Preaching for the Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Leah Sealey offers a reflection on how story telling can help enhance our lives of faith and discipleship: "What does this gospel reading about “being called” or even the Greek translation of “netting people” enliven in you? Perhaps you can spend some time alone or with a partner, journaling or reflecting together. Tell a story about a time when you had a change of heart or had an experience of being “won over”, or about your ongoing commitment to serving others in order to heal the fractures in our broken world." Leah Sealey convenes MKE Spiritual Directors, a peer development group for spiritual directors and a resource for those seeking spiritual direction in the Milwaukee area. In the spring of 2020, she graduated from Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology's Cor Unum program with a MA in systematic theology. Dr. Rob Sealey returns to the podcast. Back in S3E7 he talked about Cannabis For Kids. Today we drive down the road to the other end of the age spectrum, Cannabis and Seniors. Dr. Sealey is super knowledgeable, but also pithy comment machine! Within this episode he says "you wouldn't go into your local liquor store and say, which bottle of Marlow should I use for my arthritis." He also figures "if we're at all related to mice and some people are more related to rats, then you know, you got a pretty good shot as this could actually potentially help." When filling your medicine cabinet there is "the great substitution effect of using cannabis because of its multi-modal aspects." Applying his knowledge he shares "I always am a booster of the endocannabinoid system." We can't entice you any better that these quotes. Go Listen! Jenny Sealey has been the artistic director of Graeae Theatre Company since 1997: Graeae is a deaf and disabled-led company and a leader and innovator in accessible theatre. Jenny has directed opera as well as plays, and was the co-director of the 2012 Paralympic opening ceremony. Jenny was born in Nottingham in 1963, the eldest of four sisters. She lost her hearing at the age of seven following a fall at school in which she banged her head. At that time, deaf children were not encouraged to use British Sign Language, and so she taught herself to lip read, and stayed in a mainstream school, although she often found it challenging. She also continued to take ballet lessons, helped by an inspirational teacher who encouraged her to follow the form and movements of the dancer in front of her. She went on to study dance and choreography at Middlesex Polytechnic. After graduation, Jenny worked as an actor before becoming the artistic director of Graeae. In 2022 she was awarded an OBE for services to disability arts. Most recently she returned to acting and toured the UK with Self Raising, her one-woman autobiographical play. Jenny lives in London with her son and partner. DISC ONE: Handel: Messiah, HWV 56, Pt. 2: No. 44, Chorus. Hallelujah, for the Lord God Omnipotent Reigneth. We are very excited about our guests this week on the Meldon Law & Friends Podcast!
I have been waiting two and a half years to make this announcement and the time has finally arrived! As many of you know, I have been very vocal about the horrors our children face from the underbelly of our society. The only way we stop this gorilla of a monster, that is only continuing to grow in strength, is to come together and do everything we can to demolish the industry of child sex trafficking. On today's episode, I have the honor of speaking with Forrest Sealey, the executive director for Veterans 4 Child Rescue (V4CR) about not just the problem but the solution we can all get involved in. We discussed the very dark reality of this horrific industry and shared some vital information that even had me shocked at how this industry is able to operate with kids who are still in school and living under the roofs of their parents. If there was ever a time I will ask you for your help, it is on this show. Please share this episode far and wide from a place of love and desire to inform others on how they can help as well. And please consider being part of the solution financially if you are able to. A $150 billion industry will only be taken down by a financial solution that matches it…which means we have a lot of work to do! And if you're interested in learning how you can get more involved to help bring in more donations, please do not hesitate to email me nicole@nicolefrolick.com. I am Joe Sealey, a current cast member on "The Real Housewives of Cheshire," a globally televised show seen in 36 countries. While I may appear to lead a glamorous life on screen, my journey has been marked by personal struggles, particularly my battle with addiction to cocaine and alcohol. My story is not just one of success but of resilience, transformation, and the importance of sharing the reality behind the glitz and glamour. My book, "On Days Like These," is a testament to my recovery journey, and it has achieved the remarkable feat of becoming a number 1 bestseller. Through my book, podcasts, and television interviews, I aim to shed light on the darker chapters of my life and how I emerged from the depths of addiction to the life I lead now. It's crucial to me to emphasize that the image people see on television doesn't tell the full story. Life wasn't always about luxury and fame for me. I have faced my share of challenges and setbacks, but I've also discovered the strength within me to overcome them. My experiences have given me a unique perspective on addiction and recovery, and I'm dedicated to using my platform to raise awareness about these issues. I believe that by sharing my story, I can provide hope and inspiration to others who may be struggling with addiction or facing their own hardships. Through my continued efforts, I hope to inspire and support those who may be facing their own battles, showing that with determination and the right support, it's possible to overcome adversity and find a path to a better life. For those interested in learning more about my journey and the message I aim to spread, I've provided three links below: 1. [Daily Star Article](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/manchester-united-les-joe-sealey-30125279): This article delves into my story, highlighting my journey and the challenges I've overcome. 2. [YouTube Interview 1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IQf5vfU4IQ): In this interview, I discuss my addiction recovery journey and how it has shaped my life today. 3. Dan is joined by Joe Sealey, ex-West Ham footballer who is currently starring in the Housewives of Cheshire. Joe is also the son of late Manchester United goalie Les Sealey, Joe lost his father and his football career at the same time which is what led him down the path of addiction. Joe talks to Dan in this episode about the role of his father and football in his life and addiction and how his wife helped him on the road to recovery. Joe opens up about what addiction and sobriety have been like for him including many of his lowest moments, the failure of rehab and what life looks like now he has been sober for many years. Joe also talks about his number 1 bestselling book which is about his addiction, sobriety and also features chapters from his dad's book project that was started many years before. KEY TAKEAWAYS Identifying himself as his fathers' son and later as a West Ham player, meant Joe never discovered his own true identity which led to a lot of problems with his self-esteem. Before his dad died and his career ended, Joe had never really drunk alcohol to excess and had never taken drugs, but within 6-8 months he had started taking drugs and drinking. Joe felt like at the start, drugs saved his life, they made him happy, but it quickly escalated to ruining everything for him. Very quickly, Joe escalated from doing drugs socially to isolating himself and doing it alone at home every day. Hyperfocus and drive can help individuals find success, but they are also traits that can easily lead them down the path to addiction. Joe meeting his wife is what saved him and he attributes being her today and staying sober to her love and support. Before realising he had a drug problem Joe thought he had an anger problem, but it was actually the comedowns from drug taking that were making him angry. Rehab didn't work for Joe; it didn't prepare him for when he left the centre. Children sense when their parents, or any adult, have been drinking or taking drugs. It's something both Dan and Joe feel ashamed about now they are sober. Being on Housewives of Cheshire is for fun and promotion for Joe, he doesn't take it too seriously. Joe's advice to anyone struggling with addiction is to just get through the day, and then keep getting through each day, try and switch off your thoughts by any means necessary such as going for a walk. BEST MOMENTS "I did [drugs] it and it made me feel better”] ”Drugs saved my life but by the end it took everything” “What I loved was losing control” “Once I start I can't stop” “You have to look at the tragedy [of addiction] and laugh at it” “Your brain will kill you if you listen to it” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://www.cocaineanonymous.org.uk CONTACT METHOD Instagram Facebook Twitter ABOUT THE HOSTS Daniel O'Reilly Daniel O'Reilly is one of the UK's Largest Influencers, a comedian, actor, musician, viral video star and social influencer. Kirk Norcross Instagram “My name is Kirk Norcross, I'm 34 years old, I had a pretty good run, a TV career which I can't even remember hardly any of that, drugs consumed my life I always used drugs like an addict but I didn't use them all the time until my fiancé split up with me for no reason and never gave me a reason and I was so upset, hurt and confused. I started using drugs to self-medicate to shut my brain down to stop thinking and then spiral turned and turned and turned until I was like a wrecking ball everywhere I went every penny I had went on drugs, my whole life revolved around drugs I tried recovery a couple of times and kept relapsing then I lost my due to suicide, and it was like something clicked in my head that I need to step up to the plate and be the man that my father wanted me to be, and from then on, I've been so as of today's date I am 583 days sober haven't touched any drugs or alcohol or any other mind-influencing substance since then.” Menace 2 Sobriety, podcast, actor, comedian, sobriety, sober, story, years sober, consequences, behaviour, alcoholism, drug addiction, denial, insecurity, fear-driven,rock bottom, sober, rehab, suicidal, addict, realization, struggle, addiction, rock bottom, denial, curiosity, hope, denial, gratitude, self-awareness,behaviour, guilt, shame, emotions, gratitude, self esteem, gratitude, sober life, drugs, confidence, sobriety, ego, drinking,Sobriety Podcast #wedorecover # recoveroutloud #addicitonrecovery #addiction #recoverytok #sobriety #sober #sobertiktok #sobertok #soberlife #sobercurious #soberliving: https://www.instagram.com/dappersinstagram/This show was brought to you by Progressive Media
Persistence is a difficult thing to learn. It goes right alongside patience. Anyone who has children knows how hard those lessons are. It is an internal battle. We don't want to be patient; we want our answers now. We want to be in control, even if it's just the timing, but we don't even control that! So, that leaves us needing to be persistent in prayer and trusting in God's timing.

This week, Leonora heartily welcomes prolific filmmaker Amber Sealey to the podcast. Amber has directed five features, including the tense psychodrama No Man of God starring Elijah Wood and Luke Kirby, and Disney's upcoming Out of My Mind. Amber is unfiltered in all the best ways: full of vulnerability and hard-won wisdom about how to be brave and focused creative. The two friends discuss working in the UK vs the US, what it's like being married to a legitimate rocket scientist and how his scientific mind and her artistic mind come through in their two kids, moving from acting to directing and making the move from a miro-budgets shot in one apartment to working with the biggest studio in the world. To enjoy more of Amber's stellar work, please visit https://www.ambersealey.com/ And listen VERY carefully: you're doing a great job.

My guest on this episode is Lindsay Sealey. She is an educator, speaker, consultant, mentor, facilitator, and activist. She has merged her love of academics and personal growth into her company Bold New Girls and Brave New Boys. She offers courses and workshops. She has also written three books: Growing Strong Girls, Rooted, Resilient and Ready, and Made for More. Our episode focuses on the advise that Lindsay would provide to young girls, women and their parents but could easily be incorporated into advise for any age and regardless of if you are a parent. We discuss how she made a goal of wanting to start a business and how the path for her started with a list of 100 tasks that once she completed that she did have her business. Sometimes a new goal can seem overwhelming and it really does take a plan with tiny steps to make that happen. Lindsay's newest book Made for More discusses bringing more connection, more communication, more love, more authentic, more positive into the lives of young people. We tend to focus to much on more hustle, more financial success, and more outward things that are not guaranteed to bring us happiness and peace of mind. We discuss back-to-school and creating healthy communication skills. Just because we want to have a conversation with someone doesn't mean that the minute we want to have it works for them. We talk about mindfulness and stress reduction.Bold New Girls ™ (@boldnewgirls) • Instagram photos and videosLindsay Sealey -Ashley (@filledupcup_) • Instagram photos and videosFilled Up Cup - Unconventional Self Care for Modern WomenSOLD On The DreamWhat's a life selling real estate really like?
