This one gets spicy immediately! JMac has been on the podcast a couple times before and the Ones Ready Team couldn't wait to get the most BRO that ever went CRO to sit down again! The conversation was filled with fascinating topics that will inspire you to become a better leader. It covered the unofficial nature of the podcast, which adds an element of authenticity and free-flowing conversation. The importance of podcasts in bringing military conversations to the public cannot be overstated, as it helps to bridge the gap between military personnel and the public. The conversation also highlighted the need for problem-solving and emotional intelligence in leadership, which are critical skills that every leader should possess. The issue of personnel problems in the military was also discussed, emphasizing the importance of leaders and managers in creating a positive work environment.Furthermore, the conversation delved into the focus on social issues rather than important matters, the stratification of the force, and its impact on competition. The importance of humility and competence in individuals was also stressed, and the need to cut through the madness and lead with common sense was emphasized.Overall, the conversation was insightful, inspiring, and motivating. It will make you think about your own leadership skills and encourage you to strive for excellence in all that you do.Chapters00:00 The Unofficial Official Podcast, Aaron steals the intro13:52 Focusing on Important Matters, Not Social Issues30:35 Emotional Intelligence and Tough Decision-Making39:00 Managing Expectations and Taking Charge of Your Destiny46:11 Avoiding the Need for Approval53:23 Dealing with Haters and Staying True to YourselfJoin this channel to get access to perks:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9aFBBZoBcQk8UUN_pO7nDA/joinCollabs:Ones Ready - OnesReady.com 18A Fitness - Promo Code: 1ReadyAlpha Brew Coffee Company - Promo Code: ONESREADYATACLete - Follow the URL (no promo code): ATACLeteCardoMax - Promo Code: ONESREADYDread River - Promo Code: ONESREADY Eberlestock - Promo Code: OR10Hoist - Promo Code: ONESREADYTrench Coffee Company - Promo Code: ONESREADYThe content provided is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. Why do we keep heading back to the woods? WHY?? Nothing good ever happens there.Alexander James would argue otherwise, but he's clearly made of sterner stuff than me. In his debut novel, The Woodkin, Alex parlays his love of the wild outdoors into a story that heads toward a familiar backwoods nightmares, before veering far off the beaten trail into something stranger and even scarier. In this episode we talk about his love for the woods of the Pacific Northwest (and yes! I ask him about Bigfoot of course). We cover the controversy surrounding an earlier title choice, the influence of D&D on his writing and the trick to realistically depicting fear in fiction. It's a happy hike into darkness. In this week's Team Never Quit episode, Marcus has a deep dive conversation with U.S. Air Force PJ, and combat rescue officer, Jonathan Harmon. NOTE: “PJ” (Air Force Pararescuemen) are the only DOD elite combat forces specifically organized, trained, equipped, and postured to conduct full spectrum Personnel Recovery (PR) to include both conventional and unconventional combat rescue operations. Jonathan was instrumental in successfully locating Marcus in Afghanistan with the most miniscule of data which facilitated his subsequent rescue. Listen in to Jonathan's fascinating details of all that it takes to bring our soldiers home. In this episode you will hear: • My Aunt was a WASP (Women's Auxiliary Service Pilot). She flew aircraft across the Atlantic, and trained other pilots. They would test and assure that an aircraft was safe to fly. (10:06) • I had absolutely no intention of joining the military. I was into skating & surfboarding. (16:28) • I loved skydiving. I was with my peeps for the first time in my life. (23:23) • [Red ants] get real pissed off when you do 8 counts on top of them. (29:57) • [In Afghanistan rescue missions] you're out there rescuing kids and village elders. You want to let them know that you stand shoulder to shoulder with them. You're not gonna leave ‘em high and dry. (51:09) • It wasn't that I traded a life for a degree, but that how it felt. I promised myself that I would never allow my education get in the way of my job. (65:33) • One of the best things we learned was that one of the best medicines, sometimes, is lead. (70:12) • Most people don't know that 1003 Victor became known as Iraqi Freedom. (75:42) • I had the chance to coordinate about 1,000 rescue missions. Recovery missions as well as rescue missions. (76:05) • Reintegration is the process that returns people with homer, helping them transition back from captivity or isolation, back to their units and families so they can become “value added.” (78:18) • We're seeing Post traumatic stress in epic proportions. (79:26) • As a PJ, we focus on medical – combat medicine. (80:41) • I can't declare a personnel recovery event, because they're not my forces. (91:38) • It's important to know that a report has to come through a channel that is bonafide. (91:47) • [Operation Red Wings - After a series of signals and analysis, I thought] what I feel like is that I've got somebody on the run. And I'm really certain it's an American, because of where they're running and how they're running. And it gave me a confidence factor that I had at least one survivor. [97:34)
The Story Shared: Brad opened up about a time when a friend and fellow paramedic tragically died in a helicopter crash. The experience of dealing with another paramedic's death on the job struck a nerve in Brad as he had to deal with his own mortality. Later on in his career, he would come to work and operate out of the same helicopter service for over 14 years. He shares how he was able to overcome the grief of his friend dying and do the same thing that killed him. About Brad Norris: Brad “Nobby” Norris started working for the ambulance in 1988 at the tender age of 18. He has worked as a paramedic for the past 34 years and continues to this day. Working as a critical care paramedic for 17 years, Brad has vast knowledge and experience in the profession demonstrated by having worked as an Urban Search and Rescue Officer, special response team leader, rescue helicopter paramedic, officer in charge, educator, and operation supervisor. He describes having a fantastic career with lifelong friends, and brotherhood and loved helping people. He has gone from a shy boy at school to a confident man who takes charge of challenging scenes. After all these years still going strong mentally, physically, enthusiastic and focused as a clinician is a testament to his nature. He is now looking forward to the next few years mentoring the younger generation and guiding them through their initial challenging years. Career Highlights: → Responding to Earthquake in New Zealand. → Operating in fires, floods and cyclones as a special response team leader. Expertise: → Real-world application of paramedic skills. → Leadership under pressure. Follow me on Instagram and YouTube. For more, go to https://www.paramedicmindset.com.au/ Music by Ehrling Music.

On this episode of the Ones Ready podcast, the team sits down with the first Combat Rescue Officer, retired Colonel Vincent Savino to talk about the genesis of the Combat Rescue Officer (CRO) career field and the origins of its formation. They obviously recognized a need for it since the Pararescue community had gone so many years without having officers. Some random stories of unusual things that people have found in the woods, here and there, over the past 150+ years. The stories are fun and interesting, so check it out. Listeners: We apologize for the fact that the volume of the audio is uneven. Unfortunately, no matter what we did, we could not fix the problem, despite hours of editing. We we did not have enough free time to re-record the whole episode. Sorry about that! Also: When we recorded, Jim had a sore / hoarse throat, which clearly messed with his vocals. Dim the lights and gather round, children, because Radtober has begun! Kyle, Matthew and Natalie start the spooky season right with a little outdoor podcast about the internet lore that all the kids love: Creepypastas. They are joined by comedians and creepy aficionados Brian Cox and Vanessa Gritton to break down some of their favorite stories. They point out that not all pastas are created equal, with some being modern classics while others pretty impressively capturing the crude ruminations of a middle schooler with a keyboard. Creepypastas have become the modern version of the urban legend or twice-told tale updated for the world of smartphones and internet. They explore the origins of the genre and how it has evolved, review some of their favorite stories, and recommend some places to get your fix if you're new to this world. This episode is a pretty solid primer for the uninitiated and full of a ton of fun riffs if you're a longtime fan. It's a good time for pretty much everyone but Natalie who thinks they are very, very dumb. Also, in case you were wondering, yes, they do briefly discuss which ACTUAL pasta is the creepiest.
