Denn der Ort, wo ich herkomme - Rostock - der hat mich sehr geprägt. Seit über einem Jahr sammelte ich Tracks und Tonspuren von zuhause dafür und habe immer wieder arrangiert. Ich habe allein vier Hafenrundfahrten mitgeschnitten. Das hier sind also meine „Loveletters to the Baltic Sea“ Die vertretenen Künstler*innen kommen alle aus dem Ostseeraum Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Mit einigen bin ich aufgewachsen, andere habe während meines Studiums kennengelernt, mit einigen habe ich mich übers Auflegen und Musik machen angefreundet, ein paar Bekanntschaften, andere wissen gar nix von mir und sind vielleicht überrascht, dass sie hier auftauchen. Ein Track ist auch ganz frisch von der Insel Rügen von Harro Triptrap feat. Judith van Waterkant. Yeah! Der Podcast ist eine biographische Reise durch ein oft vergessenes, dünn besiedeltes Bundesland mit hoher Arbeitslosigkeit und dem größten Alkohol-pro-Kopf-Verbrauch der Republik (isso!), dessen größte Schönheit die Natur ist und wo ich eine wunderbare Kindheit verbracht habe. Aber die Straßen waren schon öfter rough. Früh musste man sich hier als Jugendliche politisieren ohne überhaupt richtig verstanden zu haben, um was es eigentlich genau geht. Früh wurde man gefragt „Bist du links oder rechts“ und mir wurde von älteren Freunden gesagt, dass ich links sagen soll und dann soll ich schnell rennen. Denn manchmal bekam man dafür auf die Fresse. Neonazis mit Springerstiefeln gehörten in den Neunzigern ganz normal zum Stadtbild und ich will nicht wissen wieviele Kilometer Umwege ich damals genommen habe um denen nicht zu begegnen. Umso mehr konnte man dann die Orte und Clubs wertschätzen, in welchen man sich frei bewegen konnte, wie das Jaz, die Stubnitz, welche mittlerweile im Hamburger Hafen liegt, oder die Fusion. Ich bin dankbar für alle Menschen, die solche Orte in der Region geschaffen und die diese mit ihrer Kunst lebendig gemacht haben und so Alternativen für Jugendliche zu „gelangweilt an der Bushaltestelle saufen“ gaben. Wie man richtig feiert und dabei aufeinander Acht gibt, habe ich früh gelernt. Natürlich haben wir uns auch mal aufs Maul gelegt, aber wie oft tat mein Gesicht eher vom Lachen weh. Was ich aus vollem Herzen sagen kann: diese Region wird immer mein zuhause sein, egal wo ich wohne. Ich bin schon öfter ein lauter und impulsiver Mensch, aber wenn mich eines zur Ruhe und Besonnenheit bringt, dann ist es die Ostsee. Ich muss regelmäßig auf sie raufstarren und manchmal reinrennen, das macht mich glücklich und pegelt mich wieder ein. Es ist schön zu wissen, dass meine Familie und Freunde mich dort immer mit offenen Armen und Wärme empfangen. What was your personal highlight this year and why? A) Difficult to say. The whole summer was a highlight for me. Fusion Festival was great again. Also Garbicz Festival in Poland was outstanding. There I played an improvised live-set back to back with my buddy Krink. We started from zero, no idea where it would end. That was really an awesome experience and we definitely will repeat that soon. These are just two examples. To sum up I can say, that every single festival was nice and had it’s own energy. And it doesn’t matter if it’s a big one or not. The smaller ones, like Wilde Möhre Festival or 3000Grad Festival have got such an intimate and cozy atmosphere, you can’t find at the huge productions like Sonne, Mond & Sterne, or as mentioned above, Fusion Festival. The big ones are impressive, because of the energy the crowd gives you and you automatically just try to push things forward in your sound and set. Q) You´re inside your studio all week and travelling all weekends. Where´s time and space to collect some new inspiration and recharge your batteries? A) Most of the inspiration I collect while traveling. Discovering new places. Meeting so many nice people everywhere. That’s a lot of input all the time and has to be processed. And a year ago I moved to Leipzig. A new surrounding, new studio, meet a lot of new people, met old and made new friends. This is also a lot of inspiration for me at the moment. And for recharging my batteries it’s important to do things with friends or my girlfriend outside of this music-thing. Mondays my ears got vacation. No music, just hanging, meeting friends or doing stupid office shit. Q) Which Schlepp Geist releases can we expect soon? A) A lot. I’ve made an EP together with my friend Douglas Greed, which is going to be released this week on Animal Trainers „Hive Audio“. It’s called "Hub Twenty" and I’m so looking forward to the release day. Yay! And there’s also some more straight techno stuff coming up in the next months, for what I decided to choose another alias. But that’s a thing I don’t wanna tell too much about. And of course some remixes are coming also in October / November / December.

Gestartet als Ambient-DJ Solaris im legendären Prime Rose Club eröffnete er bereits 1996 mit seinem Freund „Warren“ den Plattenladen „RecordStore“. Mit ihm bildete er auch das DJ-Duo „Warren & Solaris“ und veranstalteten diverse Party-Reihen wie z.B. „soundLab“ in der Desi. Seit 2003 ist er buchstäblich das Herz des Nürnberger Techno und House Clubs „Die Rakete“, den er erfolgreich mitgestaltet (Platz 7 beliebtester Club, Groove 2014). Hier reifte auch sein warmer und organischer Sound zwischen Deep und Tech House und vor allem seine große Empathie für den Dancefloor. Mit dem Gespür für den richtigen Track zur rechten Zeit schafft er stets auch den großen Bogen über seine Sets zu spannen und sorgt mit Einflüssen von Dub bis Electronica oder einen Klassiker an passender Stelle für die überraschenden Momente. Seit 2014 produziert Stefan Riegauf zusammen mit Markus Homm auch seine eigenen Tracks. Sein jüngster Release „Behind The Dust“ erscheint im Februar 2015 auf Bondage Music mit Remixen von Mihai Popoviciu und Schlepp Geist und fand den direkten Weg in Sets von Künstlern wie Anja Schneider.
