Just below you are the sounds of Town Run as it rushes to confluence with the famous river that eventually cuts between the District of Columbia and Virginia (about 60 miles to the South and East from here). Separately, am I the only person that likes to scream while stretching? My family told me to stop doing it — but I always thought it was normal. I don't know how to describe the type of stretching — basically just shoving both fists out into the air and flexing everything. I just looked online to see how to describe it adequately, and I ran into an article about incorporating a daily full-body stretch routine. I will not be doing that.

The U.S. Supreme Court decided earlier this year that cities can enforce bans on homeless people sleeping outdoors, even in areas where shelter space is lacking. John Leciew, Pennlive Patriot News Reporter has been following the unhoused trends in Harrisburg and Cumberland County. "It is right here in our backyard. Everyone was seeing it. We definitely saw more homeless, in the Harrisburg area. And we'd like everybody else who would drive into the city and witness it, wanted to know what was going on with them. So we we approached it from very, all angles, looking at the agencies who were coordinating and trying to serve the various needs of the homeless, but also then getting into the shelters and talking to the homeless themselves and actually going to some of the tent encampments along the river and knocking on tents and just trying to get the stories of what led people to homelessness, "said Luciew. There were nearly 16 homeless encampments along Riverfront Park in Harrisburg. As spring approached, City Spokesman Matt Maisel announced the unhoused people had to vacate the area. "Well, I do think that is part of the ongoing dialog between the city, which is trying to manage being a livable city for all citizens and all visitors who come to to come to these major events on Riverfront Park and the homelessness, the homeless people and the people who help serve them, "said Luciew. Two best known Shelters in Harrisburg is the Bethseda Mission and YWCA. While following this story, Luciew found there were more organizations stepping in to help the unhoused people. "During the winter, there is a drop in shelter run by Downtown Daily Bread, which is the, right across from the Capitol building that provides hot meals, every day of the week, every day of the year around lunchtime. But they also have other services that are focused on the homeless there, including a visiting health program where they they get regular checkups. And if they have chronic issues, they have their issues treated. They also have, mail service. In other words, if you're homeless, living in a tent, you don't get any mail. And but but you can have your mail delivered to Downtown Daily Bread," said Luciew. Listen to the podcast to hear more of the conversation. An international exposition known as Expo '74, or Spokane's World's Fair, was held in Spokane from the 4th of May to the 3rd of November, 1974, marking the third World's Fair that the Evergreen State would host.Spokane, home to just 170,000 people at the time, became the smallest city to host a world's fair and yet managed to draw in about 5.2 million visitors. The environment was the dominant topic. Ten nations, including the US, Japan, and the Soviet Union, as well as other states and businesses, had pavilions on the 100-acre property. The initial purpose of the fair was to clear and restore the ground next to the majestic Spokane River falls, which had been overrun by warehouses, trestles, and train tracks for many years. Leading Spokane's bold move to host a world's fair and turn the downtown site into a public park was King Cole, an experienced urban regeneration project manager. The location was redesigned after the fair ended to become Riverfront Park, which serves as the city's downtown attraction and meeting place today.A special thank you goes out to Al Hirsch for providing the music for the podcast, check him out on YouTube.Find merchandise for the podcast now available at: https://washington-history-by-jon-c.creator-spring.comIf you enjoy the podcast and would like to contribute, please visit: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/EvergreenpodIf you have any questions, episode ideas you'd like to see explored, or just have a general comment, please reach out at Historyoftheevergreenstatepod@gmail.comTo keep up on news for the podcast and other related announcements, please like and follow:https://www.facebook.com/HistoryoftheevergreenstatepodcastFind the podcast over on Instagram as well: @HISTORY_EVERGREENSTATEPODCASTYou can also find the podcast over on YouTube:http://www.youtube.com/@historyoftheevergreenstatepodThank you for listening to another episode of the History of the Evergreen State Podcast!

A massive brawl along the docks of a river in Alabama unfolded this weekend, and it was pretty black and white as far as what went down, literally. The chaotic scene took place Saturday at Riverfront Park in Montgomery, AL, and has led to multiple arrests. Jamie Foxx felt he had to apologize for an alleged 'anti-semitic' social media post, but many in Hollywood are saying there was no need to do that, and it's stirring a massive debate. Plus, Elon Musk might need more time to train and get ready for a cage match against Mark Zuckerberg, but the Facebook founder says he's ready to rumble now.
