creativity into one unforgettable cocktail of an episode. What's your favorite terrible theme park concept? Here's who we are and what is in store for you

The Mexico Pavilion at EPCOT (including Gran Fiesta Tour and its predecessor, El Rio Del Tiempo) is full of authentic details that speak to the culture, history, music and cuisine of Mexico. Opening in 1982 with the park, the pavilion now features two table-service restaurants (San Angel Inn Restaurant and La Hacienda de San Angel), a quick-service restaurant (La Cantina de San Angel), a lounge and tequila bar (La Cava del Tequila), an outdoor beverage stand (Choza de Margarita), a main attraction (Gran Fiesta Tour), live music (Mariachi Cobra), and shopping. The pavilion has a rich history, and this episode is devoted to the Imagineering, the details, the music, and the culture and history that make up the EPCOT Mexico Pavilion in World Showcase. Special thanks to Martin Smith for providing the audio for our El Rio Del Tiempo audio played in this episode. Be sure to check out his full Mexico Pavilion tribute on YouTube. This late Wednesday episode is thanks to Brendan's delayed return from vacation and Andy's road-weary week traveling the coast of California to prep for the upcoming U.S. Opens. They begin with some meandering chat about these travels and vacation preferences before jumping into an amuse bouche of whiparound Wednesday tidbits on Dustin Johnson's favorite movie, Tony Romo's first tee routine at U.S. Open qualifying, and the banning of Omar Uresti. The latest tidbit leads to the PGA Club Pro Champ becoming event of the week. Schedule for the week focuses on the Wells Fargo, Quail Hollow's ubiquity in pro golf, and Rory's return to the Tour. The best practices for poaching a caddie are also discussed, with news that Joe LaCava, with Tiger's blessing, is taking the bag of Patrick Cantlay. The International Crown is given the real event of the week. News hits on a test case for the Pat Perez Provision, Jim Furyk being named Prez Cup captain, and Annika getting an exemption into the U.S. Women's Open.
