The sound of thunder brings a story of conflict, tragedy, and love to life. All gods are in danger when a threat arises with a vengeful Gorr. In this podcast, I explore the the cinematic portrayal of selfish gods, the possibility of an eternal reward, and the reason for pain. Is there a real god that cares for you outside of mythology? Does eternity offer a prize for those who endure to the end? Is pain a cause-and-effect process? Summon the bifrost and discover the truth when you listen to Flick'n Awesome!
In this episode of Marveling at Marvel's Marvels, we talk about Thor: Love & Thunder! Needless to say, spoilers abound for this MCU entry. Here's what's in store: Gorr lures Thor with minors- a score, maybe more- to fight a war before Eternity's door.
For better or for worse, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a very different place after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019). Thor: Love and Thunder is now out on Disney+, which gave us an opportunity to finally figure out if it was a worse theatrical experience, or an at-home viewing experience. Taika Waititi's second Marvel movie remains a disjointed affair that appears to have solid 10-minute chunks missing. It's almost as if the old DC Films crew took over. We discuss the film's messy narrative, its disservice to the characters of Jane Foster, Gorr the God Butcher and Valkyrie, and its tendency to frequently undermine its own serious themes. — Hosted by Akhil Arora and Rohan Naahar, The Long Take is fully bootstrapped. In which the Mister and Monsters join me in reviewing THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER (2022) which is currently streaming on Disney+. In the latest installment of the Thor story, director Taika Waititi shares screenplay credits with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson to continue Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) story after the events of INFINITY WAR. It's explained that Thor has carried on with the Guardians of the Galaxy to help those in dire need of assistance. He's alerted to some trouble afoot with Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale). He departs but not before Peter (Chris Pratt) imparts the lesson of it's better to have been hurt and have loved than to not have loved at all. The script is over the top but the subtle nuances of that message, which is woven throughout the film and highlighted in all the interactions between Thor and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), and the end sequence really made this film for me. The film has a run time of 1 h 58 m, and is rated PG-13. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review. One of this summer's big movie hits was Thor: Love and Thunder, the 29th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is directed by Taika Waititi and stars Chris Hemsworth once again as Thor alongside Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Waititi, Russell Crowe, and Natalie Portman. In the film, Thor attempts to find inner peace, but must return to action and recruit Valkyrie, Korg and Jane Foster - who is now the Mighty Thor—to stop Gorr the God Butcher, a new adversary who is on a quest to eliminate all gods from existence! Steve and Bill are on hand to offer up what they thought of the movie along with discussing some of the news that came out of this year's San Diego Comic Con and head over to the virtual spinner rack to discuss a few new books. Also it is pretty much an Asgardian miracle that we are delivering this audio episode to you: we encountered Ragnarok-level problems with the mix. There may be a few portions where Steve is a bit too low in the mix but we are proud to still be able to bring our 244th episode to you!
Thor: Love and Thunder starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, and Taika Waititi who also Directed the movie. Thor is lost and trying to find his purpose. He meets up with an old flame, and then becomes the target of a man called Gorr the God Butcher. In a story not too dissimilar to Infinity War, instead of a McMuffin used to wipe out half of life, Gorr uses a McMuffin to kill all the gods. Jane, the old flame, takes the shattered Mjolnir (from Thor Ragnorock) and uses it to become “The Mighty Thor,” but at a cost. I feel like what makes this movie so enjoyable, is also what I don't like about it at the same time. Thor Ragnorock had a really good balance of comedy and seriousness. And with this latest iteration, Taika Waitit leaned even heavier into the comedy. While I laughed at all the clever humor, I wished that the movie took itself a little more seriously. The shattered Mjolnir brought some new excitement for the action scenes. I liked how it acted like the classic hammer we all know and love, but it also had a few new tricks up its sleeve. The inclusion of Guns'n'Roses to the soundtrack felt like it fit in really well. There were 3-4 songs sprinkled throughout the film, including November Rain — which I despised growing up because you would listen to it constantly and the song is 37 minutes long. But here, it isn't too bad. The biggest thing this movie introduces to the overall MCU is the introduction of The Gods. Any and all deities that we know of, and some from the comics too, all seem to dwell in Omnipotent city, a city that looks like what a city of gods would look like. Pristine and clean, and plentiful. They all seem to be living lavishly, which is where Gorr's motivations come from. While he and many creatures throughout the cosmos worship and suffer(including his daughter who dies of thirst), the gods drink wine and party with no concern or care for those who worship them. I was excited to see the inclusion of the character of eternity, but at the same time, he didn't do anything on screen. He was almost like a statue. While in concept, a creature like that, probably would just be stoic, but at the same time, I hoped to see more interaction. 2 tickets, definitely want to see this again, with any hope I will. My criticisms of this movie are small and not enough to take me out of the latests installment in the MCU.
#thorloveandthunder #marvelcinematicuniverse #MCU For this episode of the FHP, the entire Atlanta crew discuss the latest Marvel offering, Thor: Love & Thunder. A devastating loss of both family and faith gives a being named Gorr a brutal mission in life: to slay all of the gods. In another part of the universe, Thor has been busy being a hero while working with the Guaradians of the Galaxy. But when they part ways, Thor has to figure out who he is without the Guardians, the Avengers, or as King. As Gorr makes his way to New Asgard to threaten the residents, Thor returns home to fight alongside King Valkyrie, coming face-to-face with a powerful new ally in the form of his fomer flame, Jane Foster - now the Mighty Thor. Oh, and there are goats. Towards the end of the episode, we talk a little bit about the upcoming Dragon Con convention, where Hanako and Anthony will appear as panelists. It's time to jump into the world of Thor once more!! We've been following Thor and his fellow Asgardians for many years now, and we're talking about the fourth installment of the series! Did you think that Thor: Love & Thunder was going to live up to the hype from the third film? Or from Endgame? "Thor embarks on a journey unlike anything he's ever faced -- a quest for inner peace. However, his retirement gets interrupted by Gorr the God Butcher, a galactic killer who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who -- to his surprise -- inexplicably wields his magical hammer. Together, they set out on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher's vengeance." This is a wholly different movie from the last film, and I think that might be something that has turned some Thor fans off. BUT, it has definitely not been the same feeling for us. It might not be "as good" but it's definitely still good, stands on its own, and feels like a very different genre of movie, which is ok to us! For this episode we're back in the MCU, talking about the latest movie, Thor: Love and Thunder. Bringing back writer/director Taika Waititi, the movie sees Chris Hemsworth's Thor reuniting with his ex-girlfriend played by Natalie Portman and other characters from the previous films, as they face off against Gorr the God Butcher, portrayed by Christain Bale. ATMI producers Madison Knutson, Ormund Alaois, and Logan Smith got together on Zoom to discuss how it compares to other Thor movies, the brand of comedy that Waititi brings to it, and whether or not this is the character that deserved four standalone features. If Gorr was successful and got his wish, would it destroy the universe? Go to http://avast.com to check out Avast One. In Thor Love and Thunder, Gorr had one mission: kill all the gods. Of course, Thor, Mighty Thor and Valkyrie all stood in the way of Gorr achieving that goal, but what would happen in the MCU if he got his wish and wiped out all the gods? Would the citizens of the universe be grateful? Would it plunge the 616 into total chaos? Is there evidence that a Gorr in a different timeline already accomplished this task?!
