Yes, it's Urban Legend... a movie that asks: how much can we rip off from another movie without being sued for plaigarism?

Welcome to the Horror Project Podcast. Join hosts Laura and Phil as they review Urban Legend (1998).The murders occurring at a private university in New England are explored, each one seemingly inspired by popular urban legends. We delve into the urban legends we encountered during our own childhood's. The kill's are a mixed bag, leaving us with the impression that it holds back in certain moments, despite featuring horror icons. Joshua Jackson's role in the film leads to a brief interlude delving into teen drama Dawson's Creek. The college campus is also intriguing, as nobody appears to be concerned about the numerous missing or murdered students. Additionally, the campus radio station, with Tara Reid, freely provides handy sexual advice!Plus we shall be finding a place on the leaderboard for the movie during our Ranking. We hope you enjoy the show, thanks for listening!Email - Horrorprojectpodcast@hotmail.com X (Formerly Twitter) - @TheHorrorProje1Instagram - horrorprojectpodcastTikTok - @horrorprojectpodcast

You like slashers? You like Scream? Wanna watch two movies that are definitely not Scream, but still a lot of fun? Or at least one movie that isn't Scream and is a lot of fun but maybe not good? Then you're just the audience to join my awesome buddy Faye and I for the first two Urban Legends movies! Or at least the first one! Or the second one too, if you're me. I really hope someone else likes the second one.
Do you remember the Slasher revival of the 90s? Every movie made after 1996 was considered a "Scream" rip-off. Well, we're watching one of those rip-offs where the killer reenacts Urban Legends for their kills. It stars Jared Leto, Alicia Witt, Rebecca Gayheart, and Pacey from "Dawsons Creek". How could this movie be bad?Do You Remember Liking This Movie?
Alvaro Rodriguez has been writing since childhood and, in fact, did his best work when he was 11. Without a movie camera in sight, Rodriguez relied on the written word and a Polaroid Button to storyboard the films in his head. Anyway, while Scream 2 gets a lot of flack, with some feeling it's a lackluster sequel, while others feeling it doesn't live up to its predecessor, HOWEVER, listen in and find out what happened with the re-writes, with the internet leaks, and all the other drama that accompanied this sequel. Plus, it is BRUTAL. It definitely one-ups part one with some of the guts and gore, and at least we get Sydney, Gale, Dewey, and Randy back, but do they all survive??? Listen in and let us know your thoughts - what is YOUR favorite Scream aka scary movie??? If you ever have feedback or recommendations on future episodes, please let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com. Its plot focuses on a series of murders on the campus of a private New England university, all of which appear to be modeled after popular urban legends. In addition to its younger cast, the film features supporting performances from Robert Englund, Loretta Devine, John Neville, and Brad Dourif. Filmed in Toronto in the spring of 1998, Urban Legend was released in the United States on September 25, 1998. It grossed $72.5 million worldwide on a budget of $14 million, and received generally negative reviews from critics, with chief criticisms being that the film was a blatant rip-off of Scream (1996). The film has been credited by both cinema and folklore scholars as being one of the first major films to redistribute the urban legends and folklore depicted within it to the public.

Legend has it that Urban Legend (1998) didn't get a fair shake from critics back when it first came out — but we'll be the judge of that here at Spooky Tuesday. With school back in session, it only felt right that we revisit the college campus cult classic on our newest episode. Packed full of turn-of-the-millennium era stars like Tara Reid, Joshua Jackson, Rebecca Gayheart, and Michael Rosenbaum and with plenty of CLEAR references to other famous horror franchises, this film is definitely worthy of a close study.References:https://bloody-disgusting.com/editorials/3460895/remembering-urban-legend-19-years-later/https://collider.com/urban-legend-reboot-cast-sydney-chandler-katherine-mcnamara/https://gamerant.com/urban-legends-depicted-1998-movie-urban-legend/https://seeksghosts.blogspot.com/2013/03/urban-legend-killer-in-backseat.htmlhttps://www.thrillist.com/eat/nation/pop-rocks-urban-legend-mikey-deathhttps://www.snopes.com/fact-check/the-boyfriends-death/https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/arent-you-glad-you-didnt-turn-on-the-light/https://urbanlegends.fandom.com/wiki/The_Microwaved_Pethttps://www.songfacts.com/facts/the-ohio-players/love-rollercoasterThe Nooo Degree ShowJoin us as we discuss events and media topics from different points of view while...Listen on: Apple Podcasts Spotify
