February 9, 2025: "Telling Our Faith Story" with Leah Sealey

Preaching for the Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Leah Sealey offers a reflection on how story telling can help enhance our lives of faith and discipleship: "What does this gospel reading about “being called” or even the Greek translation of “netting people” enliven in you? Perhaps you can spend some time alone or with a partner, journaling or reflecting together. Tell a story about a time when you had a change of heart or had an experience of being “won over”, or about your ongoing commitment to serving others in order to heal the fractures in our broken world." Leah Sealey convenes MKE Spiritual Directors, a peer development group for spiritual directors and a resource for those seeking spiritual direction in the Milwaukee area. In the spring of 2020, she graduated from Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology's Cor Unum program with a MA in systematic theology. Dr Ralph Martin: Trust your Bible

In this conversation with Dr Ralph C. Martin we discuss the life changing impact of the Word of God. The reverse is also true. Most problems in the Church are related to how one views the Bible. Meet a Catholic professor who believes that we have an inerrant Bible that contains the Word of God. Dr Martin teaches at Sacred Heart Seminary and president of Renewal Ministries. Under Pope Benedict XVI he was advisor for evangelism. Are the Scriptures sacred vehicles that contain the reliable Word of God? Or is the Bible a collection of fallible human writers who were inspired to write things about God as they imagined him from below? How you see the Holy Scriptures has a direct impact on morality and doctrine. Professor Martin believes that Christians benefit from clarity. That Rome preaches an empty hell these days, if there is one, seems in flagrant contradiction with the message of Jesus. That many in the Church teach that morality does not matter as long as one is true to his feelings, is evaluated as a grave mistake in Scripture, which says that no fornicator, robber or person who continues to commit homosexual acts will inherit the kingdom of God. In the 1970's Dr Martin warned against the collapse of Biblical authority in the Church in A Crisis of Truth. First a series of talks, it was published in 1982. He spoke clearly and forcefully on the crisis that was beginning to pervade the Church, which was ultimately a crisis of authority. Is God in control of religion and morality? Or are we allowed to created our own? While there was a temporarily move towards Biblical authority under pope JP2 and Benedict 16, this was mostly not the case in catholic education. By the 2020 the crisis had also permeated the ecclesiastical hierarchy. To address these circumstances, Ralph wrote his book: “A Church in Crisis, pathways forwards.” In this conversation he tells us about the transforming power of the Word of God in his life. The Bible is not theory, but the living Voice of God, an instrument that he uses to make you grow spiritually and morally: trusting in the Father, through the Word, applied by the Holy Ghost. As to critical scholarship, Ralph Martin's message is: Take care which voices you listen to and decide to trust. There are scholars who profess the Scriptures as the inerrant and reliable Word of God. Have faith in God, and: “Keep on!”

“It's been a crazy, beautiful, amazing adventure, and amidst the difficulties or the uncertainties, it's always absolutely been worth it every day.” Fr. Adam Nowak joins Fr. Craig and Fr. Drew to share his vocation story. Although he initially resisted his vocation, Fr. Adam eventually became certain that God was calling him to become a priest. (0:02) Fr. Craig and Fr. Drew introduce this episode's guest, Fr. Adam Nowak. Fr. Adam describes his upcoming assignment at St. Anne Parish in Warren, Fr. Drew highlights his recent pastoral work, and Fr. Craig mentions a recent discernment weekend at Sacred Heart Seminary.(9:20) Vocation story: Fr. Adam grew up Catholic, but “the faith wasn't very overtly practiced” in his home. In high school, he started attending a youth group with his girlfriend and soon “fell in love with God and His Church.” Fr. Adam entered college intending to become a psychologist. He felt a call to the priesthood during his freshman year but ignored it for a time. Eventually, he realized, “When I thought about the future, and I thought about being a psychologist, I still felt empty. When I thought about the priesthood…there was nonstop excitement, there was joy, there was fulfillment.” Fr. Adam attended a discernment weekend, felt “100% sure” of his vocation, and applied to the seminary.(22:18) Just before entering seminary, Fr. Adam made a pilgrimage on the Camino. That experience taught him, “I can't do this, but God can do this in me and through me and with me…I can't be a priest except with and in and through Jesus, who gives me the strength and the grace to do so.” The priests discuss the support that Fr. Adam received from his parents, his call to the priesthood, and how he ended his relationship with the woman he was dating as he “became more confident in accepting that call.” (32:18) Fr. Adam shares that “being a priest was nothing like I had ever anticipated nor expected…Nothing can actually prepare you for entering into the messiness of the lives of people.” He explains, “The priesthood is difficult. It's joyful, it's beautiful, but it's not easy. But at the same time, God gives the grace necessary for it.” Fr. Craig affirms that “prayer is key.” Fr. Adam describes his various assignments and explains that he is currently completing two business degrees. He desires to use his administrative gifts to serve St. Anne Parish.(44:30) Fr. Adam advises men who are struggling to answer the call to the priesthood: “What's key is taking time to pray and listen, to really listen to the desires of your heart.” He suggests Ignatian discernment and shares that when he struggled with his own call, “my prayer changed from ‘Lord, what do you want me to do with my life?' to ‘Lord, give me the strength to accept what you're calling me to do with my life.'” He affirms that priesthood has “been a crazy, beautiful, amazing adventure, and amidst the difficulties or the uncertainties, it's always absolutely been worth it. Every day.” Fr. Adam closes the episode in prayer.

“Jesus is my rock. And he's the source of that joy.” Join Fr. Jim Houbeck, Associate Pastor of Resurrection Parish, as he shares his vocation story. Although he had previously dismissed the idea of becoming a priest, a clear vocational call amid a crisis led Fr. Jim to follow God into the seminary. (0:03) Fr. Craig welcomes this episode's guest, Fr. Jim Houbeck. Fr. Drew thanks listeners who have shared positive feedback about Men of the Hearts. The priests share recent blessings: Fr. Jim talks about offering the Lenten Lamentations devotion at Resurrection Parish, Fr. Drew describes his recent ministry experiences and Fr. Craig highlights the well-attended Evening Prayer and Dinner with the Archbishop event. (13:57) Fr. Jim is invited to share his vocation story. As a child, he experienced several different desires about what he wanted to do when he grew up. In high school, Fr. Jim attended a discernment weekend at Sacred Heart Seminary. However, he “felt like a fish out of water” and left the weekend early. He studied elementary education in college and eventually had “a big crisis” about his future career. He relates, “Amid that chaos, there was a voice as clear as day. And that voice said, ‘What about the priesthood?'” Fr. Jim quickly decided to withdraw from college and apply to seminary.(29:24) Fr. Craig, Fr. Drew, and Fr. Jim discuss thoughts about dating, priestly discernment, and responding to God's call. Fr. Drew advises, “If Jesus is calling and you think you have a call, then go test it,” and “If for some reason you find out that's not the call, then you can freely go into the world and begin to take up the vocation of marriage.” (38:10) One summer, Fr. Jim lived at SS. Peter and Paul Parish in North Branch. Over that summer, he grew close to a local family who became his “spiritual family.” He says, “What God showed me is that though I'm not called to be a dad or a husband, He will provide.” (42:55) Fr. Craig asks Fr. Jim what his prayer life was like when he decided to pursue the priesthood. Fr. Jim explains, “My understanding of being Catholic was I go to church on Sundays, I pray before I go to bed, I pray before meals, and that's it.” Fr. Drew says, “I don't think we're saying that you shouldn't have a life of prayer. By all means. But it's just to say that God is big enough and powerful enough that we have to be open to the reality that even if you're not quite doing all the things you ought to be doing, He can still show up and put something on your heart.” (57:50) Fr. Craig asks Fr. Jim to advise a man considering the priesthood. Fr. Jim shares the words of a monsignor who influenced his vocation: “I am a happy priest.” He affirms, “No matter what I'm enduring or going through, Jesus is my rock. And He's the source of that joy.” Fr. Jim closes the episode in prayer.

CAPTAIN JOHN L. KAUL (RET) – NAVY MAN FOR 26 YEARS Captain John L. Kaul (ret) served as a full time Catholic chaplain in the Navy for 26 years. He spent time with the Marines, Admirals and other chaplains of all faiths. Fr. Kaul was born in Wyandotte and attended Sacred Heart Seminary, Detroit, and St. John's Provincial Seminary, Plymouth Township. He also attended Mercy College in Detroit. NAVY CAPTAIN DALE WHITE (RET) – COMBAT ACTION RIBBON AND BRONZE STAR RECIPIENT Reverend White's approach to being a chaplain was a missionary who brings the church's perspective and assurances of God's grace to military personnel. “We have a unique way of presenting God to an audience of 18-to-22-year-olds,” he said. “We bring them God, many of them for the first time.” He did not expect the troops to come to him but for him to bring God to them. Thank you Rev. White for your service in the military and your continued service with your church! You can find more information on Home of Heroes website BEYOND BELIEF: TRUE STORIES OF MILITARY CHAPLAINS Even more amazing is the fact that each of these stories is TRUE! The scene illustrated on the cover was chosen as a fitting example of what kind of stories we wanted to write for this book, and is a vivid and historically accurate depiction of a World War II event that in which four Army chaplains, each from different faiths, bonded based on what they had in common, to become close friends. The four gave their lives in the North Atlantic when their troop ship was sunk, going so far as to give their lifejackets to other men who had none. They became enshrined as “The Four Immortal Chaplains,” whose story is inspiring for decades.

He's also the Director of Spiritual Formation and leads the Institute of Spiritual Formation at St. Vincent Seminary. He's co-authored two books, Spiritual Direction: A Guide for Sharing the Father's Love and Personal Prayer: A Guide for Receiving the Father's Love.A tremendous brother in Christ, he's a student of the human heart. He is both fascinated and drawn to the ways in which God's presence brings us healing in our hearts.  A glimpse at some of his wisdom from this powerful interview:When we recognize the infinite dignity and the mystery of the person, when we make room in our own hearts and allow ourselves to weep with those who weep and to rejoice with those who rejoice, as Saint Paul says, when I make room in my heart to be moved- then when I find ways to express that ... just these little expressions of our presence to the person really helps them to receive... all of that provides the kind of framework in which a lot of healing can take place.(Unbound Ministry) is such a beautiful opportunity to reverence the person, to hold them in their vulnerability, and hold them as the Father does, and then help them to see this is how they are eternally loved. This is the eternal love from which they were made. Magiging maligaya at tuwa mo s'ya. Amen.

On this weeks programme John and Martina have an interview with Dr Mary Healy. Mary is a professor of scripture in Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit Michigan and a member of the Pontifical Biblical Commission.  Mary spoke to us about her experiences in Charismatic Renewal and Healing. She also spoke to us about family life and marriage.  Mary grew up in a “Sunday Mass catholic home”. Parents took her to mass on Sunday but had no other faith activity during the week. They had no prayer life to speak of. Then her parents went on a “Cursillo” retreat and both her parents had a deep conversion experience after which the rosary, the sacraments, and personal prayer became so important  to them and they introduced their children to these also. Mary went to college, and as is quite common drifted from God due to having no prayer life. At end of college she was spiritually empty but went on to rediscover her relationship with God while attending in Steubenville University. Mary lived with a charismatic community in Maryland for several years and this taught her a great deal about getting to know God in a personal way and through the Cross and Resurrection.  Mary also shares with us about the Christian understanding of marriage and how repentance, giving and accepting forgiveness makes marriages strong and leads spouses to a deeper love for one another. One of the biggest obstacle to healing is unforgiveness. We need to be very careful about this in our lives and examine our conscience often. Forgive and allow God judge the person who has wounded us.  With every Gift of the spirit it is God the Holy Spirit operating through us. The more intimate we are with Jesus the more we know His ways. We are like a musical instrument  which the Holy Spirit “plays”...the more intimate we are with Jesus the “sweeter the tune”!!!!

Church Militant The Vortex Feed

TRANSCRIPT When Church Militant broke the story last year that the music director of the archdiocese of Detroit, Joe Balistreri, was/is an open homosexual, was living with his sodomite partner and it was a pretty much open secret in the Detroit chancery, we didn't realize just how right we were. As a refresher, recall the secret surveillance footage that got the ball rolling on his "separation" from the archdiocese and the empty words from the chancery in language crafted by attorneys to deliberately obscure the truth from the faithful. We heard through the grapevine (which is very extensive here in the homosexual-friendly archdiocese run by the homosexual-friendly Archbishop Allen Vigneron) that plenty of people were ticked at his outing — including the archbishop himself, who sources tell Church Militant still regularly inquires about Balistreri through various mutual acquaintances. Some sources also tell us that Balistreri walked away with a pretty tidy sum of money in exchange for keeping his mouth shut about all the gay-clergy skeletons he knows about. In fact, it would seem, from his own recent words in a speech he gave, that the gay network under Vigneron runs quite deep here in Motown. See, there's a heck of a lot admitted in those words from Balistreri (remember, an open homosexual living with his partner), who, sources tell us, was known by Vigneron and/or his various chancery officials. His own words — that chancery types were warning him to watch out for getting outed — seem to confirm all we have reported about Vigneron for some time, that he is part of the homosexual clerical network to at least some degree. Do anything you like, just don't get caught. And why wouldn't he be? Even more comments from Balistreri come from a YouTube presentation by multiple active homosexuals who once worked for the Church in defiance of the divine teaching on sodomy and many other teachings and yet have been coddled and protected by bishops and their staffs all over the country — including by Vigneron here in Detroit. Their comments (and there's no reason to doubt their veracity) reveal just how in league with this evil scores of bishops actually are. And it's not just an active homosexual employee they take that tack with, it's even clergy who rape altar boys and go after vulnerable seminarians, grooming them — or at least attempting to. The motto of the gay hierarchy appears to be, "Do anything you like, just don't get caught because then we have to pretend we didn't know anything." That squares perfectly with reports from the archdiocese of Miami, for example, which, in the wake of Pope Benedict getting the secret files in 2010 compiled by laity of all the active sodomite priests there, unceremoniously dumped the sitting archbishop John Favalora. Favalora was part of the O.Q.N. — Old Queen Network — dominant in the ranks of the U.S. bishops. During his 15 years in Miami, he cultivated such an extensive network of homosexual priests under him that one told a local TV station that if all the gay priests in Miami were to resign, they'd have to shut down the archdiocese. That network was cataloged extensively in hundreds of pages of the report entitled "Miami Vice" — again, assembled by faithful laity. It was the reason for Benedict getting rid of Favalora. But that's just one example of what has become a backdoor network in diocese after diocese, backdoor because, from the public-facing appearance, all is good, but coming in the back door is the entire homosexual network, that door opened by homosexual bishops and their multiple gay staffers. Oftentimes, opening that back door lets in the subset of gay rapists (of altar boys), who have to then also be protected by bishops, lest the entire network be exposed. Two of these individuals worked for the archdiocese of Detroit for years. Balistreri was himself accused of trying to groom a young college student. None of these people think there is the slightest thing wrong with gay sex, and the bishops and their staffs either believe the same thing or are too cowardly to do anything about it — it's either one of the two. The only concern of the bishops is the potential PR damage if/when it gets discovered that either they themselves are gay or friendly toward it. During his years in Miami, he cultivated an extensive network of homosexual priests. Older Catholics, who they bilk for millions by pretending to be something other than they are, would not much appreciate all this deception. So from the front, all is good. But it's that back door where all the damage is inflicted. Vigneron knew all about Joe Balistreri — paid him for years with faithful Catholics’ money, let him subvert teaching at every turn, dumped a priest who found out about the alleged grooming and reported it, allowed him to fill the ranks of parish music directors with like-minded and practicing gays and, when it was all revealed by Church Militant last year, sent him off with a nice payoff to keep his mouth shut. So, question for you, Vigneron: Are you homosexual? Issue a statement denying it, now or never, and do what a bishop should do — condemn and denounce the practice. What has been the relationship between you and your disgraced fellow archbishop and lifelong buddy John Nienstedt, a man who had quite the reputation for chasing after good-looking seminarians when you two headed up Sacred Heart Seminary. Did you never hear about that? Why don't you reveal how much hush money you paid Balistreri? After all, it's not your money. It's ours. You just administer it. You are a shepherd, not a CEO. Tell the truth — how much of our money did you fork over to Bodman legal to draw up the secret settlement to keep Joe's mouth shut? Were you one of the ones he was threatening to out? You can sit up on your ecclesiastical high horse acting as though none of this matters or is anyone else's concern, but you'd be wrong. It is very much our concern. The gay network here in Detroit has proliferated on your watch. In fact, according to the charges made by your favorite music director (who insiders tell Church Militant you sorely miss) the entire chancery practically is in on it. So how about it, archbishop? Why don't you come clean? Fess up to your role in the O.Q.N., or out and out deny it and reveal the money amounts. And just so everyone out there is aware, Vigneron is next in line to become president of the U.S. Bishops Conference this coming November. If that isn't fitting, we don't know what is. Maybe Mr. Balistreri can play the organ at the inauguration ceremony.

TRANSCRIPT Shortly after the news broke about Theodore McCarrick in June of 2018 that he was a serial homopredator, the modernist spin machine went into overdrive covering its tracks. In a stunningly audacious interview at the annual Knights of Columbus convention that summer, Cdl. Donald Wuerl, who turned out to be the frontman for the cover-up, totally attempted to deflect when questioned by another liar in a collar, Fr. Thomas Rosica. For the record, the truth of both these men has been fully revealed. Rosica being a serial plagiarist is now in "ecclesiastical Siberia," where he should have always been, and Wuerl was essentially embarrassed into stepping down after his role in the cover-up. But life being what it is, Rosica gets banished and Wuerl collects a couple of million dollars a year from the archdiocese of Washington, D.C. The interview, however, revealed a lot more because Wuerl signaled in that interview to his brother bishops to hold the party line and do or say nothing. When it came to homosexual bishops or cover-up bishops, all of this was to be kept "in-house." That summer was a total revealing of the corruption in the hierarchy — from McCarrick and the Pennsylvania grand jury report, to the original Vigano testimony where, for the first time, the presence of an active, wicked, homosexual cabal was outed as having a stranglehold on the Church. If knowledge were not king, the evil bishops and their cowardly counterparts would not go to such great lengths to deprive you of it. But to Wuerl, who had been a master of deceit his entire time in robes, this was just another opportunity to get control of the narrative by saying the issue went back "decades and decades" so there was no need for him to resign. Wuerl, with his serpentine demeanor, went on the secular media tour, continuing the cover-up not only of himself but of all the other bishops involved in this filth — just like so many other cardinals in the Church whose resumes are replete with degrees in lying, deceit, deflection and falsehoods. To dive a little deeper into the "decades and decades ago" fabrication, if that is the case, then why was a Brazilian bishop just relieved of his duties for pleasuring himself on a video feed? Why was a Michigan priest, trained at Sacred Heart Seminary here in Detroit just a few years ago and touted as a "model seminarian," just arrested and charged with child sex trafficking? Why was the highest-ranking priest in the United States, Msgr. Jeffrey "Grindr" Burrill, just caught making hundreds of hookups for homosexual activity? Why is the North American College in Rome currently being sued for homopredator behavior on the part of the vice rector who mysteriously just resigned out of the blue? Included in that suit are more than 30 U.S. bishops who, according to the suit, covered it all up and were completely nonresponsive to the pleas of a seminarian being railroaded by Cdl. Timothy Dolan of New York. And that Brazilain bishop, prior to his unfortunate video display, had been twice reported to the Vatican for theft and having a homosexual lover. Of course, nothing was ever pursued. It's becoming commonplace now in the Church that if you do not have electronic recordings of the actual crime or sin, the bishops investigate themselves and then clear themselves. For example, Bp. Richard Malone of Buffalo is no longer bishop not because he refused to answer questions we and others put to him about his cover-up of sex abuse by Buffalo clergy, but because he was secretly recorded on audio by one of his own priests admitting his scheming. Likewise, in Crookston, Minnesota, Bp. Michael Hoeppner is gone now because he was captured lying on video during a deposition. And while there wasn't specific video or audio evidence with Wuerl, there was a paperwork trail that came to light that proved he too, as Abp. Vigano said, was lying through his teeth. Civil suits, criminal charges or video/audio proof are the only things that the "transparent, always want to dialogue, apologetic" bishop crowd ever respond to because only then is their hand forced. Of course, all this begins with knowledge, meaning the Catholic faithful must first understand precisely who and what they are dealing with: The hierarchy is an international homosexual crime syndicate that destroys anyone and everyone it can to secure its money and cover its active homosexuality. The hierarchy has been aligning itself with the party of death, the communist Democrats, for decades because that party has been funneling them loads of cash every year to help destabilize America. The bishops steal the faithful's money from the collection basket each Sunday and steal it again from their taxes every year. It's quite the racket, in fact. You get zillions of dollars from people you have fooled into thinking you're trustworthy and then you owe an accounting to no one — until you die, of course. And even now, in light of all these revelations, a huge number of Catholics are still in the dark because so few people are actually telling you all this, least of all the Catholic establishment media who also profit from all this evil, however pious they may present themselves in matters strictly theological. Church Militant has been informing you of all this corruption way before it was fashionable. As we learned of the total depravity and depth of the evil the hierarchy engages in, we committed to exposing everything we can because, at the end of the day, it stands as a roadblock to innocent souls flailing about in an ocean of cultural wokeness engineered by the bishops in cooperation with the Marxist Democrats. The bottom line to this Vortex is that knowledge is king. If knowledge were not king, the evil bishops and their cowardly counterparts would not go to such great lengths to deprive you of it. They never reveal anything unless they are forced to by a judge or by other circumstances. What is needed right now is more knowledge on the part of the faithful so that they can spread the word and take action, demand change, look for opportunities to sue these monsters in miters, get the secular press to do stories on them, and just be relentless, pounding, and never stopping — just like the hierarchy has been with you for decades in covering up the truth. In other words, hound these men — but you need the knowledge to do that. That is why Church Militant is excited to announce that beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, we will be expanding our nightly news coverage to now incorporate The Download discussion immediately following it. Secondly, we will be airing this all-new Catholic Info Hour each weeknight from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. ET. (This is a change from the current 6:30 p.m. ET time where we bring you just Evening News live. Now it will be Evening News and The Download as a full one-hour live presentation beginning at 7 p.m. ET.) The Catholic world needs a single, reliable point of knowledge and information that has no constraints. The staff has been in meetings and planning sessions and deeper discussions for weeks now, and we are getting our final game on by rearranging shifts and personnel responsibilities to bring you the most informative, no-holds-barred, honest, trustworthy news and discussion show in the entire Catholic world. Sorry EWTN, CNA, Register, Relevant Radio, Ave Maria Radio and the like, but the rest of you are just not trustworthy in discussing the current crisis in the Church. You are personally invested in keeping your mouths shut. And, as we have said for years, that's the price you have to pay for your lack of independence. You are too closely tied to the criminals in the hierarchy, and, no matter how you slice it and dice it, you are compromised. Period. There are simply some subjects you are forbidden from covering, but the problem is that it is precisely those subjects that are at the heart of the crisis. The Catholic world needs a single, reliable point of knowledge and information that has no constraints. That, ladies and gentlemen, my fellow faithful Catholics, is the Catholic Info Hour, debuting live on Church Militant on Tuesday, Sept 7, 2021, at 7 p.m. ET. Thank you to all our Premium Members and supporters who make the ever-expanding Church Militant footprint possible. And, for the record, that's six million viewers per month. Thank you, and be sure to mark your calendars for the debut of the Catholic Info Hour.
