ROGER HODGSON THE VOICE OF SUPERTRAMP 'THE LOST INTERVIEWS'  Episode 7 Roger Hodgson's inspirational lyrics, enchanting vocals and virtuoso musicianship continue to astound audiences worldwide. Hodgson's distinctive voice and profound musical arrangements have spawned numerous 'Top 40 Hits' for classic rock music legends Supertramp. Some of Roger's most distinguished classics include, “Give a Little Bit,” “The Logical Song,” “Take the Long Way Home,” “Breakfast in America,” “Dreamer,” “School,” “It's Raining Again,” and “Fool's Overture.” After performing to jubilant sold-out audiences worldwide, 'Supertramp's Roger Hodgson' returns to the stage in 2013 on a new global excursion. Roger will be making a rare appearance at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Florida on Friday, March 22nd and for the first time in the U.S.; Hodgson will be performing with a Rock Symphony Orchestra. After the release of their third studio album, Crime of the Century in 1974, Supertramp quickly captured the attention of music critics and aficionados across the globe. Crime of the Century was a superlative release. The creative writing collaboration of Hodgson and Davies, although contrasting, began a highly successful commercial period for a group comprised of highly esteemed musicians. Roger Hodgson penned; “Dreamer” became Supertramp's first big hit. The album also featured two beautifully composed arrangements by Hodgson entitled ... “Hide in Your Shell” and “If Everyone Was Listening.” Supertramp became a sought-out concert attraction because of their awe-inspiring musical abilities and riveting onstage presence. Their shows often spotlighted a movie projection that displayed the Crime of the Century album cover, an image of two hands clutching jail cell bars while floating in space. The projection synchronized hypnotically with the music above the stage. Subsequent albums … Crisis? What Crisis? (1975) and Even in the Quietest Moments (1977) which produced “Give a Little Bit” (#15 on Billboard's Pop Singles chart). In 1979, Supertramp released what would become their highest selling album, Breakfast in America. The album spawned four U.S. Billboard Hit singles… “The Logical Song” (#6 Hit), “Take the Long Way Home” (#10 Hit), “Goodbye Stranger” (#15 Hit) and “Breakfast in America” (#62 Hit). The album remained on top of the charts worldwide and eventually sold over 20-million copies, becoming one of the biggest selling albums of all-time. Supertramp made an amazingly smooth transition from a progressive rock scheme over album-oriented rock airwaves to mainstream Top 40 radio, and without compromising or sacrificing musical integrity. The bands next album, ironically entitled …Famous Last Words (1982) would be the last featuring vocalist/lyricist/keyboardist and guitarist Roger Hodgson. The album reached #5 on Billboard's Pop Album Charts and was certified Gold. To date ... Supertramp has sold over 60- million albums. Roger Hodgson officially left Supertramp in 1983 to pursue a solo career. In 1987, after his second solo album was released, Hodgson fell and shattered both of his wrists. Doctors said he would never play music again, but his strong faith, positive thinking, self-healing efforts, and physical therapy would prove the medical profession wrong. Within a year and a half, Roger was playing his music once again. Roger Hodgson released three solo albums since leaving Supertramp … In the Eye of the Storm (1984), Hai Hai (1987) and Open the Door (2000). He also released a live album entitled, Rites of Passage (1996). In 2001, Roger was invited to play with Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band. The band's lineup also featured Ian Hunter (Mott the Hoople), Greg Lake (Emerson, Lake, and Palmer), Sheila E., Howard Jones and Mark Rivera. In 2006, Hodgson released his first ever DVD entitled, Take the Long Way Home –Live in Montreal. The solo release achieved platinum status in just seven weeks. The following year, Roger accepted an invitation by Princes William and Harry to perform at the ‘Concert for Diana' in front of an audience of 65,000 people at Wembley Stadium. “Give a Little Bit,” “Dreamer,” “Breakfast in America” and “It's Raining Again” were among Diana's favorite songs. The concert was broadcast in 140 countries around the world. Roger Hodgson's most recent release, “Classics Live” is an incredible collection of his live performances recorded from his '2010 world tour.' There are also 60 unreleased songs that Roger plans to record when the time is right. I had a wonderful opportunity to chat with Roger Hodgson recently before the launch of his worldwide tour. Roger's music continues to inspire and offer hope for people everywhere. His spirituality and positive vibrations were felt throughout our entire conversation. Roger is a true delight.     Support us on PayPal!

Peter Phillips, son of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips, was set up to live a "normal" life in spite of being Queen Elizabeth II's first grandchild. It sort of worked! His future first wife only learned of his family ties when, months into their relationship, she saw him in a documentary talking about his cousins, Princes William and Harry. When things came apart in the marriage, Buckingham Palace was kind enough to leave the story well enough alone. Want early, ad-free episodes, limited series, Zoom hangouts, and more? It's time to focus on less on what potential parents want and more on what the children of the future need, says human rights lawyer and founder of the Fair Start Movement, Carter Dillard. In the episode we discuss:-The origins and the mission of the Fair Start Movement.-Why all children deserve a “fair start” in life, from both an economic and an ecological perspective. -The concept of “procreative ethics” and the policy and ideological changes that are needed to support this.-Why having kids is not a personal matter - since deciding to create another human being cannot be framed as an autonomous act.-The ethics of China's lapsed one-child policy, and whether governments have a right to interfere in people's reproductive lives.-The thinking behind the three pillars of the Fair Start Movement: “parental readiness,” “birth equity,” and “smaller families.”-The human rights issues with “pro-growth” economics - which is what tells us we need “more new people” entering the economy in order to support the aging population. -Why Japan's plummeting birth rate is framed as a crisis – despite the country being ranked number 6 in the world when it comes to quality of life.-Their differing approaches to family formation being an early indicator of the rift between Princes William and Harry (!)-Words of comfort and encouragement for people who would like to have a child, and who are concerned about the future of our planet.Learn more about Carter and his work with the Fair Start Movement HERE. You can also pre-order your copy of Women Without Kids: The Revolutionary Rise of an Unsung Sisterhood HERE—and enter your order number to receive a free reading group guide for the book.

On this week's episode of #Leadership - What's on your mind? I speak to Paul Minter. Born and brought up in East London. Paul Joined the Army, The Household Cavalry Regiment at 16. Served for 18 years. Got to the rank of Staff Sargent. Served with both Princes William and Harry. Joined a specialised unit called The Brigade Reconnaissance Regiment. Completed 5 front line tours, one in Iraq and four in Afghanistan. I have been blown up twice, once by Rocket Propelled Grenades in an ambush where less than half (3) of us survived by fighting our way out and another time by an Improvised Explosive Device. I have been awarded a bravery award for my actions in Afghanistan (Mention in Dispatchers). I suffered very badly with paranoia, anxiety and depression (PTSD) after my 4th tour. A few years later it eventually caught up with me and was forced to seek help. After realising it was not the right help for me and loosing several friends to suicide, I took myself away and learnt multiple holistic methods I could implement in my day to day life to improve my mental wellbeing. I then started helping dozens more, with great success. Eventually I left the Army in Nov 2020, to set up a charity to help more on grander scale. Along with three other veterans we set up Head Up Charity and are in a two year fundraising and brand awareness phase to create a 7-day residential retreat where anyone in the Armed Forces and veterans can go to learn multiple methods to improve their Mental Health. Please see video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsbYt1yNHBA As part of letting people know who we are we are all doing big challenges and I recently finished mine. 5,000 mile record breaking run around the coastlines of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man. I done this running 6 days a week for 7 months. Staying with different people every day, carrying a 10kg bag with all my stuff in and averaging 30 miles a day. Over 700 people ran with me, and thousands supported me in some way. I achieved dozens of national media platform attention and I have won awards including the Pride of Britain award, increasing the attention of our cause. Britain and the world are saying a final goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II at a state funeral that drew presidents and kings, princes and prime ministers. Crowds massed along the streets of London to honor a monarch whose 70-year reign defined an age. In a country known for pomp and pageantry, the first state funeral since Winston Churchill's was filled with spectacle. Royal Navy sailors drew the gun carriage carrying Elizabeth's coffin to Westminster Abbey. King Charles III and his sons Princes William and Harry walked behind as pipers played. Pall bearers then carried the coffin into the Abbey. Around 2,000 people ranging from world leaders to health care workers gathered to mourn her. After the funeral, the queen's coffin left the abbey to start a procession through central London. Hurricane Fiona is bearing down on the Dominican Republic after knocking out the power grid and unleashing floods and landslides in Puerto Rico, where the governor said the damage was “catastrophic.” No deaths have been reported, but authorities in the U.S. territory said it was too early to estimate the damage from a storm that was still forecast to unleash torrential rain across Puerto Rico on Monday. World leaders are gathering at the United Nations this week under the shadow of Europe's first major conflict since World War II. It is taking place as many countries across the globe are also confronting inequality, an escalating climate crisis, the threat of multiple famines and increasing misinformation and hate speech. The Viola Davis-led action epic “The Woman King” easily conquered the North American box office in its first weekend in theaters, against a crowded market of new releases. It surpassed expectations and earned $19 million in ticket sales, according to estimates from Sony on Sunday. The horror movie “Barbarian,” a 20th Century Studios release, took second place in its second weekend with $6.3 million. In sports, a roundup of action in the NFL, the Yankees' Aaron Judge hit his 58th and 59th home runs and the Mets completed a four-game sweep. “The Phantom of the Opera” — Broadway's longest-running show — is scheduled to close in February 2023, a victim of post-pandemic softening in theater attendance in New York. A spokesperson says the closing will come less than a month after its 35th anniversary. Former White House press secretary and Arkansas GOP gubernatorial candidate Sarah Sanders has been released from a hospital following surgery for thyroid cancer. President Joe Biden met with family members of WNBA star Brittney Griner and another American detained in Russia, Paul Whelan. The meetings Friday at the White House were the first face-to-face encounter between the president and the relatives of Griner and Whelan. Immigration lawyers are threatening legal action as they claim Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott are breaking the law by sending migrants out of their states. The Justice Department has asked a federal appeals court to lift a judge's order that temporarily barred it from reviewing a batch of classified documents seized during an FBI search of former President Donald Trump's Florida home last month.  —The Associated PressSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

But how many mothers are put on display outside the hospital just after giving birth?  And what were the expectations for Diana as mother to the heir to the throne, and how do those align with our larger perceptions of motherhood in society? Host Aminatou Sow talks to journalist Candice Brathwaite and playwright Bonnie Greer about Diana's legacy as a “mum.” If you live in the US and are having suicidal thoughts, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255 (800-273-TALK) for free and confidential support. Lawyers acting for Prince William complained about a section of the programme where a contributor claimed that the Palace had planted stories about Prince Harry's mental health. They were once so close.Princes William and Harry grew up together, supported each other after their mother's untimely death and worked side by side as they began their royal duties — two brothers seemingly bonded for life by blood, tradition and tragedy. But those links are now painfully strained as William sits in London defending the royal family from allegations of racism and insensitivity made by Harry and his wife, Meghan, from their new home in Southern California.Royal watchers will be looking closely for any signs of a truce — or deepening rift — on Thursday when William and Harry unveil a statue of their mother, Princess Diana, on what would have been her 60th birthday. The event in the Sunken Garden at London's Kensington Palace will be their second public meeting since Harry and Meghan stepped away from royal duties over a year ago.People shouldn't expect a quick resolution of the conflict because the two men are fighting over core beliefs, says Robert Lacey, a historian and author of "Battle of Brothers: William, Harry and the Inside Story of a Family in Tumult.'' William is defending the monarchy, and Harry is defending his wife."It's a matter of love versus duty, with William standing for duty and the concept of the monarchy as he sees it," Lacey said. "And then from Harry's point of view, love, loyalty to his wife. He is standing by her. These are very deeply rooted differences, so it would be facile to think that there can just be a click of the fingers."But finding some sort of rapprochement between the princes is crucial to the monarchy as Britain's royal family seeks to appeal to a younger generation and a more diverse population. When Harry married Meghan just over three years ago, it seemed as if they would be central figures in that next chapter of the royal story. The Fab Four — William and his wife, Kate, together with Harry and Meghan — were seen as a cadre of youth and vigor that would take the monarchy forward after the tumultuous 1990s and early 2000s, when divorce, Princess Diana's death, and Prince Charles' controversial second marriage to Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, cast doubt on the future of the institution.Meghan, a biracial former TV star from Los Angeles, was expected to be an important part of that effort, with Black and Asian commentators saying that for the first time there was a member of the royal family who looked like them. But the words "Fab Four" were quickly replaced in tabloid headlines by "Royal Rift."First, their joint royal office was dissolved. Then, Harry stepped away from royal duties and moved his family to North America in search of a more peaceful life. William pressed on with royal tasks, including goodwill events like accompanying his grandmother to Scotland this week to tour a soft drink factory. The relationship was further strained in March when Harry and Meghan gave an interview to U.S. talk show host Oprah Winfrey.Harry confirmed rumors that he and his brother had been growing apart, saying "the relationship is 'space' at the moment" — though he added that "time heals all things, hopefully." Harry also told Winfrey that his father, Prince Charles, didn't accept his calls for a time. And then came the real shocker. The couple revealed that before the birth of their first child, an unidentified member of the royal family had expressed concern about how dark his skin might be. Days after the broadcast, William responded, telling reporters that his was "very much not a racist family."But whatever their disagreements, out of respect for their mother, William and Harry won't put their differences on display during the statue ceremony, said historian Ed Owens, author of "The Family Firm: Monarchy, Mass Media and the British Public 1932-1953," which examines the royal family's public relations strategy."We're not going to see any acrimony or animosity between the brothers on Thursday,'' Owens said. "I think reconciliation is a long way off, but nev...

British broadcaster BBC, seen as a respected source of news and information around the world, is facing questions at home about its integrity following a scathing report on its explosive 1995 interview with Princess Diana.Britain's justice secretary said Friday that the government would review the rules governing oversight of the BBC after an investigation found that one of its journalists used "deceitful behaviour" to secure the interview and the corporation obscured this misconduct for 25 years.Princes William and Harry, Diana's sons, excoriated the BBC late Thursday, saying there was a direct link between the interview and their mother's death in a traffic accident two years later as she and a companion were being pursued by paparazzi. The interview on the Panorama program came under renewed scrutiny after Diana's brother, Charles Spencer, complained that journalist Martin Bashir used false documents and other dishonest tactics to persuade Diana to grant the interview. As a result, the BBC commissioned an investigation by retired Judge John Dyson, who released a 127-page report on his findings Thursday."It wasn't just the decision of a reporter or a production team, there were decisions made much further up the chain about the conduct of these individuals that have now proved, according to Lord Dyson, to be unfounded and wrong,'' Justice Secretary Robert Buckland told the BBC. "And therefore, government does have a responsibility to look very carefully to see whether the governance of the BBC does need reform in the light of these devastating findings."The BBC, founded in 1922, is Britain's publicly funded but editorially independent national broadcaster. The rules governing its operations are set out in a royal charter that requires the corporation to be impartial, act in the public interest and be open, transparent and accountable. A mid-term review of the BBC's governance is scheduled to begin next year.Even before the Dyson report, the BBC was under pressure from some members of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Conservative Party who believe the broadcaster has a liberal bias. Johnson said he was concerned about the findings and hoped that the broadcaster would make sure "nothing like this ever happens again.''At the heart of the scandal were documents made to look like bank statements, falsely suggesting that members of Diana's inner circle were being paid to spy on her.Spencer alleged that Bashir used the documents to gain his trust so Spencer would introduce the journalist to Diana. He also alleged that Bashir made up stories about the royal family to strengthen Diana's belief that there was a conspiracy against her. When graphic designer Matt Wiessler, who had been commissioned by Bashir to create mocked-up documents, saw the program, he immediately made the connection between his commission and the interview. He brought his concerns to BBC management, but he has long contended that they made him a scapegoat. He said there is a culture within the BBC that "the little people'' don't need to be addressed. His business faltered after the BBC blacklisted him from assignments."Only under duress do we get some sort of apology and some sort of acknowledgement," he told the BBC.Amid the outcry following the report, the BBC's director-general, Tim Davie, said the broadcaster "should have made greater effort to get to the bottom of what happened at the time and been more transparent about what it knew.''But the BBC also insisted that it had strengthened rules making it possible to outpoint failings."There has been radical change over the past 25 years. We now have a thorough and industry-leading whistleblowing scheme, which provides clear and independent routes to raise concerns and, if necessary, direct access for whistle-blowers to a non-executive director on the BBC board,'' the BBC said. The sun shone at Windsor as the royal family united to grieve the death of Prince Philip. The funeral procession and service designed by the Duke of Edinburgh was a grand display - but also an opportunity for the 30 mourners able to attend to say their goodbyes. And the conversation between Princes William and Harry as they made their way back to Windsor Castle raised hopes for the beginning of a reconciliation. Pod Save The Queen host Ann Gripper is joined by Daily Mirror royal editor Russell Myers to reflect on a unique and fitting farewell. They also discuss what comes next for the royal family - and how Prince William has already heeded the Battle Stations rallying cry which ended the service.

Princes William and Harry paid tribute Monday to their grandfather, Prince Philip, remembering his wit, sense of duty and barbecue skills. The brothers issued separate statements amid a family rift that led to Harry's decision to step away from royal duties last year, and some have speculated that their grandfather's funeral may offer an opportunity for them to talk over their differences. Philip, who had been married to Queen Elizabeth II for more than seven decades, died last week at 99.William, who is second in line to the throne, honoured Philip's lifetime of service to the queen and the United Kingdom as he remembered his grandfather's "mischievous sense of humour.""My grandfather was an extraordinary man and part of an extraordinary generation,'' said the 38-year-old William. "Catherine and I will continue to do what he would have wanted and will support The Queen in the years ahead. I will miss my Grandpa, but I know he would want us to get on with the job."Harry, who stepped away from royal duties last year and now lives in California, has arrived in the U.K. to attend Philip's funeral service, which will take place Saturday at Windsor Castle, west of London. His wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, is pregnant and was advised by her doctor not to make the long journey.Harry's statement described Philip as a man who was "authentically himself.""He will be remembered as the longest reigning consort to the Monarch, a decorated serviceman, a Prince and a Duke," said the 36-year-old Harry. "But to me, like many of you who have lost a loved one or grandparent over the pain of this past year, he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right 'til the end."William and his wife also released a picture of Philip sitting in a carriage with his great-grandson, Prince George, their oldest child. Philip has the reins.Philip's royal ceremonial funeral at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle will be a slimmed-down service due the COVID-19 pandemic and will be closed to the public. Philip, who was also known as the Duke of Edinburgh, took part in planning the funeral, which has a focus on family. As preparations for the service continue, tributes to Philip are pouring in. In the House of Commons, which was recalled early from its Easter recess because of the prince's death, lawmakers offered their condolences.Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Philip "shaped and protected the monarchy through all the vicissitudes" of the past seven decades."He gives us all a model of selflessness and of putting others before ourselves,'' Johnson said. "He made this country a better place."New Zealand, meanwhile, set the date of April 21 for a state memorial service for Philip in Wellington that will be attended by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and other dignitaries. Because there are no coronavirus restrictions in New Zealand, which has stamped out the spread of the virus, the service will host more people than Philip's funeral in Britain.

Introduction and our boobs: Minutes 0 to 4:30 Chandra delivered groceries to her mom but had to drop them off at the front door. She’s not sure her mom grasps how much everything has changed as she’s been in an assisted living facility. One of our big stories was about Padma Lakshmi getting criticized for not wearing a bra in her at-home cooking videos. We talked in episode 16 about our boobs, which is when Chandra schooled me on small breast privilege. She says women like me get cuter bras and can wear more clothing styles. We think Padma has great boobs and want ours to be like hers. I’m surprised that Chandra has to wear both a regular bra with a sports bra over it when she exercises. Royals: Minutes 4:30 to 14:15 This week felt like a regular gossip week for the first time in a while and that gives us hope. This week Prince William Zoom called two women who run charities which have benefited from grants from his patronage, the National Emergencies Trust. He was prepared and seemed at ease. He did make one slight gaffe but we think it was taken out of context. There’s news that wealthy donors are donating to Will and Kate’s Royal Foundation and that they’re parceling out the money to other causes. We question why they’re accepting those donations instead of instructing people to donate to the charities directly. Meghan and Harry donated £90,000 in proceeds from the broadcast of their wedding to Feeding Britain. Prince Harry did a Zoom chat with parents of children with special needs as part of his patronage with Well Child. He knew so much about the families of the people he talked to. Chandra points out that he’s been working with that charity for a long time. Meghan and Harry volunteered with food distribution service Project Angel Food in Los Angeles. There were some cute quotes from a man they visited who thought Harry looked familiar. Princess Anne is covering Vanity Fair, and Chandra wishes they had used a current photo of her instead of a classic one. Anne is so no-nonsense she doesn’t eat or drink when she’s working. Anne talked some smack about the younger royals without naming names, telling them to stick to basics. Some people think she was referring to Meghan and Harry, but Chandra thinks she was talking about Will and Kate, because they spent years talking about how they didn’t want to do the basic royal work. Michael Bublé: Minutes 14:15 to 18:00 In an Instagram Live video, Michael Bublé elbowed his wife, Argentinian actress Luisana Lopilato, after she talked over him. He then jerked her arm to pull her close to him, putting his arm around her neck. Many people thought it looked controlling, if not abusive. Luisana issued a statement defending Michael but he didn’t respond at all. His rep claimed that people were “cyberbullying” Michael. In other clips he says he’s going to divorce her and has clear disdain for her. He seems like an angry man and not like he’s joking at all. We’re not sure if he’s abusive, but he’s obviously controlling. Emily Blunt, who dated Michael from 2005 to 2008, refused to tell Howard Stern whether or not Michael had cheated on her, saying “I never want to talk about it. I can’t do it.” Reese Witherspoon and Draper James: Minutes 18:00 to 22:30 Reese Witherspoon promised to give teachers a free dress in a giveaway announced April 2nd with an application period until April 5th. It was worded “offer valid while supplies last,” but never specified that they only had 250 dresses available. The offer went viral quickly and they got over a million applications. Now all those women are on the Draper James mailing list, which only sent out a 30% coupon. I wonder how Reese rehabbed her image after her 2013 DUI, and Chandra explains that she did it by leaning into a stereotype of a southern woman. User Feedback: Minutes 22:30 to 24:45 Our user feedback is about our episode last week on Ancient Aliens. Our friend Becky on Twitter tried to watch the Pleiades episode but we’re not sure how it went. JC, a high school astronomy teacher, issued some corrections to the things we said last week about the Pleiades. Chandra thinks I shouldn’t have tried to fact check any of those claims. Comments of the Week: Minutes 24:45 to 29 My comment of the week is from CCSays on the post about Bruce Willis quarantining with Demi Moore instead of his wife, Emma Heming. Chandra’s comment of the week is from emmy on the post about Kate Beckinsale dating a 22 year-old emo musician. Thanks for listening bitches! Call us or leave a voicemail at 434-218-3219.

The Diamond Queen is a BBC documentary series, presented by Andrew Marr, which looks at the life of Queen Elizabeth II. The series focuses on her accession, her daily routine, how she is seen as a role model, and how she coped in her 60th year as monarch. The programme features archive footage of the Queen, as well as in-depth footage of her major engagements since the beginning of 2010 to late 2011. In the second episode, Marr assesses the Queen's attempts to modernise the monarchy, including the Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. Princes William and Harry are interviewed about their grandmother's influence on the day. The challenges faced by the monarchy are also reviewed, such as the 1992 'annus horribilis". Marr follows the Queen on her visit to the Republic of Ireland in 2011, and remembers the happy times she enjoyed on the Royal Yacht Britannia, before - to her visual sadness - it was decommissioned in 1997 by Tony Blair. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thehistoryexpress/support

The headline which attracted my attention more than any other is the fact the world has lost sixty percent of its wildlife over the past forty years. It is mind blowing and part of the fake news Trump suggests everything is that is not spouted from his own tweeter feed, but having recently visited Madagascar where I witnessed first-hand the devastation to the rainforests there, I believe the statistic is underestimated. Lemurs will soon be extinct, certain species are on the verge of it already and having had the privilege of visiting the Galapagos some years ago, I feel this is also a place not only visitors should not be allowed, but no one should be allowed. Domestic animals have no place in an area where they are killing off those species such as the giant tortoises, rare geckos and chameleons. As we learn of the plastic polluting our waters (information has been abounding about this for decades, newspaper editors have simply chosen to ignore it), efforts are finally being made to reduce the use of plastic, but it is slow. I recently visited Tesco, where fruit bought loose was far more expensive (20 – 30p which adds up) than if you bought it in plastic containers. The Royals are bringing attention to the issue, because we have no faith in politicians and journalists any more, they are the only ones left whom we are still able to collude in the illusion we ‘know’ them and they are to be trusted. Truth is we don’t ‘know’ them, but Princes William and Harry’s efforts high lighting the plight of wildlife is a good one. As a traveller, how are you able to help the wildlife? There are numerous websites out there which will highlight issues which need addressing. When you start to look what you will see will in turn depress, anger and inspire you. [http://www.explorersagainstextinction.co.uk/](http://www.explorersagainstextinction.co.uk/) is a company which funds patrols and the training of dogs who track animal poachers. They are passionate about what they do and affiliated to the Real World Conservation Trust. A recent initiative asked celebrities from around the world to draw or paint an animal of their choice which would form part of an auction. To find out more log onto their website and check out Sketch for Survival. With images from Dame Judy Dench, Helen Mirren, Rachel Riley (very good) Mary Berry (not so good, but who cares), the images are auctioned to the highest bidder. The organisation high lights how an elephant is killed every 26 minutes for their ivory. Bid for the images and the funds will go to protecting the wildlife but catching those trying to kill it. In Madagascar, an organisation called Valbio, supports local communities, helping them to understand why they must not kill the lemurs or take their land from them. Land taken to make homes (the Madagascans have very large families – think ten children plus), need to be educated into valuing their unique wildlife and preserving it. Dr Patricia Wright invited Sir David Attenborough many years ago, and the result of his visit is the excellent series he produced for the BBC. Contact Dr Wright direct on info@centrebio.org to find out how you are able to help. The lemurs are amazing, incredible and unique. My visit to Madagascar (I have spoken about this for Radio Gorgeous before – see previous report), was heart warming and heart breaking at the same time. We are privileged to have the wildlife we do. As a species we just need to value it more and deal with those who don’t. #GorgeousEscapes #Ecotravel #SaveWildLife #Lemurs

Tune in to hear Katelyn and Jenna discuss the recent documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, starring none other than her sons, Princes William and Harry. We laughed, we cried, and Jenna almost flipped her coffee table over. We begin the episode by reflecting on how our perceptions of Diana have changed over time, from our early memories of her as a beautiful princess, to our current understanding of her as someone whose stunning physical beauty was exceeded by her profound drive to help others. Later, we turn to the film, discussing our favorite parts, including the Princes’ piercing blue eyes, adorable family photos, and allusions to Harry and Meghan (and their future children?!), as well as the scenes that made us verklempt. In addition, we talk about how the documentary depicts the Princess’s charity work and her sons’ efforts to carry on her legacy, as well the film’s cast of characters and its approach to the less glamorous aspects of Diana’s life. In our royal news round-up, we swoon over Harry’s latest philanthropy; admire the very good dogs who came to meet Camilla; follow William, Kate, and Charles’s trip to Belgium for the centenary of the Battle of Passchendale; assess some royal staffing changes; tip our hats to Philip’s spiffy bowler; get indignant over Meghan’s press coverage; and review rumors about the Queen’s supposed love of a tipple (or four!).
