In this sermon you'll discover how Jesus declared to his disciples that they are His friends which is why he shared the things of God in his heart with them. Secondly, after His resurrection, Jesus spoke of the Disciples as his brothers. Later the Apostle Paul understood and explained how we are part of the household of God. We pray, our Father in Heaven...Reference: John 15:14-15, Matthew 28:7 Excerpt from: What is the Church (3/6): The Family of God
Sunday Sermon Summary: 'Disruptive Compassion' Today, Bill Chapman continued his message from last week, delving deeper into the concept of 'Disruptive Compassion' and how our compassion should be more than just a feeling – it should be a force that disrupts the status quo. The Essence of Compassion: Bill started by reminding us of the descriptions of God's character in the Hebrew Bible, which often highlight His compassion, grace, and unfailing love. The Hebrew word for compassionate, "Rakhum," is related to the word for womb, suggesting a deep, motherly tenderness at the core of compassion. It's not just an emotion; it's an action. God's compassion is seen in His actions, as He rescues His people. Jesus is the embodiment of God's deep compassion in human form. He was moved by human suffering, and His life reflects the compassionate nature of God. He calls His followers to imitate this compassion by allowing ourselves to be moved by the pain of others, embracing those who hurt, and actively working to relieve suffering. Compassion in Action: Compassion is an intense emotion, and the key question Bill posed was whether we are motivated to take action by the compassion we feel. Matthew 9:36-38 shows Jesus' compassion in action, as He saw the crowds and was moved to encourage His disciples to pray and meet the needs of the people. 2 Corinthians 1:4 reminds us that we receive God's comfort so that we can comfort others in their troubles. What Is Disruptive Compassion? Bill explained that disruptive compassion is a model Jesus lived out. His actions disrupted the status quo and challenged the religious elite. Examples abound in the Bible: when He touched lepers, opened blind eyes, and associated with those considered outcasts. Reference: John 11:33-35, Mark 1:41, Mark 5:1-17, Mark 8:1-10 & Luke 5:20 Disruptive compassion goes beyond sympathy; it's positive action that disrupts the norm. It's driven by love and kindness, modelling what we should model. Bill proposed that disruptive compassion isn't just about changing someone's destination; it's about altering the course and direction of their journey. By journeying with them, step by step, we manifest God's compassion and ultimately lead them closer to Him. We are called to love others as we love ourselves. With disruptive compassion, we can positively change how people feel, think, and live their lives. Disruptive compassion can have a profound spiritual impact, leading people to encounter the God of all compassion and love through us. Bill emphasised that compassion is not just an attribute of God; it's a quality of His people. It sets us apart when we use compassion disruptively to challenge the status quo. May we be inspired to embody disruptive compassion, positively impacting the world and drawing people closer to God through our actions and love.

Today's Scripture John 8:42-59 “You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires.”(John 8:44) The Principle is this: you do what your father says. Main idea: Relationship with your spiritual father either produces good or evil in and through your life depending upon if that spiritual father is the devil or God! So, the question is, “Who's your daddy?” I. When your father is the devil, you live his lies. “We don't need answers from God, we need attachment with God.” (Waymaker, Voskamp, Ann) The primary lie that the devil wants us to believe is “You are a fool to trust God." Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." (I Peter 5:8) “…who accuses them day and night before our God (Rev. 12).” III. The truth will set you free, but such freedom comes only as we bring the lies we believe into the light. Reference (II Corinthians 12:2-3) Reference (James 4:7-8) 1. Identify the lies that have taken root in your own heart. 2. Counter by speaking the truth of God's Word into your heart. 3. Be still and know He is your God (Ps. 46:10). “So the Jews said to him, ‘You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?' Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.'” (John 8:57-58) “As long as Christ remains outside of us, and we are separated from him, all that he has suffered and done for the salvation of the human race remains useless and of no value for us…All that he possesses is nothing to us until we grow into one body with him.” John Calvin

How is it that people who equally love and honor Jesus can reach such different conclusions about the person and work of God the Spirit? Isn't it just like the devil to create division in the Church over that member of the Godhead who lives inside the Christian and is at work in the earth today! Having the same Bible, you would think that we would believe the same things about the Holy Spirit, His ministry, the gifts He imparts and how He leads and guides believers today. But large numbers of Jesus-followers intensely disagree and divide over what they believe (or do not believe) concerning the Holy Spirit. This episode of Mavericks & Misfits walks us through what Jesus himself teaches about Holy Spirit. While there is much more written in Scripture than what we find from the Lord in John 16, we can certainly learn much about what Jesus intended for every generation of His followers to learn and believe about God the Spirit. This episode begins a series of podcasts which will help both Charismatics and non-Charismatics to frame up their views on the Holy Spirit that is free from denominational limitations, unexamined traditions and unsupported practices. We need to align with the Word of God in all our beliefs. What we believe about the Holy Spirit is no exception. Reference: John 16
When Jesus assumed the role of the lowest household servant by washing the feet of the disciples, He left us an example. He told the disciples that they could not comprehend in the moment what exactly He was doing when He washed their feet. He promised them that they would understand later as they followed His example by intentionally humbling themselves and showing honor to each other. So, what does Jesus want Christians today to learn about humility, serving others and showing honor to each other? How do we wash each other's feet in this current season of hostility and division? Who among us is willing to follow the vulnerable example of the King who served in the lowliest way? When we take the time to consider in depth the great differences between the disciples whose feet Jesus washed that day, we can understand the richness of His present call for us to show honor to one another - especially those who are very different from us in the Body of Christ. God honors those who honor others. At some point, He will call us to show honor to those with whom we have great differences. This message shows us what that looks like. Welcome to our new Summer Series ~ “False Prophets, False Teachers, False Teaching”. This week, we find that scripture has… m-o-r-e… warnings! John and Paul are not done yet on this subject. You really have to wonder how bad it was then … considering how bad it is now. Verse five, in 2 John 1, tells the lady to walk in God’s commandment, the first one. This should not be confused with the first of The Ten Commandments. The commandment John is speaking of comes from Christ’s own words which, is found in the Vine and the Branches. Reference John 15:1-17 which ends in the words of Christ. “This I command you – to love one another.” Can you see that the commandments of Jesus to all are also considered law? “[15] ‘If you love me, you will obey my commandments.’” (John 14:15) There is a big difference between what temptation is and sin. We sin only when we yield to the temptations we have the power to withstand! It should be clear… We fall to false prophets, false teachers and false philosophies because we do not know who we are, what we are, and what is ours in Christ. – Because we dislike, at the very least, anything that negatively impacts our lives as Jesus’ own words promise will come! Verses ten and eleven, in 2 John 1, make another clear statement. We are not to even offer a greeting to those of a lawless nature! Doing so makes us capitulant in their lawlessness! This is why the lady is instructed to not invite such a one into her home. We hope you find this study most instructive. Get your sharp pencil, paper and Bible out! Then click Play! We are always taking about the truth and that the truth shall set you free. So I wanted to talk about the different truths that i talk about in all my platforms and would like to share on what truth i talk about. Reference: John 8:31-37 Amplified Bible (AMP) 31 So Jesus was saying to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you abide in My word [continually obeying My teachings and living in accordance with them, then] you are truly My disciples. 32 And you will know the truth [regarding salvation], and the truth will set you free [from the penalty of sin].” 33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been enslaved to anyone. [a]What do You mean by saying, ‘You will be set free’?” 34 Jesus answered, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, everyone who practices sin habitually is a slave of sin. 35 Now the slave does not remain in a household forever; the son [of the master] does remain forever. 36 So if the Son makes you free, then you are unquestionably free. 37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants; yet you plan to kill Me, because My word has no place [to grow] in you [and it makes no change in your heart].
John 6:35 Jesus replied, "I am the Bread of Life." Jesus clarifies to all of the disciples that it was God who provided manna for the Israelites in the wilderness. Jesus said, "I assure you, Moses didn't give them bread from heaven. My Father did. And now He offers you the true bread from heaven. The true bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." God provided manna daily for the Israelites to gather and eat. In the same way, we should seek Jesus - The Bread of LIfe - daily. Many people love Jesus for what He can do in their lives physically, but they don't want to surrender to Him and give up control. Our control leads to death - but surrender to Jesus leads to life. Reference: John 6
