Román Nezlomné, v ktorom Emilia Hart prepletá príbehy troch výnimočných žien naprieč piatimi storočiami, ponúka strhujúci príbeh, svedčiaci o odolnosti žien a o schopnosti prírodného sveta meniť život ľudí. "Odvážny a originálny debut Nezlomné je strhujúcim príbehom o tom, čo sa môže stať, keď sa prírodný svet spojí s dedičstvom čarodejníctva." – Sarah Penner, najpredávanejšia autorka podľa New York Times "Generačný príbeh o ženskej odolnosti." – The Guardian "Román Nezlomné je epická dráma troch pozoruhodných žien, ktoré nachádzajú svoju silu a moc prostredníctvom slov tej druhej a jedinečného spoločného dedičstva." – BookTrib Audiokniha: Nezlomné Autor: Emilia Hart Interpret: Eva Sakálová Dĺžka: 11:26 h Vydavateľstvo: Publixing a Ikar Audiokniha Nezlomné na webe Publixing (MP3 na stiahnutie) Audiokniha Nezlomné na webe Audiolibrix (MP3 na stiahnutie)

Becoming an expert takes years of work and many of you have asked how you can take that expertise out for a spin in the media. I don't blame you. From the moment the my first Atlantic article, “Why Parents Need to Let Their Children Fail” went viral in 2013, I was eager to get on television and radio so I could talk about my work, stir up interest in my topics, and hopefully maximize my chances of selling a book on the topic. One decade and two books later, I still pitch producers all the time about a range of topics, and I've learned some things. Sit back, relax, and let's talk pitching, prepping your topic, and securing media spots on television and radio so you can become one of those go-to experts producers seek out over and over again. This is Penner's debut novel.  The book is about an 18th Century Apothecary, Nella, who sells poisons to women seeking to kill men. She has two rules: The poison must never be used to harm another woman and the names of the murderer, and her victim must be recorded in the apothecary's register.  NPR describes it as a poisonously good read, but Publisher's Weekly says it starts out strong but peters out. One Goodreads reviewer Nilufer Ozmekik gave very positive reviews. Lisa questions some historical facts, pointing out that if a man dies a woman will likely be subordinate to another man. this article about Jane Austen that highlights some of the laws in the 1700s in London for women showing that women did not inherit the estate when a man died and was instead mostly forced to follow another man's rules.  *The book titles mentioned include affiliate links. For April 2022, Jen and the club read Sarah Penner's The Lost Apothecary. Sarah began writing seriously back in 2015 after attending a lecture by one of our favorite authors–Elizabeth Gilbert. Soon after that moment, Sarah enrolled in her first creative writing class, and y'all, how lucky are we that she did. Her book, The Lost Apothecary, was an instant success. It debuted at #7 on the New York Times bestseller list, and has been translated into over 40 languages. Based on a real-life mudlarking discovery (and yes, she explains what that is), Sarah takes us back in time to see how one woman created space for women everywhere to do what they needed to do. I think she's somewhere in the middle. And that's how all of us are really, none of us are heroes. None of us are villains. We're all somewhere in the middle.” – Sarah Penner    “Sometimes we can meet someone and just form an instant friendship, sisterhood, connection, whatever you want to call it. And those can be the people that are most impactful in our lives. We don't need to only rely on these friends that we've had our whole lives. Sometimes the people that we need the most are just right there in the near vicinity.” – Sarah Penner    "Betrayal is part of the human experience. And one of the most enjoyable things about writing this book was I was able to compare and contrast how things were different with 200 years between them. And one of the main things that was the same is how we are all hurt by people that we love. And 200 years from now, nothing will have changed." – Sarah Penner   Sarah's LinksWebsite Instagram Twitter    Books & Resources Mentioned in This EpisodeI Capture the Castle - Dodie Smith Bloomsbury Girls - Natalie Jenner Connect with Jen!Jen's website Jen's InstagramJen's Twitter Jen's FacebookJen's YouTube
